First the positive: When I do actually reach someone, the people are usually friendly and are able to help. Ive never had an issue with any of the techs who come out to turn on/off water / set meters, etc.The negatives: Constantly frustrating to get a hold of anyone. I frequently call to have service turned on or off at various properties that are under rehab and its almost always at least a 1 hour wait. This company just needs more staff and/or add the ability to schedule appointments or set up new accounts without having to call in (online).
They are horrible to deal with. Most of their customer service workers are rude. They have attitudes and need a customer service training. There is no reason to be rude to EVERYONE you deal with. They have been like this for years. The only nice reps are the guys. The females act like its their time of the month EVERY time I call. I dont call often. THEY ARE WHAT YOU CALL PETTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. Why did I have to give have to give them 1 star?
Explain to me why I have to provide payment in a timely manner and they can shut my water off immediately but they do not have to provide an essential human service for which they have a monopoly over and I paid for it in a timely manner. This place should be illegal and whoever runs it should be fined and have millions of dollars returned to the Peele they provide service toA utility company that provides an essential service should not have this low of a rating. Wait times on a call take over an hour if you are even the fifth person in queue calling right when they open! This place should be shut down and disbanded. Who have them any authority over water for an entire region?? Authority should be taken away from these insensitive horrible people
My biggest issue with the company is the fact that you make it impossible to make it to the location if you work anything more than the most convenient schedule ever, yet you want to charge a convenience fee to pay online. This is the same even if I do paperless billing, so not only am I saving you money by not having you send out a bill, but you also want to charge me to pay online or even do AutoPay?!? This place has a backwards business model that seems like a money grab and is taking advantage of an already impoverished community.
Incompetent is an understatement - These people ripped our street apart over 3 weeks ago and still arent anywhere closed to finished! Our residential street is completely unusable, and today was the 4th time since theyve started that I havent been able to leave for groceries....Kids cant play, people cant walk their dogs, and heaven forbid you have to leave your home for work. Everyone involved should be ashamed.
Agree most with reviewer Jack: This outfit is truly awful, the worst of any utility company Ive ever had to deal with. Water gets shut off on average once every several weeks without warning. There is never any uptime estimate. It is impossible to get through to them on the phone. Their website is a joke. The little postcard-size bills they send get lost in the mail. The widely fluctuating water pressure blew out my hot water heater
Thank you. There was a water leak on our street. Something that could have been left for a week day. WPJWA came out on a Sunday and worked late into the night repairing and restoring water service. Thank you all
I have big respect for understaffed customer service workers, I understand it’s not their fault that I was on hold for almost 2 hours and now can’t even get through to be on hold. But the overall organization of this company is some of the worst I’ve ever seen. They make you jump through literal hoops just to sign up for an account. Their website is an absolute joke. I had to send in an actual letter application, like with a stamp, just to sign up for service. Plus they require a bunch of additional info that no other utility has ever requested. Now they’re threatening to shut off my service because I couldn’t get in contact with them, so I’m going to have to leave my job early and hope that someone in their office can actually help me. I hope this monopoly gets shut down. What a joke.
Anyone interested in joining a class action suit and attorney generals complaint against this company please contact me
The only way to sign up for service is to call a phone number that is perpetually busy. How do they even manage to stay in business if they can’t reliably sign up new customers is beyond me.
This past Friday I received 2 shut off notifications in the mail both dated separately. I have never even received a bill yet after initial startup. Whats the deal
Anyone else paying $100+, this includes the water bill and then the sewage fee whatever the heck that is.
For a week l have not been able to pay online but l am able to see the expensive *ss bill. Not able to check anything without it saying”No account information available.”I know how much it costs because that’s the only part with my account info that works.Fix this stupid site.
It is impossible to call them I was on hold for 3 hours and then got hung up on with no call back it’s ridiculous and it has happened multiple times

Some of the most incompetent people you could ever hope to not have to meet. Need anything done, you better send a letter in. Otherwise you’ll be on hold for two hours waiting to talk to one person.
