Our experience with BSN has been awesome. They have been patient, thorough, professional and our kitchen is amazing. We’ve been customers since they opened and go back regularly. We purchased as display and modified its layout and added to it. I’m posing 3 pics, their display, our before and after.

We worked with Mike Berry to design our kitchen and couldnt be happier with the design he came up with and what the final project came out like. The cabinets he guided us to are perfect. I am very happy we choose Builder Surplus for our cabinets and design work.

Difficult to find, with questionable loading docks. The facility is located in a not so truck friendly environment.

We purchased our countertops here and John and Loralee were so helpful throughout the whole process. We were told by them and the installers that our kitchen was a challenging one due to the size and layout. The countertops were just installed yesterday and I couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out! We chose Shadow Stone and they told us it can vary greatly from slab to slab but they did such a great job of matching up the slabs for a nice, seamless look!

Horrible experience with countertop installation. The first attempt the fabricator cut our countertop incorrectly. We had to wait an additional week to have a new slab cut. Now it is install day and we have had to follow up with them 4 separate times today to see when they are coming to install. We still don’t even have an estimate. I have two young children (2 years old and 5 months) at home and we are going on week 3 with no countertops and one sink in the house. It’s a shame because the person we worked with in store was such a help, so much so that I was planning on getting all my home renovation materials from Builders Surplus but now will take my money elsewhere.

Manager Bob and Assistant manager Patty are the best. They have been there for me with my complete kitchen renovation from demo to finish.Superb customer service. Extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommended them.I wish every kind of store would have people like them!

Love going to Builders Surplus Newport. Theres always a great selection and the people there are eager to help. I especially like looking for the small things like door handles and knobs for cabinets. You can find the best buys at a fraction of the price of the big box stores.

James and Michael provided outstanding service through the entire process from design to installation of the granite. We will definitely buy from them again and encourage anyone that wants high quality cabinets at great prices to check them out. The store is a hidden gem tucked away in Newport,Ky but well worth the trip. You wont be disappointed.

I am very pleased with the service I received at Builders Surplus. Loralee has been exceptional in helping me make decisions regarding a new vanity top and cabinet, and also new flooring for my all seasons room. I changed my mind many times, and Loralee always cheerfully worked with me. I recommend asking for her when you shop at the Newport store.

Builders Surplus is great and very Hands-On. Their team is very informational and one- on- one with customers and understanding their needs. Their seminars give you inside and up close view in understanding of the product and its use. remodeling kitchen & bath is the best way to go from personal experience. One one can beat it! If you want your home upgraded and not sure how to explain what you want, walk in Builders Surplus. They have a team of professionals that can help you capitalize on your dream home. My new Waypoint kitchen cabinets from Builders Surplus are great! I worked with designer Leticia to select and order the perfect cabinets for my kitchen. They were delivered in about two weeks. Just after Thanksgiving the installers from Builders Surplus removed my old cabinets and installed the new ones in three days. They were installed perfectly and look beautiful. The cost was reasonable. I would recommend Builders Surplus. Thanks

Purchased flooring from Builders Surplus in Newport, Ky. The installer, Comfort Home Flooring, Tyler Baldrick and his crew were wonderful. They completed the job efficiently and perfectly and cleaned up everything.

We gutted our old kitchen and asked Builder Surplus to help re-design a new kitchen. Mike H. was our designer and provided a complete design package that included several 3-D models from different view points. Mike offer insight on how to plan things(electrical, etc) that we werent buying at Builders Surplus. Overall we are very happy with our new kitchen and the service we received from Mike & Builders Surplus.

We always find great value and friendly helpful staff at the Newport Builders Surplus store weve been dreaming of an extensive kitchen remodel and have stopped in several times to pick out products to put our dream kitchen together. I cannot say enough good things about Loralee. She is a rare find in customer service these days. She goes way above and beyond exceeding expectations. Unbelievably helpful, sincerely cares.I went to the store in Louisville and found Chris there also abundantly helpful and understanding.They hosted a FREE kitchen and bathroom fair that was unbelievable. The owner was even there. I was blown away.

