The employees were very friendly and helpful. I was referred to by name, in a non pretentious way, my problem was addressed quickly and professionally. There was absolutely no pressure into buying a newer phone or any BS about how it’s impossible to get parts for it. I am so impressed with MacEdge. I brought my iPad in because it would not boot up, and thought that it was a goner. Matt, Joel and Brett did not give up on it and the final thing that Joel tried, got it working. I was figuring I was going to be buying a new one, but they got this one going. I HIGHLY recommend MacEdge. Also since I was there for about an hour, I watched their interactions with all the customers. No question, or problem was too big or too small. Firstly, they successfully fixed my machine in a reasonable amount of time. They did, however, crack my screen in the process. They also have a strange aversion to the phone. I.E. they dont pick up if you call and they dont call to notify you when works is complete. Easy to locate and plenty of parking, which is nice.
The gentleman who helped me was amazing. This was high end service with extraordinary patience and so much kindness. This is now my computer store! I am a customer for life after that rock star service. I highly recommend MacEdge!
Great group of guys who all put full effort into dealing with my very annoying tech problem. When they could have easily given up they kept trying many different approchaes and figured it out!! Come see these guys if you drop your phone in toilet or for any tech reason :)
When my iMac suddenly refused to boot up after installing a security update, Apple US Support gave me the option of getting it serviced at an Apple Store, or at a locally run Apple Premiere Partner in Portsmouth NH. Figured I’d skip the zoo at the Apple Store and try MacEdge instead. Great Call! It was immediately evident it’s a place where you’re a Name and not a Number. Not only did Matt and Joel clearly know their stuff but the shop is well-organized and a pleasure to be in. They were able to diagnose and resolve the issue on the spot (Eureka!), and then went above and beyond to assess not just what occurred but what likely caused it. You can tell in an instant when people take pride in their work, and these guys go the extra mile to ensure that they resolve things to one’s satisfaction. Now that I know about MacEdge, I won’t hesitate to stop back for gear or servicing. Top notch in every respect, and highly recommended.
Had a great experience with a repair on my MBP. The had an appointment available right away, great communication, parts were ordered quickly, the repair was done perfectly, and I had my laptop back in just over 24 hours. Had a really complicated issue, went into the shop to buy a new laptop but they figured out a way to fix mine instead of making me pay for a new one. Did everything they could to restore the data on my laptop! Such kind people and they really care for their customers!! This place is phenomenal. I met with Joel and Brett this morning after waking up to see my mac had a s/w problem that would potentially keep me from meeting an urgent client deadline. These guys are great! After a bad experience at an Apple store, I started going to MacEdge. Since then, theyre the only store and people I trust to help me with my Apple products. Got connected to MacEdge through Apple Service. Set up a phone repair appointment through Apple. Totally seamless.Decided I’d call in advance to make sure I had everything I needed for my appointment. The person I spoke with had answers to every question and gave me all the information I needed to ensure a successful repair. He even checked to make sure they had the exact right parts in stock.When I went in for my appointment, it was very smooth. After exploring several other options, we finally selected MacEdge in Portsmouth to repair the water damage to my sons one month old MacBook Pro. You will not find a more knowledgeable and friendly team anywhere. They take their Covid-19 protocols seriously, which is comforting. And did I mention they saved me a ton of $$$ ? Once you try MacEdge, you will never go anywhere else for your Apple needs.
Unfortunately there was a miscommunication regarding the price of a laptop screen repair these guys did for me—just one of those ill-fated best-intentioned conversations where I thought A was said & the salesperson thought B was said. After I got the bill & expressed surprise & confusion, the sales staff quickly connected me with a manager & he refunded me the difference in good faith. The repair itself was super quick & my new laptop screen is working perfectly so far (knock on wood). My only advice is to take extra care to understand how the standard service fee contributes to (or doesnt contribute to) the overall cost of a repair; the pricing is a bit different than an Apple store—even though genius bar appointments are booked at this location via the Apple website.

