Best shooting range in the area! Sucks they don’t stock anything but if you know what you want they will get it for you fast and at a good price.

Talked with one of their staff members over the phone. I wanted to know about their prices. Staff member was rude, pushy and seemed very indifferent about helping me. Wont even do business if thats how they are going to treat people over the phone.Response: It still doesnt excuse employees being rude. I work in a hospital and Im always busy, but Im not rude to my patients because Im busy. Judging by the highly professional response from the owner here, I can see that they also dont take criticism very well either. Guess this place is just imbued with rude people, from the employees all the way up to the owner.

Great range, definitely the nicest in the area, and you can shoot rifles! KAP has electronic target retrievers so you know how far away your target is without guessing. Kenny puts a lot of work into keeping the range looking its best, plus he has an awesome selection of guns and great pricing on ammo.

Me and my sons really like shooting here . Very nice staff but if i could make suggestion a little more light over shooter would be nice .My fiber optic dont pick up very well. But that being said still very nice shooting lanes

Wonderful range, very clean, Great selection and if you need anything they will order it quick! Pretty much the best prices to be found, or as good as any Ive ran into in the area. Did I mention their concealed carry courses are EXCELLENT! What more do you need?

As a first time buyer, I had a great experience. I received honest and thorough answers to all my questions. I did not feel pressured to purchase the latest and greatest models. I will be taking advantage of private lessons and the gun range based on the customer service I received.

I recently purchased a pistol from KAP Guns and the staff is amazing. The owner is always around and willing to talk taking an active roll in his shop, and the staff is really knowledgeable. The range is small, 5 lanes but is very up to date, great ventilation system and electronic target system. You can reserve a lane in the shooting range so that you are guaranteed a spot on their website.

I had a bad experience with another gun-shop prior to coming to here. (Biglinny firearms in Belvidere, IL is the bad gun shop... please avoid them like the plague!) so I decided to give local gun shop KAP Guns a try. I went there intending on purchasing my first handgun, for self-defense/conceal carry. I was impressed with their stock and selection of handguns/pistols. They dont have many revolvers or other gun types. I saw a few rifles, AR-15s, couple shotguns on the wall, etc.. But for pistols, they have it all. The people there were perfectly nice and friendly, willing to answer questions. They didnt try and sell me an overpriced or over the top gun, but rather accommodated my need for a high quality, lower-priced/high value practical/concealable sidearm. Just like anything that is sold online versus sold at a brick and mortar retail store, things are a little more expensive at a retail location. There are pros and cons to buying online vs buying in person at a gun shop. If youre like me, then youll feel good about supporting a small/locally owned business that is pro-gun.

Went shooting today for the first time at Kap Guns .Very professional staff and good inside shooting range. Very reasonable prices to reserve. I highly recommend and will definitely return.

Nice small selection of firearms (mostly handguns though which can be had for much cheaper purchasing online).Courteous staff (except for owner, has always seemed to have a chip on his shoulder).The one time I went to use the range, the user before me took over an hour which delayed my entrance to the lane I had already paid for and once Im in shooting, 40 minutes in maybe, staff walks in and proceeds to tell me my time is almost up and I have about 5 minutes left.Needless to say, I didnt even get my hours worth and with the confined tight quarters, I didnt feel the need nor the desire to go back.

I took a class of my students to this range for a qualification shoot. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the store, friendliness of the staff, and found the range to be very modern and impressive. Yes, its only a 5 lane range, but its top shelf. Ill look forward to bringing my students there again.

HEY CHRIS, lighten up. YES, KAP Guns has been robbed 3 (count them, THREE TIMES) in the past few months. Thugs have targeted the place, and because of what I feel is politics, this store has not been protected as well as it could have been. I heard their alarm system was ignored by those who were paid to monitor it. Give these guys a break.You typed out that you care about our Second Amendment Rights. Dont jump all over a place just because of an older listing on the inter-web. With all the insanity going on out there, we need all the good guys that we can find.

I was there last weekend; my daughter and I were shooting. The owner came in yelling and cussing at us for accidentally shooting the ceiling. He made us pay 50 dollars for the damage; I understood and paid it. However, an hour later he called and demanded me to pay another 250 dollars and then banned us from returning to his establishment. The guy is a crook and a racist.

Fist off, there is a Barrett .50cal on display! Hells Yeahs! Shooting range is everything you want for pistol firing. But considering the range is self service, and users pick up their own brass, the cost ($20+) is more about the lack of ranges in Rockford, than the bottom line cost of maintenance plus reasonable profit.

Just came from Kap Guns it was my 2nd visit. The 1st time went well and had no problems (except it was 80 degrees and felt like 90 in the range). This time however a customer complained that my wife had brought the gun from the lane to the bench, unloaded and safe, without being in a case, which I had done also this time and the time before. A sign is posted that says No Uncased Guns from point to point. OK, I didnt understand it, thinking it meant not to carry firearms into the range uncased, my bad. By this time I had rivers of sweat running off me to the point I couldnt see through my glasses for the fogging. IT IS VERY HOT IN THIS RANGE! Granted it was 90 degrees today but I paid good money to not have to shoot in these conditions. So after being chastised we decided it was time (only 30 minutes into our hour) to leave, having lost 5lbs and being embarrassed.Two of the target transports (ours and another one) did not work properly. If they air condition that range and get there target shuttle working I might return.

I consider myself a regular at their range. I enjoy the level of competency of the staff and the high quality products present that accomodate from the newest shooter looking for a starter gun, a fashionable low-recoil purse gun for ccw, or higher end precision USPSA level STI pistols. I appreciate that they allow ammo from outside their range but I find their range ammo to always be reasonably priced and Id rather give them the business. The online reservation is an excellent mechanism to assure there this a spot for you at the range. The range is a very techy and aesthetically-designed 5 stall 25 yds range, well lit, and yes, at times it can get a little toasty, but usually that coincides with high humidity and temp outside, in my opinion. I read some of these reviews and laugh. Haters gonna hate, I guess. This place is worth your time. If you walk in and want to talk shop about guns, ask questions and learn something new, and be willing to consider that they can out shoot just about anyone, pay attention, and you will leave a smarter, better shooter than you arrived. Cant say that about every gun shop. Kudos guys.

Looks good and has good range but someone has made the horrible decision to lock the place at 5PM, most Americas work 9-5. No way I can come see it at 5. Ive tried a few times but they lock up early. Plus closed on sunday, you guys are like the o lu place with a rifle range here closed on sunday. Big minus from the local gun owners Wed rather have you guys push one hour behind and open late and then have you working till 6PM and close a day in the week but be available on OUR days off when we want to come out and Špend our money, otherwise Bullet stop and Gilmores takes your business. Thank you!

Was in there one time with a friend and another guy came in and asked one of the owners a question he was not a gun person the owner proceeded to belittle the guy with his stupid comments and attitude. Sorry this made up my mind and my friends to go somewhere else have not been back since.