We had a water main break on a Friday evening around the holidays and it was on their repairs list when we checked. Water was back on by 10pm! Appreciate the late night work in the winter - thanks!
I have lived in India, Cambodia, and Palestine and never have I experienced the level of ineptitude and disregard for decency that I have with this provider. I just moved to the area and was told my water could only be turned on after hours for a $25 fee. Fine. They give you an 8 hour window between 4:30pm and midnight, with no indication of when they will send someone out. I left for 20 min to get food (because how am I supposed to cook without water?) and missed the tech, who provided no time of arrival on the card or info on how to get my water turned on. Called the after hours emergency line (the only way to speak to a person) and was chastised for misuse because this wasnt an emergency. Not having water is absolutely an emergency. They said theyd send the tech out again for an ADDITIONAL $25 fee and again couldnt give a more specific time except before midnight. Utterly disgraceful to hold a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT hostage over people like this. I have been a resident in their service area for 72 hours (all without water) and would have made every effort to live outside their radius had I known this would be my provider. An utterly pathetic excuse for a utility provider.
Just came and shut my water off for no reason.
Bill was sent and they didnt accept it. They decided to tape a termination notice on my door instead of knocking when I made eye contact with the driver who delivered it. This disgusting company should go out of business. If you work here youre a loser bootlicker.
Horrible service. Wish I could give 0 stars. Rude, unprofessional, and shady. Add charges to your bill when your shut off. Then told me I owed $300 for 8 days of service???!!!
Im sitting here at 5:30am with no water, a known water main break around the corner, the whole community had had issues since 8pm last night and there are no trucks on the scene, no one working on the issue.... This company is a joke... I went to bed last night with low water pressure, but assumed it would be fixed by morning. Now I have none.
Dont buy a home in this area unless you are okay with the water pipes constantly breaking and the water being shut off without notice. Had work done in the street, they realized they had another problem few doors down. Blocked my neighbor from parking in her own driveway, blocked her in when she had to go work. Some with shampoo still in their hair getting ready for work. Its just too much. I swear, this is worst than pg&e. If I knew that wpjwa was a *insert inappropriate words here * I would have NEVER BOUGHT A HOME HERE.
Biggest joke ever.I love the bill.
The live customer service employees have always been courteous and helpful. Where the department fail, and fails epically is with the online options and website design. Its like a child developed the site as a school project. Anyone can tell not much time or money was invested.
I know things are going on, but I still have to move with one lease ending and another beginning. What Im gathering is that there is no way for me to get water to my new place since yall just decided to leave everything to the wind with no way for the people to get things done that need to happen. I see this is going to be a great experience...
Today is the 3rd day that the water company has turned off the water WITHOUT any kind of notification to its customers. Not even so much as a knock on the door to alert us that the water is being shut off. I have infants in the house and just tried to bathe them and no water!!! Theyve been out here since 9am and you mean to tell me in all that time no one thought or was instructed to inform the residents? Come on!!! Three times since Christmas Eve.
Until we actually receive the services we are paying for, well only be paying for days that we have working/clean water.this company is a sham. consistently, we are without water, or have sludge. its bad for us, and we cant count on being able to give our pets water- which makes me even angrier to think that there are CHILDREN in this neighborhood who have no water. they get one star only because its required. they deserve -12.
Won’t answer the phone
I know everyone hates the utility company and reviews dont do anything because you have to use them but WPJW has only ever been great to me. When my meter started leaking they fixed it 3 hours total from when i called to when the new one was in place. Another of my properties had a faulty wire which they replaced in a single day. They always pick up the phone and while it is no Ritz customer service line the people know how to sort the calls and make sure the issues are fixed.
I bought a new home in their region and immediately after closing as I was showing up they were shutting off my water. They told me that I could only go the the main office to turn it back on. Then I went to the main office and they told me they only do phone applications and do not take in person documents and I will need to fax everything. Then I call and it says there is a moratorium on shut offs and also that they only take in person applications. Then I speak to a person who tells me it is only over the phone. Then I am told if I get everything in today and I want it turned back on today it will be an extra $25.