I had a Great experience during their first week of sales by appointment after the lockdown. They welcomed me in right on time, knew exactly what I was there for from my online appointment sign up, and they had exactly what I needed for my two kids. They were very knowledgeable about the products I was buying and gave me some excellent advice for using art programs we planned to buy. They wore masks and practiced social distancing. Very professional! I will use them again!
Joel did a fabulous job explaining what was happening with our Macs and how to resolve the issue. He also saved us a boatload of money by not selling a service we didn’t need and could do ourselves. As a certified Mac Service and sales provider they had more knowledge than Best Buy and comparable knowledge to the Apple Store but right here in Portsmouth! They also have the best customer service in town and appear to really enjoy their jobs. Joel and Jason are super nice humans who are interested in helping other humans be fully functioning in computer literacy. Nice way to support a local business while getting great service!

My 5 year old MacBook Pro started having major issues basically rendering it unusable. After opening the 3rd or 4th Safari tab it would hang requiring a reboot and at times a Force Quit. I’ve been in software for 24 years and feel I’m qualified to express an opinion for technical support.At first, I thought it was my WiFi internet speed. I upgraded to Xfinity X1 Triple Play. After the upgrade, I constantly get 600 to 700 Mbps download. Yet, the MacBook still hung. Off to MacEdge in Portsmouth I went where I had the good fortune to meet Joel!I described the symptoms and he was able in short order to replicate the problem. We both agreed it was either hardware or software. On the spot, I purchased a new 15” MacBook 2.3 GHz Intel Core i9 the fastest he had. I left it overnight for Joel to port the settings and data. The next day I brought it home and much to my dismay, it did the same thing.I brought it back to Joel. We agreed the issue was software or a configuration setting. He informed me Mac’s create two separate pools for configurations. One for documents and one for OS/User settings. He backed up the new MacBook, wiped it clean and the reinstalled Mojave. Then he created a test running streaming media from 7 Safari tabs that never blinked for hours. He then copied back down my documents and ran the test again which was successful. That told him there was a bad user setting. Therefore, he manually configured the basic user settings I needed by hand. Again, the streaming test was a success.I couldn’t be happier with Joel’s troubleshooting skills and persistence to get to the root cause of the problem. I absolutely love my new MacBook Pro. The Retina display is stunning and the device screams performance wise. If you have a Mac problem, you’d be a fool to take it anywhere else other than MacEdge in Portsmouth.Thanks Joel, ~ Matthew Teborek

4/15/20 update: Apple fixed the computer at no charge. The turnaround time, from me receiving the box to Apple shipping the repaired computer, is within 24 hours; exhibit A of exemplary effort and customer service. Don’t bother with MacEdge.I was referred by Apple to have my display issue analyzed. I came in 4/13/2020 at 11:10am after setting up an appointment. The employee asked if the computer was covered under Apple Care and I said no as I was not aware until after the visit that it, indeed, was. He inspected the nick at the corner of the laptop and went to the back room -- came out approximately 5 minutes later to inform me that my coverage is nullified due to the external damage even though the issue appears to be an Apple manufacturer issue, and that the repair would cost me $600. I Visited Experimax, where I purchased the laptop originally, and the employee there informed me of my Apple Care coverage and instructed to directly contact Apple regarding the issue as the display is a wiring (manufacturer) issue, as exhibited by the intermittent appearance of horizontal lines. I called MacEdge to ask whether the computer can be fixed at no charge, as it is covered AND the matter regards a manufacturer issue, and they again dismissed the idea with the excuse of the external damage nullifying the warranty coverage. How do you know the issue is related to the external damage if you never inspected its internal system?I resorted to contacting Apple, and they happily opened a repair case and will be sending a box to ship my laptop in and have it analyzed. They informed me of the possible financial implications in the case that the damage is due to an accident, and that it would be free of charge if they find that it is a manufacturer issue. All done within 5 minutes. I dont understand why MacEdge, an authorized Apple service provider, couldnt take maybe 30 minutes out of their day to disassemble the laptop to analyze it properly. A disgrace. Apple should consider customer service training for these employees as well. I would recommend doing business directly with Apple.
Wonderful experience with Matt who not only fixed the Malware on my Mac but also explained what I was doing wrong not only with my Mac but my I Phone as well. Consequently because of his expertise, I will not have to invest in another I Phone & now have everything working together properly. Mac Edge has been fabulous for all of my needs and have always gone above and beyond. These guys are great & I highly recommend them for all your Mac needs.

