Ive walked past this place dozens off times but was always in too much of a hurry to check it out. I regret waiting so long! The staff was friendly, coffee was excellent, and my croissant was perfect. The place has a nice relaxed atmosphere, good service, and fair prices.

This cafe have the cutest owners who are so kind and hospitable! I got a regular coffee with a splash of oat milk. The coffee tasted amazing and the overall environment of the cafe was so cute. The breakfast sandwiches look so good as well and made to order.There is a cute outdoor seating area which is great!Tip: $10 credit card minimum

The coffee at Kefa is reliably delicious. Iced coffee, hot coffee, espresso drinks...I also love their biscotti! Very safe for COVID, I’ve been coming here for 2 months during the pandemic and the owner is always, always wearing a mask. 10/10 recommend

Kefa means coffee but to me this place is all about community. My favorite indulgence is a cafe breve. Bring in a canned good for their food drive. Chat with the lovely Abeba or her sister, Lene. And try the Rosemary Injera Crisps!

Wow, I have been in love with Kafe Cafe since they open their door in 1997, the sisters are great example to all business owners small or big. They are friendly, warm hearted and welcoming to all. I wish Harvard business school can do a case study on Kafe Cafe business operation so the whole world knows how coffee place is runs the right way! Excellent espresso with a depth of flavor that embraces what coffee can be. Bring cash as its a small business and theyd rather not pay credit card fees if they can help it (cc min $10, which is 3+ cups). Also have a storefront at the library, which is just as good.

Hidden gem in Silver Sping with the best Cappuccino in the DMV! Friendly staff who clearly values the relationships with their customers. They let us sample the Injera Crisps which will be a go-to snack. 5 stars.

If you want a quiet place to enjoy a good cup of coffee this is a terrific place to go. You might enjoy their food, it is prepared for you when you order.Their menu is simple, but delicious. The women who run and own this cafe are faithful to their customers and community by upholding and offering space to display artwork, invest in earth friendly ways to run their business and listen to you. Each person who walks into Kefa is recognized and respected.

Super cute cafe with a home-y feel. The woman behind the counter was nice and clearly skilled at her job as she was multi-tasking effortlessly between a few orders, even though the shop was pretty slow at the time.The rationale behind my rating is the menu/cost of my coffee. I ordered an iced latte with almond milk. The menu said $4 and I anticipated an upcharge of $.50 or $1 however my total came out to $6.24. I asked about it and she said they charge $1 for both the milk and it being an iced coffee. I didnt like that because 1) the charges werent listed anywhere and 2) why charge extra for changing the coffee from hot to iced?All in all, I would go back because I like to support local businesses owned by people of color. I would try other things and do some reading but I will be sure to ask about the prices beforehand.

Love me a cozy, friendly and creatively thought out cafe! My cafe mocha was perfect and my breakfast sandwich was delicious and big! Exactly what I needed after commuting from Frederick to my new office in downtown Silver Spring. Thanks again, I’ll be back for lunch very soon!

Really like this place. I was in the area to see a performance and had some spare time so I decided to walk around a bit and came across this place.Such a lovely surprise. I only had a coffee and pastry which were very good, but it was the ambiance that was so great. I was greatly warmly, not scripted like the chain coffee shops, and the art was so very enjoyable.

Surprisingly good coffee - the ambience was cozy, neighborly feel, and not exactly modern nor refined - but the coffee, which is a house blend and not available for take home package, was rich and deep. I ordered Americano, which can become watery in general, sustained its richness, even after multiple sips. The other items such as food and regular drip coffee, was average, but for the espresso drinks alone, makes this place a spot to consider

Kefa is my favorite coffee spot around--its like an oasis in a coffee desert. The coffee is really beautifully done, locally roasted, carefully crafted, always delicious. I think they get the balance of smooth and acidic flavors better than most shops, and the preparation / delivery makes you feel special-like your cup has been made just for you by someone who deeply cares about what she does. Im writing this at their library location around the corner from the original shop, munching on an anise biscotti dipped in coffee, enjoying the view and procrastinating a little before doing my school work. Really, no better spot to spend the day:)