I was in the process of buying a house. The water was turned off and the owners did not live there. To buy the house I wanted to see if the pipes where intact, so I needed the water turned on temporarily. They gave me a 4 hour time frame and would not give me a call when they are 15 min out. I do not live here and did not even have a key to the house. I had to have the water turned on for 3 separate occasions and was charged for each turn on. I could not put the water under my name because who knows what the current owners could do if there was water issues. The phone service as everyone states takes at least 25 minutes to an hour! I now own the house and the bill gets lost in the mail every time. I wish I knew what could be done about this company because they terrible. I would rather get root canal then deal with them.
In the year we’ve lived in our new home, our water has been shut off “for maintenance” on more occasions than I’ve experienced in my life. We consistently pay our bills on time (though they’re often stuck inside another piece of mail because they’re post cards and there’s no automatic withdrawal option), and you’d think that that would prevent us from having to deal with shut offs multiple times a month, but surprise! It doesn’t! Water is often shut off at the most inconvenient hours when people are home from work and/or getting ready for work, and we have never been notified of upcoming “maintenance” procedures and are instead, unpleasantly surprised and unprepared when this company decides to shut the water off on a whim. The company itself is difficult to deal with because they don’t provide answers when they’re called during their limited hours of availability, and their website is terrible to navigate and is never up to date. I also cannot find any information on when they welcome community members into their meetings; I’d love to attend something where the higher ups would listen to the community members their service (or lack of) is affecting.
These people are extremely rude and unwilling to work with their customers! Very different from all other utility services! They send out metered mail notices which dont arrive until several days after the date on their meter stamp giving them the ability to charge fees even after a bill has been paid. This stale mail practice is illegal and I will be filing a formal complaint with the postal service. If anyone else has had a similar experience I suggest you do the same! They have way too much power and they abuse it with impunity!
I own a rental house in the WPJWA service area, and I live out of state. One positive note: after tenants recently moved out, I was able to switch service back to my name over the phone instead of having to go to the office personally. This is a big improvement over the past, when I had to go in to change the billing. And the person I spoke to was courteous and competent. Thats why Im giving two stars instead of one. However...- The lack of online options for service requests is close to inexcusable in the 21st century in what is supposed to be a major metropolitan area.- Tenants moving from out of state for jobs should not have to go to an office (which is inconveniently located and difficult to find) to start service.- Please set up a pay-by-phone option, so you can get rid of the incredibly annoying on-hold message that says We do not currently offer pay by phone, voiced by Edith Bunkers evil twin. I am intimately familiar with this message because I was on hold for 49 minutes yesterday.- Every time I speak with them, I ask when they will begin accepting payments by phone, and they always say, in a month or two. It has been *four years.*Please join us in the 21st century.
Nothing I love more than waking up on Saturday to no water. Im really glad Im forced to use a company that shuts off water on my street whenever they feel like it, with no notifications. I mean Im unsure what I could have done while I was asleep, but waking up and not being able to give my dog water or take a sh*t really puts someone in a bad mood.
I would like to know how to give Half a star? Because this is whats deserved. I have gone here 5 times in 1 month because my paperwork was lost, information setup incorrectly. Now, Im getting other peoples bills to my address. Their phone system is garbage and options do not work. Then once in phone queue today, waited 20mins to be transferred to a full voice mailbox and the line was disconnected. Called back to get transferred to a Manager or live representative and they couldnt even do that. I have no words...
There’s constant water main breaks in the area. We are Constantly without water we’ve had no water since Christmas Eve!!! Couldn’t cook nothing. My mother has cancer and my kids have the flu and this by far is the worst company ever! What type of company allows their customers to go without water for days!!!!! But this company will shut your water off behind $20 but can’t get service promptly or get things fixed properly to have water. Unacceptable and not a very good Christmas.
