This is my favorite place to buy coffee beans.Its a fun, immersive experience picking out your beans! They have a wall of single origin coffees, two rows of flavored coffees, and a wall of tea!I love that you get to fill your bags yourself. If theres a coffee you want to try, you only need to get enough to make a pot. You dont need to buy a whole pound to realize its not for you! (Then, of course you can get a large bag of the beans you know you love!)My favorite is an Ethiopia, though if youre more of a flavored bean person, checkout the pistachio!I lived in Nashville for awhile, and one of my favorite parts of coming home was visiting Allegheny coffee!

This place has awesome coffee. If you’re in Pittsburgh and you love coffee then it’s a must go! The coffee is delicious, there are a ton of flavors, and the prices are great. Also, the shop is neat, going there is a fun experience. Every time I’m in town I have to stop here!

This place is fantastic! Not only do they have a wide variety of bean choices but the prices per lb are completely reasonable. The staff are super friendly and helpful. And they are also dog friendly, which is a major perk for me, considering I love taking my dog everywhere I can! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves coffee!

They have plenty of tea options too. Lots of different whole coffee beans to buy in the amounts YOU chose.They will grind too. They have decaffeinated options too.

Was visiting the Strip District with family. Dropped in for a coffee. What a great place. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Love the coffee. You can get various types to take home. Roasted fresh. Enjoyed seeing the roaster. Was surprised that they have cold coffee on tap. The triple espresso is great as is the caramel latte. Will be back when I return to town.

Good coffee, good prices and decent service. I like that they roast their own beans from around the world. Few places do that I find. You will find an excellent selection of beans and teas. Quaint environment with nice folks to answer your questions. I highly recommend this cafe.

Having stopped in because my usual roaster had a fire, I purchased two flavored coffees and a dark roast. I never thought whole bean fresh roasted could be qualified as “bad” however I can honestly say I have had store brand whole bean that had more body than these. The flavored coffee, the flavor was somewhat there but no matter how many beans I’ve used, this was just weak, nondescript coffee and not worth paying any sort of premium for.

AMAZING coffee! The only downfall is that this coffee is so good, now all other coffees taste mediocre to me! I would much rather support this business than other companies anyways! The people there are always very friendly and helpful as well 🙂

My mom loves their highlander grogg coffee blend, so I ordered her a 1 lb. bag for Mothers Day and had it sent to her house. I got an email notification that it shipped the very same day, and she received it the next day! In addition I had left a note that this was a Mothers Day gift and to use a gift receipt, and not only did they do that, but also sent along a cute Happy Mothers Day flyer! That was so thoughtful and really went the extra mile. We will be happy to buy again!

Great place with great staff and delicious drinks. I love that they have coconut milk as an option. Plus they have Nitro coffee, which is very interesting and smooth with some beer-like froth.Theres also an interesting section where they have a large selection of coffee that you can take some yourself!

Stopped in today with my fiance at the recommendation of a security guard nearby. The staff was incredibly friendly which was my favorite part of the experience. They were nice and didnt mind explaining stuff to us. My fiance and I both got a nitro coffee while we explored the strip in the rainy weather. It was so nice! I normally cant drink coffee black but I was able to drink this because it was so flavorful and delicious.My fiance drinks coffee black all the time. We both got different coffees. I got cupids kiss and I am not sure what my fiance got because he asked the employee to surprise him. Both were so delicious. You can really taste the flavors that are listed in the descriptions. Overall, it was a great experience and we plan to make it a place we visit whenever we go back for our usual dispensary visits!

I should give this place 1 star for ruining my love for Starbucks coffee that I can’t ever go back to it. No, seriously but coffee here if you want that legit, not stepped on, one hit will make for face freeze, has a clean buzz for the whole day. It’s straight from the plug.... Coffee, what did you think I was talking about?The Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They have draft brew coffee that’s insanely good. I recommend, Ethiopian light roast or the Kona !

Between this place and La Prima, Im not sure who I would put in first. They both have a unique experience to offer their guests, so it would be worthwhile to visit both! The thing I liked about Allegheny was their wild variety of beans to choose from. I ended up bagging a rather traditional Kona blend, and its been great to drink in the morning at home.

Excellent selection of teas and coffees. I havent bought much tea here but I have bought quite a bit of coffee. Truly exceptional quality coffees are available for every price range and different taste. They have multiple different flavored coffees available as well as many different light and dark roasts to choose from.Staff is friendly and super helpful.In addition to the coffee and tea in bulk, they also have the citys finest nitro coffee. Available in to go cups as well as in growlers, its a must have if you like darker brewed coffees. The nitro is velvety, rich and an absolute delight to be enjoyed slowly rather than gulped.Great place to buy coffee, whether whole bean, freshly ground in house or in a cup to go.

The chai latte tasted very sweet and artificial with very little tea favour. When you first walk in, all you smell is the flavoured coffee and syrups. If you want a very good coffee or tea, head to the authentic La Prima just down the street.

AMAZING coffee. We order their hazelnut + amaretto coffees now in bulk from out-of-state because they are just that good. Its worth the shipping fees! Truly the best flavored coffee Ive ever had.

Good coffee! I have stopped in multiple times for coffee and have really enjoyed my experience. My only caution - watch your lid! 2 separate times, 2 weeks apart the lid has dripped on my white shirt while drinking. Maybe I’m a slob or maybe it’s the lid. (Shrug)

Best place in Pittsburgh to purchase quality coffee and tea by the pound. Allegheny has a large selection of coffee from all over the world, including many types of flavored coffees. You can select whole beans and grind them fresh right there using their machines. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans upon walking into the store is intoxicating. I almost always purchase a hot coffee or a cool nitro coffee in the summer when Im shopping there as well. The baristas and store clerks are super friendly making for an even better experience. You definitely want to stop in on your next trip to the Strip District!

