Its located in the strip district of Pittsburgh on Penn Avenue. This is the only place I can find eel sauce which is actually unagi sauce. Its the kinda sweet thicker soy sauce that you will get at Asian restaurants. I like the kikkomen brand the best because its thicker. The other brand is good but its a lot more runny. I always get a Ramune drink for my daughter. Its like their version of pop for lack of better word. As a little kid her and her friends liked it because there is a marble in it. Dont worry parents theres no chance of the marble coming out and its not a choking hazard. They also have a good selection of sea week snacks that are reasonably priced. The place is huge containing many items unfortunately I cant read most of the packages and there can be a language barrier when asking for help.
One of the best places downtown to get asian foods and snacks. Anything you need to make an Asian dish will be found here. Along with snacks, drinks and small meals and baked goods. Employees are always helpful and friendly as well. You can even find some home good items here like plates, bowls, rice cookers, etc. 10/10 I love this place. I added some pictures of things I purchased there today.
The very best and original products. One stop shop for all your needs
I shop here regularly to get my snack fix on new things. They have a fantastic variety of Asian foods as well as a Thai street food style indoor prepared food section which I adore. Its not the cleanest place but serves its purpose well for low priced goods of all sorts. The biggest con for me would be that the staff (mainly cashiers) are often less than friendly.
They have a really amazing selection of varied items and if you know what youre after youll get it at a decent price! But on the surface I will say it feels sorta touristy and you can tell they kind of bank on that, but its still getting people to try things new to them and thats what matters most! Cant reccomend enough!
Live all the Asian grocery. Too bad the Taiwanese readymade ready to eat orders are not there after the COVID19
Didnt feel very welcoming. Went in to buy a specific item. Ending up leaving, because we couldnt get any assistance. Everyone just kept walking by us. Went back a 2nd time, but not my first choice.
Amazing stock of everything in the store, friendly staff, and produce and poultry you cant get anywhere else.
This is one of my favorite Chinese grocery stores! Its always neat and clean, a good selection of products, the cashiers are friendly, fresh vegetables~ I also love the liveliness of the location. Definitely recommend!
Great selection and very reasonable prices. The veggies are always fresh. They make their own tofu too, and it is super yummy!
Decent selection of SE Asian goods at reasonable prices. Fresh fruit was a bit disappointing, but the freezer section is quite extensive. I usually get lucky, and park right in front of the store in the street.
One of the must go to stops when going to the strip district. Excellent selection of foods.
We loved this store! There is a great selection and there are really friendly people working there.
Lotus is one of my favorite stores. They always have wonderful surprises and unique items that save me money on takeout..
For the Pittsburgh area, the best Asian supermarket.
Best Asian grocery to shop in Pittsburgh! They are one of the oldest and longest running Asian grocery - Ive been going to Lotus since 2010 and around that time it was the only Asian grocery in Pittsburgh.Their selection is very impressive and has all the goods I need. I have not tried their hot food items but Ive heard great things. Definite would recommend them to anyone looking for an authentic Asian grocery shopping experience.
Not really a fan of the seafood smell... Very overwhelming.
Lotus foods shoping reminded of home with the special food items from asia and the Caribbean
Huge selection of cooking oils, sauces and noodles. I was able to get everything I was looking for in one stop! They have a fresh produce section as well.
So many options!! If youre looking for anything required for asian cuisine, youll most likely find it here, and for relatively cheap. They also have lots of other things such as bamboo cutting boards and tiger balm!
I’ve done most of my grocery shopping here for years now. great selection and prices, friendly and efficient staff.
Love that store, their veggies and fruits are my favorites. They offer so much stuffs from around the world 🌍
The best Asian snacks you can find them here
First time here. They have an unbelievable selection of food here. You just want to try so many things. I cant wait to go back. I had trouble finding 2 items and a worker quickly found what I needed. Great store, great prices!
Lotus is always a wonderful trip...Ive been to probably a half dozen asian markets in Pittsburgh, and this is my favorite by a pretty large margin. Why Lotus? After all, there are other places with larger inventories, or more expensive/exclusive offerings. The truth is this...Lotus has really reasonable prices, great selection, and the selection itself is unique to their store.Other stores might offer, for example, more brands of noodles, or a wider variety of produce, or more fresh fish selection, or a sauce that you cant find at Lotus...but I havent found anywhere else in the city where you can get ALL of those things at the same place that offers the same quality and variety that youll find at Lotus. Its truly a hidden gem of the strip. Check it out for yourself...just give yourself an hour or so. Theres a ton of great things to find!