Terrible experience my Wife Went there for a simple charge port replacement And they told her it needed a full diagnoses and was not charger port an was not worth Fixing would cost 200 + dollars after She drove there with are two twin Infants and three year old daughter an hour away we did not drop off to be fixed and I brought to a local store who fixed charge port for $45 and now the iPad works perfect been trying to get a hold of someone so they would explain why they told my wife that left several messages and still haven’t heard from themDon’t go there terrible scam artist
Wonderful team. I had no idea they function as an Apple store right here in Portsmouth. Within 10 minutes fixed my computer. And I had brought it somewhere else the day before. They could not fix it and charged $75. Excellent service by these guys. Will be back to buy all our Apple products in the future and bring all back for services. Highly recommend!

The MacEdge crew did a fantastic job repairing my MacMini. Despite an influx of business from Apple stores being closed during quarantine, I got very fast service in both the diagnostic side and actual repair side of things. Now Ive got a screamingly healthy MacMini thats ready for many more years of service.Id also like to give them credit for having excellent COVID precautions- requiring an appointment for anything other than a repair pick-up, clearly marked six foot spacing and clear lines for everything. The staff are clearly doing a killer job despite extra stress and hassle from all these changes. NICE JOB, FOLKS!
My Dad has two i pads that he locks up all the time (he is 88 so he get a pass). I took them down to MacEdge and the guys were very help full and unlocked both tablets and remove the opening security (we dont need it) to make it easier for Dad to operate. While I was there they helped me with some questions regarding the tablets and turned me on to some great information about apple products that I didnt know. My dad and I were so impressed we purchased a laptop to go with the tablets. Great place, awesome service, would not hesitate to go back, truly 5 star service.
Highly recommend MacEdge! Couldn’t ask for better service than MacEdge provides. They are consistently professional, courteous, and positive about resolving issues that I have had with my laptop. They saved my laptop from some malware that I was unaware of too. Bottom line, they want customers to leave happy, and I was that happy customer again today!
Outside of an Apple store (which is an hour away from me), Mac Edge is the ONLY place that I trust to do work on my Macbooks & other Apple stuff. This team knows more on a technical level, as well as Apple hard/software tribal knowledge than anyone else that Ive worked with. Even given the COVID situation, they were able to multitask with me on short notice, while taking care of some other customers in order to help get my Macbook working properly. Matt, Joel, and the rest of the team are simply the best around in their line of work.
After an unresolved issue with my MacBook memory and calls with Apple and Geek squad at Best Buy, Macedge tech Jason was able to resolve the problem in just a few minutes. I was shocked to find out that after months of all of the Apple stores being closed during Covid, but Macedge was open for months taking all of the necessary precautions of an essential business and helping nearly 40 people a day resolve their computer and technical issues so that we can all work from home. Everyone at the desk at Macedge was curtious, insightful and safe. I can’t begin to imagine all the work they have done over the last four months. Thank you!
My iPhone 7 was acting strange, not only did MacEdge perform the diagnostics for free but they were accommodating, helpful and kind. They understood that i am not a tech savvy person and i felt supported in the process. They explained things to me in clear language but also with humor. Not only was my repair done in a timely fashion (1 week earlier than expected) they also had available a loner phone for me to use so that my life was of minimal disruption. Thank you MacEdge. I went in with a dead phone, mostly concerned about if all my photos were lost. The guy there told me there was no way of knowing and I had to go the apple store an hour away. I asked for an address to be written down (since I have a broken iPhone) and he was very bothered by the request. Later I tried calling my regular store in MA- they told me exactly how to see if my info was baked up. It took 2 seconds and could have saved me hours of driving and stress

These days, heroes come in all kinds of unexpected forms. When my 2019 MacBook stopped working mid-pandemic, AppleCare sucked me into a 2-week vortex of chasing down a shipping box that would never arrive. Enter MacEdge. Not only did they accept my computer for repair almost immediately, their caring team made special arrangements to accept it due to someone in my bubble being high-risk. This is not the first time MacEdge has come to my rescue. Over the years, they addressed and improved my 2008 MacBook multiple times. A year ago, I took them up on their suggestion to upgrade my 2008 MacBook to a solid state drive--a move which improved its speed and functionality so much, it supercedes the abilities of a friends 2011 borrowed MacBook. I had intended to use the borrowed 2011 while I waited out the repair of my 2019 Mac--but their improvements to my 2008 made that machine the hands-down winner, allowing me to continue working...and write this long-overdue review. Jason, Joel and the whole MacEdge crew are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, helpful, and have never let me down. Im so grateful to them for all they have done, and are doing--especially during the wildness of the pandemic--to keep us all digitally connected. They are my first choice over any Apple store any day. I cant recommend MacEdge highly enough.

