I have been purchasing from this location for 18 years. The service and staff are great. Also, important to note the stability in staffing. I know one employee who has been there the entire 18 years. Thats amazing in this day and time. That says another about the company and its culture.

We have used this store for over 20 years for framing our art and for buying art supplies. Recently, and completely unexpectedly, I got 3rd place in a Washington Post Style Invitational contest (week 1410: false facts about the Fall). A few weeks later I received in the mail a handwritten letter from the Empress of the Invitational, a Whole Fools shopping bag, and a 1st Stink for 1st Ink air freshener tree. I took all that and the original page from the Post to Plaza and they had it matted and framed expertly. Its one of my prize possessions!

The women who works here is so difficult. Had to return a frame (that was never opened) and all she could offer me was store credit.When I went to return the frame for credit, she refused because I didnt have the receipt. I knew the receipt number and paid with card, she still refused. The business wouldnt even have lost money because all I could get was store credit.I have worked retail and pulling up someones receipt isnt that hard, especially if they paid by card.I would have used the store credit to buy a bigger frame, and proper framing material, which would have garnered the business more money!?Guess Ill just go through Amazon instead. Cheaper and better return policy.

Ive been framing all kinds of stuff, over many years, at Plaza. I love getting input from Sharon---and her team of artists---on the perfect frame and matting for each piece. You can rely on this crew!

Fantastic selection and even better service. They were wonderful with my kid as well.

Artist shop targeting professionals, mostly paintings. You can also find here some craft supplies (like leatherworking) but its limited. The staff is friendly and ready to answer your questions. The place also has craft shows where you can get knowledge of painting techniques and they are free. The store just got renovated. Now technical details - the onstreet parking is nothing to exist. Your best bet is to park on Fenton street parking garage (close to Greyhound bus station). Now about prices - some can say they are steep, but you need to compare specific paints or tools rather just paint to paint. I would say that they are comparable with Amazon.The photo are from one of the craft shows at the store.

Great place to find artistic and craft stuff at good rate. Parking is very difficult since there are located on a min street; however it’s easy to find. Store is clean, and customers service helpful.

Excellent stock of supplies for graphic artists, including paints (acrylic, oil, watercolor), papers, pencils, pre stretched canvasses and a satisfying range of etceteras. They are the Dale Music (RIP) of artists materials in SS. Staff are helpful.They also frame your pictures. I suspect this is what brings in most of the revenue.

In this time of COVID, I cannot say how much I appreciate the staff of this store! Over the phone orders, curbside pickup! With texts to let us know our order was ready.Jasper went out of his way -- whether it was helping us find paint supplies for a class, offering to order some from another location, or checking frame measurements! So appreciate his patience and willingness to help.Jasper and Calder are the PERFECT examples of customer service.Will shop here again, they have earned our loyalty!

Really cool art store,ik not really an artist so everything seems a bit a pricey. I went with my friend and she explained to me that everything was actually pretty fair priced compared to other stores she had looked into.

The staff at this store are--and always have been--top notch. Im not just talking about their knowledge of the various crafts and the tools to purchase, Im talking about going out of their way to make sure Im a loyal customer. For instance, recently I made an on-line purchase for a store pickup. One of the items had not made it to the store yet when I stopped by to pick up, so within a day or so, the manager of the store drove to my house to personally deliver white calligraphy ink to me. One cant beat that for service (and) with a smile.

I bought an 18x24 poster and a ready made frame to house the poster and made the grave mistake of trying to frame it myself.Never again.Plaza Artist Materials is my go-to service from this point forward for any and all framing needs.They dry mounted my poster for me to remove all the wrinkles it was suffering from after my lackluster performance of framing it myself.Seriously...unless you are a professional framer you would be doing yourself a massive disservice by attempting it yourself. Believe me, I consider myself reasonably handy and to say it was a struggle would be an understatement.Cheap, amazing service and attitude, and a refreshing strict protocol when it comes to COVID-19 preventative measures.I’d give this a 10 star rating if I could.