We ordered kitchen cabinets. All but one were in great shape. However, it is taking forever to get a replacement. We have now moved the date for our granite 3 times. Each after a promise that the cabinet would be in on a certain date. Also, we ordered a door from them. We were told 2 weeks but it is now 6 weeks out. There was no apologies and trying to get someone to call back was next to impossible. I think well look elsewhere when we redo other rooms

Really good experience. Customer service was friendly and very helpful. We got new interior doors and one of them was marked wrong but the guy caught it for us and helped us get the right one before we checked out. Will definitely be back!

I used a contractor that uses building Surplus. He gave them the dimensions of my kitchen and they gave him all the materials that they said he would need. As it turns out they did not have enough backer board that is not have enough grout and they did not have enough mortar. The cost was way more than I thought it would be. They were two bags of mortar short and 5 3 by 5 backer board short. Show my cost went up way more than $100. Although the people at Builders Surplus are very friendly very cordial and awesome, I wont go there again. Their backer board was $4 more for each three by five sheet then Lowes. I love the people but I dont love the company or the prices.

We ordered our Wellborn Select Series (Hancock door style, Dove grey color) from Mike Berry at Builders Surplus in Newport, KY.Mike was GREAT to work with - his knowledge of the products and the design software made it an enjoyable, painless process.The cabinets are excellent quality and construction. We couldnt be more pleased.Prior to ordering our kitchen cabinets from Builders Surplus, we got some custom order specialty cabinets from a big box store and the build quality was no where near as good - and the price was significantly higher. I sure wish I would have gone to Builders Surplus from the start. Ill surely be a return customer based on the price, service and quality.

Had a great experience with Builders Surplus in Newport. Needed cabinets for our new lower-level kitchen, but didnt want to go with off-the-shelf options from one of the big-box stores. Mike at Builders Surplus was super. He listened to our needs, explained the various options we could order from them, put together a design that met our needs/fit our limited space AND helped us save money.

Had the pleasure of working with Loralee. Called to make sure they had a vanity in stock and she went right away and checked for me. Once we walked into the building she asked if she could help us with anything. We told her we were looking for a vanity and she instantly knew who we were. Best unknown place to buy remodeling supplies. Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The front door I was looking to replace was 1300.00 less than the quotes I got from 8 other companies. Also, found the unfinished hardwood I wanted for living room at half the cost of other stores. I will be going back.

Where do I begin? My visit to Builders Surplus began when I was looking update my kitchen. I had gone to a very well known kitchen company and their price was going to be 30K...without my sink, knobs, countertops and floors. My sister told me to go to Builders Surplus and I am so glad I did. They designed my kitchen for FREE and after I purchased EVERYTHING my kitchen was about 11K. I live in OHIO and I pass many home stores to get to Builders Surplus. Why? Because I get great customer service!!! Everything I need is affordable and below big store prices. I tell everyone about Builders Surplus because I believe in them and by the great customer services and prices this is a company that believes in their customers. The only reason why I couldnt give them 5 is because I wish there was a store in OHIO. But they are worth the drive!!!!

We had already gotten estimates from a few local contractors for our kitchen remodel and were going to choose one of them, when a salesperson at Jared jewelry store in Edgewood told me and raved about Builders Surplus. So we decided to get one more estimate from them. Best decision ever! John Epperson was wonderful to work with. He was very patient with us as we made our decisions. Chris and his crew finished the project in record time, and we couldnt be happier. Next is our master bath!

Contractors doing jobs for them are understaffed and need training. Staff and manager are nice. Dana will refund your money if not happy. LoveMY new kitchen. Hate my entire flooring job. Nightmare 10k tile job. Started in July still not completed jobJust kitchen and floors.

Poor customer service ordered $10,000 in cabinets for kitchen. Builder Surplus would not return phone calls on getting cabinets ordered or having them come out for measurements after paying deposit for measurements of my kitchen. I believe Builder Surplus (employee Ally kitchen planner)may have made mistake in quote and did not want to honor it. They didnt even offer to requote or offer to order cabinets.This was the Newport Kentucky location. I found better quality cabinets at Home depot for less money and quality minded long term employees of home depot for installation. March 2016.

