My experience at Toyota of Portsmouth was exceptional. We were assisted by Joe, Marc, Dan, Matt, and team who all made for a welcoming and very helpful environment in this new car economy! We could not be happier with the service they provided while I was there at the dealership and even when I needed answers to my questions at home. They really do look out for their customers in making sure they are getting the best offer. I have to share the story because these guys deserve exactly what I write! So my wife and I are on our way to Newport Rhode Island to celebrate our anniversary however it was cut short by service hybrid system in our Toyota Prius! The car was telling us to stop in a safe place immediately, thankfully we were near Portsmouth Toyota! I went into the service department and was greeted very professionally and was taken care of immediately by a service writer! Tom who was the technician took my car and scanned it and was able to reset the codes and send us back on our way so we could celebrate our anniversary! At the very end, I said how much do I owe you guys and they said no worries have a great anniversary! Who does that? No service charge? Nothing is free today but these guys felt there wasn’t a need to give us a bill and we are so grateful and thankful to Portsmouth Toyota for the love they showed! Service Dept: Very Happy with my recent brake service visit for my 2015 RX-350! John the Service manager is very knowledgeable and professional. With almost 90K miles there was a brake pulsation in the steering wheel especially at high speeds. Rotors removed and machined with a pad replacement at all four corners. Also had the recommended (30K) brake fluid flush done. Wheel nuts torqued to manufacturer spec of 80ftlbs! Mileage updated in the maintenance section on the dash Nav Display! Attention to detail for this work was amazing and certainly matches or surpasses any Lexus dealer at probably half the price! My only question is why a $19.95 charge for my requested tire rotation (J# 3) when wheels need to be removed for this work anyways? Do not hesitate to bring your Toyota here for any type of maintenance! I will be back!

After searching all over Maine for a Toyota 4-Runner and striking out, we decided to look outside the state. We found one on Toyota of Portsmouths website and after placing an inquiry received a call back within 15 minutes from Ian. Within a couple hours we made it to the dealership and he already had the car processing for us. From the moment I walked in to buy a truck the customer service was awful, like completely rude and hostile. And this was confirmed when I booked my first of three free oil changes. I booked the oil change in advance by two weeks and dropped off my truck at 10 am to be picked up at 4 pm. They held the vehicle overnight at my expense (work vehicle).
Came here with my girlfriend and feel they gave her a great deal. They did not try to take advantage of her and there was no pressure to make the sale. This was the 4th dealership we came to and we felt welcomed and supported right away. They did not swarm us like other dealerships did. Their communication was straight forward and theu have not gouged their prices like other dealers have. Thank you Toyota of Portsmouth.
My wife and I are from Maine, but we couldnt find the Toyota Tacoma we wanted in the state.So glad we decided to go to Toyota of Portsmouth to test drive a truck we saw online!Connor Henderson helped us out and he was superb from start to finish. He was very helpful and not pushy at all. He was more like a resource for us rather than salesperson.We committed to the new truck after the test drive but had to sell our old truck first. Connor worked with his supervisor to make the deal happen (they held the truck for us for a few days). Everything about the transaction was great, I honestly cannot think of anything negative about the whole experience.I highly recommend this dealership!

I rented a car in September after my car broke down unexpectedly. Casey was extremely helpful and responsive to work with. They were flexible as I needed to extend the rental several extra days after the contract expired . The car and service overall was excellent. I would highly recommend Toyota of Portsmouth and I will rent a car again next Summer if needed.

I’m not in the habit of leaving poor reviews because someone made a mistake, but I do hope this dealership can improve its customer support. I called today to discuss a RAV4 and I found the woman who I spoke with in Sales to be extremely brusk and standoffish. She seemed like asking any questions about a $40,000 vehicle was an inconvenience. She was snappy with all answers and very rude when I had a few questions about price and availability. I was ready to buy a car today but I will certainly be taking my business elsewhere.
Quoted my 4k over sticker on tundra trd pro. Have no interest in businesses that do this.