I just cant believe a resource utility company cannot preserve resources (!!!) and go to paperless billing and automatic withdrawal. They shut off my water right as I moved into a new home because of a bill that the previous owner had not paid. They also force you to go there in person to start new service unlike other utility companies where service can be set up via phone.Staff is friendly though so they get a full star for that.
Made an appointment to get my water line checked out. Fast appointment and the man who came out was very professional, informative and friendly. Thanks for the help guys!
Website states that you can pay by check on-line for no charge; then it proceeds to charge for credit card and doesnt permit e-check to be used. Now offering Pay by Phone using either a credit card or E check. Please be aware that you will be charged a $1.75 convenience fee for using Online Bill Payment via credit cardThere is no option for e-check payment, only credit card with a $1.75 charge; if you use the phone payment option, its $2.25 extra.
This water company is criminal...their files are terrible, they dont register previous payments. They put charges for certified letter and posting notice charges / yellow posting notice charges without ever doing so, but put non-disputable charges on your bill. I have a home i havent lived in for months and still am charged for ZERO water usage. This company needs investigated and class action lawsuits filed for fraudulent charges. If you have an option as to where to live or water companies to use, steer clear of anywhere WPJWA services.
(1)Its smallest payment bill letter is too small be found in any MailBox(2) Pay biill on internet will be got more charge(3) the W-P joint Water big payment Building does not allow Customer goto restoroom. suoolized!
Terrible service. Cant reach anyone on the phone. Has a drive thru to pay your bills. Fees are $60 plus, not using any water. Told me they would turn on the water by 4pm. No one showed up, no one called.
These people are EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. It almost seems like they make an effort to hire people who enjoy abusing the customers. Obviously, it is very poorly managed. Its a water company that has to keep its customer service people behind bullet proof glass..... That should tell you the whole story.
These people belong in jail. I pay my bill every month. They send a shutoff notice out with every single bill and charge a $6 yellow notice fee every month. They charge an extra fee on top of that to pay your bill, and if you pay online they charge and third fee on top of that. All of these are illegal. They also like to claim you have a leak on occasion even if you have no leak. they then try and charge you hundreds of dollars and turn off your water without notice, and charge even more to turn it back on. You have to fight them every step of the way because they are dedicated to practicing fraud and theft.
The people who work there are very kind and understanding but the company itself doesnt provide much help. Just pry/ hope you find a way or you dont have water.
Water was requested shutoff by the previous upstairs tenant in my duplex, however the previous tenant didnt show up, or notify me in the downstairs apartment to let the water authority in. The Wilkinsburg-Penn Joint Water Authority decided to shut off the water at the curb, which affected my downstairs apartment. I am furious that a company would decide to shut off the entire house because it was requested that one part get shut off, rather than just reschedule at a different time and date. They came out within 30 minutes of my call to turn it back on, but the issue still remains that it wasnt delinquently shut off, it was a request that was executed poorly.
The people I have interacted with here have been pleasant enough. Thats about the only good thing I can say about WPJWA. High cost of water, cost of water quality penalties passed on to the consumer, paper bills only, no online service except for a bad website, minimum payments that encourages water consumption, INSANE hold times if you try to call, 4 hour start service windows and no 15 minute phone calls, extra cost for after hour start service beginning at 4 PM.As someone else said, a terrible company but you have to use them, so good luck! I do recommend reading through these reviews the next time youre on hold for 45 minutes.
Worst company to deal with and unfortunately, no other option in the area. Their little stub gets lost in the mail, then for a non-paid month, they charge you 3 different additional fees and good luck getting a hold of them. ABSOLUTELY WORST COMPANY I HAVE DEALT WITH IN 20 YEARS.
People at the office are not helpful and approach you with an attitude. They dont try to help customers....useless.they send out all notice with my bill so I get charged yellow and pink slips and when ? About this... Answered the mail people sometimes lose them...when asked then how come they all have the same postmark date. I was transferred to another window!
Worst company I have ever dealt with. They sent me a yellow notice which I was late last year. I paid it all. Then they kept sending me late notices every month even though I was current and saying I owed $118 and kept charging me the $6. The keep charging me for yellow notices and now say I owe $326. They keep doing this and getting away with it. But who do I call. No one.