Loved all the Asian food and groceries in there. Even if that is a Chinese store they have more south Asian food that we can’t find anywhere else in Pittsburgh. If you are a Chinese cuisine lover, Lotus Food company is recommended. They have Most uncommon foods like Jack Fruit and All Chinese sauce, Uncommon canned foods etc..Also the street has more Asian food and grocery stores and plenty of street parking around the store.
Better than NEOMED
Everything you need to cook a truly Asian food.
I love this shop!!! So clean, friendly and they accept ebt!! Which is awesome for the community
Excellent service. The have a lot of the items that I like to buy. Great produce and its well labelled
One of my favorite Asian grocery stores in the Strip. I get things here that I cant find anywhere else.
Love the stuff they have.
Nice Asian food market
I love shopping here. Not as good for Japanese snacks/candy as some people seem to think, but its not a Japanese store, so that makes sense.
Interesting assortment of traditional and Asian American products. Could be a little more organized and clean, but overall a good place to drop in and pick up necessities.
Nice store, reasonable prices.
Great market for Asian ingredients. Well organized and workers are generally always polite and helpful. Prices are fair, with a good selection. I always leave happy.
The latest management is great. Well stocked, variety of Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese and even some Korean groceries. Great assortment of fish cakes. My favorite place to shop in the Strip District.
I can get dried mushrooms, nori, miso paste, noodles galore, and loose tea! All in one place!
Best market to get your favorite Asian specialty products.always find something new each time I go. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
The groceries are awesome but theyre definitely not the highlight....the best thing at lotus is the prepared food! The woman running the counter is super sweet and made me a tasty Chinese omelet wrap. Its super unique -- you cant find this meal anywhere else in Pittsburgh and I had never seen it during my time living in Boston either. It came full of cilantro, sesame seeds, pig ears, sausage, beef brisket, homemade sauces, and more! It was super filling for lunch and I left feeling extremely happy and satisfied. Do yourself a favor and stop at Lotus for lunch next time youre in the area!
Great selection and prices. Good house made tofu if you can get there at the right time (I believe they make it Thursday afternoons). Careful with returns, you will need a receipt.
A very interesting Store, its well worth stopping in and taking a look around
Great variety of products. Lotus food offers grocery deliver via their website. It was a great experience from ordering to the delivery. I am excited to order from you all again!
Staff was very cordial and offered assistance
Great store and friendly people. Always willing to help you find what youre looking for. Great prices and wonderful selection!
Always very nice good price wide selection great exotic fruit...cool drinks
Always love Lotus. They have things you cant find anywhere else and at good prices.
Large variety of many asian goods.
Awesome! I love getting the big bags of gyoza for such a low price!!
Honestly the prices on sauces and book choy are so good. 2 bucks for fish sauce, 3 bucks for tub of chilli oil. Giant eagle needs to go die
Yes, I loved this place. My family ate until we threw up. That’s how good it was. Then we ate our vomit after we threw it up. It was a double blessing. We could not stop eating. There must be something addictive in the food. There were five of us. We ended up having about three meals out of one meal. Not only that, all of the groceries are amazing. If you can read Chinese or Japanese then you’ll be able to read for hours. If you read Korean, don’t go there. You’ll hate what the Korean packages say. Every time we go to Pennsylvania we stop in Pittsburgh at this place. I cannot highly recommend it enough. You’ll love it. Not only that you’ll love it so much that it’ll make you puke your pants.
I love the veggies and the Asian snacks. If you are looking for noodles they have plenty.
Great place to go to if you like to make your own sushi at home. They have variety of food available. Place is also clean and well maintained unlike other Asian markets Ive been to. They have fresh produce available too. Cheaper price than going to Giant Eagle. Staff can also speak English on a conversational manner and they know very well which aisle you can find what you are looking for.
Has all the food and ingredients I am looking for and at a good price.
Truly a trip to the Orient
Great selection of Asian groceries but a little tough to find parking.
Their delivery service is awesome!
Its one of the few more affordable Asian groceries for those seeking oriental food products. I never tried their boba, buns, or eggs but it looks good. They have a good varies of veggies but not much fruits. Its very clean and organize. Brightly lit too. Def a great spot to pick up seafood or veggies. I super recommend.
Sometimes its crowded, sometimes its not. I very much like this place.
Good selection of groceries and Asian food. Fan of fresh noodles and tofu. Wish they can clean sea food products there
Great selection of items not normally found in regular grocery stores, like mushrooms.
My favorite grocery store in the strip, great selection.
Affordable and has a wide selection of groceries. I got my wok there when I was in high school and I still have it 10 years later, so Id also say they sell some good quality stuff too! :)
Theyve got everything you could possibly be looking for. I love shopping here.