Service manager John Lightbown took 5 minutes just to find his mask when I asked to meet with him.If that is the manager, I would be even more concerned with the technicians.Stay safe and go to Meineke down the road and ask for Matt.
Very unprofessional stuff. Made a reservation to rent the car with them. Noone ever reached out to me and I wasnt able to talk to rental person because he was on the another call. Hire people who want to work.
Upon arriving I told them I was looking for a cheap car, being that my credit was not good. They said they would work with me and run a soft credit check. THEY RAN MY CREDIT 11 TIMES!!! ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND MY HUSBANDS CREDIT REPORT!!! That is not a soft credit check. In the end they said they couldn’t help me unless I put more money down. I left with a bad taste in my mouth and no car. Thankfully I was able to get a better deal in CT with family.
Ive tried to buy a car here twice, and both times I was very unimpressed. Ten+ years ago they lied big time and tried to scam me out of a couple thousand dollars (After the fact fees that cropped up conveniently just before signing, luckily I backed out), but I figured I could give them another chance recently, and although they didnt try to scam me this time, my sales rep seemed extremely disinterested in selling me anything. Apart from not really knowing the cars, sounding bored talking to me, he also at one point just walked away and left me waiting for ~25mins. Ultimately decided not to buy anything here. Im sure other sales reps are better but I am basing my review on my experience(s).
After a frustrating experience at another Toyota dealership, Toyota of Portsmouth was a true breath of fresh air! They made the experience of purchasing a car easy and enjoyable. From Michelle who facilitated the sale, Matt who helped with financing and Brad who patiently explained the features of my new Hybrid RAV4 XLE premium - everyone was amazing. I would definitely recommend anyone in New England coming here to purchase a car.