I just moved to Penn Hills recently. I called to get my water turned on and the guy came out, turn the water on, then said to me everything set and handed me a piece of paper, then left without saying anything. Two weeks later I get a paper in the mail saying that I have to update my meter. I called to ask what I needed to update and they told me the guy that inspected it and turned it on should have told me. I looked at the paper that he did give me when he inspected the meter and there was things highlighted but he never said I needed to get any of it done. So then I had to call a plumber to fix what was highlighted and pay the plumber, then have them come back out to inspect it. The inspector came back to weeks later and told me that I needed something else updated, I asked why he hadnt told me this earlier and he said it shouldve been explained to me. Then I had to call the water company again do you have them c updated, I asked why he hadnt told me this earlier and he said it shouldve been explained to me. Then I had to call the water company again do you have them come shut my water off from outside and I was told that they would come at 9 AM and as long as the work was done and I called in before 4:30 PM they would come back out the same day to turn my water on but after 4:30 I would have to pay an emergency tech to come out. I had plumber come back out and read the meter a second time then drove to the office at 3:30 to let them know the work was done and they told me they couldnt come until tomorrow anc that if I wanted them to come out today Id have to pay an emergency tech.Apparently the lady I talked to the day before lied to me
On the phone waiting a half an hour, I am as pleasant as I can be because I KNOW that they are rude as hell and YEP, another rude employee here. At least you are all consistently rude, own that I guess. Miserable people.
Terrible... my bill has almost tripled, and when I called in to ask why? They said I must have a water leak somewhere which I know is a lie. It’s only me and my daughter so there is no way possible my bill should be this high. They are crooks.Long hold times, terrible customer service. Even when you pay the bill on time and in full.. the bill gets more expensive. Worst water company ever. I can’t wait to move 😡
Zero customer service and they shut off the entire block for maintenance at the hottest time of day on a really hot day. they charge poor people asinine amounts of money just to have water that tastes bad and probably is filled with lead. the sewage fees are outrageous. having to spend an entire afternoon on a 90 degree day with no water is ridiculous . they should do this overnight. you would think they could pay the overtime considering how much money they bleed from the poor. people who exploit the poor and take advantage and then leave them sitting in the heat with no water are the kind of people who end up in hell. I guess I can handle one day hot with no water the People who run this company can enjoy their eternity. I wish i could give negative stars.
The customer service sucks sausage. The girl sound like she was sleep and got hired from welfare to work. I dont care what goes on in her life but she need some caffeine or a man in her near future fast. I can not believe that they have the audacity to say that calls are being recorded. I want to just go up there and give Maria a red bull...She needs training and wings.
Computer answering clearly led me to accessing a customer service representative. He was very friendly and answered all my questions. They have been very clear and courteous with all the issues on 2 different service locations.
PAID MY BILL AND THEY CAME TO TURN WATER ON, BEFORE I COULD GET BACK HOME. THEN MADE ME WAIT AT HOME ALL DAY TILL AROUND 4PM TO COME BACK AND TURN IT ON UNBELIEVABLE.
Technically should have zero stars. Do not move to the Penn Hills/Wilkinsburg area. You will be stuck with a water company that absolutely will not work with its customers, and when you call in for any reason, you will need to be prepared to sit on hold for at least an hour. There are no other options for water in this area, so you HAVE to use them, and their rates are astronomical. Having a monopoly like this is almost criminal. The next house we buy in the area will have well water, and a septic system just so we dont have to deal with this horrible company anymore.
