Nice grocery store stocked with everything you might possibly need. Always extra clean with a friendly helpful staff. This is my favorite grocery store. You have to show a military ID card upon entering this store. Its for active duty or veterans like myself that have a VA card. The prices in this store are probably across the board 10% cheaper than most grocery stores. Not all that much. They have a great meat dept. Meat prices... especially pork and chicken, are considerably less than say Safeway or Luckys. Shopping here has always been a good experience. Dont forget the people that bag your groceries and bring them to your car work for tips only!
As a service connected veteran I am able to use to shop the commissary. The store is well laid out, the shelves are stocked, the fruit is nice. The only complaint I’m the fruit and veggie section is not many fresh herbs.I love that the aisles are nice and wide. One day I lost my prescription Ray-Ban sunglasses while shopping; I didn’t realize it until I got in my car after an hour and a half shopping. I ended up retracing my steps and to my surprise and delight…there they were on the table where I stopped to get some coupons.99.9% of clerks are kind and helpful, I like that young kids handle the bagging and taking out groceries on Sundays; it’s a good lesson in responsibility.
Love shopping getting everything I need
A fine shopping experiences with some incredible prices if you know where to look.
Theres a girl here with really long braids that acts like shes made it her mission in life to see how long she can go in a day without having to check someone out at the cash register. Her job avoidance is so frequent and predictable that we make a game of it every time we visit
Large store, lots of options and big isles. Great if you have kids. Not very busy.
Staff is great and friendly. Meat and vegetables are fresh. Great variety of selection and cant beat the prices of outside. Even with the pandemic, love the fact that military families dont hoard and plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies. Everyone wears masks and dont complain about it.
It’s ok. I shop there for a few little items. I usually shop at Costco for my bulky needs and for produce at the weekly group Produce Sales. Get better price there.
Always great prices and friendly cashiers
So easy to shop here. The layout makes sense and there is always good produce and deals on meats. Bonus....bags are included unlike other local grocery stores.
Good place for groceries. Decent selection of produce and fresh meat if you dont go during payday weekends. Not a lot of registers open but I dont usually see much wait time at the cashier line or self-checkout during the earlier part of a weekday.
Great prices and friendly staff
Well organized and prices that cannot be beat on most products within a 30 sq mi radius.
Good prices and good customer service.
Very clean and well organized.
Excellent Products, Service!
Im so thankful for our Ft. Ord commissary during this pandemic! Being a military facility, its much easier for the employees to enforce the mask mandate than it is for employees of civilian grocery stores.Im in several groups that are highly vulnerable to the virus. The commissary is one of the few places in which I feel safe to do my grocery shopping.Ive shopped in commissaries since 1982. They have always been life-saving for me, since I fed five children for many years. Thanks to this benefit of my husbands military career, Ive fed our family name-brand foods for store-brand prices. We just returned home after doing a major stock-up at the Ft.Ord commissary. Our cats, my husband and I will eat well throughout the holidays, no matter what happens in the next few weeks.
Theyve fixed the self checkout to scan ID cards ! No more waiting for staffs help to scan your ID
*Military Only* just so you know. One of the best commissaries Ive been to. Always stocked when I shop on Fridays. Employees are all polite and helpful. Prices are best, in my opinion, for the region. (Not to mention, no tax as well)Definitely recommend!
Great prices for some pretty ok quality food. The workers can be a little rude sometimes but Im sure its just an off day for them.
Great prices and selection overall. Could use a little more variety in produce.
The fruit and veggie section is not great. Often the stuff does not look or feel very fresh. They have a good selection of special items that are hard to find in other stores. Great meat department. I buy most of my meat for my dogs here since they have a small selection of organ meats as well and the prices are hard to beat. Lots of name brands but also lots of unhealthy items.
We, the community of the people who have the privilege to shop at the OCC, are very blessed to have the people who serve us there with what they have. Our Commissary has adapted marmevlously to the trying times and they are doing the best that they can. As a long time costumer, Id like to say that God bless you. It is still a joy to shop at our Ord Community Commissary.
Great. Bought myself a birthday steak.
