I had come to this shop before when my battery needed a warranty replacement and they did it for me at no cost. So when my engine started acting up I came back for a diagnostic. They got me going with a spark plug replacement and got me on the road with the least amount of work done - aka NO crazy upselling or trying to convince me to buy parts I didnt need. Not only that, but Diana at the front desk went the extra mile after I had paid and left to get my old spark plug kit covered by warranty and is giving me the money! AMAZING. SERVICE.

Needed bearings pressed. Every shopped kept referring my to other shops and the ones that were able to help were taking more than a day to do it and charging and arm and leg. Westcoast did it same day and charged me more than half of what I was quoted other places. Definitely recommend!

Diana the front desk agent is the best and so sweet! I called them asking if they were able to work on my 78’ Volvo wagon that wasn’t starting. Paid it to get towed there but than they realized that it wasn’t actually something they were familiar with. Diana felt bad and got it towed for me too a place that actually would be able to fix my car. She was so helpful and the best!

I had a great experience the only time I brought my car here so I plan to use them again next time.I had called a couple other shops about an alignment and oil change and they didnt even want the work since my ZR1 sits low to the ground and apparently for some shops is too much effort to get on the alignment machine. When I called Westcoast they expressed no concerns about my car and were able to make an appointment for that afternoon. I told them I thought I must have a worn bushing in my suspension since I could hear something rubbing when backing out of parking spaces with the wheel cranked, so they were going to investigate that as well. I dropped the car off and Albert gave a quick tour of the shop since I was asking about some of the beautiful classic cars I could see from the doorway. Like I said, I expected something to be worn or broken in the suspension so when they called me later that afternoon I expected to be told there were additional costs needing my approval but to my surprise they were just calling to say my car was ready. They fixed the rubbing issue by tightening up a loose sway bar end - this is where a dishonest shop would have tried to sell me on unnecessary repairs, but they fixed the issue at no cost.As youre well aware, theres lots of snakes in the auto service industry so when you find a shop thats honest and reasonably priced you store that number in your phone and recommend them to friends, and thats what Ill be doing. On a side note: From the street it would be easy to miss and its not a glitzy place so dont judge the book by its cover, this place earned my business and Im guessing youll have a similar experience. Frankly Im glad theyre not spending their money on gilding the exterior since the expense would end up being passed on to the customer anyways. This is a no frills get down to business shop and Im glad its that way.

Do not go here. I chose Westcoast Auto Service for new tires and brake fluid because of their stellar reviews. They were flexible with scheduling and the customer service was not bad. When I first got their, I asked about pricing and they told me $40 over what the price should have been. When i inquired as to why it was so expensive and asked them to break down each service, the price came down to what I expected. Also, when I went to pick up my car I asked them to show me the brake fluid level. Its a good thing I did because it was overfilled and spilling out the top. The mechanic had to go get the machine and suck out the extra. They also never reinstalled the plastic covering that goes over the break fluid cap. It was just left rattling around in my engine. They do not pay attention to details and they will take advantage of you if you are not car savvy.

This is the only shop that works on my classic cars. Scott and his crew are awesome with the older cars and if it is a problem I cant fix myself this is where I take them. Scott has worked on most of the members of our car clubs cars and everyone in the club raves about the quality of his work and the reasonable prices. I have had suspension work and transmission work done on my 50 Studebaker and I couldnt believe the quality and low price. I cant understand the reviews that were negative, everyone I know is very happy.I checked on the person who filed the two negative reviews. They had a freeze plug go out on the rear of their motor, near the firewall. They only wanted that one plug replaced, despite being told that if one is bad the rest will soon follow. Some time later another freeze plug went out and they became upset and complained and wrote the two negative reviews. Trust me Scott is the most honest mechanic I know and has always been fair and professional. You cant go wrong taking your 4 wheel baby to Westcoast.Update, June 2015. I just brought my 64 Malibu in with steering problems (leaking pump) and rotted upper control arm bushings. When I picked up the car it now drives better than new, steering is tight with no leaks and it rides as straight as an arrow. I am still very happy with the quality of work at Westcoast.

I was way past due for a brake adjustment on my travel trailer when I stopped by to ask if they could work me in. They did; and fortunately, Chris who was doing the work noticed that a wiring harness had come loose and was almost worn through from rubbing on the wheel. For just a few dollars, he re-wrapped the harness and installed extra clamps to keep it out of harms way. He also took the time to remove a wheel and inspect the bearings. The work was done quickly, courteously, and at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend them.

Our serpentine belt flew off as we were driving down the 78 leaving us stranded on the side of the highway. It was already close to 5 and the tow truck was going to be an hour but they offered to stay a little late to accept delivery of our car. There were roadside assistance tow truck issues and our car was not delivered until the following morning. They worked our car in and had it back to us Friday evening before they left. We tell everyone to use Westcoast Auto Service. If they cant fix they, they know someone who can.

I have mixed feelings about this place, I went in for alignment on my corvette and guy looks under the hood for couple of minutes and tells me that he may not be able to do a proper alignment because there is a washer on the A-arm shaft that needs to be removed and it’s complicated, I said ok I’ll go home and remove the washer and come back, he decides to charge me $60 for just looking under the hood for two minutes, I am not one to argue over $60 so I handed them my credit card, he tells me that they don’t accept cards, I said that’s something you should have told me over the phone, he tells me that he would keep my car until I paid him in cash, since I didn’t have transportation to go get his money we figured out that I can pay him through PayPal, and then I thought why waste $60 for nothing when I can pay another $20 to get him to try to do the front wheel alignment best he can, and what do you know he tells me that he was after all able to do the alignment and asked me if I wanted the rear wheels aligned as well and I said sure while I get some lunch. An hour later I come back and my car is parked. I go inside and pay, get my keys and the car won’t start, I popped the hood trying to figure out what’s wrong and of course no one cares to come out and see what’s wrong, eventually I check the battery compartment behind the seat and noticed that they had disconnected the battery, as if I was going to come back with another key and take my car without paying them. I asked the owner Scott as to why someone had done that but he didn’t respond. They did a decent job on my alignment but shame on them for their behavior. I definitely will not give them any of my future business and my corvette club members will definitely know about this.

This shop is dishonest. I brought my car in with symptoms I thought were suspension related. The mechanic listed all the things that were wrong with the car, but didnt stress that the things I agreed to do to the car wouldnt fix the problem I brought it in for. He took advantage of what i thought was wrong with the car and fixed that stuff. One thing I dont understand is, wouldnt he wonder why is this guy sinking nine hundred dollars in to something that isnt going to fix his car? Then I find out that the problem was the drive shaft, and they dont do drive line work. He nicely referred me to another shop for that.

Westcoast Tire and Wheel (apparently now called Westcoast Tire and Transmission) took over Walt-Bilt transmission which used to be on 1303 South Coast Highway - They know their stuff! I actually called up Walt-Bilt just to tell them how well my transmission was holding up and found out that they changed owners but kept the same builders from Walt-Bilt (that rebuilt my transmission).I have a modified 4th gen Camaro SS that also has a transmission killing 3600 stall torque converter and a 150 shot of nitrous. It killed the stock 4L60E transmission in no time. I took it over to Walt-Bilt and they rebuilt and upgraded the right parts to get it to hold the power. 30,000+ miles of abuse later, its still holding up like new! When I found out that Westcoast kept Walt-Bilts guys I had to post up this review on their business. If you look up walt-bilt, youll see my review for them.