Wonderfully diverse selection of products you cant get elsewhere in pgh. Fresh seafood and tofu are also available. Staff is extremely helpful, can tell you where anything is or translate products
Nice little store, maybe a little difficult if you dont speak Chinese like me but Google helps. Usually have some fresh, live, highly edible creatures for sale. Something different each week so go on and be adventurous.
Probably there best Asian grocery store in Pittsburgh. The only real issue with getting there is parking sure to being located in the strip district. Their regular produce isnt the best but for Asian specialities they cant be beaten. I dont think theres another place I can go that has as good a selection of mushrooms, noodles, frozen dumplings, snacks, or sauces.
This a wonderful Asian food store in Pittsburghs Strip District. If you want to explore the world, what better way to connect than through the food. Not only will have the opportunity to explore the delectable array of cuisine, you will learn something about the culture and language.
Produce is cheap and delicious. 50 cent tofu on Saturdays.
Customer service need more of, ask a question they act dumb founded?🤷
Cool grocery store which has all kinds of strange stuff. We like buying the hell money which we take to work and scattered all over the place.
So fun! If you have every been to an Asian country or even just have an appreciation for Asian cuisin, you will love this grocery store. It carries all the most important and most interesting ingredients that are usually so hard to find elsewhere. They have plenty of fresh ingredients but their freezer section is amazing! There is also a little made-to-order cafe that you can get fresh steamed buns, bubble tea and so much more.
Excellent selection and prices. My new favorite store.
Its a very nice place to get Asian groceries.
Wow that’s all I can say! This place is amazing! It’s hard to find Asian markets in Pittsburgh however, I think I found my new favorite! Very good ingredients and hard to find foods! The prices are great and the staff is very friendly! I can safely say that I will recommend the lotus food company to any of my Asian friends new to the area!
Wonderful food for cooking in a great place. I love to take people here and pick out random foods to try.P.S. Taro Chips are the best :D
I love Lotus Foods! I come down here atleast once a month to pick up my favorite Asian candies and snacks. Great selection in every department of the store.
Came here when I decided to get more into Chinese cooking. They have everything you could want, from the niche ingredients to tools and everything in between.
A great place to get Asian foods in Pittsburgh. It is primarily a Chinese market, so they tend to carry those brands, but they do carry some Japanese and Korean brands as well. And they carry purple shiso (beefsteak/perilla plant) at a good price. I cant find everything for making Japanese food here, but it is a great selection overall. I will say that they dont always have their advertised produce in stock, and sometimes its of questionable quality/freshness, but overall good. They accept EBT food stamp payments as well.
This store is great. They have an amazing selection of imported good and the prices are phenomenal. There are lots of non standard proteins, vegetables and misc market goods.
Many selections of Asian products and fresh produce could be found in this store in the Stripe District of Pittsburgh.Anyone who like to cook up asian dishes could find your selection of ingredients and matching or accompanying spices available here. If you want to try to cook from recipes of a cookbook you would be delighted to be able to get them all in one shop. The shop is clean and well stocked.
Four stars cuz they don’t have fresh seafood/meat. Parking spots would be a little hard to find as well. But for sure you could find a lot of interesting stuff here
Nice selection of Chinese and Asian foods. Very reasonable prices and wide range of products. The largest selection of spices, oils, vinegars, sauces and ingredients around the Pittsburgh area. Plenty of fresh and frozen produce also. Located in the Strip District near plenty of other shopping, food specialty shops and ethnic food vendors. Highly recommend.
You looking for Asian sauces, snacks, vegetables, that amazing ramen they got it for sure!
Great selection
Best place in Pittsburgh to find any Asian ingredients or cookware, hands down. Prices are extremely reasonable, comparable to even grocers outside the city proper. If you need good seasonings, sauces, or rare ingredients, this is the place you need to check out if youre a culinary connoisseur that likes to step outside of the everyday american fare. Their bakery and their fresh fish are good as well.
Today I went and the cashier did not say one word to me. I smoked said hello, he pointed at the card reader for me to enter my card, I said thank you when he handed me the bag and he said nothing. When the customer before me he spoke to smiled at spoke to her child giggled ect. I cant even get a hello. I used to come here often but stopped coming so much because of the customer service. I always seem to get an unusual look or what can be described as moodiness when I have a question about something. The products are great but I will not come here anymore.
It is an Asian grocery store with a small food area. They have your typical Asian groceries such as whole fish, noodles, dumplings, sauces and vegetables. The food area serves things such as bubble tea and steamed buns. I liked their bubble tea because it was more traditional.
