Went in specifically for snacker sandwiches and they were out. 8:45pm, so went to deli to have them cut some deli meat so I could make my own, and they told me they couldnt cut anymore meat. I work 3rd shift so I dont go shopping till later in the evening and its like Im punished for shopping that late. Guess Ill go to hyvee or down the road to the other cub next time
Trash. Customers and employees are rude, the produce and meat department are the lowest quality, the prices are too high for the cleanliness of the store. There is an Aldi (best prices, excellent quality) and a new Hy-Vee (very high quality produce, meat, BAKERY, deli, but a little more expensive in some cases but not all) within 6 blocks. Even the Cub Foods just north about a mile on White Bear and 694 is 2 times better than this Cub. It feels like a food shelf on the south side of Chicago. They could up their game with the right manager and at least some investment in the facility and hiring employees that dont act like you are bothering them. Note: there are some exceptional employees there, but they are limited by the ghetto facility. Also, the garden tent is good when it is there, although overpriced compared to others.
This has been my Cub for as long as I have been alive and my parents have shopped here nearly every week for almost forty years now. Overall it is a good store but it increasingly depends on when you go. Know that I am writing this review with an understanding of the fluctuations in staff and changes over the years, not based on a few experiences, and the trends have stayed pretty steady throughout those years. First, the people who work there in the morning have always (and still are) amazing. The cashiers are friendly and helpful, the store is usually pretty clean, and we have never had an issue with returns or price adjustments when there are errors. There are a few cashiers who have been there for a very long time and are consistently amazing (I am bad with names, but I think it could be Cindy). On the very few occasions we have had concerns great enough to feel the need to call and report them to management, they are always respectful and helpful (I am a firm believer that a store should never be judged on a single interaction with a single employee, but how management responds is important). That being said, I try to avoid this Cub as much as possible at night. The number of employees is generally sparse and there are sometimes people who just hangout in the parking lot. Here lately I have noticed that when I go at night (9-10pm) it is mostly teenage cashiers who dont pay you much attention, rather talk among themselves with management doing very little to supervise. There was even a night not too long ago where there was a group of teenagers more or less playing go-carts with the driving carts meant to be used by people who are physically unable to walk around the store. They were driving up and down the isles (without masks) and chasing each other with them; although there were Cub employees around, nobody said or did anything about it. All and all, this is not the fanciest Cub around but it a good place to shop, especially during the days.
Prices are insane! I can’t believe they can get away with what they charge for most things here. Staff seem like they’re in another world, ignoring shoppers that are in aisles. Only go here when I absolutely have to.
Pretty convenient location. They def carry a lot of different items, wide variety of foods that they serve personally also. The selection of fresh sea food is amazing. Not always too crowded and the machines work most times then not, unlike some locations. I will definitely be a repeat customer here.
The food is very good and quality and staff is very friendly and helpful if you cant find anything
Not bad, a little small feeling
I just did my shopping at Cub in Maplewood where I normally shop with no problems. But today was another story. I did my shopping and when I got to the checkout, the belt quit working and I had to push everything up manually to the checkout clerk. I was so busy doing that so I forgot to have her scan my Cub card. She also never asked for it. Then the belt started working until I started bagging my items and it stopped. iAd to walk back and forth to get my groceries. The clerk closed down the lane after checking me out. When I was almost done bagging almost $200 of groceries, another checkout lady came over and turned it on and it worked. She said my checkout lady turned it off. So I worked much longer and harder and also didn’t get my coupons deducted. No one apologized for the belt even when they saw all the work I was doing. Not happy at all. Very poor service.
This cub isn’t as good as it used to be. All of the employees are always on their phone and most of them are disrespectful. The only good ones I’ve encountered are Ade, Zach, Aaron, and Jason. Needs new staff who are respectful!!
Would be a 4 to 5 star. I frequent this location. Recently bought cubed steak 2 days ago to eat today. Bit into a really hard piece and look at it, copper color on one side and whitish on the other. I have a picture of it, comparing to a penny. I asked the meat department and they said they use stainless steel. Didnt really care to hear what I said... And I fed this to my 4 year old not knowing beforehand. i just hope that was the only piece..
Fill up my 5 gallon water jugs here and love that there are two spouts.
While they have a good stock of various foods and okay prices the real problem I have is with the management and employees.Ive gone into this store several times over the last few months since its my regular grocery store and have been absolutely shocked by the lack of sanitation. Especially in the self check out lanes. The people watching the self check out lanes almost never, and I do mean NEVER, seem to clean the registers or pay terminals. Even though they clearly have cleaning supplies at the stand they stay at. They dont clean in between customers or even at slow times when there are no customers. At least not that Ive ever seen. This is seriously disheartening, especially since the Target just down the street does a much better job of cleaning between people and in slow moments. The target even cleans the carts. But the lack of sanitation from a grocery store is unexcusable at this time and very disappointing.
