Prices were definitely high when they first opened, but theyre a bit more reasonable now. Definitely a good place to go to pick up a few things if youre in the area.Update--Still go sometimes, but some of their produce and other products can be highly suspect. They dont seem to do nearly enough to keep turned and expired food off the shelves unfortunately. Ive had to return a lot of items after taking them home and finding that they were moldy/no longer usable. So they definitely need to work on quality control

Nice store and great selection of grocery items but the produce quality leaves a lot to be desired. I have bought multiple items of produce that have gone bad or molded within 24 hours. That being said, some produce items are excellent like their tomatoes and berries.I would advise if you are going to buy produce - use it same day for a meal you planned.

When I need to grab a few things, I would much rather shop here than ACME. The Co-op has a nice assortment of local produce, cheeses, breads, honey and other products. Id love to see even more local goods on the shelves in the future. The produce prices are fair, better than your typical supermarket in some instances (i.e. local mushrooms). My partner is lactose intolerate and I am able to find a good variety of dairy-free options, too. Yup, Im a regular here, but not yet a member (though I probably should be at this point!).

The produce here is STELLAR, well-priced, and features a number of local items. I also love buying meat and fish here; lots of sustainable options. I hear the bulk section will be filled in soon and I cant wait for that, as the prices there look great, too! Super friendly staff and community vibe.

As others have mentioned - the stores has a great produce selection with quality products throughout the store. Lots of locally produced goods. I particularly like the coop-coffee that gives a $1 donation to PACA. Excited to shop there in the future. My only complaint, and it’s most likely a personal oversight, is that I couldn’t find any hummus. The horror. 😂Some prepared food (made in-house or, if not possible, supplied by local makers) would be a nice addition as well but overall it’s a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and I look forward to doing my grocery shopping here.

Its nice. Its well stocked. The crew I encountered was very pleasant. I just find the prices kind of high for a co-op

If the goal of the food co-op is to be community focused, then why open an overpriced store in a neighborhood that already has affordable independent grocery options? 2 blocks east is South Philly Mini Market, with fresh produce, meat, organic dairy, hispanic specialty items. 3 blocks west is Langs Fruit & Produce. Seems to me that the goal here has less to do with food as a force for good and more to do with gentrification...

What a joy to have the South Philly Food Co-op open just a few blocks from my house! Not only will this allow me to have fresh local produce, but also help the neighborhood businesses! Please stop by to this new cooperative food market that is bright and vibrant and can be a hub for our community!

Fantastic little food co-op. Great assortment of fruits, vegetables, coffee, and other grocery items. Similar to Sprouts Market but smaller in scale, and more limited with grab-and-go prepared food.

Still under construction, but the plans look great.Update - Well, its now open to the public, this cooperatively owned grocery. Great produce with good prices. They are waiting on adjusting their packaged grocery inventory to better meet the mutual needs of its members and the community at large.Like all co-ops, thousands of households own an equal share with the power and responsibility of ownership in the operation and success of this enterprise.