Pleasant people in service but shoddy work and hidden up-charges for most everything. Typical “used car salesman” attitudes from many in the sales dept. - I ended up buying elsewhere due to poor service. Owner also brazenly supports bigotry.
I purchased a used car from them in March, I started having mechanical problems right off the bat (within the 30 day extended warranty) and I brought it into their service center to get it fixed and they told me they couldn’t do anything about it because they don’t service the car brand that they sold me. Fast forward a few months later I went in there to get an oil change and a tuneup, when they change the oil they miss placed the seal on the oil tank and it proceeded to flood my alternator with oil and cause my car to completely die. I’ve had to shovel over $5000 into this car that I bought in March. My husband is a disabled veteran and we don’t have a lot of money to spare. We are now unable to use the car, and also unable to fix the car because if financial difficulties. The service manager and whomever else at Toyota of Portsmouth has refused to take actions for flooding the alternator and refuses to return our phone calls. We have called to try to sort this matter out three different times, all three times we were sent to a voicemail and told we would be contacted. I am extremely disappointed at how immature their staff and management have handled the situation by just completely ignoring us.
Wouldn’t see anyone else but Jimmy at Toyota in Portsmouth. Easy process highly recommend and I will be back.
I had an appointment to test drive a vehicle; showed up to learn the car had been taken home for the weekend by a salesman (I had made the appointment the previous afternoon). I test drove another car, was unimpressed with the salesperson who basically argued with me about my preferences, as if he could badger me out of them. Made an appointment for the following week to drive the car I had come to see. Showed up and it had been sold. I didnt like the way the people were interacting with each other while I was there so its probably just as well.
Recently had a fantastic experience at this dealership. Specifically with Correy. I had a particularly tricky situation with a trade in which left me in a tight spot. Correy went way out of his way to find me the best option for what I was looking for and walked me through the process expertly. I definitely will be back for all my service and needs in the future.
I just had the best salesman in a long time! Correy helped me navigate into a new 2019 Tacoma. He asked some good questions to set me in the right direction on which model and year best suited me. He helped me make a well informed choice. He walked me through the process and answered every question I had. Showed me things that would make the truck last better and worked with me to get me into my choice. I cannot say enough great things about Toyota of Portsmouth. I saw a used Tundra online, called up the store and was handed to Connor, who is a first class professional salesman. He answered all my questions, and if he didn’t know the exact answer, he found someone who did. His honesty was really appreciated. After deciding I wanted the truck, I met with Mark to handle the paperwork and the financing. He, too was a great help. I felt no pressure while dealing with the financial side of the deal. Both Mark and Connor made me feel very welcome and comfortable with a big decision like this! After I bought the truck, the tire pressure light wouldn’t shut off, so I brought it back and they put in 4 new sensors, totally free of charge. When I left the dealership that time, the truck shook on the highway, so I brought it back and they balanced and rotated the tires, again, free of charge. The service team was very understanding of the issues I was having and exceed my highest expectations. Without a doubt, I will return to Toyota of Portsmouth to purchase all of my cars in the future. Here I am, a Ford owner turned Toyota, and I couldn’t be happier with my new vehicle and the experience I had! If you are looking for a new or used vehicle, go see these folks. They are amazing. The service has been inconsistent at best. Sales pulled all of the tired, pushy used car jargon with little impact beyond alienating us away from buying at all. The fact that the owner is using the business to host a permit-dodging parade of bigotry in the middle of a pandemic is inexcusable. Well never be back and will advise all we know against this Toyota location.
Absolutely the worst test drive & dealer experience Ive ever had. Went in with a woman friend and was dumbfounded by how rude & condescending everyone was. Ended up going to Dover instead. I had an awful experience there on a test drive in 2008 but figured things must have changed-- nope, must be baked into the culture there.
Brought in my 2017 Camry for an oil change on Saturday, walked into the showroom and fell in love with the 2019 Camry’s and went home with a new car instead of just an oil change! Isaac in 2016, and Cody on Saturday were the most pleasant sales people I have met in a long time. We originally went to the Rochester Toyota in 2016, but after their horrible customer service we went to Portsmouth and I amSo glad we did! You guys are the best!!
I recently had a bad experience where I just purchased a used car from a private party and brought it to Toyota of Portsmouth for a full inspection. I wanted to know what I needed to address from a maintenance perspective in the new to me but used car. I got a call from the Service person that everything looked good only a couple of minor issues and we settled up for around $250.00 dollars. I drive off the dealership and the check engine light comes on and its Friday late so I have to wait until the next Monday. I go back in and l tell the service folks what happened. Obviously I had just been there....they take the car in again and call me in an hour to tell me, it needs a new Evap system and that will cost $1500.00. Now Im not upset about the Evap system persay but I am upset that they gave me back the car telling me everything was ok and then less than a few hours later it needs a huge repair. I expressed my lack of confidence in the repair team and the service guy said, let me talk to my Manager and the repair guy. He calls me back and says, that they can take $100.00 off the bill. I think they missed the point I was trying to make. How was this missed? I never got a call from the Service Manager. Very disappointing. Our past history with this dealership is that we took our other Toyota there for years...no customer loyalty.
One of my favorite dealerships in new England to visit and shop for vehicles. Honestly Ive been to many dealerships in New England because of the type of work Im in. I love going to all the Toyota dealerships especially. They have the absolute best professional people in the car industries. You feel welcomed and like someone special at all the Toyota dealerships. Especially this dealership. Definitely one of my favorites. Dont take my word for it,. Walk in to any dealer of any major make and see for yourself why I feel so strongly about this company.

I have been looking for a used pickup for 2+ months. I travel throughout New England for work so I have been to many lots. What I found was a long line of trucks in very degraded condition, high mileage, and pricing that was way outside of competitive.Stopped by Toyota of Portsmouth, found a truck quickly, had paperwork done, and was out the door with a smile. Found the exact truck I was looking for, staff was very friendly, and communication before/after the sale was spot on.Thanks guys! Ive been servicing with this dealership for years. Each service member is kind and welcoming. They conveniently can bring me to my local place of work and pick me up when my vehicle is done. The drivers are always polite. Ive also waited before and the facilities are accommodating.