This Cub is the worst. High prices, low-quality produce, empty shelves. If you dont mind higher prices, head to Hy-Vee instead. At least they have great quality. Otherwise, stick with Target or Aldi.
Well stocked, large selection of food, beverages & other types of merchandise. I shop here frequently.
I love Cub. I go there for everything. Fresh quality produce. Good selection of meat. Love the discounted managers specials in the meat department! The St Paul location on Rice Street off Hwy 36 has amazing fresh popcorn!! Friendly helpful staff. Clean store. Plenty of free parking.
There was a girl her name started Von. I cant remember the rest. She was the sweetest girl I ever met. Me and this old man were moving really slow so she bagged our food. Personality plus. She should be the President.
Manager Alec was a great help today!! He went above our expectations for help
This place was nice. Amazing selection of sushi and I could easily find stuff. Not the cleanest store but definitely cleaner than some others.
Cubs has the best employees. I mean the lady in the bakery (name start with a K...Kristin?) Did a great job helping us out and went beyond. She really deserves the 4 star. The cake was delicious and fresh. Decorated beautifully. Had to go to the Clarence St location to get balloons blown up and even there the employee (Xue) was outstanding. Thanks keep up the good work. 🦋🏆
Very poor experience with the Some of the Pharmacy staff very rude... Been going there for years and I have seen the store prices go up and Target prices go down in the last couple of years. The place has changed and some of the staff just rude and not willing to help you out when needed. Spent a lot of money in that store but after what happened with the Pharmacy. I will go else where. I used to enjoy going there but there is no place for rudeness...
Wow. Great people here. The staff I mean. The bathrooms for men are always very well kept and I love shopping here in general. Good selection of everything in my opinion. I love the rib tips that got here in the deli area. Other cub foods aint got em!
This Cubs groceries are pretty decent. My complaint lies with the employees. Especially the cashiers and the women that works the quick check out Lane. They have a way of making me feel like DIRT . Like Im some huge bother. I have tried to ignore it and go about my day. I just cant shop there any more and Im sure those employees could care less. But I need to find a different grocery store.Good luck !
88 cents a pound for half a watermelon come on thats no deal. Customer service eh at best
Most disgusting women’s toilets ever! It’s like they’ve never been cleaned... I decided to hold it till I get home.
Very clean location, nice and quiet. The carts rolled smooth as babies bottom! :) HahahahaParking lot has lots of space could use a good cleaning though. Keep up the good work!
Clean & friendly service 😆
Had to put an order in for a bunch of food for my sons birthday party and the deli department was awesome and helped me out and I got the best deal and Best Buy for my buck.
I love how Cub is laid out to match all their stores! I also love how they have all their Frozen organics in a couple freezer doors that are clearly labeled all around the door with some stickum tape labeled organic organic organic! Same with gluten-free! Great price on tombstone pizzas!! 😋
Prices are decent. Produce is fresh. Selection is good, when its stocked (which is never).Theyve been coasting on a competition-free environment for too long, and theyre not that good.Itd be nice if I could go in on a Saturday morning and count on them having bananas in stock. Or milk on a Sunday night. Or bread on a weekday.Id shop here more if I didnt have to also stop by Target or Aldi on the way home to pick up the stuff that Cub didnt have on the shelf that day.As it is, its unacceptable.
Great employees!!
Love this grocery store! Really great selection and friendly cashiers.
I enjoy being able to find smaller packages of meat here! Easy to buy just 1 chicken breast or small steak. Helps save money and less food waste for me!
It amazes me that this location does not stock and or keep enough in stock Gallon Kemps chocolate chip ice cream. Maybe 3 out of 10 visits to this location has resulted in having the ice cream I want. This location and another nearby cub foods did not have it.... again. It was supposed to be on sale so I would think that they would have it. I didnt know this was such a uncommon flavor of ice cream. Please if you want to keep me as a customer, just order a few more in the daily ordering and have it in stock.
This is the fourth time I have ordered a cake with buttercream frosting and they decided to put whipped topping on it. Never again am I ordering a cake from this cub foods ever again. Either people need to listen a little bit better or come from behind the counter to talk to the customer without being surrounded by sounds
Its a grocery store where you can find most things you need. I like their Asian section; saves me the trip to the Asian store for the simple items needed (to make sushi). The place is way too crowded for my liking. Its great that its open all day and night. The gas savings program was great when it first started. But then the program changed and you earn points for cents A LOT slower. Its to the point that I dont shop here as often anymore. Only been to Cubs about 3-4 times a year.