I went in because the refurbished Mac Probook I’d purchased from a competitors store never worked properly. They diagnosed the issue, gave me really good advice and offered alternative solutions. Yo be honest, I was in the store for about 20 minutes and they were slammed, they helped everyone quickly and courteously!!!! Big win, go no place else for your MAC needs!
Great service. They really make sure that you get what you need. Went in there to help my boyfriends father get an iPhone. Left with the right iPhone for him. He didn’t need anything powerful just something he could see and basic enough for him to use. They helped guide us through the process. This was the most comfortable iPhone sales process I have been through.
My experience with MacEdge was awful! I had set up an appointment to get my phone screen replaced. The website showed me an estimated time of 15 mins for the service. I planned my whole day at work based on this. But when I got there, the service guy told me that it was just the check-in time. And told me it would take another 2 hours to fix the issue. So here’s an advice, fix your website so that the customers are aware of what they’re in for. Second, the check in time was more like 40 mins and not 15. You guys need to have a dedicated person at the phone. I probably had to wait thru 5-6 phone calls during my check-in time!

They have a 10 minuet no charge policy for walk in help and even though my issue went a little over the timeline Mark shook my hand and asked for future business if I was so inclined. Whenever I have a problem, I go to MacEdge. Ive been 3 times and everytime they helped solve a problem which was complex to me but simple for them. Most things I had tried for at least a few days to look on youtube or google for solutions, and they literally took 15 minutes or less... I would have gladly paid for their work, however they did not charge me for any of the visits. I didnt have to schedule an appt, and the wait was minimal and my problem solved... please go spend some money with them so they can continue to offer their brains when needed... I know I will always look to buy there before looking at other options...
I used to think this store had a lot to offer, and while they may have a menu of capabilities for Mac owners, they have a serious frontline issue. My wife and I went in today for some work on her MacBook Pro, which is an important element of her privately owned company. Fortunately, the smart quiet guy was working out back and was able to offer help without an attitude. Unfortunatley, they had the worst front counter help sitting on the left(5/11/20 for reference). His demeanor with customers parallels a root canal, clearly not happy working in his role. He didn’t display enough knowledge to warrant this and shouldn’t be the first face of MacEdge when you walk in, COVID or not. In fact, this isn’t the first level of distaste left from a visit here, after his condescending attitude provided to my daughter and mother-in-law back in December. This visit was enough to make me sort out other avenues for Apple help moving forward. Maybe hire some Apple store employees with better customer service training.
Joel solved my problem immediately! Everyone was friendly and they got me in and out quickly and with good cheer. They were playing awesome music, too, which was a bonus. MacEdge rocks.
MacEdge has kept my Mac running great well beyond its shelf life. Staff is knowledgable, friendly, and generous. Give em some love.
I had a MacBook Air that was damaged. The employee was up front and told me the cost to repair would be around the same as a new lap top. Was able to walk away with a new one. Thank you!

I had a spinning wheel of death issue on my MAC and Jason Landry was there to greet me. He find that I had clutter on my MacBook Pro that was slowing things down. He spent a good deal of time with me and took care of the problem for me. He was courteous, and displayed professional service all the time I was there. He did this and when I asked how much I owed him, he said youre all set.. no charge. I will forever be a customer. Thanks Jason!
My MacBook had a virus (or two) and I needed it fixed quickly for work. I brought it in and within 10 minutes Joel had all the viruses cleared out and my settings back to normal. Not only was the service fast and friendly, but my MacBook is working perfectly now! Thanks MacEdge!

Employees were knowledgeable about my Iphone 7 Issue. Unfortunately, my Iphone had to be sent back to Apple which was a downer, but they had an Iphone 7 loaner phone which the Apple Store nor Best buy can offer. This is/was obviously a Huge plus. As long as my phone was in for repair I was able to use the loaner for free. Another huge plus was that I didnt have to schedule a genius bar appointment just to find out what was wrong then only to be told they couldnt fix it. Mac edge had walk in service solution plus same day appointments for more complex issues. Will definitely be using them in the future not only for Phone fixes but Phone, watch, laptop, etc, Merchandise.
