Never had a bad experience here! ❤️Great for dates, brunch, or anytime you need a delicious dessert! Their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake bars are absolutely divine. Their cakes rotate flavors weekly and I’ve liked every flavor that I’ve tried. I love supporting a small business. ☺️
I’m giving two stars because the cake itself was super yummy and fresh. Im however very disappointed in the service over all.I had ordered this cake for my daughters birthday for pickup at 12:30 pm today. I called them to let them know I was running late and got there around 2. Within 5 minutes of being in the car all of the flowers slid off the sides.. I’m shocked the cake wasn’t refrigerated until it was picked up. Mine was out with another at the time of pickup.my car has AC and it was fully on. I’ve had other cakes similar and this hasn’t happened. When I called to order the lady wasn’t very nice. Whoever I talked to today seemed super annoyed. Sorry I got stuck at work in a meeting. I called before pickup time.I paid $40 ish dollars for a cake I had to fix. I don’t know if I’ll order another cake. I wanted to love this place!
The desserts all look so amazing. But none of them taste amazing. I wish they did. I’ve tried almost everything there.
I’m editing my review because after a lengthy discussion with the owner, I believe that both parties were at fault for the mix up that occurred. Almost immediately after I left this review the owner contacted me to discuss this in detail, which we did. Even though it’s unfortunate what happened, you should feel confident in knowing the owner will do their best to make your experience pleasant. Also, aside from the mix up, the cakes are really tasty—hence using them for our wedding in the first place.Poor communication and the front desk girl was incredibly unhelpful. Basically there was an mix up with my order. We had ordered two cakes, I thought they were confirmed, but they weren’t. So we ended up without a wedding cake.I get that there was miscommunication on both ends but the way the catering girl made it seem, it seemed like the email I received was the confirmation. NOPE. Apparently I was supposed to respond with confirmation. The reason I’m mad is because of the assumption. Why wouldn’t they call to confirm or double check? And what makes me angry is when I called to find out where my cakes where the girl said THEY’RE ON THEIR WAY. only to find out an hour later the order wasn’t confirmed. after multiple calls to find out where the cakes were. The cakes were tasty when we went, but the service is enough to keep me from the returning.
This is one of my absolutely FAVORITE places in Orem to go for dessert. Such a good place for a girls date or actual date.I would say not ideal for young children--this is more of an adults only place as far as layout and space. If you do have kids, just get the delicious treats to go!I was converted from chocolate cake always to vanilla because of their kitty Katrina cake.
Pretty cool little place! It’s in an old house, and it has seating all over if you’re wanting to make a fun date night out of it. Perfect place to go for desert after dinner. They have quite a few tasty bakery items you buy and take out for on the go. It was delicious as well! I would definitely go again!
Awesome Cakes!!! Words can not explain how good they were!! We will be back to try the huge variety of sweets!! So many options! Awesome ambience, cool little shop with cool employees!Thank you for a sweet experience!!
Horrid. Ordered online to have a delivery service take a treat to my poorly brother. Half the order arrived. I called The Chocolate and the kind workers, I have mad respect at least they show up to work. I know it’s hard to get good people. However, he offers that I come pick it up the missing item as he said “oh it’s right here, it got missed. You can come pick it up”. Bahahaha I said I’m an hour away l, it’s a special delivery for my brother. He states, I don’t know what to do? I could talk to my manager Sam. Dear oh dear!
Ive been a long time fan of this delicious establishment. We had them bring a variety of cookies for an event last night and they were delicious! Ive also loved everything Ive ever tried in their store fronts - pizookies, cakes, and more!
This is such a fun desert spot! There are a lot of options for desert from cake to cookies. My favorite is the Kazookie, a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The old house has lots of rooms to sit in and is kept clean.Gets pretty busy in the evening so try and get here early.
If you don’t absolutely love the chocolate, you’re insane. This is a favorite date night experience. You may want to try avoiding peak hours because it can get a littler crowded, not too crazy but a less intimate experience. The warm cookies with ice cream is heaven. Don’t get too exotic though because the best one is the chocolate chip. It’s a fun, cute dessert shop.