I made a purchase at Builders Surplus and enjoyed looking around and getting ideas for future projects. This was my first experience with this store and I am sure to return. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

This company or business denied my employment for a nonviolent conviction thats on my criminal record from 24 years ago. No one should have to be treated as to if they are a threat to their establishment for a mistake they made and paid dues to society for when they were 18 years old. In the interview the hiring manager liked everything about me, but after receiving my background check which isnt bad at all, the hiring manager recended his offer of employment to me. His actions towards me was incorrect and doesnt fall under the (business necessity) umberella to have just cause or a nondiscrimatory reasons to not hire me. Now this place will have to answer all the complaints that I will file for engaging in unfair and illegal employment practices. Thanks...In response to your response, well see about that next week when youre contacted by the state and federal government agencies if your hiring decision was legal, equal and nondiscrimatory!! Youll also have to answer for discrimination based on disability as well.!! To base a hiring decision of that thats not of nonviolence nor theft is just downright wrong and prejudiced. Never have I had a problem with getting hired at a job based on my background check until I applied here. I will make sure your company doesnt do this to anyone else in the future, I PROMISE YOU...

Not as much of a variety in tile as there used to be and seems to be getting more expensive I dont feel like its much of a deal anymore

Do yourself a favor and seek home improvement products elsewhere. The staff were very friendly and nice but everything else just fell apart. I ordered $6500 worth of cabinets and countertops. I ordered the white shaker cabinets specifically because they “were in stock” and I could get them faster. I was on a timeline and had to get them installed within 21 days. I received many assurances from the management that i would receive my cabinets on time and it just didn’t happen. They had to make 2 trips to my house to install because there was an “issue” with the warehouse system showing things were in stock when they weren’t. It took 8 weeks to install cabinets that I was told would take no more than 3-4. Oh and by the way, they charge you for every trip they make to your house.They had most of my cabinets in on time but wouldn’t come install them because they didn’t have them all. And then to top it off, the cabinets were hung a little to high above the sink and countertop and they charged me $350 dollars to come back out and move them down 6 inches. UNBELIEVABLE. I did receive a $575 refund due to not wanting all the cabinets i ordered but it took a month to get it. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone. The prices may draw you in (sometimes) but you’re going to be disappointed. I will never visit this store or any other builders surplus again. I’ll hunt deals elsewhere with businesses that actually help you get the job done. Two thumbs down..👎...👎

Great place to shop customer service is amazing greet you as soon as you walk in the door. Employees there are always friendly and willing to help with any project you are working on especially loralee sweet girl and very knowledgable.

I was there as a second opinion for a bathroom remodel. They seemed very knowledgeable.

Made a special trip to Newport just to check out what the store had to offer. I am getting ready to make several changes to my home. The employees didnt have the time of day for me. Believe me, it was NOT the least bit busy. I guess they dont feel like you have $$$ to spend if you are in there on a Tuesday afternoon. Guess they were wrong. I will spend my hard earned $$$ someplace that wants it.

Think twice about going here for granite. We were told that Builders Surplus would handle the demo of our tile granite tops. Not the case. After ordering and having the counters measured we were then informed that they do not do demo work in Northern KY. Also, we were told that they would not charge the amount until after the granite counter was installed. I just received my credit card bill today and got charged the amount prior to installation. If I could give them zero stars i would. Terrible customer service and totally baited and switched the terms of the contract with us. Very disappointed. Steer clear of this company unless you plan to buy the goods and do it yourself.