We had our main water line replaced and it is now 4 years of waiting for them to come out and pave the street but the gas company came out put a new line with a few months they came and pave my street why couldnt the water company split the cost with the gas company and do the whole street what we have to do wait another 4 years for them to come to fix our road
LOOOL Id write an explanation but Im pretty sure every other review covers it. 😂😂 Youd think theyd do something to fix it. Oh well. Sucks to be us 🤷🏽🤷🏽
Granted, I was behind in my bill so I am not upset that I was charged late fees. What I am upset about is that within 5 days they charged me three late fees. They sent out a 10-day shut off (pink notice) that included a late fee, then the very next day they sent me a new bill with another late fee. I got these notices on Friday and Saturday respectively. The office would have been closed by the time I got the shut off notice, but even if I had gotten to the office to pay that day I would have already been assessed another late fee based on the notice I wouldnt have received until Saturday. I made an online payment on Monday (2am), and then received a notice yesterday (Wednesday) that they assessed me another late fee the same day I made the payment online. This really irks me - if I made a payment online on Friday after getting the one notice, Im positive they wouldnt have processed until after Monday and they would still have assessed me 3 late fees. This is absolutely ridiculous and predatory! I have never dealt with anyone else who has charged so many fees in such a short period!
My meter broke when the temps dropped this week and they called me back right away and had workers at my house in less than two hours to replace it so I could turn my water back on. Great service!
The people I speak to are always nice, but I feel like I cannot contact this company at all. Every single time I call, I am at least caller number 6. It takes about 45 minutes to speak to someone. They do not have an option to call you back. You just have to sit on hold. I might just have to go into the actual office in order to speak to someone. Its ridiculous.
Horrible. Water main breaks about once a year in our neighborhood, then they come out and put a band-aid on it, and youre without water. When you call in to find out whats happened, they lie to you and tell you it is a routine flush. Sometimes this happens because they flush the fire hydrants, and it always breaks the main. Once they did this on Thanksgiving of all days. I guess the guys needed time and a half, but our block had no water for the holiday with all the people cooking and hosting guests. Also our water is foul, even when we filter assiduously it registers dissolved solids and tastes bad. Wish I could give them a negative star or choose another company.
I give them a negative 5 stars, does not even deserve 1 star. W P.J.W.A are crooks. They are a joke. Sewage fee is thru the roof. They need to have a borough meeting about this. Dont even waste youre time calling them on the phone. You will be stuck on hold for over an hour and a half. They dont deserve to be in business. I would complain, but nobody would care anyway They suck!
Sweet...my building was not notified that the water would be off due to work on Penn ave in Turtle creek. first, the business where i work is there and its food industry. that means i LOST an entire 8 hour day worth of pay...second, just so happens my car is in the shop which means i have to figure out how to get anywhere and PURCHASE water for my pets...not only was i completely inconvenienced, i lost a good amount of money. worst way to conduct business ever...
My Pipes broke in a rental house of mine because of a tenant not paying her gas bill and the water was running & running and there was no phone call of excessive water being used at that location. Received a letter in the mail. Plus a bill for over $4800.00 later! My complain is...that there should be a way to be prompt when noticing abnormal water usage in the middle of winter? A slight discount was added due to it being clean water which was appreciated. But there should have a warning in place for these types of situations.
Disaster. this business is a reason to pray for change in this modern world. Please see my posted question about this business.
Bills are sent on a postcard, which ends up getting lost on its way to my mailbox. This past week, I had a bill card, and two shut off notices (yellow and red) arrive on the same day. Another bill also arrived, showing that some was paid, and shut off would be Dec. 20th. Unfortunately, someone didnt get word--it was shut off today! I cant figure them out at all. Nothing matches the bills and my payments.
WPJWA is the worst utility company ever! Customer service is horrible with a wait time of who the heck knows, the more money I pay the more shut off notices I get, I pay my shut off on a Friday and still have to wait the weekend to get service but they didnt wait the weekend to take my money. I wonder what upper level I could complain to??
Lovely place to pay your water bill.
These guys are SUCK!!!!. If they tell you that you need a new water meter you better double check, I mean like go to the office and ask for records. This is the second time they told me I needed a new water meter, then when the repair man shows up he says everything this fine.