Ordered a custom cake that was perfect and delicious! They also accomated some special requests I had which was really nice of them.
We love The Chocolate! Their desserts are so tasty and they have a great variety. I love how they offer gluten free options as well. Our favorite cake is The Husband. The chocolate icing is delicious and the cake is nice and moist. Their cake prices are a little high, but overall we love coming here.
Staff isnt that friendly customer service can make or break a business try to be more kind.
The staff is really warm and pleasant, and always bend over backwards to take care of you. Its a really quaint, vintage home that they turned into the cafe and so every room had a unique feel, with its own color, art, and furniture. Great place to come hang out and get delicious sweet food. The chocolate chip cazookie is my favorite dessert here, but their cakes and cookies are amazing as well.
AMAZING desert! This is a great place to hang out and eat a slice of cake, or really any desert. They have everything. On Tuesdays they give you a free scoop of ice cream or free glass of milk with your treat if you’re following them on Instagram or Facebook. You can sit upstairs or downstairs. There’s tons of seating and each table has a cute little vase of fresh flowers. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was LOUD. Groups of women like to hang out and all talk, which is fine. It just gets really loud! We also waited probably 25 minutes for our slice of cake. I’m not sure if this is normal, but maybe don’t go if you have somewhere you need to be. It would be so fun if they had board games or something since people seem to enjoy hanging out for so long. We’ll probably go here again, but I’ll make sure I’m also with a group of girls instead of wanting quiet time with my husband! Haha
I love The Chocolate! Ive been coming here for years. Literally everything on the menu is delicious but especially the Cazookie--highly recommend! Great for a 1st date or a 50th;) Go earlier to beat the crowds on the weekends. Fun for families during the day when its not so crowded. New management has done a fantastic job with the takeover--we only miss those yummy funfetti cookies! Such a chill, nice atmosphere! FOH staff are kind and friendly! Cant say enough good things! Also their cake orders are a breeze, weve used them several times for birthdays etc.
What is all the fuss about? Some friends suggested I visit The Chocolate. They really like that an old house is being repurposed. But most the desserts we tried were below average and theres almost nothing with chocolate. We ordered about ten items to make sure we had a good cross section to sample. It was disappointment all around. Maybe our expectations were too high, but some items were so hard we had to turn them upside down just to cut into them.
This is my go-to dessert restaurant in Orem. I love the homey feel and vibe they bring to their bakery. You are guaranteed to like almost anything that you order from their menu. Their desserts are fantastic. This time around I ordered the half cookies and cream and half chocolate chip cazookie which tasted amazing. Imagine a half baked cookie with rich ice cream on top and a doughy, chocolaty, oreo-esque, center that just melts in your mouth. It is quite fantastic. Although, 1 may be too big and too sweet for one person to eat alone. I definitely recommend sharing the cazookie of your choice. This place is close to getting 5 stars. The service is mediocre and the presentation could be better to give it that wow factor. Despite these things though, it is not only unique and tasty, but they make you feel at home while you indulge in their fantastic desserts.
This place was fantastic! Ive probsbly driven past it a hundred times and told myself I needed to go someday, and yesterday was that day. The line was long when we got there, but it moved quickly. We ordered way to much, but it was all fantastic! The Biscottie (sp?) cookie- fantastic and crisp,a slice of Orange dreamscicle cake- so moist and perfectly flavored, aslice of the Kitty Katrina cake (a vanilla cake of moist heaven), Lemon bar- perfect combination of sweet and sour, Salted caramel brownie- a chunk of fudgy heaven, and the Coozkie, half smores, half....something else. I love icecream over a freshly baked cookie that came out after about 10 minutes. It was a great night. We all went home with leftover to enjoy later. The gals working there last night were great and friendly too. Perfect ending to a great night!
