Ive been here a few times and have never been disappointed! I highly recommend the Ghent (speculoos and bananas on a waffle) - its amazingly delicious!

Excellent! Expensive, but really high quality. Ive never had one in Belgium, but Im guessing these are pretty authentic. Even if theyre not, theyre delicious. Served with a generous scoop of ice cream on top, a real treat. Everyone in our party enjoyed them.

Love this little neighborhood spot. The service is always amazing and you get so. much. food for the price! I have never seen prices like this . In addition, their menu is so flexible. You can fill up 2 people how big the portions is . Get the waffle with ice cream --it comes with whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate chips and is essentially a decadent dessert. Unlike other city breakfast spots that just focus on being trendy, this place actually delivers, good prices, and a nice atmosphere. Love it!

Waffallonia is nothing to rave about. Five dollars for a waffle that my kids could have made a whole lot better than this place. The waffle was dense and chewy. There was no crunch. The waffle came out with burnt bits from the uncleaned and obviously not maintained waffle machine. The berries were OK, but there really wasnt enough. Nothing to say about the whipped cream.. Nature made the berries, somehow they were able to kept them fresh. Everyone should check it out. You can just go for yourself!(~);}

Try order Antwerp with extra ice cream ball (recommend nutella and speculoos flavors) it won’t go wrong!

Why oh why don’t they have syrup? Don’t go here for breakfast or brunch. This is really a desert restaurant. We ended up at eat-n-Park for brunch.

Unsure why so many positive comments. I must be missing something. If this is the standard of Belgian waffles, well remind me not to get any if I am in Belgium. Glorified sweet pizza dough with finely chopped strawberries isnt my thing, as I discovered there. Couldnt even tell if the berries were fresh or not, they were in such tiny pieces. Then, no coffee. Not a single non-sugary drink besides water. Staff not so enthusiastic. I know theres Covid stress, but maybe a little interest in greeting customers pleasantly. Next time, maybe I will wait in line at Pamelas next door. They say you should always go to the restaurant with the most cars in the parking lot, so to say. Lesson learned.

Yummy yummy waffles! Very very good- you cant go wrong with any of them! The place is very small- only about 2 sitting tables but the waffles are so good.

When I went here the guy making the waffles had pre made waffles sitting already. All he did was warm them up which made it super chewy. He did not use fresh batter to make the waffle. Went with high expectations, but super disappointed!

Go to place to get a dessert or just a super delicious snack, anytime Im in Sq. Hill. Delicious waffles and milkshakes make it a absolute hidden gem.

You cannot go wrong with anything you order here, it is the very best. It is a small place with a loyal fan base that keeps on growing as more and more people find out about it. Highly recommended anytime you are in Pittsburgh.

Its good not great. The waffle could have more flavor. I ordered the Antwerp with vanilla bean ice cream. I think the ice cream overshadowed the waffle. The staff was OK. A smile goes a long way, even a hint of a smile makes the service so much better. Sitting is tight and old. Would I visit again? Yes. Pricing--$$

Does it get better than this? A freshly cooked waffle with your choice of toppings. The place was REALLY small and had limited seating. But the treats make it worth it - go, go, go! What are you waiting for?!

I always get the waffle with the speculoos ice cream. Its quite frankly the best dessert ever. There is no way to describe it, you just have to try it.

A small shop on Murray which serves probably the tastiest waffles I ever ate.My friend suggested me to try cookie butter and it was really tasty.The waffles are crispy outside and fluffy inside.They have great options to include Nutella or icecream to their waffles.You have dont have many options for the toppings, but you can still Make your own Waffle there.

Im not a giant fan of waffles but got one with a friend. Ended up immediately getting a second one. Highly recommend for a snack!

Waffalonia is very tasty indeed, however my last visit I had a hair in my waffle. My friend had this same experience twice. Not great experiences.

I had the best waffle of my entire life this morning. I got the liege waffle with whipped cream and blueberries.

Food was great. The smell of the waffles filled the entire place, very very potent and awesome. Staff was alright. Very small location, but good experience nonetheless.

The waffle was good but I was a little confused when he poured a batter into the waffle iron. I know Liege waffles as being a dough with pearl sugar that is more dense than what I got here. I was a good waffle and I would recommend.

Such an amazing little waffle shop. Menu is super simple and sweet. Walk up and order, you can take it to go or sit and it there. I got the Ghent which had speculoos and bananas, on top of a sweet warm delicious waffle. Definitely check this place out if your in squirrel hill.

Super Duper slow! The staff has no sense of urgency. I guess if you’re spending money on a dessert item you shouldn’t be in a hurry, but at the same time it’s frustrating to be in a business without any other customers and still see the staff moving around so slowly! Food is always super delicious but I’m always frustrated with the pace.

This is my new favorite dessert! The soft warmth of a fresh waffle topped with creamy ice cream and fruit is just the best thing ever! I wish they had more seating because this isn’t something you want to (or can) take home with you. It’s best enjoyed right there and the limited seating options can hamper that. The waffles themselves more than make up for that!! I went with the Antwerp which is their sugar waffle topped with ice cream - I for Nutella flavored ice cream and chocolate sauce. I also added the speculoos syrup which is, trust me, only the best thing ever!! You know those Biscotti cookies that are given out on United? This is a syrup made out of those and is just about the best addition to those waffles. Definitely recommend speculoos on anything you order here. The staff is polite. Be ready for a bit of a wait because making those waffles fresh for each order creates a bit of a bottleneck but it’ll be worth it, trust me!