The negation and final agreement process was as expected which we prefer. Jim was very knowledgeable during the decision process and at the time of delivery explaining all the options and setting up the options and features for us. Everyone we met was friendly and made you feel relaxed. Jim also followed up with post sales phone calls and emails to make sure we we satisfied and happy with our purchase. Not often you get lied to repeatedly and you have to call back for status updates on being fed more BS. I literally lost 3 days of my time because of this place and I asked up front for them to tell me if they wouldnt get my car done so I could make other arrangements.
Super friendly staff who went above and beyond to get the vehicle I wanted. Did not have in stock the color or options of vehicle I wanted, but within two days they found one and had it ready at the dealership. Frank and Dan were great to deal with. Go see them if your buying a new or used Toyota.
The sales people were upfront and honest when it came to pricing there was no pressure. And they were very down-to-earth it was a really good experience. They even worked late to finish the sale so I could drive the vehicle home that day

My car broke down in Maine very close to Toyota of Portsmouth. They charged me close to 500 to do diagnostics and than 1500 to finally fix my car. Instead of removing the diagnostic charge after they fixed the car they charged me 2000. Ok fine I guess they knew I was basically held “ hostage” because I wasn’t from around there ... BUT when I went to use the seatbelts in the backseat they didn’t even replace the rear seat so the seat belt could be used easy . That’s when I was happy that I would never need to return to Toyota of Portsmouth.
I finalized my first lease (and trade in) with Toyota of Portsmouth this morning and cannot get over how easy they made this process! As we probably can all agree, going to a dealership isnt typically #1 on my list of favorite things to do. My salesperson was Cody, and he was absolutely fantastic. When I initially came in to test drive a few days ago, they only had a few RAV4s left on their lot. The one I wanted, unfortunately was not there. Before I even mentioned it, Cody finished my thought process by telling me he could get me whatever color/trim/options I wanted from elsewhere, and he did just that. I finished closing with sales manager Todd, and he was so informative about the whole leasing process. They made it clear to me that if I had any future questions or concerns that I could contact them anytime, they truly meant it to. I am so please with the service I got at Toyota of Portsmouth and look forward to letting them take care of my needs in the future.
Great friendly people. Lloyd is fantastic as a salesman and a great person to speak with. That being said, considering service times take 3X as long as a jiffy lube or Firestone for just an oil change....youd think Toyota or whomever owns this dealership could splurge for some magazine subscriptions....currently looking at a motor trend from December 2012....just saying, its $15 per year. Good thing I brought my own magazines...(learned the last time)

Beware! When the service desk says that it will take 1 hour to address the recall for the air-bag injector, you might want to add two and 1/2 hours to that. That was my experience. I will definitely continue to see my local independent mechanic, because he stands by his word and delivers on time. I was told they were short-staffed. Perhaps a call ahead of time might have been the friendly and personalized thing to do. Just a suggestion. I still like my Toyota, but not the dealership.
Got to this Toyota dealership at 11:02, walked outside for a bit to look at used Tacoma or 4runner, walked inside to look around for the showroom models. Then, proceeded outside to look at the new Tacomas and 4runners. I did this for 30 minutes without so much of a whiff of a sales rep approaching me. There was more than enough people who saw me there. Maybe I didnt stand out enough?
I recently leased a car for the second time, and my total overall experience was exceptional. My salesman was very encouraging, showed me all of my options, and more importantly, never pressured me to purchase something that I was not completely on board with. I love my new Rav 4, but I am even more pleased with the excellent care I received from the time I entered the door, until the time I left the parking lot with my new car. I was showed extensively of all the features the car had to offer, and my salesman made sure that when I left I was completely comfortable in how to properly use everything the car had to offer.I would Highly recommend to anyone to go in and see for yourself...definitely a 5 star rating!!!!