Restaurant review, and catering review:Restaurant: trendy, eclectic, cozy interior. Usually very crowded any evening and hard to find seating. Expect to see lots of college-aged students on dates, and girl roommate groups. The Cazookie is the thing to get here - it’s a 8” diameter underbaked delicious cookie served warm with ice cream. Easily shareable between 2 people. Takes about 10 minutes. Highly recommend.Catering: we had them do several cakes for our wedding. No regrets. They people delivering were professional, timely, and the cakes were beautiful.I’m posting the menu/prices so they hopefully don’t raise them again.
Its awesome, but its a little pricey. Id give it five stars if they werent overpriced
The sugar cookies are my favorite but everything here is delicious! I use The Chocolate to cater the desserts for all of my parties!
The moment you step in the smell intoxicates you! Ended up ordering cake to stay and a box of goodies for the road! Friendly patient staff (couldnt decide and didnt feel rushed) very well priced it was a perfect place to stop for an out of town must have cake birthday celebration! Ill definitely be revisiting when Im in town!
Their cazookies are amazing! They also have really good hot chocolate, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t really like hot chocolate. The cafe itself is in a cute little house and the set up is very nice. It’s a nice place to go on a date. The only downside is that the parking situation isn’t the best.
I love this place! I come here with a friend and we almost always get a slice of the special weekend cake, and a cazookie (fresh baked cookies topped with a large scoop of ice cream!) and then split them.Every weekend they do a special cake flavor that’s only available that Thursday-Saturday, and these are the ones I like to come try. They also sell other treats like cookies, brownies, eclairs, hot chocolate, etc. and they sell whole cakes and do orders for wedding cakes.*If you found my review helpful, I would greatly appreciate a thumbs up (like) so google and I know. Thanks, and Bon appétit!
The Husband cake is very good! That was my favorite. The turtle cookie and Biscoff cookie are great too. However, Crumbl is way better in my opinion. Also, the workers are very awkward and act like you are bothering them when you go to order. There also is no art work or anything on the walls so it’s a strange eating space.
Pretty good food and cute place, just a little bit pricey in my opinion
Delicious but overpriced, and I am not sold on the atmosphere.
This is one of my family’s favorite place to get cake. We have bought several birthday cakes over the past year. Our favorite is The Husband cake. The cake is moist and the ganache is exquisite. I highly recommend this place.
Got a slice of the husband cake for…my husband! It was not too sweet, which I appreciated, but honestly did not have much flavor. It was slightly on the drier side, and, for over $6 a slice, was pretty pricey. I definitely wouldnt get this particular flavor again.
Kazookies are soo good! Perfect mix of cookie and cookie dough (Krispy + doughy + ice cream!). Pretty limited seating but haven’t had to wait yet. Their funfetti cake is actually really good (and I don’t usually really like cake) and perfect for kids birthdays (ex smash cake)
This is the best fricken Chocolate cake Ive had in my 28 years on this Earth. Moist, springy Chocolate cake embraced on all sides, by *thee smoothest* dark chocolate ganache this side of Heaven. I would give it more stars but there are only 5.
If you havent been here, you need to go.Fun old house-turned-dessert restaurant. Great service from the staff, and they always have terrific cookies/pastries/cakes to choose from.Great selection of desserts (the trifle isnt my favorite, but its worth checking out). I recommend the Chocolate Cookie Sandwich or the Peanut Butter Swirl Brownie. They change their two headline cakes each week--the summer cakes are especially good. Only downside is the loyalty program is tied to your credit card, so if you use a different card on different trips, it doesnt work. That, and you have to spend a minimum of $5 to get a point; spend $4.99 and it doesnt count.Im just waiting for the day they start serving pie too.
YUM‼️ And then covered with a thick layer of......MORE YUM‼️ Pretty much I love everything. Then they come up with something new, and I love that. My much healthier daughter brought home a gluten free caramel turtle ‼️ Just go-be happy‼️Carbs, sugar & butter just might be the secret to happiness 🎂✨😁
I love the environment. We played games in this cute living room. Intimate setting! Delicious desserts. I got the chocolate cake with chocolate ganache I cant remember the fancy name it was called but it was delightful! A perfect piece of cake. Moist and fluffy and DELICOUS!