Great, independent arts store. A lot if high quality and unique products, fun gift items. Range of prices, so affordable and expensive items. Very nice staff. Michaels has cool stuff, but mostly crafts, while this place has unique and cool stuff, mostly artist items, books, and cool things for kids.

LOVE this place! Always stay longer than I should talking to the employees about our creative ideas! Price are fair but are higher than other art stores but you pay for quility and experience. Went here once with a friend and she was pretty satisfied with the selection that they had. Took us a moment to find it but its a pretty decent location. The location isnt at all bad but there were some guys hanging around not to far from it when we made our way. We did not let them ruin our experience and were glad they didnt follow us into the store. So please be cautious around this area in general. And please go here for high quality art supplies at a decent price.

Unbelievable that PLAZA doesn’t not allow refunds. It’s not a very nice policy to treat customers this way and keep our money for returned items. Never shopping here again.

This is the second Plaza Art location I have been to and so far every staff person has been friendly and helpful without being intrusive. This location has good selection, is easily metro and bus accessible, and often has a groupon available. Highly recommended. Parking is a little tricky but there is a lot of side street parking and three public garages within 2 blocks.

Great customer service and wonderful inventory to select from

I was very rudely turned away from the store today with no explanation as to why. Very unprofessional and he seemed to be irritated by my presence before shutting the door in my face while I was still inquiring about business hours. This was at 11:45am May 1st 2020. All i wanted was transparency paper.

Ive been an artist since I was a kid. This place is THE place. Im not exaggerating when I say that Plaza is the best art supply store Ive ever been to. The staff is always super helpful, the selection is always on point and interesting and the essentials are inexpensive. Near constant sales and great variety of items. Its saying something that Ive lived in the area for almost 5 years and go to this location on purpose every payday and have never had a bad experience. An art supply shop for real, working artists.

This place is very neat and has a huge selection of art supplies for many types of art. The store is pretty and the prople there are nice too. I buy watercolors there, and I can say that they sell quality products, as well as affordable ones too.

The staff at this location are amazing, one and all. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and, most importantly to me, always supportive. They encourage me and help me stay motivated. The shop itself is well-stocked, reasonably priced, and delightful to visit, even when I just want to fondle some pencils and not buy anything. :-)

Great art supply store, they have everything you need for a variety of projects and dont price gouge from what I can see. The staff is friendly and will help you find what you need and if they dont have it are more than happy to order it for you. They also offer a variety of classes on different subjects and for different experience levels -- I walked in one day to a knitting class which I thought was pretty cool.

The female manager who assisted me on September 1st was very knowledgeable about the products in the art supply store.She selected some intermediate level water color brushes for me whilst her colleague recommended a few watercolor fine tip pens to use. Im resuming my painting hobby.

The best place for art supples in Downtown Silver Spring. Way better prices, better management (the employees are helpful, polite and prompt) and the custom framing is beautiful. Stop by and get a free loyalty card if you are a regular crafter cause the coupons add up fast!

I opened up an account with you a few years back. Look up Sam E Studio Creations on your smartphone. Architects draw plans and or make models and superintend construction. The sum of the parts is equal top the total.

Needed a long list of supplies for a studio art class, but an employee was totally ready to take the list and collect everything for me at the cheapest options. Comparatively cheaper than other places, and with a coupon and loyalty card I was able to really bring down the cost of my supplies, and everyone is friendly and helpful!!

I get most of my art supplies here and the staff have always been helpful.

This review is in reference to their framing service, not the art supplies.Took a large photo to get matted and framed... six months later the corners of the frame were coming undone. If I’m shelling out hundreds of dollars to get a forever-piece properly framed, I want it to last... forever. Will not be returning there.

Maybe its my inexperience, but I have this deep nagging feeling that Ive been ripped by Plaza Art with both the Groupon and the product. I spent over two bills for a cheap frame, (one you see in the do it yourself aisle) no glass or matting.

Ive been buying my supplies here for 3 years now, and i must say their quality hasnt improved. I bought two sections of primed unstretched canvas at a yard each, and they undercut each by 2 inches. Its simply unprofessional.