Goods deals for members in a clean store. The only problem we experienced was that we were not members of their cub club and staff was not helpful in getting us the discount prices for our one time visit as we live several states away.Other customers were experiencing the same issue.
I have been a faithful Cub shopper for years even though their prices have kept going up, You have to bag your own food as well. I wanted to support a local company. But these past few months I have seen it go down drastically! Yesterday I was checking out and the Cashier and floor supervisor were having a personal conversation. Not once did she acknowledge me and I was trying to show her I had soda on the bottom. Then the cashier next to her started talking to both of them ignoring customers all around. They were out of stock on many things as well. Hot Pockets are 2.99 at Cub when you go to Target they are 1.99 regular price. Prices keep going up and service goes down. With Target, Hyvee, Costco and Kowalskis you can find better deals and service. This Cub needs some major TLC and staff really needs to focus on customers. I dont like giving bad reviews but I have had it with this Cub. Its not my first bad day there.
Need a fast inexpensive lunch? Stop by the deli! They have a salad bar, and fried food available. Chinese (orange chicken, egg rolls, general etc.) serve yourself bar. They make cakes for weddings, birthdays and special occasions. Cub has an app as well...
Friendly staff every time we go in there. Only problem with Cub is the prices are jacked up more plus on their signage, under the sale price, they need to ENLARGE the WHEN YOU BUY 4 WITH CUB CARD or LIMIT 4.. its hard to read for anybody and I got good eyesite.
I highly recommend Cub Foods. There Deli is super delicious in their lights are so bright you should go there and see. With great deals in savings
Im not a fan of this particular cub. It has a large layout, but seems to be organized differently than all other grocery stores. I can never find what I need. Also, its always a lot busier than the other grocery stores in the area.
Cub Foods on Rice St. And Co. Rd. B(just off hwy 36) has the best Bakery and Pharmacy! The employees at this location are always friendly and very helpful!
I ALWAYS come to to the parking lot to take pictures of the sunset because its higher up and theres a wide open view. Now for actual Cub shopping. They are a little on the spendy side (the only reason I gave it 4 stars) they have terrific meat and the meat man is a cool guy, friendly, hes a conversation starter, hes polite, and really cares about Cubs customers. Shout out to Cubs Main Meat Man!Edit: august 31stThe new colored woman working at lane 5 today is so worried about the corona virus she probably shouldn’t be out and about working. She was very crazy, acting like everyone is infected with some zombie virus, even though corona have a 98% survival rate lol.
They dont stock the variety of items that some Cubs stock. So if I want something special I go elsewhere. Hyvee is a much better choice for healthy selection. Cub needs to stay stocking health foods to stay up with the times.
Place was not very crowded (8 pm on a wensday) and cashier was very helpful
Cub has become really expensive, less quality, less option, etc. No one is around to help you when you have questions. I think everyone in America has realized this as well, the only nice thing about going there, there are no lines. I love going to Hy-Vee, best place to shop for groceries.. .
Good customer service clean environment, usually stocked well. Do to popularity of the store they sometimes run out of popular items like menthol cigarettes.
Well stocked store with quite some unique products. Recommended!
Like many large supermarkets there are both good and bad points here. They do have a good selection and good prices and sales. They also keep the store clean, be careful in the bathrooms I have seen them nasty but they are quick to clean them. Pay close attention to your produce and meat they have been known I have purchased items that spoiled the next day after purchase.
Nice grocery store. Well located by a home depot, pet smart, and an auto parts store to mix and match shopping trips. Clean, well staffed, and the usual good cub foods deals
I have been going to this store in Maplewood for many years. It needs to be cleaner. And the parking lot also dirty. The cashiers are not friendly and neither are the workers. They need to smile more and be open to help. There is one cashier lately, that has been friendly and professional. The produce is 2nd grade. Yes, I will go to a different grocery store soon.
I just watched somebody walk out of the store with a cart full of items without paying for them. She made a run for it. When I told an employee they asked me if I, myself, was thinking about walking out without paying for my groceries. I dont know why they would have asked me this since I am the one telling them about another customer that just walked out without paying for the groceries!
I went to the deli once and the girl was cleaning equipment with gloves on. She asked what I wanted and took her gloves off and filled up a container with some of their home made potato salad. I noticed an open cut on her hand, but I took the food anyway after she rudely handed it to me. Another time a guy was wiping his hands on himself before preparing my food. I rejected that. Also a few times they over charged me on items. I dont know whats wrong with this place and I still go there when im in a hurry, but the Deli scares me away, and there are only certain items I will buy there. I feel its a shame that you have to make purchases at this Cub with such scrutiny. Be careful when you shop there.