Good place 😊
Great prices but vegetables and fruit are hit or miss
Good fresh produce
We always loved going there as kids, a long long time ago. As an adult, I would go as a guest. Before the current situation, I would take Moms elderly friends that needed assistance and a ride. Now I cant because of the no guest policy. I would need a health care worker letter, which I am not. I recently tested negative ( I know I could catch it any minute despite my herculean efforts to stay safe) and really would like to take some of the ladies again. Had the Commissary been flooded with guests in the past? Couldnt the person in charge of this decision reevaluate and begin allowing guests in that tested negative with proof. Hey, Hawaii is allowing negative-test people in w/o quarantine, maybe the Commisary can move forward too.
Has just the right amount of stuff for a Commissary. Still has the classic deli and even a sushi place on the side.
This a very nice, clean and well stocked store. People are friendly and the deli is great.
The layout is very functional. You have a single entrance which leads directly to the area for produce and other canned and jar goods. The perimeter walls are fridge items and is well organized. The staff are friendly
My husband is a Veteran and with the new regulations, we were able to access for the first time. Its just like any other grocery store, some of the prices are lower than other grocery stores. There is also a Deli and we got Sandwiches for lunch, we got a lot of sandwich for the price we paid.We found some items that we had not been able to find at our regular grocery store, we were very happy.I think we found our new grocery store : > )
Best prices on the Monterey area for retired military and active duty personnel.
Veterans with a service connected disability are now allowed to shop at all Military Commissarys as of January 1st. This place is awesome. The prices are so much lower then any other place Ive ever been to you cant even compare them. This is one of the best benefits they have given us.
I like the store the employee are very nice plenty of selecting store is clean and Im in and out quickly.
Great prices
Commissary is always clean, well stocked. Staff are always friendly.
For Veterans and active duty only. Always stocked and stockers on the floor to help. Most courtiest
I really enjoy shopping here. We save at least $20-$30/week going here rather than other places in town. They have a great selection, their produce has been very good, and the employees are very nice. We live in PG and find its worth the trip.
Military store. Must be US military to enter. Wide aisles, nicely lite, clean. Good stock of items on sale, deli, bakery. Prices are competitive. Went on a non-payday Tuesday morn and it seemed empty.
If youre a veteran you can now use your veterans health ID card to shop here. The best thing about this place is the fact it isnt crowded and the isles are wide. The thing to know is the baggers not only bag your groceries, but they will also take them to your vehicle, however they are not paid by the commissary, they work for tips so be considerate to them.
This commissary has decent variety and great prices. The produce and meat are always fresh and low-priced. Theres a little sushi bar that my kid likes. Try the fresh-baked muffins!! They are seriously amazing! My favorite are the pistachio almond, but they are all awesome!
Good deli.
Meats and produce are always the lowest quality compared to other local grocers. Prices on other products are good. Very rude ID checker, but was apologized to by the assistant manager
Good as usual.
Perfect sized and great selection. First time visiting had a good experience wish I lived closer to it!
Only if Veterans could use this store. It would be so helpful and attendance/profit would increase. Wed even pay for our own bags! 😀5 Stars-If Vets were allowed. 10 Stars =Disabled Vets with all percentages of disability would be really grateful.
I especially like the variety of products from Germany and Asia. Everything is fresh. The staff there are very helpful.
Good deals, its not very big, but big enough.
I love shopping at the Fort Order Commissary! The prices are significantly lower than local grocery stores, the shelves are well stocked, the employees are friendly and the lines are short, even on the weekend. Their produce is always top-notch in terms of selection and quality.
Prices were unbelievable... And theyre service is top notch
Stocked shelves with great products displayed logically.
Small and quiet grocery store. Everything you need!
Very clean, fantastic prices and helpful efficient staff. Checkout and bagging is quick. The selection of some products may not be as great as other stores, such as fish, but they offer great selection on other products, like fruits and veggies.
Like any normal commissary but never seems to get super busy.
If you are military or a dependent of one and you like to buy in bulk or you are looking for great deals, and you dont want to pay for a membership anywhere, not only is the Commissary perfect for you. You have a wonderful staff here to help you find what you are looking for. With free sample on popular items and a produce section so fresh that it looks home grown, you cant go wrong with this store. If you want to save money, come and enjoy a pleasant experience at the Commissary.
The Ord Community Commissary is convenient and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and I get a warm sense of community when I am shopping here. Their selection is good, with several Gluten Free and Vegan options.
Store seems clean, prices are about what I was used to seeing in MI, or better, which is really nice. The set up of the store is a little odd, but the selection is pretty good and the cashiers are friendly. Im very happy to have a commissary available here.
