Restaurants should be able to give accurate wait times for food to be ready, and that includes email notifications. If we place an order for pick-up, and are told our order will be ready at a specific time, there is absolutely no reason it should take 40 minutes longer than that time. We couldve waited at home before coming out to pick this up.The order in question had a pastry that was in stock when ordered, but ran out before they fulfilled our order. Rather than notify us of this shortage, they made us wait 40 minutes longer AFTER ARRIVING to pick up our food, without telling us the cause. I had to call in 3 times to get anyone to answer me as to why we were still waiting.People were showing up and leaving with their orders in minutes while we waited. And not a single person working there cared enough to tell us WHY we were waiting. They acted affronted when we were curious about our wait time, which is really upsetting. If someone had simply told us that there was a pastry out, we couldve said skip it and moved on with our lives. Id much rather miss out on part of our food than be ignored and talked down to. Even with that entire ordeal, they STILL sent us home without the second pastry we ordered, not even the one that was supposed to be in the oven. We just wanted a damn breakfast.
My scone was good coffee too. My problem is service and pricing. This place is not set up well to grab a quick coffee to go. They work all there tickets in order. So if you order a single hot coffee you wait awhile behind all the other big orders in front of you. Also they have only one size coffee cup and is small maybe 10-12 oz at most. They charge 4 bucks for it! That’s higher then Starbucks.I get a Philz coffee in Chicago 16oz for the same price and it’s a pour over my choice of bean. What I had was already brewed.I won’t be back but they don’t need my money looks like they have plenty of business!
Yes yes yes! The coffee, the food, & the service is absolutely amazing every time. A few weeks ago, we lost power during a storm. They let us charge our phone while having breakfast & sent us with cookies & well wishes to help get through the day. Needless to say, we’ve been back several times since then. So thoughtful & highly recommend!
Had a delicious breakfast from here this morning! I got the breakfast burrito with bacon and a cold brew. When I had that firstbite, it was a religious experience! I cannot remember the last time I had something that delicious!
Great food. No inside dining at the time. A bit pricey.
I was meeting someone for coffee and was pleasantly surprised how adorable this cafe was. I was expressed that they have their own parking lot so you do not have to park on the street. When I was here, I had great vibes about this place. Its a pretty small building but manages to fit a few dozen people without feeling crowded. They also have a lot of outlets and coloring books which is awesome too!
Good breakfast plate. Nice mint honey bush tea.
The Living Room is a place where I dont visit that often but whenever I do its always a pleasant experience.Tucked away in Maplewood, The Living Room provides a wonderful spot to work, eat and get a wonderful cup of coffee. While you wait you could grab a book or knit which is one of my favorite things to do.Service is also on point and it is always nice striking up a conversation with those that work there. AA couple of highlights of the food Ive experienced:Coffee: the Latte Maria is amazing. The flavors of orange and cinnamon really pull throughFood: the homemade bagels with homemade cream cheese and the parfaits is delicious. Getting honey with the parfait adds the nice added touch if you like sweetness.Lastly, the one thing that I really enjoy about the Living Room is the sign that is by the store that says All are Welcome. Ive noticed that some employees there have disabilities and it really warms my heart as someone who has a sibling with a disability knowing that there are places willing to give everyone the chance to work.Thank you for being awesome
One of my favorite places to go in St. Louis, delicious food and drink options. The staff are also incredibly helpful and friendly. Recommend ordering ahead unless you go right when they open, as it does get very busy and the wait can get long.
Nice little place. Food was good. The portions were the right size. Took a little bit to get our food. But it was sunday brunch time on a nice day. So to be expected.
Food is t and service is good. But get it to go or go elsewhere. The place is always over crowded, there’s nowhere to wait for a seat and people hold on to their seats even if they aren’t eating
The original Living Room. Not far off the Maplewood Main Street, but quaint and quiet. Small, cozy little venue with only a handful of tables inside and about the same number on their patio. This location actually has meal choices for both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast is not your classic American fried stuff breakfast, but they do a top notch job with soft boiled eggs, which is not usually my thing. Staff if friendly and the crowd is not too hipster.
Awesome home-made food with a delicious amount of healthy choices!! Mimosa was good too!!
Always so delicious and such a treat to eat here!
Absolute delight! High end experience for a reasonable price in a pretty setting.
This is, hands down, my favorite coffee shop. The crew is always friendly & helpful. They have worked hard to keep their customers happy during the pandemic craziness. Their food is delicious, their pastries are scrumptious, and their coffee is top notch! Thank you!
Outdoor seating, wonderful staff, great coffee!
I dont drink coffee but I love their food. The sesame salad is my favorite, Ive probably ordered it 6 times in the last 2 months! Im glad they are open for outdoor seating now.
Great lates, and breakfast and lunch items. Strongly suggest their cinnamon rolls on the weekends!
