Good store! Excellent selection of beautiful and exotic hardwoods, and staff was able to answer all the questions that I had. After watching their interaction with another customer, staff earned big points from me by maintaining a courteous, respectful demeanor. Boy, Im glad that I dont work with the public anymore!

Absolutely loved my experience today!! I had read reviews about poor customer service but I had an awesome experience! As I open the door I got a very warm welcome and replied to her the same way! I needed some hardwood plywood and they answered my questions I had and as I went to see the plywood myself the employee went above and beyond to show me different plywood types! After many undecided minutes he showed me a type that wasnt on my radar! Then he carried it and loaded it on top of my vehicle for me! The two ladies inside were very nice and showed me their amazing exotic hardwood section! I will definitely be making this my go to lumber store!!

I would definitely rather buy local than from a transnational chain. Usually has the quality supplies I want. People are nice and wood orders show up quickly.

Regular hardware store with a large selection of woods. Teak, ash, hickory, walnut, etc. Both 4/4 and 8/4.

They had the hardwood i needed, all be it a bit higher than I cost than I expected. A lot cheaper than having to drive to Seattle. Great hardware selection.

Hardwood prices pretty steep and they round up every dimension on every board, even when there are serious defects, wanes or deep checks. Love it or leave it pricing. Staff has ignored me on several occasions unless I approached them directly. No greetings, Thank yous or other indication that they want people in their store. Gotta go there if I dont want to drive to Crosscut. I guess they know that.

This is where I get almost all of my exotic woods. The employees will go above and beyond to help you if you ask for help but they dont hover. Their selection is awesome and their pricing is fair.

As a local small woodworking business I have visited this shop on numerous occasions and each time I come the prices are higher and the customer service is worse. Their was only one person in the store today as they had a couple of other employees out loading lumber on trucks, but this isn’t enough people to attend to more than one customer at a time in the store. And the employee in the store doesn’t seem to want to be there in the first place. I am disappointed to say I probably won’t be returning.

Good selection of hardwoods to choose from.However, I was overcharged by $15.Hardwoods are priced by BF. The piece i purchased was 1.3 BF but I was charged for 2 BF.I usually like this place but thats just not good customer service.

Best price and service. Shopped Lowes and HD. The 4x4s were cheaper and the galvanized washers were half the price at Hardels

So, we needed some siding for our house shortly after we bought it. Everything at the box stores was way to expensive for our meager resources. Hardel hooked us up with some siding that was 2/3 the price of the box stores. Yes, it had some oops bits and needed to be primed on both sides, but we were going to do that anyway, so it worked out great. And yes, in the past there was an individual there that was less than charming, but over the past few years, I have found helpful, polite people there. I need some more siding now, so I intend to go back.

Great old school hardware and supply store. Nice selection of exotic woods. Pricing was similar to big box stores. I felt like a kid again looking around in there.

Hardel is a wealth of DIY information. They offer a variety of hard to find lumber species. Plywood prices are great and there contractor sales go out of there way to give good service at a great price.Thanks Jason

This is not a large store so they are limited to working man hours. Ive been there 5 or 6 times and have found them helpful every time. If you love fine lumber this is really the only and best place to go as far as I know Olympia has no other. Its worth a trip just to look at all the beautiful wood.

Ive been shopping at the Olympia store for 2 years now. They have great customer service. I drive an hour just to shop there. They have a wonderful hardwood selection not to mention knowledgeable and friendly staff. I highly recommend shopping at Hardels.

Went for gas pipe fittings, they had the fittings but didnt have the gas pipe thread sealant.

The worst customer service experience in Olympia. Been trying to give this place a chance because it is local for 20 years. For all 20 of those years the guys at the desk in the back just stare at you with blank looks and then treat every question like it is a stupid one. There is no help otherwise.Yesterday decided to give it a go one last time. The plywood displayed inside was not even close to the 4x8 putty filled potato chips that were loaded in my truck. Decided not to take it back because I am done with the place.

Place has the personality of wet paint. When you are competing with Lowes or Home Depot you should probably have something you offer stand out, like customer service. Unfortunately, Ive gotten better receptions from the slow kid at Walmart. Not a hello, how can I help or a goodbye and even though I found what I needed I decided to drive out of my way to Home Depot to buy it. Its the principle of things. I guess they make too much money to deal with Joe homeowner.

Farewell to Hardel for me. Have been shopping there over 25 years. Shopped there when it was still town down. Was there yesterday walked in there say good morning no replay. Say it louder get one out of two replies from staffers. Not the first time that I dont feel wellcome at Hardels. I turned around and walked out. I wont be back!

What has happened to getting customer service these days, it seems everywhere I go its hard to find someone that is willing to help you, they act like your just putting them out or wasting there time. . I guess since all of the BIG companies put all the smaller ma & pa shops out of business there will be no more service and soon to follow will be no more customers.. Give you a 1 star because couldnt figure out how to give a half star.

Hardel truck delivered lumber to a neighbor and drove through and destroyed a flower bed in our yard, not once but on two separate occasions. Driver said the road was too narrow. No apology or offer to replace flowers.

As soon as I walked in they acted like I was trying to steal from them. Every isle I walked down someone came around the corner to watch me. When I paid the clerk asked me for my name, when I asked why he said my card was asking for a name??? I will not go back. I didn’t purchase any lumber but the tool and hardware prices were hi just like pro build or ace hardware.

I do not understand why a manager would run around at 5 p.m. each day and kick paying customers out of the store. Customer Service is definitely lacking, this was my last trip to Hardel “Do our Best to Drive Customer’s Away!”

Do not shop here. I just experienced some of the worst customer service.