Best coffee Ive ever had hands down.

Even under Covid protocols, this is one of the best stores/coffee bars in the area. I go out of my way to shop or grab a coffee here every time.

Staff was present, but rather than approach me, they let me explore. I appreciated that. After reading helpful descriptions and smelling the beans I might be interested in I chose their Tanzanian Peaberry. I was able to grind it there. They do have clearly marked, separate grinders for the flavored coffees so there werent any surprise flavors when I brewed the best damn coffee I think Ive ever had.

Cant go wrong with a place that has excellent coffee & tea...........(and keeps the MIL happy ;) )

Wonderful humans with wonderful brew in every flavor!

While visiting Pittsburgh, we stopped by this tea shop to buy some new teas to bring home. We bought Earl Grey Red and Summer Fruit Flavor. The Summer Fruit Flavor is incredibly delicious severed chilled. I havent tried the Earl Grey yet, but Im sure its equally superb. This place had dozens of tea and coffee flavors to choose from. Definitely check it out if youre a tea and/or coffee fan!

Cool place, has huge selection of whole bean coffees (and I guess teas too, tea just isnt my jam) the staff is always really nice and Im always in and out when Im there.My only note is that the roast date on the whole bean coffee often isnt great and they don’t put the roasted date on the coffee bag unless you specifically ask (and I think it’s a hallmark of serious coffee roasters to put a “roasted on xx/xx” on the bag.) Its not uncommon for the coffee to be roasted 2 to 4 weeks ago, which doesnt always feel that fresh. Especially if youre paying $55 for Jamican Blue mountain or some other premium coffee. My suggestion would be to roast smaller batches so you can keep it fresher.

The staff is always so accommodating, whether you are questioning syrups which wont curdle your home brewed lattes, or getting a preferred roast. Their takeaway drink service is stellar. This is always a go to stop on our Strip District trips.

One of the guys at the counter was rude. I asked for a tasting before buying the coffee. He charged me for three cups of coffee which I chucked after tasting. He said we don’t do tasting. Bad customer service.

Allegheny Coffee was at the top of my list of things to do on a recent trip from Iowa to see my son. The young men working in the shop that day were amazing, friendly, and quick. Needless to say, I am all stocked up with the best coffee and also brought some back for my friend. I know I can get the products online, but much prefer the shop when we visit..

Hands down largest selection of Coffee in the city. As a Decaf Drinker they have 10 different kinds of coffee. Try the Indian Malabar you wont regret it.

I dont know what to say. I LOVE THIS PLACE. The location is perfect although hard to find parking at times. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful as well. I buy my coffee here to grind at home. I have my go to favorites but I also like to try the dozens of other coffee beans they have here. All fresh and high quality. This place has me spoiled. Even when I go out to breakfast I brew my coffee at home and take it with me to enjoy.

I have to drink decaf, and they have many flavors to choose from. Caramel Almond Cream is so good.

I will go out of my way for this coffee. Its by far my favorite place for an iced latte (specifically the salted caramel)! The staff is very friendly and typically quite entertaining to watch interact with one another and their customers. A trip to the Strip should always include a visit to Allegheny Coffee & Tea Exchange. Youll know where to find it if you follow your nose, the heavenly smell of coffee permeates into the street!

Ahhh... Not enough words to express how I love this place

The people at the cafe know what they are doing and make a delicious cup of coffee. I also loved that there was a good selection of sugar free flavor shots (most places have vanilla and maybe caramel!). Their flavored coffee is made of high quality beans and is true to flavor. This is a great place to buy a gift for the coffee or tea fan in your life or to just grab a cup for yourself.

However, the icing on the cake is the fantastic customer service. We love this place! Great coffee selection and they have fantastic house blends. They also have a fairly modest collection of teas both loose leaf and bagged. Not always easy to park in the strip district but nonetheless we go out of our way for their coffee.

A wonderful store. I always stop by when Im visiting home to pick up a few pounds of coffee. The staff are wonderful and the breadth and quality of the options is astounding.But Im writing this during the COVID pandemic, which finds in me in a bit of a good-coffee desert. I have been ordering from Allegheny Coffee, and they routinely ship out my orders within hours of them being placed. I am oh so grateful for their extra effort making sure I am properly caffeinated. Also, their prices are very reasonable. I have seen coffee they sell for $13.95 a pound in more hipstery coffee shops for $24.99 a pound.Thank you, Allegheny Coffee.

This is my favorite, FAVORITE tea and coffee shop! Their selection is incredible for both tea and coffee. One of the things I was most looking forward to with moving to the Pittsburgh area was having easy access to the Exchange... seriously. I had been a devoted tea fan of theirs and decided to give their coffee a try. I figured the House Blend would be a good place to start and even though I typically get whole bean I ground it there to take home. I offered a cup to my aunt, who is a regular black coffee drinker, and she made a point of telling me how good it was. And it is! I use a Melitta single use maker (which I found at the Exchange for a great price) and it is perfect every time!

Convenient location toward the north of the strip, you can smell it a block away. Big selection of in house roasted flavoured coffees by the weight and coffee bar. Its fun to see what interesting flavors are out there, and when you can scoop your own beans its always easy to experiment. Ive been enjoying the raspberry and coconut coffees recently.