I splurged a bit and bought a few of everything--one or two of each type of cookie, a few mini cupcakes, and two mint brownies. Every single bite was DIVINE! There was literally nothing that I couldnt go back and get again. My husbands favorite cake is German chocolate, and he said their German chocolate mini cupcakes were the best he had ever tasted. 100% would recommend for anyone in the mood to treat themselves!
Love the desserts here, and the staff are all so friendly and professional. :) I definitely recommend coming here for your sweet tooth fix.
Good hot chocolate, Ive had their cake and strawberry shortcake. Coconut cake was alright (the frosting was a bit intensely sweet for me but that is a personal preference), the shortcake was great but I found maybe 6 strawberry slices on the whole thing. The food was very tasty though
This place is addicting. Their cakes are SO good, and the few cookies Ive tried are also delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love that I can get a slice of cake and take it home to nibble on for the next 3 days. I love this business, and I will always do what I can to support them.
Great desserts although their selection is often limited. Dont be confused by the name. This is not a chocolates shop. Its a bakery (that has a lot of chocolate selections among others). What they have is always delicious. Id recommend the cazookie.
My husband and I love their desserts, particularly their cake. Yum. A date night favorite.
Super cute location. Lots of dessert options. The Cazookie was made fresh to order hot right out of the oven!!! Yummy!!!
It would be nice if there was a clearer sign in the building itself, but I think it was marked as a historical landmark, so maybe they can’t due to rules.
Great place for dessert and the ambience is great. We even met the drummer of a local pop band there. The rooms are intimate enough that it is easy to get to know other groups of people who are enjoying the desserts. The food was yummy too!!
The owners of this bakery have great integrity and care about their customers. Thank you Brett!
Always amazing, perfect cake. Recently made a custom order of chocolate cake with milk chocolate ganache and coconut and whipped cream inside. Delicious!
I love the chocolate! It’s a great place for a date
Get the husband cake and be happy!
The treats were so, so delicious!! Service was a little slow, but it was a busy Friday night.
Went tonight for Cazookies with friends. The floor was a mess, crumbs and chunks of cake all over. The tables were not wiped off. When we asked for water they brought us WARM water. Not even room temperature, it was warm. We also asked for straws for our water and the waitress said, “we don’t have those.” My husband looked into the kitchen from his seat and saw a cup full of straws. Our friends went to change their sons diaper in the bathroom and said it was also really dirty. The food was good but the experience was unimpressive.
Six people working and 50 mins later we are still waiting on our cazookie????????????
This is a cute dessert shop! We tried the PB brownie, the caramel brownie & the hello dollies. They were all delicious! Our favorite was the PB brownie, it had the perfect amount of PB & chocolate. The salted caramel was good but we wished it had more of a salted caramel taste. We definitely want to come back! I do wish it had soda on ice though. :) They have soda in a can but a fountain drink with dessert is perfect in our opinion. :) :)
One of my favorite dessert places in Provo!! They have the most amazing cakes - the Husband is my favorite. We are even having them do the cake for our wedding and they have been helpful and responsive about the whole catering process.
Fun little shop. Cool environment, delightful desserts!
Sooooooo delicious. Highly recommend the Cazookie!
Deserts were good, atmosphere is really fun, and they have a surprising amount of seating. Workers are friendly.
Large variety of dessert options. Brownies. Cupcakes. Gluten free options. Strawberry shortcake. Lots of cake flavors. I wish the cake was more dense and the frosting doesnt take like its pure butter. Not my favorite cake destination but the magic potato is good. Very sweet but yummy with a scoop of icecream.
Such a cute place with so many dessert options. We tried the peanut butter brownie with cream cheese frosting and its even better than it sounds! The desserts were all priced below what I expected.
