Pretty expensive for the quality of cupcakes,. Nothing too great about it. Got 4 different ones. The staff was friendly. Store is well maintained.

CUPCAKE-A-LICIOUS! If you are looking for a variety of cupcakes, dont waste your time looking! Kara Cupcakes came through for me today and I am SO thankful I tried them out. I had no idea they had such a delicious variety. Not only did Yafet and Rhiana provide absolutely top notch customer service but they truly took the time to explain to me all the wonderful flavors to be expected when I indulge into these sweet escapes 😋 and gave me some recommendations. Thank you Yafet and Rhiana for turning what was supppose to be a pick up run to a wonderful tour of Karas Cupcakes. 🧁

I love their cupcakes! Best vegan chocolate cupcake Ive had, and Ive been on the search for a while! Their seasonal Strawberry Cupcake is also amazing! Try it while you can! They also have great customer service and everything was covid safe.

Cupcakes and variety of cakes is great. They carry gluten free and vegan cup cakes also. They take large orders for cupcakes and cakes also. Staff was very polite but service was ok. There are a few spots to sit outside. The store itself was very clean and kept well. Parking can be a real challenge for this shopping area in my experience, dont expect a quick stop for a pick up on the weekends especially.

UPDATE JUNE 2021: I am subtracting two stars from my review because of a couple of things. One is, their selection is almost nil after 5 p.m. so if youre stopping to get dessert on the way home from work, most likely you wont find much of an assortment or even quantity. We also noticed that they are definitely skimping on the amount of frosting that the cupcakes should and used to have.The other bigger problem and more annoying is that they now wont accept cash. I hope theyre not going to use Coronavirus as an excuse because they need to update their research on Coronavirus and the chances of catching the virus from paper. I walked in today with a $20 bill and then had to walk across the shopping center to my car to get a card I didnt want to use but had to because I promised to bring Karas home for dessert. Otherwise, I would have just left the cupcakes there.We will still buy their cupcakes for special occasions. We prefer buttercream and they have a few excellent choices with buttercream frosting. They have top-notch ingredients and Ive never had anybody put one down and leave it. Palo Alto location is excellent.

Decent cupcakes, one of the few places in the bay that makes a solid vanilla cake w/ chocolate frosting cupcake. Wish I could give 3.5 stars, because the one issue with this location is that they frequently run out of flavors hours before their actual closing time (i.e, very early afternoon). Have had more than one trip here end in disappointment.

This is our go to place for cupcakes. We like the mini size and the frosting to cake ratio. The flavors are a bit more subtle than some other place but delicious and crowd pleasers.

The cupcakes are good (I haven’t tried the cookies or cakes), and I do prefer them over Sprinkles, but over the last few months I have been experiencing problems with selection, and problems with access.I stop by around 4:30 to 7:30, on my way home. There is a 1-in-3 chance that what I’m looking for (sweet vanilla or sweet chocolate) will be gone. And half the times I go there, the store is temporarily closed, I think because there is only one person manning the store. The longest wait I’ve had was 15 minutes, which can be a problem if you’re trying to catch a bus.

Washington DC has Georgetown cupcakes. NY/NJ has cake boss in Hoboken. San Francisco has Karas cupcakes. Made with fresh wholesome ingredients they are the perfect balance between not too sweet and sweet. Enjoyed everything I tried. Not to bad on the pockets either.

Had never tried a very good cupcake. I live in San Bernardino are but I went to Palo Alto for work and stopped by Karas. They offered me the pakage with different flavors and I bought it. It has a very nice presentation and look very creamy. I share it with my husband and kids and each one tried a different flavor but we shared it. I love all the flavors and my kids liked all too. Vanilla, chocolate, vanilla chocalate and more. They are delicios and not too sweet. I invite you to try it, you will no regreat. I wish I could have on of the stores near me and place anorder for a party with cupakaes.

Like eating cardboard. Seriously, got a cookie, was dry and looked weeks old. Got two cupcakes, the main chocolate (one of the most popular) was not good. Both Susie Cakes (amazing) and Sprinkles cupcakes are significantly better.

Karas Cupcakes provided several lovely pink boxes each containing two heart shaped sugar cookies. These were distributed as a welcome gift to the rooms of guests attending my daughters wedding in Palo Alto. The cookies were not only visually appealing but very tasty!!! The ease with which the order was placed and filled was quite welcome. Everyone at Karas Cupcakes that I spoke to was pleasant and helpful making the cross-country transaction amazingly easy : )

Best cupcakes around by far. They are so light and fluffy and yummy. I love their chocolate one with the tiny square chocolate sprinkles. They also have fun themed cupcakes for each holiday. Super cute and fun place with great views and outdoor seating!

Service was great. Cupcakes were a bit dry. Flavors Passion fruit and Smores could have been stronger. But discovered an amazing oatmeal cookie with peaches and coconut. Id return to get that cookie.

I know places like Karas and sprinkles have a stigma for being super overpriced but seriously their cupcakes are heavenly. They are not at all like the 50 cent cupcakes from Safeway they are extremely rich and the dough is much heavier. One of my favorite desert places

I think this is one of the few cupcake shops that will survive the end of the cupcake boom. Everything Ive had here has been delicious and the service is always good. If your looking for awesome cupcakes for the office this could also be a great option but keep in mind that they do not cater to those with alternative eating preferences.

They have some interesting flavors. This season they are offering an organic strawberries and cream flavor which is delicious. However, their cupcakes seem to dry out faster than those of other cupcake stores. I also find the buttercream frosting a little too heavy (too much butter instead of cream).

We ordered a cake for our wedding. After sending all the details and doing the paperworks they sent a wrong cake to the event which was 200$ more expensive than our order. They did not accept any cost for their mistake. Worst place to order cakes for events. Also it took us 1 hour to take a simple order. Dont buy cakes from this place.

Worst place ever. We requested gluten free cup cakes and they gave us the cup cakes that had gluten. Terrible people and horrible service. When they don’t understand the concept of gluten sensitivity, they should not include gluten free in their site.

This place must be doing extremely well because I came here once an hour before closing and there was nobody out front, I came in and was told theres nothing left to buy. Couldnt you bake several times a day? Or close earlier?

Karas is is fine cute little shop, and maybe the regular cupcakes are great, but the gluten free cake is not so great.

The reason behind the one star (though it should have been zero stars really):We ordered our sons birthday cake from Karas Palo Alto and designed the cake and submitted the deposit and all paperwork a month in advance. We talked to Ashley and emailed back and forth three times and placed the order in person. We arrived on the due date to pick up the order only to find that Ashley had misfiled our paper and there was no cake. The party was in an hour and I had no cake for my four year old son. On top of that Ashley just shrugged and went inside without even a proper apology or solution to the problem she had created. I was clearly very upset but not a single person from Karas bothered to reach out to us. Nor did they refund the deposit. Clearly for them it was just another order that they had messed up. Very disappointed that such poor quality service still manages to survive in the Bay Area.

You cant go wrong at Karas. Service is always really friendly and all the cupcakes are delicious. Chocolate with chocolate frosting is a must try!

If I were to choose driving to Palo Alto (25 min drive) for Karas Cupcakes or Sibbys San Mateo (5 min drive)....i would defenetly go to Karas!!Cupcakes are moist and are delicious!!!

It feels fundamentally wrong to say anything bad about cupcakes but these just weren’t very good. I tried about 5 different flavors of the minis but they were all equally disappointing.
