I took my bike to 2 highly rated bike shops in Seattle to diagnose and fix drivetrain issues I was having with my Campagnolo 12 speed groupset. Neither shop was able to fix my bike. I heard about Lakeside Bicycles from a guy I was kayaking with so I called them. I made the 3.5+ hour trip from the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state to Lakeside Bicycles. It was definitely worth the trip. Gordon, David, Peter, and Todd treated me like a friend, educated me on bike mechanics, and fixed my bike. Its smooth, quiet, and fast now. I highly recommend Lakeside Bicycles.

This was our 5th bike purchase. Each time, we have an amazing experience! They called me when my bike was in stock. Not only did they make the sale, they fit the bike to me and gave us several tutorials. They take the time and will provide ongoing support. Its the service you miss elsewhere that makes Lakeside such a wonderful place. Thanks again!!

A month ago, I bought a cable combination bike lock, and set my combination. This weekend, I wanted to use it for the first time, but the combination wouldn’t work. Extremely frustrating! Today, I went in to buy a replacement lock, but instead, with the words, “We don’t want you to suffer....”, I was handed a new lock, gratis. A refreshing experience in a day when what most call customer service is anything but. Has this store just secured my loyalty? You bet!

This is the best professional bike store in Portland that I have patronized. I had to replace four bearings on my carbon Pinarello Duo Campagnolo bike. Two in the headset and two in the bottom bracket. The two extremely knowledgeable mechanics, Gordon and Peter, pulled off the cranks, cleaned the bottom bracket, cleaned the cups, lubed everything, and replaced the bearings. They did the same meticulous work replacing, cleaning, and lubing the two bearings in the head set. They were like family showing me how it should be done so that in the future I could change the bearings myself. They spent an hour working on my bike and did not charge me for the labor, just for the four bearings. A great experience. It was a joy interacting with them. I highly recommend them.

Great experience... Lakeside Bicycles is the best! Kind, honest, thoughtful. A few months ago I showed up at the back door of the shop, after hours and without an appointment. The owner invited me into the shop, and inspected my bike. After roughly a 10 minute inspection and testing, and after a few minor adjustments, the owner told me that the bike had no significant issues, just a minor adjustment. He then told me no charge, he said he did not do much, and did not feel that he should charge me. Although I insisted he be compensated, he said no. He was just neighborly, friendly, and helping a local resident.

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICEDave and Nick were absolutely outstanding. We have shopped everywhere for bikes and Dave was the most knowledgeable salesperson we have talked to. He was patient with our lack of knowledge, and is very educated in the e bike world. When we went to pick them up then next day they both helped load our bike on the rack we had purchased before buying bikes. When it didnt work with the bikes we bought they found us one that worked and put it together for us. They made it fun and we had blast working with them. I strongly suggest checking them out. You will be glad you did. Thank you for the Excellent customer service.

I just took delivery of my new Specialized Roubaix ordered through Lakeside and wanted to recognize the Lakeside team for their excellent service. Even with these challenging times, Lakeside went the extra mile to ensure I got the right bike to meet my cycling needs. They made the entire process easy and maintained regular communication so that I was aware of the status of my new bike. If you are looking for a solid local bike shop, give Lakeside a chance to earn your business, you will be glad you did.

My wife just went here to try and look at a bike for my son as well as my mother. Greeted by someone who she could tell didn’t want to help and put out zero effort. As she was leaving, she was greeted by a second employee who had a even a worse attitude. My wife very rarely complains about anyone as she is extremely patient and kind. She described this as the weirdest customer service experience she has ever had. Needless to say, we will not be back. Plenty of other bike stores to spend our money at.

Terrible customer service from the owner down. I was looking to have a press fit bottom bracket installed in a bike Im rebuilding. I looked at the prices listed on lakeside-bikes.com and saw that a Crankset and Bottom bracket install was $10. Seemed very reasonable since its only a 5 minute job. Dropped off my bare frame, BB and crank at Lakeside and they called me later that day to come pick it up. They rang me up for $40 so I mentioned that the website said it would only be $10. Amy, the woman running the register immediately got irritated and said the website is out of date and were redoing it so I wouldnt go by that - I attempted to explain that as a business youre responsible for accurate marketing and price quotes, etc... she didnt seem to understand the importance of customer service and would not let me have my bike until I paid the full $40 (4 times the amount I was expecting to pay!). She told me to email [email protected] if I wanted to discuss with the owner.I did end up emailing my experience only to receive several rude replies from the owner, Gordon Haber. Talking down to me like I didnt know anything about bicycles and tried to convince me that installing my bottom bracket was a 45 minute job!! That made me laugh a lot. But it was very condescending and insulting to be treated like an idiot. Clearly this shop does not care AT ALL about their customers. Only here in prime Lake O spot to take peoples money. Sad because its close to me and I could use a LBS every now and then. Guess Ill have to keep traveling further out.

One of the best experiences I’ve had at a bike shop. I was immediately greeted by three employees and I let them know my situation, their mechanic stopped what he was doing and looked at my bike while I was in the shop. Not only did he install a new wheel but he also checked my shifting cables and installed a new brake caliper as well. Truly an amazing experience, 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Clearly one of the worst experiences purchasing a bike I have ever witnessed. The first time in my search to replace my bike I gave to my son, I was looking for a particular bike and they had it on the floor. The store was empty and no one was interested in helping me buy this bike I was holding in my hands looking at the counter. I set the bike down and left with no recognition from the staff that I was there. My son encouraged me to return and give them another chance. I was ignored to the point where I had to announce loudly to the room that I needed help. This was quite rude and I apologized but I did get service. The bike was close to 2k and had parts hanging off of it unfastened. It also was greasy dusty and was clearly ridden. After purchasing I asked to have it prepared for sale and I would be picking up for sale the next morning. They immediately took it to the repair area and began working on it. I came the following morning close to noon and they handed me the bike dirty with the same parts hanging unfastened. The tires were low, they didnt size the seat to fit, they didnt offer to do anything. If this were my shop I would have fired each and everyone. Lake side is a joke. I patronized a local business and they gave me the middle finger. Brick and mortar stores are disappearing and this one needs to go as well. I will buy online next time. Good luck lakeside, you desperately need it.