Went with my dad, found what we were looking for.
If you are eligible to use the store, you are lucky! It is a military shopping store with great prices and a big variety of goods. They pack and take your goods to your car, for a tip of course.
Never crowded and always well stocked
Glad my sister is military ... Best shopping experience
Always stocked, pleasny staff, and good prices make it worth 40 minute drive
Wonderful! I love the people that work there. They are so friendly and helpfull. Its a very clean and organized store. Thank you
A good supply of fresh produce, though lacking in certain ethnic varieties. The meat department is lacking compared to other commissaries. The workers are very friendly and helpful. Prices are the best around town. Bring closed on Mondays can be inconvenient.
The staff are very helpful and friendly!! The store had a great selection in which to choose. Thank you!!--Andrea
Outstanding, found everything we needed.
If youve got a military ID its worth your time
All ways a pleasure
Nice selection. Helpful employees. Paper & plastic bags available, as well as zippered insulated reusable bags for sale. Baggers assist to car for tips. Military ID or Guest of Military ID-holder (bring CA ID/license) only.
This commissary is smaller than some of the others I have been too. It also feels dark and cold when you enter. The prices are similar to other commissaries. Keep an eye on the prices, sometimes it is cheaper to get certain products, such as milk, at other stores. The best thing about this commissary is there is never a line for checkout, even in the self checkout line.
Best grocery store in the area. Wide aisles, well stocked shelves, wide variety, freshest produce, tender meats, well marked (electronic) prices, eco conscience green (enclosed cooler shelves), and quick check-out. If you have a military ID, you cant do better.
Great
I was never a fan of shopping at the commissary, but I find I prefer this grocery store over all the others in the area. I feel the prices are best here. It is nice how they have coupons scattered around the store and you can also use their digital coupon system. I still wish they would just pay the baggers so I dont have to make sure I have cash on me to tip them.
Found some items i love employees were helpful
Love the store
If you are able to shop at the Commissary, you will be surprised at the reasonable prices they offer. You will be able to buy all your staples here, as well as some more exotic foods, and ethnic foods. If you are looking for a large selection of organic food, however, this is not the place to do it. Shop here for lower prices on meats, dairy, breakfast foods, and other essentials.
I found out they collect up 2 day old bakery items and throw them away! Why not homeless shelters and food banks? Even some churches! To hear about the commisarys throwing food away just sickens me to no end. I dont know who makes this decision, but they need to have better leadership with a modern business model that is community centric, not creating waste for the landfills!
Good variety of products available. Good prices. Good customer service.
Always good low prices and great staff.
The lighting is grey and the store is kind of dingy seeming, just from age probably. The selection is pretty excellent and if you keep an eye out you can score some fantastic deals. The sushi counter is nice, if a little overpriced. Its crazy awkward to have the bagging ladies there who work for tips when I neither carry cash nor really need help with my bags; thats my least favorite part by far.
Great place for military personnel to shop. Good prices and selection.
Excellent place for the military community. The ORD community area includes a commissary PX and a 24-hour gas station where you can use your credit card to fill up
Its Costco. If you love it you love it. I just wish they carried some regional items like the holiday pepper jelly.
Great prices and no taxes if youre a veteran
Its a nice place to visit.
This commisary is generally well stocked and clean, just recommend getting meat and veggies elsewhere as they always seem to go bad way more quickly here. Cant beat the prices anywhere but COSTCO
Friendly employees and great customer service!
Best place for shopping. It used to be a military base when I was growing up, now its been deactivated and its just civilian housing. I DO miss Fort Ord... Fond memoirs of growing up and all we did....
Very good selection and worth the drive for military.
Excellent price on meats and produce. Staff is always awesome.
The best place to shop for quality food and excellent prices.
Excellent service.
Fort Ord commissary remains the best grocery store for military personnel and dependants.
Great selection and prices
A very nice place to shop for groceries. Nice people and well stocked shelves.
Convenient location to Ord community, the best prices in town, in general, and great selection of produce, meat, and general groceries. You must have military/dependent/retired ID to enter which is checked at entry, and it is closed on Mondays.
First of all, its for our military. Second of all, people carry your bags to your car and load it. Thirdly, The deals are unbeatable. If your in the military and newly came to Monterey or Marina this place got your back with affordable food.
