Sarah is a lovely vivid person and an incredible violin maker who will improve your instrument at the most highest quality. I took my Montagnana to her shop and I can definitely feel the difference. One of the most amazing works that she did on my cello was an incredible tonal adjustment which allowed more ring and open sound. It has been years since I experimented a great joy and satisfaction on working with a violin maker! Highly recommended!!
Omaha is lucky to have Sarah and her shop! She constantly fixes my instrument to the highest quality. One of the more notable things that she has done was saving the face of my violin when I chipped it (same day!). Most recently she completely fixed my violin bow that no one would touch with a bad frog sliding issue. She had to replace my bows Mother Of Pearl in order to fix it and just so happened to have an almost exact replacement in stock. I was debating on getting a new bow but no need any more because its as good as new! Do yourself a favor and give her a call.
I had the privilege to meet and to start working with Sarah Gray in 2017 and it is hard to post a review that can do her justice.I worked in a violin shop as a young violinist out of passion, and have toured Europe and the US for the past 20 plus years. I have visited and collaborated with many of the most distinguished luthiers and restorers on both continents, and I have the professional perspective to say that she is one of the leading contemporary master restorers.Beyond her warm and welcoming personality, her integrity is unquestionable, always. Her work is unique, tailored for each instrument and performer, with uncanny intuition, inspiration, passion and professional knowledge. She is staying abreast of the newest acoustic and restoration technologies, with a sharp mind as well as artistic talent.Usually I get work done and the instrument is just perfect, and I am ready to pack it as soon as I try it, as incredible as it sounds. She is the one who actually says I dont like that little thing or the other, let me try something else. She has come to the University of South Dakota numerous times and helped all the string players with anything they need, at the most competitive prices. We are beyond lucky to have her in this area. Thank you so much for everything you do here.
Sarah Grey came highly recommended by our daughter’s private cello instructor. When we needed simple repairs, Sarah was more than willing to do the work, and she quickly fit us into her schedule. She explained things to us and educated us, all while she provided cheerful, professional service at a very reasonable price. When more complicated repairs were needed, we trusted her judgement, and we’ve been thrilled with the result of her expertise. The cello sounds wonderful, and playing it has become easier and more enjoyable for our daughter, thanks to Sarah Grey. We really are lucky to have her right here in Omaha.
Sarah Gray is phenomenal! She has a way of making your instrument sound above its potential. In the 30yrs I have been playing, she is the first Luthier I have encountered who collaborates with the player to get the set up perfect instead of slapping a generic fix and moving on to the next customer. A true artist, you will not be disappointed with her attention to detail.
She is the only person I allow to handle my maintenance on my custom piece and am always more than happy with her results.
Sarah Gray has been temendously supportive of Omahas Big Muddy Fiddle Club as a guest speaker and attending performances. Several members have taken their instruments to her for repairs. Sarah has consistently gone above and beyond to help our club members fiddles. I recently took my violin to her for some cleaning. She was quick to spot and fix a potential problem for the future health of my instrument while also accomodating my tight performance schedule.
Sarah is a magician. She has worked on my violas for many years, and she is outstanding! We are very lucky to have her in Omaha.
Saras attention to detail is outstanding. She cares deeply about her work and especially in making sure that you are happy with your instrument before you leave the shop.