My husband and I decided to remodel our kitchen. With this being the first time we had done this, we honestly didnt know where to begin. When we went in the first time, we were immediately greeted by a sales person who seemed very knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions. For the next scheduled appointment, we decided to order the cabinets. He then asked us if we would like the cabinets delivered or were we going to pick them up. We asked what the delivery charge was and he seemed to look something up on the computer and he said it wouldnt cost anything, so of course, we decided to deliver. We were already impressed and happy. We started telling our friends/family how much we liked the store. However, once the cabinets came in, the person on the phone said that they dont deliver cabinets. Apparently the salesperson was very new and wasnt aware of the policies, which I feel is crucial for them to know/be trained on since they are on the front line dealing with the customers. The manager, did, however, personally deliver our cabinets to us, due to this - which we greatly appreciated. When installing the cabinets, the lazy susan (being the most expensive piece) came apart the minute we took the cardboard off of it and went to lift it. The reason was because whomever put it together used 1 inch screws, which didnt even go through to the adjoining piece, so we had to remove the completely stripped screws and put in longer ones. For the thousands of dollars that we paid for cabinets, this is unacceptable. In addition, we had asked for the countertop persons contact number, twice, so that he/she could come to measure / order / install the counter top and no one ever followed through with calling us back with that information. I even had emailed our salesperson with a question on the countertop quote that we had originally received and he never returned my email or called. We ended up going to Lowes for the exact same countertop and had it installed for less than the Builders Surplus quote. We wont be going back here again. Everyone that works there is very nice, but it just wasnt worth it to us.

Great customer service

I visited your store over a month ago to look at product for a home I plan to build for myself. I am always looking for new places to get products. While in the store I talked to most everyone there about different items. I wanted to let you know about a few things;While in the store I spoke with a guy in your cabinet area that was probably one of the best design people I have every dealt with. With being in the construction business myself, he knew a few things I would have never thought about. We spoke about my thought on the house I plan on building and the locations. He asked about the type of construction and the look I was going for overall. He quickly drew up by hand some elevations and thoughts on giving me the look I wanted and how the small tweaks would give us a better master bath and garage layout. I am not sure how you landed this guy in your store but if any of the company I know that do design stuff I will send them to find him. I would not be surprise he is being way under paid for what he could really do for you. We also went over cabinets that we are going to want for our kitchen and the look we are going for he said he would not be able to give it to me with the brands you had to offer and told me what I would lose by him trying to make it work. He told me of a few lines that could give me that look and I looked into people who carried those lines. I also spoke with the guy in tile about some of the mosaic and the ones I looked at I have seen at other places and would be cheaper. We went over to the computer and looked them up and the tiles were cheaper elsewhere. He asked the guy that said he was the store manager if your store would match the prices or beat them. The guy said no since you sold a better product and that it was cut better, I am not sure the word he called the cut process but the on the box of tile itself it said the complete opposite of what the manager said. We then looked at a few other tiles and had the same issue and was told that it was because you sold the better cut tile that it was the reason for the cost. Again the boxes stated the opposite! Also a few of the items we looked at you did not have enough stock of and when the tile guy asked if there was a time frame on when it would be coming in he did not have an answer. So I then asked is it a stock item or are all the products just surplus as your stores name hints at. I was told that flooring we was looking at was a stock item and would be refilled. So I asked again when more would come in and was told it just shows up. What kind of answer is that, first he does not match a price on a like item, tells me the wrong info more than once and cannot tell when his store would get in more products. WOW!!You had some great products and people in areas that seem to really be trying to sell items but have a manager that one needs to know what he is talking about before stating something. Needs to help his employees when they ask questions rather than give wrong/general answers from behind the desk and also give them an environment they feel safe in. I am strongly disappointed with my time wasted in your store. The few sales people I dealt with were great and tried everything they could to help me and my wife but.... I will openly tell people not to waste their time coming to the store to get product since it would not most likely filled to the amount need and that the guy running the place will be give you the correct answers on things. I would suggest you get your store manager some training he obviously needs to go around and read the information the boxes before giving out the wrong info. Check the return policy before you order from them.I ordered a lazy Susan and when I had to return it because it wasnt the right size I was told I couldnt return it because it was a Special Order Item I wasnt able to get a refund or store credit. I have no documentation from them stating that this was a Special Order Item and it couldnt be returned. Ripped off!