Great food with generous portions. Good service at outdoor picnic tables.
Food is great and the bitz cold coffee is the best in STL. I go there at least once a week.
Kyoto Cold Brew was one of the best cups of cold brew Ive had in a very long time. Amazing service and great social distancing setup.
Chill vibes, solid coffee, good food. They bake bread that reminds me of my grandmas
One of my favorite coffee places, visit 2-3 times a week and love their food. Their contactless pick up is easy and fast.
Fun and creative coffee flavors
Eli is a wonderful batista! Show him some love with tips! Super comfortable little coffee shop with an outdoor fireplace. A little treasure in Maplewood! Great place for a cute date.
They do not accept Debit cards, too much political bias
Awesome local place. Crazy fresh roasted coffee
Living Room is always amazing. Great food, great service, and theyve done the best they can with their outdoor space. Theyve turned a parking lot into a really cute patio!
If youre looking at the photos of food and wondering if its worth it, let me tell you, it is. We had the southwesty and the spinach artichoke sandwiches 🤌 delicious. So damn good. Our lattes were also excellent. I highly recommend this café.
Excellent place for a quick lunch. Great food and special coffees all served safely and quickly. Loved how there were many options to enjoy our lunch outside.
Food is consistently tasty as is the coffee. the staff is also nice. Not sure theyd serve me if I told them my political views though….
Great food and drinks. Staff is amazing and super friendly
The service was lovely & their breakfast was amazing. Going here for coffee or light fare is highly recommended!!!!
Great coffee shop! Wonderful patio for morning hangs.
Good service, nice outdoor patio, great food
Absolutely fantastic coffee with vegetarian breakfast sandwiches and burrito. Best coffee cake ever. Bonus...free WiFi while enjoying your purchase.
The bloody Mary is awfully spicy but the sproda is great!
For those reading this during the Covid pandemic, they have an excellent set up to maintain social distancing even while dining outside. The food and coffee is also excellent.
Go for the bread!!! Its divine.
Living Room used to be my go-to brunch place. But now their menu is kinda limited and only allows takeout and patio seating. I miss the old menu and the vibe ...
Maplewood Gem. Always good.
Great workplace breakfast sandwich.
Delicious food, cozy environment and community-focused people. I love supporting businesses like this, especially when it’s so tasty!
Friendly staff and tasty breakfast food (enjoyed the sausage quiche). Limited inside seating so I tend to take food to go or sit outside when the weathers nice. (Though honestly, Id stand and eat if I had to.. the foods that awesome)
Awesome food. Very reasonable prices. Only negative is not enough seats. Would recommend. Just go early.
Nice selection of food made in house. Owners are present and working which is instant credibility. Bread fantastic. Chili has great texture, but Id rather have pureed tomatoes instead of halves or quarters. The bowl of fruit was all grapes. They were good but more variety, please. Didnt have coffee this time, but next time Ill make it a point. Smells good, looks good
Love this place. really good for grabbing a drink and doing some work. breakfast sandwiches are bomb too
I love this place to pieces. So much! Great to go for a small place tucked away from the busy streets. They have great food and such character. There are even coloring books on the table! I love this place so much and wish I could go here more often.
Don’t go. Seriously, just go across the street. The customer service is horrible. Seems like they have completely forgotten how to make coffee.
Nice ambience. Unfortunately, the business plan seems to lack. Not sure who buys flowers when going for a cup of coffee. Flowers are perishable and were left out of the refrigerator. I asked for food, was told they only has chocolate chip cookies. Their loss, I don’t eat chocolate chip cookies. Asked for a cup of coffee, they did not have cream and I only found sugar (no splenda, nor honey..).They did not even know the specifics of the coffee they were serving.I had to wait a long time for the sister to go buy creamer. Then, I saw the sister in a corner busy with her cellphone. This is a nice place that will have to make some changes in the way they run it or I will not be able to return.
Very local and unique feel with great food and vegetarian options. The food takes a second to be prepared as everything is made to order, but order a coffee while you wait and it will be well worth it.
Great food and specialty drinks.
Biscuits are honestly the best I have ever eaten! Really enjoyed the smoked egg sandwich also. Highly recommend!
The smoked egg sandwich is to die for and Ive been dreaming of the salad dressing on the side salad. It takes a lot to impress me with salad. I will be back!
We were from out of town but the staff gave great recommendations and the coffee was 👌 superb! If im back in St. Louis I plan on visiting again!
Delicious
Just move to the neighborhood, and found this great little spot. So cozy, the food and service were great. Ill definitely be back!!
Living Room is one of my favorite neighborhood coffeehouses! The coffee is delicious and their food is GREAT! This is a great spot to come for a bite, just to grab a coffee, or to hangout and read or do work for a bit. It is cozy and inspiring to be here.Try the salted honey latte - it is so good!Only downfall is that you can get whiffs of the meat shop next door at times, which is a bummer since all of Living Rooms goodies and coffees smell lovely.