Toyota of Portsmouth was my first stop in car shopping. I tested a 2014 Corolla and loved it, including the color. Frank Acceta was friendly and helpful, without being (too) pushy. After testing out 3 other cars the same day, I emailed Frank and the dealer to see if they could reduce the price to compete with another offer at a different dealership. Not only did no one respond to my email, but when I used the chat feature on the website, the chat agent quoted me a price $1,000 higher than Franks special price. I explained Id been offered a lower price and then she said oh yes, I see that. Well, we cant match IRA Manchesters price. I said okay, Ill be taking my business there. If anything changes let me know. The agent said Sorry about that. Thanks for the opportunity. I never heard back from Frank or anyone there, which I found vexing and strange considering (I thought) dealers are competitive and want to...sell cars? I was ready to purchase, and lo and behold, found the same vehicle with only 2,000 more miles at Ira Manchester and drove away with it the very next day after I visited Toyota of Portsmouth. Their unwillingness to budge on price lost them a customer--oh well! (By the way, I gave Ira Toyota of Manchester a 5-star rating--go there instead, even if you live on the Seacoast. You cant beat their prices and transparency.)
I wanted a particular color and model of Highlander which had become very rare to find.The folks at Toyota of Portsmouth searched high and low, found one and brought it to Portsmouth for me. I love this new car!! This is the second vehicle we have bought there and have been very happy with sales, finance and service.
Best car buying experience Ive ever had. Go see Isaac or John theyre fsntastic, patient and really listen and care. The finance guy who tries to sell more stuff was even awesome, very low pressure and kind. Buy from Toyota of Portsmouth, you wont regret it!

2015: turned away by salesman, told to come back when we were ready to buy. We bought a 2015 Rav from Ira.8/23/2019: since they are close by and we are ready to buy we spent 20 mins. in showroom looking at cars. One salesman was busy, the other one stood with someone having a personal conversation the entire time. He watched us, didnt ask if we wanted help. We left...once again. Lesson learned.
Update: I have no idea whom youre referring to regarding the midwest. I live 7 miles away. Copy and paste replies show lack of customer focus.I called this morning to see about scheduling an oil and filter change for my Lexus LS 460. I dialed the service number only to get a secretary. I asked for service. She asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment. I said I wanted to see if there was availability today for an oil and filter change.She transfers the call and I get put on hold. I then hear someone pick up but immediately put back on hold. There was no cordial hi there, may I please place you back on hold for 30 more seconds or some such.I surmised that this place doesnt want my business. Ive been reading comments from Mark W. that there is new management over the past 8 or so months. Well, the service department cant even pick up the phone so Ill just go elsewhere.Sorry guys - good luck.
My wife and a family friend went to check-out minivans last week as we are upgrading from our Highlander to a minivan. Weve recently relocated to the area and know that there are many car-buying options. My wife went to check-out Toyota of Portsmouth out of convenience of location to our new home and employer. At their visit, they were greeted by Frank, who was extremely unprofessional and condescending.My wife said she was interested in seeing a minivan. They walked all the way out to the parking lot and he told her that she could just look at the mini-vans from the outside, as he didnt have any of the keys to the cars. As he probed and asked my wife questions he proceeded to steer my wife to cheaper vehicles, assuming we couldnt afford the cars, reminding her multiple times that you know that these are 50k vehicles.Do you even have a job, was another utterance out of this salesperson.We laugh about the experience now as we have steered our sights to another local Toyota dealership.I am shocked that in 2017, gender issues can still be this pervasive at this dealership.Your inadequacy, prejudice and unprofessionalism is your loss and our gain.
Great customer relations. I ended up buying from someone else, but this dealer was the most helpful of all the ones I had been to.
From the salesmen to management Toyota of Portsmouth crushed my expectations. I went through four dealerships before eventually driving from RI to deal with the experts at this dealership. They play no games, and are sincere as they come. Dave and Blake are some of the most knowledgeable sales guys I have ever dealt with. Adam the General Manager was right there monitoring things along the way, and Mark handled all of the paperwork seamlessly, and answered all of our questions. Hands down the best place to buy a car. Very comfortable, and helpful from beginning to end.

Wasnt horribly impressed with their selection, and the prices seemed rather high for their used, certified, cars and trucks. I get that they need to make money, but a used truck for 27,000 is way too steep.
