I have stopped by this place whenever in the neighborhood and need for 20+ years. It used to be that cute green store with the frog sign up front with owners what seemed connected to the neighborhood. It is now just an overpriced, impersonal mess. I would suggest going elsewhere unless you like supporting expired food and other super overpriced items. BTW, should be Frog Pond convenience store not grocery.
Should be referred to as a convenience store, not a grocery. $7 minimum for credit cards also. Low star is because I was expecting a grocery store. They sell the exact same stuff you’d find in a gas station aka convenience store.
This neighborhood corner store presents itself as a warm and welcoming family owned shop - when in reality it is the exact opposite. I have lived right next door to the shop for two years and have had nothing, but negative interactions and confrontations. Despite having a great selection of beer, the food and snacks are way over priced ( not to mention most items on sale for consumption are months past its expiration date ), all frozen items are guaranteed to be freezer burned. And that is just on the business side of all of it. I have received nothing, but bullying and intimidation from not only the owner, but his family who help run the shop. For two years I have parked in the same spot that is clearly on my property (a definite marked driveway that borders the asphalt where the shops property/ parking ends). I pay good money every month to not only park in my own driveway, but have the confidence in the safety of my own neighborhood let alone my next door neighbors. Not only am I worried about my own personal safety including that of my neighbors, but the safety of our own personal property. The owner, Yonny, has warned us to more than once to be on the look out and be safe as if we had something to watch our backs over. Our cars have been subjected to the most harassment including notes left on our cars, threatening to get authorities involved, and has once even tried to force his way into my neighbors car while she was sitting parked. (we have saved the notes and have video footage of the attempt forced entry) He also pounded on my front door during the morning to get me to move a vehicle.I refuse to spend another penny on expired food and poor morale. I hope you do as well.
What can be said about Frog Pond Grocery that hasnt already been said? I simply love this store and location.. Whatever I cant find in Frog Pond Grocery, I can most likely find at Whole Foods.
My family and I, who have lived in the neighborhood for over twenty five years, absolutely love the Frog Pond. The service is outstanding and it is great to be to patronize a local, family-owned, business. The Frog Pond has been around in this neighborhood for years prior to our arrival. We appreciate having a store within walking distance to grab necessary items. To those leaving negative reviews about the pricing and/or selection - it is not a big store, is family owned, and caters mostly to the neighborhood. If you want cigarettes cheaper - go to a smoke shop. If you want food that is right off the delivery truck - go to Safeway, it is less than a mile up the road. This business is perfect for what it is - the local, friendly, neighborhood convenience store! You should expect to pay a bit more, and have less of a selection, for such an amazing luxury.
The frog pond encompasses every desired need in a friendly neighborhood such as this. Gods be good and have one open closer to my neighborhood. Bless the old gods and the new!
Heavily stocked, they have a lot of food/drink there, as well as accessories for your car or whatever. They have more than your average little convenient stores do. Only a couple negatives I have are, Frog Pond doesnt have gas/diesel. Also no water or air machine for anyones car.
As good as a neighborhood corner store could ever be. Anyone who says service is bad is nuts. I will be a loyal customer until I die.
I like it overall. It has tons of character and the sometimes grumpy nature of the staff add to that. I can see how people may turn their nose up at uneven concrete floors and sometimes dusty old stock on hand but I still like it for all those reasons. It is unapologetic and it is what it is a convenience store that offers items, maybe not exactly what youre looking for, at more cost than at the Safeway. Arent you tired of the cookie cutter stores? The clerks have always been respectful even when sometime rather grumpy on occasion. Decide for yourself I say but its not far to a big chain grocery store if youd like to avoid it.
Very dirty looking
Really nice corner store. Good selection of everything and the owners are super friendly as well.
Very pricey. It is a fun little shop, but he upkeep is not great on it and it could use being updated. Granted, o have not been there in almost 2 years. I will update this if I go again.
There ciggaretes are priced a dollar over everywhere else Swishers, black and milds ect are sold only in singles where theres the 4 pack and everywhere else they give you a deal for buying the pack here not so much
I warn that you not to go to the Frog Pond unless you want a great selection of beer and friendly service! :-)