This place had a chill, relaxed vibe and numerous options for delicious waffle-confections. My waffle was a botched job, unfortunately - not cooked enough, a little bit more than half of it was still batter inside. But that was just one experience, the waffle did look like it was done, the mistake was totally understandable. It wont polarize my opinion. The waffle-technician was not acting in any way that made me think he was being lazy, incompetent, malicious, or inconsiderate. The other ingredients were fresh, the place was clean and well kept. So while I cant give it more stars, its not because it was aweful or gross. Pobodys nerfect, accidents happen, Ill give them another chance sometime when Im in the area, for sure.

This place is very good. The waffles taste great and so do the ice creams and toppings. The first time I went the guy didnt have much patience. It was my first time and I thought it a bit rude. However the second time I went the girl was awesome. Very kind and explained things in detail.

A great place to stop in for a quick dessert. I never heard of this place before, but you can smell it when youre walking down the street. I had the Ghent waffle with banana slices and cookie butter. The waffles are warm and fluffy, and the fragrance never gets old.

Freshly made Belgian Waffles with various toppings, and Ice Cream! There are a handful of locations in Pittsburgh, and all of them are a great stop for your sweet tooth. Each waffle is fresh off the griddle, and sweet enough to eat plain. They also whip up their own whipped cream, and have fresh fruit toppings. The Squirrel Hill location is a cozy nook and isnt big on seating, but that encourages you to take your waffle and munch it outside! Nomnomnomnomnom

Fantastic place for Belgian sugar waffles. They not only have waffles that they make fresh on site, but also a variety of toppings and configurations that you can order for your waffle, including fruit or ice cream, just to name a few. Just be warned though, there isnt exactly much seating in this place to begin with so dont come with a big group

Pretty solid sugar waffles that are hard to fine anywhere else in the area. The sugary dough is different from waffles that you would find in stores or at many diners. Depending on how much sweetness you want, you may find a waffle with no toppings sufficiently good; or if youre up for it, go ahead and indulge on the ice cream, nutella, or fruit!

I am from Oklahoma City. My sister goes to school in Pittsburgh and my family was visiting her over Memorial Day Weekend. We went to Waffalonia to celebrate my Mothers Birthday and it was great! This is one of my mothers favorite places in Pittsburgh and this trip was excellent. We were there about 30 minutes before closing time, but the employee working that night (Im so sorry I didnt catch his name!) was VERY kind and patient with us while all six of us ordered. The menu is simple the waffles are fresh and tasty. I would definitely suggest this place for a treat!

It is a small location, which meant our party of four had to take our food to go. The late night staff gave my wife a blank stare when she tried to be friendly and then ignored her questions about the menu and didnt say anything until we gave our order. The waffles were... Okay. Its possible the off-putting service caused us to be less than satisfied with the food.

It used to be good. Last time i orderd a waffle with few toppings, i received a cold and old waffle that was like chewing a piece of rubber with clusters of sugar in it. I thought it was a one time thing and went back and saw 2 waffels sitting on the counter in the air so i asked politely if it is possible to get a fresh waffle and the answer was NO. I said thank you and left.Why did he say no!?You can figure it on your own when you go there.Theres a new spot in oakland called treats and beans where you can be treated with dignity and get fresh waffles made while you wait instead of wasting your money.

We arrived pretty late but the woman working there was still super pleasant. as the other reviews note, there isnt much for seating so we took ours to go. she was able to package the Dave & Andys ice cream separately and we built our own when we got home. I have never had a waffle like this in my life...its incredible delightful risen dough rather than the flour/water/egg batter you grew up on. youll never want your moms waffles again.

Be careful these sweet waffles are slightly addicting. I never had a Liège waffle before coming here but I have to think that these are the best in the world. Decent prices, fast and friendly service.The only downside is that the seating area is tight. It would not accommodate a large crowd.But you eat these so fast that the turnover is fairly quick.

Cute walk up counter shop with a tasty limited menu. NOT authentic Belgian waffles (if youve ever had a real one from Belgium!), but still tasty esp with strawberries and whip! A good choice esp if the line at pamelas next door is too long.

Weird textured waffle but definitely tasty

Hole in the wall in Squirrel Hill where you can get yummy Belgian-style dessert waffles- coated in melted sugar and served with your choice of sweet toppings. We had one so-so experience where there was a huge line and a newer employee was rushing thru cooking the waffles- several came out undercooked and doughy. It does take awhile to get a waffle made, especially if Waffalonia is busy (itd be great if they invested in a second waffle maker!), but it is so good when done right and its a great late-night dessert option near other eateries and a movie theater!

Place is a little hole in the wall, waffles were excellent, no real atmosphere, very few choices of toppings and they were OUT OF BELGIAN HOT COCOA. When you only have like 10 menu choices, stock them appropriately.