They break this law every month by billing late fees every billing cycle for prior bills that werent paid in full, resulting in multiple $6 fees for one month of service.§ 56.22. Accrual of late payment charges.(a) Every public utility subject to this chapter is prohibited from levying or assessing a late charge or penalty on any overdue public utility bill, as defined in § 56.21 (relating to payment), in an amount which exceeds 1.5% interest per month on the overdue balance of the bill. These charges are to be calculated on the overdue portions of the bill only. The interest rate, when annualized, may not exceed 18% simple interest per annum.(b) An additional charge or fixed fee designed to recover the cost of a subsequent rebilling may not be charged by a regulated public utility.(c) Late payment charges may not be imposed on disputed estimated bills, unless the estimated bill was required because public utility personnel were willfully denied access to the affected premises to obtain an actual meter reading.(d) A public utility may waive late payment charges on any customer accounts. The Commission may only order a waiver of late payment charges levied by a public utility as a result of a delinquent account for customers with a gross monthly household income not exceeding 150% of the Federal poverty level. See 66 Pa.C.S. § 1409 (relating to late payment charge waiver).
Please step into the 21st Century WPJWA!!!! I was slightly worried about calling them based on all of the other reviews, and my worries were confirmed... After being on hold for just shy of an hour, a customer service person answers the phone asking for my account number. I attempt to explain that I dont have an account but I was calling about turning the water on on a property Im attempting to purchase. Before I could get any of that out she interrupts me with what is the address of the property? Then with an attitude explains that I have to come into the office with identification and the sales contract to open up an account!?! (For contrast, I had to do the same thing with the gas company. The whole process took less than 20 minutes to get an account set up and to set a turn-on appointment. Thank you Peoples Natural Gas, very helpful!)Here are some questions for you WPJWA:- You have a very out of date business model. Why dont you offer account set-up and account management services via website or phone?- How are you training your customer service reps? You win people over by helpfulness and kindness, not by rudeness and unwillingness to help.PLEASE take these reviews into consideration moving forward!
Hold times are insane to talk to someone. The pa utility commission should really look into this company. As a public service they are horrible.
I dont understand how this company is still in business. They need to hire new management. This company knows nothing about customer service. I dont even live in the area. I am a real estate investor, and they make it hard to invest in the areas they manage. They charged me $100 dollars to replace a meter I never had. I read the rule book, and they clearly state that new service doesnt have to pay for a water meter. Then the rep tried to tell me that there was a meter in there and maybe my plumber took it. I told her to check the last reading and it was 1-4-14. I purchased the home 9-1-15. Then she says the last owners were suppose to pay for the meter. So then obviously if you charged the last owner for a meter then there wasnt one when you turned the water off. She claims that its not a lien, but things like that just travel with the propertys account. That makes no sense, because in the rules it says they will not turn on service if the account has debt. They turned mines on then found these bogus charges. Now, after having the meter for only a month they are making me upgrade the meter they just provided me. They are unable to give you a curtesy call, so you have to sit at the property all day until they arrive. This company is horrible. They dont respect their customers. Im sending a letter to the representative of the borough of Wilkinsburg. Ive never had so much trouble with a utility company. Its 2015 and you have to go to the office to fill out an app and pay the bill. Something needs to be done about this horrible water company. They think they can treat people any kind of way because they are the only water company that service the area.
I have never called and had less then a 45 min hold time on the phone. When I drive there everyone is standing around talking while people are on hold. Seems like they talk and mess around then take a call on hold when they feel like it. explains the long hold times.
Well this company is very poor when it comes to service to its customers.. they offer no type of payment plan and will cut you off even if your payment is processed through a 3rd party which can be verified. never use the doxo service, i did and still my water was shut off. when the water meter failed because of age, i was charged $50 to replace it and it was their equipment that clearly caused the problem. this is the worst of utilitly companies i have ever used, but we have no choice..
They are truly terrible. Their hours suck. They improperly document bills and charge bogus fees, sometimes even doubling up on these fees that were incorrectly charged to begin with. They threaten you with termination of service due to their incompetence. They send these letters dated 6-8 days prior to the actual receipt of the document demanding immediate access to the property, giving you completely unrealistic deadlines for something as simple as reading a meter. If I had a choice, I would pump my own water straight from the Allegheny or this random creek that isnt far from my house. That has to be a simpler process than dealing with these con artists.