Honestly if you want an AMAZING dessert come here! They have the absolute best brownies, cake, cookies, and much much more. They have smaller cakes 18” that are honestly PERFECT. The cake is a little rich so it’s honestly the perfect amount of everything. This place is also located in the CUTEST little house you’ll enjoy every moment!!
Beautiful quaint building that is great for chatting with people. Feels like your favorite cozy coffee shop mixed with an Airbnb
Great cazookie! Place needs major seating upgrades.
My husband thinks they changed their cazookie recipe and its way better. It was delicious before but its got something now; we had to order a second one!
This is a fun little sweet shop! We were on vacation and just happened to know that this place used to be our old neighbors grandmothers house. The decor is a different theme in every room and this place has plenty of seating!
I frequent the chocolate usually 2X/month. It offers some delectable baked treats, which are often hard to find in Provo. Here is a review of different options:First off - the always-available cake flavors:Yellow cake with milk chocolate frosting: in general I like this cake quite a bit. As long as you let the cake come to room temperature. Often when Ive gotten it, it has been cold for some reason - like they froze it and it hadnt quite thawed to room temperature. Its unfortunate to eat it this way because the milk chocolate ganache separates from the cake rather than being silky smooth and sticking to each bite. My recommendation is to pick up the cake in the afternoon, leave it on your counter and eat it after dinner.White cake with Vanilla Buttercream: This was okay, but rather bland. You may be thinking its vanilla with vanilla, one would expect for it to be bland - but I was looking for a deeper vanilla flavor and softer/lighter cake.Chocolate cake with milk chocolate frosting. This is probably the Chocolates best cake. Its moist, light, and the chocolate frosting is delicious. Same goes for this cake as the yellow cake - make sure youve bought a slice a few hours in advance so you can make sure it comes to room temperature before you eat it. It makes a world of difference.Chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting/ganache: Normally I would love this, but the ganache/frosting is always too hard. I havent gotten it soon enough to let it warm up a bit, but if so, itd probably be fantastic.Rotating/Seasonal Cake Flavors:-Chocolate raspberry: This is chocolate cake with a thin layer of ganache and raspberry buttercream. The chocolate cake is moist, light, and delicious. The buttercream tastes like plain buttercream and its almost impossible to detect any raspberry flavor. If you go in with the expectation of a chocolate cake with a vanilla buttercream youll like it. Just dont expect raspberry.-Hummingbird: This is a banana-pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting. I was a bit disappointed with this one as I typically love banana cake. The cake was a bit dry and on the bready side. It was also very bland - you could hardly detect any banana or pineapple flavor. The cream cheese frosting was good, but thats all you could taste. Would not recommend.Eggnog cake: I was excited about this flavor as its unusual and my husband loves eggnog. It was a big on the bready side as well, but the frosting was good and in general was a fun holiday-time experience.Brownies:Ive purchased mint brownies twice. The first time was SO good. The brownie itself was really fudgy and dense, topped with a healthy dose of peppermint buttercream. However, the second time I purchased the brownie it was dry and the buttercream just fell off the brownie. My guess is that the first brownie had been baked the day I ate it and was really fresh. The second brownie was probably atleast a few days old and was dried out. If you get one of these fresh, theyre amazing - maybe go as far as asking what day it was baked.Cazookie:Ive gotten the chocolate chip Cazookie here a few times and it never disappoints. Hot and melty with a scoop of icecream on top, its a great treat.
The pizooki was sooooo good!! Half snickerdoodle half chocolate chip
Their cakes are sooooo darn good. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves some sweet!!
Whenever you’re going down, just have some of the Chocolate.
I went to The Chocolate for the first time last night and was impressed with the concept that you can sit and eat your treats like in a regular restaurant. Its cozy and fun. Ive had a chocolate cake from them before and it was tasty. They were out of the mini chocolate cakes when I got there so Ill come earlier in the day and pick up a fresh one.
Such a fun place to go! The cazookie is SO good
Always like coming here. It’s a great date location. Pricing is reasonable and the portion sizes are great. Staff is always very personable and polite. Plus, it’s an awesome little building.