As a lifelong cyclist I would not recommend anyone go to Lakeside Bicycles. After giving them hundreds of dollars in service for maintenance and upgrades, I deeply regret ever taking my bikes there. First let me say that I have two rather expensive Pinarello’s that together cost 6 times as much as my car. So I can be a little particular about their care. Price aside, I honestly love to ride and live to ride. The first time I took one of my bikes there, the bike came back to me in bad shape. The handle bar was crooked, the groupset was not on properly, and the bike was not tuned. After taking my new Dogma out for its first ride ever, the chain came off and damaged my carbon frame. Having patience for these types of things I only asked for the issues to be resolved. But they were not resolved. After one of the mechanics there stripped one of the screws connecting my seat to my frame, I naturally became concerned. Another mechanic explained that he had experience drilling out screws from carbon frames, and that he would be the person for the job. The mechanic told me that he himself would do the work required to get the job done correctly. Sadly this would never happen. The management here are rude and disrespectful. They lack the ability to think outside the box and truly have no empathy or commonsense. I was told that I could not request a particular mechanic and the phone was hung-up on me. So I waited several months and tried again. I made an appointment with a mechanic who explained the person I requested could do the job. After speaking with management I was called back and told “Under no uncertain terms can you request a person to do a job”. Done. This is not a business that we should have in our community, and hopefully others will see this honest review and go elsewhere. Collectively we should demand better and hold others accountable for misleading or betraying our trust. I truly regret trusting them so I take that upon myself. Perhaps others will take my advice and find another bike shop. If you care about integrity do not go to Lakeside Bicycles.

I have always felt that Lakeside Bicycles is an excellent shop. First, I have always had a good experience in the shop. The customer service is great. I am newer to bicycling and know more about running, but everyone here is friendly and helps me get what I need. Second, the mechanics have repaired my old bicycle a few times and done a great job. Third, everyone has great technical knowledge.I recently purchased an excellent bicycle here. Sam helped me and did a really good job with selecting models for me to test (they had an excellent selection in my price range and size). He was patient with all of my questions. I was able to test the models without feeling pressured to buy a particular one. Most importantly, he helped make sure that I got the proper fit. The mechanic Kyle (?) made sure everything was setup and ready to go before I went home (so I could skip my run and go for a ride instead).Plus, they also have an impressive selection of clothing and accessories.

Brought my bike in to get new tires, an old 70s bike, the man replaced the tires on the spot in a decent time. Not an expensive bike like the ones they had there and I felt like they were kind of making fun of my cheap old bike, that could have just been my perception though. Another man there was very nice and friendly and was answering our questions about all the different bikes in the shop while we were waiting.

I am telling all my cycling friends to go to Lakeside! I had the best customer service I have ever had at a bike shop! I usually get friendly service at other shops, but these folks went above and beyond. They were not only friendly, but they had a great selection of inventory and they told it to me straight. The manager was even willing to bring in her pedals to help me with a test ride. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt like they were rolling out the red carpet.Their prices may be on the high side, but they are willing to price match any local shop and sometimes its worth it to spend a few extra bucks. Competent and friendly service when shopping for a bike makes it so much easier...and even fun, which is how it should be!Thank you Lakeside!

Went in to buy cleats. The guy working there was creepy, rude and argumentative. *** Update, the employee was not warning me about road cleats, I bought them at SoulCycle for an indoor spin class. He was telling me that spin was a technical term that he did not understand. I was simply asking for information about cleats. I am new to spin (which is indoor cycle classes for those who apparently dont know) and it was obvious that he was annoyed that a non-road bike person was coming into his shop. He was being rude and argumentative. Im sorry, Im new to the sport and I had no idea of the hierarchy. Just trying to heal from a recent surgery, I was told that riding a bike would help. Until this interaction, I have had nothing but warmth and kindness from persons surrounding this sport. So to anyone reading, try Google, theres plenty of info and pleasant people online.

I am a novice and beginner to bikes in general. I ordered a bike online and had them build it and fit me for the new bike. I chose Lakeside because after calling almost 15 different bicycle shops they were by far the most helpful, respectful, and extremely professional shop. There was an issue during my initial fitting with the seat stem not adjusting properly and instead of doing a quick fix they took the time to do it properly and make sure things were safe and fit correctly. Each time I came in they they greeted me like I was part of a team, Amy initially helped me and then Gordon and Bre did the rest and they were all so kind and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone with any bike needs. They were completely fair with all their prices on fitting and building the bike and didnt try to sell me on anything unnecessary. Thanks guys, look forward to bringing my bike in for tune ups!

They are a bit expensive for wheelbuilds compared to other bike shops I have been too, they did do a better job that those other bike shops I have been to though. I also got my cranks installed there. They put the cranks on the wrong side which is infuriating (I am hoping they fix it for free). They also charged 45 dollars to put cranks on when it was already halfway done. Overall I have had a good experiance going to this bike shop and I would recomend it over the other ones in the area. My only complaint is the silly mistakes they made like the one mentioned above. The great service and really friendly people make up for it though