Ive been coming to Kefa Cafe since I was about 13. For the past 17 years, Ive been coming here not just for the excellent drinks and food, but also for the warm, amazing customer service. Its the epitome of a homey coffee shop, with truly excellent beverages in a comfortable setting.My faves:The chai (hot, blended or over ice you cant go wrong)The coffee (strong and delicious)The cinnamon tea (spicy and yum)The chicken salad (oh God so so good)The quiche (get it early because it goes fast!)Seriously, its so good. Kefa is always warm and welcoming. I bought a chai latte which was, and always is, phenomenal. They have a sister location at the Silver Spring library which is also worth a visit.

I accidentally went to this cafe, I didn’t even know there was a cafe downstairs in the library but the good thing is I found the best breakfast sandwich and oat latte, very neat and fresh sandwiche, best customer service very friendly very professional thank you for your service sure will definitely come back more often good job 👏🏻

Everybody in Silver Springs favorite coffee shop. Just the place to meet your friends and, quite often, your local council member. Abebe and Leni are unfailingly friendly and welcoming, they make the best latte in town, and, as if that werent enough, they are strong supporters of local artists. If you only have time for one cup of joe in our town, have it here.

This is most welcoming coffee shop Ive been to, and, I must compliment the service and the lovely lady thats responsible.

Went there as part of a small business meetup group visit for wornen. It was just too small to accommodate us. The owner was sociable and warm, though. If you are looking to support international women owned businesses then take a friend for a sit down or a small intimate book club and enjoy a variety of Ethiopian coffee. Its also at the ground level of the Silver Spring library.

The best coffee shop in all of DMV. If youre looking to try something different and away from the conventional service of the big chains and those who are chasing the big chains, hit up Kefa Cafe. You wont regret it. Nothing about Kefa is conventional or boring. Go in, order a coffee, grab a Biscotti, and chill. Kefa is definitely a GEM. The service is neither fake, nor is it overly done. The service is un-apologetically genuine and sincere and you can feel the magic the moment you walk in. I love this place with all my heart and I wish nothing but the best in their business. Thank you for taking care of me on my two years in Maryland. Definitely some of my favorite memories were from Kefa Cafe.

I have frequented just about all of the coffee shops around downtown SS, and Kefa Cafe is by far my favorite. I am a chai tea drinker, so my review is based primarily on the chai, but I have had everything on their menu from eggs to pastries and the food is always fresh and good. I agree, it’s one of my favorite spots to sit even when I don’t have the time :-) it’s very inviting and the owners are warm and gracious, a vanishing commodity these days. I’ve been frequenting café for years, and realized I had never left a review, so here it is.

Located at one end (sort of) of Bonifant Something For Everyone Street, the Kêfa Café - the ê is short - serves Ethiopian coffee that is the best coffee in this quadrant of the galaxy.And its a really big galaxy, buckaroo.Operated by one of two sisters, Flower by name, the smallish two room cafe has a dedicated, occasionally fanatic, following that is as genuine as it is rare. Flower absolutely refuses to offer WiFi on the grounds that w/o it, people (strangers) will talk to each other. And the place buzzes with conversation.Except when it doesn’t which, in general, means a herd of writer/student/book reading types have landed, plugged in their hardware, and are enthralled by the latest Top 10, Or TOP 5 in YouTube.Or homework. (Which by-the-way the place is not far from a small 2 year college.)The place serves food - not too fancy, not too plain - at reasonable prices.So drop in and tell Flower D. Sent ya. Youll be glad ya did.

Amazing place Lenny and Abeba are great people who own the place, and tbey know their customers extremely well making it feel like home. Service and coffee is extremely good, beans coming from a local roastery (nagadi) and their coffee mug collection is impressive.