Terrible service, WPWJ has no respect for paying customers, how any of these people have job is beyond me. The whole company needs replaced by someone who actually cares about the customers they serve. They turn off water with no notice. Lie to customers. Good luck trying to call someone, thier emergency phone service is a voicemail and nobody returns your call. I’m moving out of this area for no other reason then the horrible water company. If Allegheny County does not want to fix this situation then they don’t need my tax money. My water bill has tripled over the last 3 years but somehow they still don’t have money to make a real repair on my water main that breaks at least once a month.
Water main broke on my street at 8pm. They shut it off and just now 12 hours later people are showing up to work on it. Third world countries have more reliable infrastructure than these guys.
I dont know what everyone is talking about, Ive had a fantastic experience! In and out in under 10 minutes! Very kind and helpful.
If I could give a negative 5 I absolutely would. I dont think they even have a up to date computer. I only saw a typewriter from 1980. I cant find any agency that deals with them for help. They dont even try to work with you. They suck, flat out just suck💯💯💯
My favorite water service. Customer service is the BEST!
Worst company to deal with period, it sucks that I am stuck with them. It takes about 1 hour and 34 min IVR time waiting for an agent to pick up. No callback option. Customer service is very poor. Company does not deserve 1 star, I wish zero was an option.
Absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Every other public utility should use them as an example of what NOT to do and how NOT to treat customers. They are in breach of the Geneva Convention with how they treat human beings. I wish PA deregulated water service because I would pay 3 times the rate to never speak with them again.
The attendee was very friendly and quick. Lots of people in line for window service!! YeA
It cool until it time to pay my water and sewage bill😩😩😩😩😩
Takes about 45min - 1 hour to get connected. Doesn’t explain things well. Miscommunication between people at the office and the guys outside working. Just a big fail this place
They have changed their billing system and do not credit my payments in a timely manner. But, then all of a sudden they really quickly send a registered letter termination notice. I agree with other reviews, they are incompetent and take it out on customers. They did a good job when they billed every three months, but since the change they are a mess!
When you get bad mouth by everyone that work there, your the one the get it the worst.... smh
Dont waste your time reading the Public Utilities Commission {PUC} website because this Utility company isnt part of it, which gives reasoning why they treat consumers the way they do! My water was turned off without notice because they had to repair a remote pad BUT the bills came each month which were paid. I came in from work one evening and to my surprise had no water to bath, flush toilet...etc I took today off to get this resolved but my advice to anyone reading this review and making a decision to move to this area to consider the small things like the utility company servicing the residence. its unbelievable that this company isnt held to the PUC standards an is allowed to do as will! terrible service to say the least!
Horrible. One of the worst companies. How on earth did they win but?Third world company at best and I lived in a 3rd wworld country
On one occasion, a tenant was moving out of the 1st floor apartment and scheduled a water shut off. I, the landlord, was not notified of the shutoff appointment. The tenant failed to be present at the scheduled time and WPJWA shut the water off for the entire building. The rest of the tenants in the building were left without water until WPJWA scheduled a turn on at my request. At no fault of their own, patrons in good standing were casually left without service. Terrible policy with a complete disregard for their customers.
The guy who collects payments is understanding and reasonable to work with. The company has no compassion.
About only 20 minute wait at drive through at 5:15 pm (open until 6:30 pm). Friendly and helpful clerk who handled my new application in less than 10 minutes.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Rude, unhelpful and down right disrespectful every time i call. Ive had my water shut off several times because they were trying to shut off someone elses water. They ALWAYS shut off mine by mistake! Spend 1 hour each time on hold every time i call. I wish i had another option. One star is too good for this company!
One of the highest sewage costs allgheny county but the worst at fizing any problems. Everyone in a lower part of penn hills has basement back ups from storms and wrong size piping in the ground. Plz fix or lower the costs. Insane flooding problems here