Nice ambience. Outside area for nicer weather. Limited menu. Fresh and very good.
Limited seating. Amazingly seasoned potatoes, crisp toast and jam. I would post photos but I ate it too quickly.
Great atmosphere, even better coffee and food! I would highly recommend taking a trip to visit.
They are very accommodating to your special mods, very friendly, and serve wonderful food, as well as provide a clean, comfortable and inspirational environment. I do not live in St. Louis, or I would go there often. It is such a refreshing change from corporate American restaurants. I love this cafe!
Took well over an hour to get the food
This place sucks! I don’t understand the rating it got from the Google reviews! My first time and definitely my last time going there was my worst breakfast experience ever! The person who took our order was beyond rude! She asked me whether I want coffee w refill option and I emphasized on the refill because I’m a coffee person. She didn’t ask if I want my receipt (I wish I had asked for it). She gave me a small mug for regular coffee. When I asked for a refill, she denied that I have paid for the refill and I have to pay again if I want coffee!!! Plus they overcharge you for a simple and small breakfast! I think because they are a super small cafe and have to make a profit somehow, but being rude is something I never put up with. What an ugly experience and waste of money!
Very bad food. Not good service. Overpriced. Hip atmosphere. If you’re hungry, do not go. If you want coffee and a cool place to sit, go.
Most of their breakfast options have soft boiled egg or two soft boiled eggs. Was in the mood for breakfast but opted for lunch as we do not want soft boiled eggs. The side salad dressing was very spicy and with heavy garlic, would by nice to have an option.? Very limited menu and seating is tight 4 tables inside.
My favorite local coffee shop - the cutest place, nicest people, tastiest coffee and treats.
Best coffee in the area, and food is good as well. Small space indoor but outdoor seating in the warmer months.
I had the vegan falafel sandwich and it was fantastic. The service is always great and so is the food. I visit this coffee shop frequently.
Excellent quality beans, proper roasting and careful preparation apparently must be important, because this place has amazing coffee! My favorite is the Kyoto brew with the Kenyan beans. Wow! I had no idea coffee could taste this good until now. I almost forgot, their baked goods and food are excellent as well. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly as well.
Listen, the place is uncomfortably small, all of the dishes, cups, utensils smell like fish, there is no ice for some reason, the employees are rude (except for one of the girls I spoke to)- the food is dry, and old. Cute drawings and kids paintings adorn the walls, but that doesnt make up for the horrible execution of concept. Oh yeah- they use a tip-at-register system. Do they not pay their employees? Why would I tip someone to take an order- I dont tip McDonalds employees, why are they asking for tips?
Heaven for me is being at the Living Room early on a snowy morning. If I had to pick a last meal I would pick the workday sandwich. The food is phenomenal, the atmosphere is incredibly cozy and warm, and the staff is always extremely friendly and accommodating. Patio is pet friendly as well!
The Living Room is easy to miss, and not super visible unless you are looking for it. Look for the umbrellas. The space is small, 4 tables and two long counter tops. The interior is beautiful, complete with fresh flowers, very much a stand out. The staff is helpful and the coffee is good. Didnt try the baked goods, but they look great!
Had a great lunch at Living Room today. Custom strawberry/lemon soda and chicken salad sandwich with a small arugula side salad. The soda was a tad too sweet, so I would ask for less syrup next time. The chicken salad was really good - with nuts and grapes on fresh bread. Yum!! Next time Ill have to try coffee.....
Fantastic coffee and the food was delicious! Their salad is excellent! I never knew a gluten free cookie could taste soooooo good.
Great service, delicious food... especially like the smoked egg sandwich and excellent lattes!
Coffee was fantastic. Great laid back atmosphere. Not much of a kids menu but willing to accommodate which is a plus. Had their quiche which was amazing as well
Pretty good experience all around. Very nice soft boiled eggs and most of the menu is freshly prepared in-house. Only complaint could be that the menu is limited but everything on it is great as far as I know.
I really like this place. Great ambiance, the food was delicious. The coffee wasn’t anything special in my opinion and I think the prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get. I still think this a cool place to go for a solo breakfast or with one other person since the place is pretty small.
This is my new favorite brunch/lunch spot. If you are a coffee or tea lover, youll love this place. If you are a breakfast person, youll love this place. If youre looking for a really, really good salad or sandwich, youll love this place! Its cozy and cute, and the food is fantastic.
Its OK but no need for second visit. Not a lot of options for someone doing low carb. Iced tea was expensive for no refills.
Very good coffee, if a bit pricey. Nice place for a light breakfast; I had a toasted cheese and my husband had workaday. The bread is very good and the sandwiches nicely made. Make sure to have the mixed greens and shortbread cookie. Plenty of parking. Glad we stopped by.