One of the best dessert places in town. Wonderful brownies, great cupcakes, and tasty cakes. They do a wonderful job with customized cakes; they are the only place I will buy a cake from instead of making it myself.
We were a little disappointed by the hot chocolate but the owner went out of their way to make it right. customer service at The Chocolate is amazing and the cake too!
I love the food, but it feels a little pricier than it should be. $1.55 seems a little steep for a mini cupcake. The ambiance is really comfortable and laid-back, but the building is pretty old and could use a little touching up, as could some of the furniture. Some of the chairs and tables are a little rickety. I rated them a 4 because the sweets are very tasty and well-decorated. I think Id have to see some renovations and improvements or slightly lower prices to rate it a 5.
Terrible service. We went and waited for more than half an hour to be served. The server went to a table close to us that had some pretty girls and was all smiles and serving them. We had a gift card, ordered a cookie and a chocolate cake. Waited for more than half an hour and they never brought it. I was so upset that I left and will definitely never go back again
Came here for dessert. I love that it’s in an old house, and has all the separate sitting rooms. The food was good, and the portions and flavors seemed to match the price. When it’s super busy the rooms feel less private, but it’s still a good experience. Would recommend.
The Chocolate has fantastic customer service and products. The Cherub is possibly the best chocolate cake Ive ever had, and the turtle cookies, turtle brownies, and mint brownies are to die for!I tried their Husband cake and wasnt a fan, but Im just guessing it was an off day for that particular cake that was baked—I was graciously reimbursed for my dissatisfaction by the owners. Very impressive establishment that I highly recommend.
Our favorite place to get desserts. Yummy desserts and a great, fun atmosphere
Great place for a fancy dessert! If youre okay with spending a little extra for some delicious treats then this is perfect. The seating is limited, but not too hard to find a spot to sit. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is amazing.
We regularly visit the Chocolate and have a fabulous experience all the time. The food is delicious, it all tastes fresh (except for brownies at the end of the day), and the environment is super cute. We’ve loved it from day one and continue to visit. Sometimes service is a little slower but that’s when it’s busy, so if you want freshly made goodies then it’s only fair to have a wait. The Cherub cake and gooey Cazookies are particular favorites. Will continue to go and you should too!
We like to go to the chocolate for the Cazookie and stop by frequently. Tonight our dessert came out extremely undercooked, and while I do understand it is supposed to be somewhat doughy- it should be completely gooey on the inside. Any way, I went up to the register and I explained to the girl that I felt our cookie was undercooked. She then pointed to the sign explaining its supposed to be that way. And I told her we frequent this location and dessert often enough to know it is, but I’ve never had one so undercooked and we wouldn’t eat it like this. She then just stared at me not saying anything back. So I asked if we could get one cooked a bit longer so it wasn’t so runny and she had a nasty attitude about it and with a rude tone said “I guess”...then I asked if we could bring our milk back to stay chilled while we wait for our cookie and she again had a bad attitude responding. And while she was ringing up a group of other people, there were other workers talking to her (while she’s assisting these customers) and the other girl was talking about an order they had and loudly goes “I just wanna tell them we’re all out of it” and another girl goes “no that’s money we could make”I just find that extremely unprofessional quite honestly. While assisting customers, your other peers are talking about how they don’t wanna make an order/put an order together so they should just tell your companies customers they don’t have the products? Why are these girls all working for your company? And i have never been treated so poorly at this location. Was just disappointed in the service received and witnessed. Especially with the awesome desserts your company offers.Visited: 11/16/19 @1015 pm
Delightful little shop. Worth a stop in if your in the area.
So cute! Treats were deliciou!
I bought a German chocolate cake. It was actually pretty good. I love their strawberry shortcake dessert!
This place is so good! The cake is a high quality! The place itself is so cute! Surprisingly a lot of seating. One downside is they can run out of stuff near the end of the day. Definitely worth a try though!