I asked someone if they had an item, he went in the back to look when he came back out he said yes we have it but I am not going to get it out. What when I worked in grocery stores this was never optional if a customer wanted something that was in store they got it. Also they need to open more check out lines I feel like I stand in line to checkout longer then it takes me to shop.
I often go shopping here, and it is often clean and with nice employees.
Pretty big selection and some good deals. Their meat section is huge compared to other locations. Its like a genaric Hy-Vee, but without all the different hot food departments.
They did a good job with updating the space. We always find what we need.
It was clean but the bathroom was dirty they need to start cleaning the bathroom much better
I make every effort to shop union. I like cub foods. They are going to have to compete better though.
Convenient, good quality produce, decent selection for price and location.
My favorite Cub!The employees are knowledgeable in their particular departments, the deli, bakery and produce are always fresh and theres always a sale.Best pharmacy too - the pharmacists and techs actually take the time to learn your name and are efficient and friendly. And if you dont like longer lines dont go to this - or any grocery store for that matter - during peak hours.
All cubs kitchen are super clean take my word for it when it comes to food i dont worry about it
Im not as familiar with the layout as some other grocery stores but the typical shelved aisles were pretty self explanatory. Just couldnt find things in the bakery/deli area.
I live walmart.but there shelf were pretty enety.
Been going here for years. Good selection of food.
The fruits and vegetables are always fresh and flavorful. The meat market has wonderful cuts at very reasonable prices.
The maplewood cub i just love .. Not only that its always clean bathrooms and all . but the staff are always friendly..The best cub all the way around....
A nice grocery store. It is priced in the middle as grocery stores go. Is kept clean and has good service.
Shopping this location for years. Little more parking would be nice, but isnt that the same everywhere?
Very helpful nice employees. Very clean organized store handicap accessible.
Clean, stocked well, fresh meats and products but the lines can get long sometimes, even self check out.
Love the store some of the employees are goodness... How do i say it nicely. I dont. So i wont.
Cub foods is a clean nice place to shop, they need to drop prices a bit
I would like to give a BIG THANKS to you for donating paper bags to district 622 so we can keep getting food to all our 622 families!!! Sherri Johnson, 622 proud employee!!!
Good produce, great manager, good service, plus gas coupons
This is where I get my groceries every week, I have no complaints. As a side tip, sometimes at this location, there is discount alcohol.
I’ve gone to this cub foods for years for groceries. Tonight I had a very negative experience. While checking out I saw what I assume to be the manager on duty verbally “discipline” another employee in front of a lot of customers and other coworkers. Basically screamed at her for everyone to hear, shaming and embarrassing her and everyone around. There’s a time and a place for reprimanding an employee, and this was more abuse than anything. This ruined our experience and we will not be shopping at this cub in the future.
Well organized FriendlY staff good price
Overall this Cub Foods is fine. I wish their vegan options were more plentiful, and werent mixed in with natural foods in the freezer section.
Great meat/seafood/produce depts. Super sale prices, and ample parking. Liquor store adjacent!😀
I love shopping here all the time! this is my second fav cub foods! employees are nice and will help you all the time, the only thing that bothers me is when u ask an employee were something is and they just point where instead of showing u! i think cubs needs to work on that a little more..
Love the new format, changes, and quality seems to have gotten better.
More food selection than one really needs. Good shopping experience.
Great customer service and great products here there are a lot of choices for food products. The meat is great also has great selections.
If you need groceries youll find them all here. Clean and great service
A decent amount of power carts that are in Great shape. Roomy Isles, easy to get around.
Some items are less expensive than other places.
My favorite cub foods always good sales on stuff I purchase.
Great place to do food shopping here
Always nice and clean store. Workers are friendly and helpful. By far my favorite cub.
Great! Could have opened another lane for check out. Other than that, great!
I don’t know why people are wasting their money here! so expensive products that are double or even triple the price for the same quality in Walmart or Aldi...
They need help in the deli. I watched a lady stand there waiting to be waited on and the employee knew she was there but walked away. I decided not to buy anything because I didnt want to wait until the employee decided to come back. Cub has always needed 2 employees in customer service. People lining up getting mad because it takes to long for the line to move. Again I left and went to WalMart.
Love this grocery store
Cub food is the greatest food store and you get nice and caring people also easy service for customers
Love this cub...tbeu even have a free fruit basket for kids under 12 😊
Don’t have fresh fruit... frozen fruit then they let it set out.
Some prices are outrageous but also has some good deals.
