2021.09 not too sweet. And not super hard. Coconut is good. I come here for vacation. The only complain is the menu have too much to choose from. Price is ok.

Best homemade ice cream at Syracuse. Iconic wacky art all over the place by local artist J.P. Crangle. A funky place for a summer treat.I like chocolate and coffee so my favorite flavors are Buster Brownie, Chocolate Raspberry Truffles, Dark Chocolate walnut, and Seattle Sludge. I also like their vanilla hot fudge sundae cause its a classic!

The ice cream here is truly great. To say its creamy and smooth is a gross understatement to the quality and I can unequivocally say this ice cream is some of the best ice cream Ive had. Its truly a gem and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I grew up in the Valley, many many years ago, so I know of Gannons, way back when it was a grocery store. But I recently had their ice cream cakes for 3 different birthdays, and Oh. My. God. It was the most luxurious and addictive ice cream I have ever had. 10 stars. Medium cake, with all salted caramel ice cream and crushed chocolate cookie center. Im speechless. The staff is so nice and the product is insanely great.

I’ve fallen in love with their ice cream. I don’t normally get anything fancy, just a single scoop of mint chocolate or peppermint, or banana walnut dipped in chocolate creating a shell. My bf loves their milkshakes. We’ve recently found out we can ask for chocolate soft ice cream for the base, so we did that with banana. It was fantastic. Please don’t quote me on the prices :)

This corner of Valley Drive and Seneca Turnpike in the historic Valley area of Syracuse New York has had an ice cream stand here since at least the 1950s. Originally Arctic Island sold ice cream out of small shack with a large ice cream cone on top. That shack is now gone and Arctic Island took its large cone and move down the street to Midland and Seneca Turnpike. Gannons Isles took over the corner at Valley Drive and Seneca Turnpike. Eventually Gannons grew into the adjacent buildings and set up the homemade ice cream factory. They have served some of the best ice cream in the Syracuse area for many years now. They have a wide range of all the Frozen Dairy treat you come to expect from a full service ice cream stand and parlor. They also have ice cream cakes, quarts and pints of their homemade ice cream, and made to order ice cream treats for a special occasion. It was unfortunate that their expansion to downtown Syracuse closed for it was great for the people working downtown to have this treat that you normally have to travel to the Deep Southside of Syracuses Valley area. But if you are driving through this area of town its worth the stop to grab a cone or other ice cream treats. The comic art on the walls of living ice cream cones is also a colorful display fun for both kids and adults to view and appreciate.

Its ok, personally I think its a bit over rated. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would, the line moves reasonably well. But theres nothing special about the ice cream. They make a nice sundae. Not great but good enough.

Gannons has the best homemade ice cream in Syracuse. They consistently come up with new flavors that are very delicious. They are a little bit on the pricey side for ice cream, and on a hot Summers Day the line can be very long. We always find it worth the wait, its a nice way to treat yourself at the end of the day.

The ice cream certainly delivers. The only con is the parking. This place is quite popular during the warmer months, so parking can be quite chaotic. Neverthess, the ice cream is worth it.

Ice cream is always great here but Customer service experience pretty bad. There’s a blond girl that works there and she was just not very nice she wasn’t polite at all my boyfriend forgot his mask and she was just so rude and told us that we both will need a mask next time we come there to gannons, and she didn’t ask politely at all. We understand we need to wear a mask but if someone forgets that they should offer a mask or be a little bit more polite, I’m just in shock. The Gannons and Shadybrook on McDonald Road is much more nicer, it’s too bad they are closing

I rarely leave online reviews, and when I do, its usually negative, as a warning to others. In this case, total opposite, as it might be the best ice-cream Ive had, in years, if not all time. I lugged two pints home yesterday (Chocolate Pie and Peppermint Chip) and will be raving about them for months to come.

I had the delightful,pleasure of stopping at this place for ice-cream in July 2017. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. There were a lot of choices and they allowed me to choose various flavors. I had the best tasting ice-cream ever in more than 40yrs of eating ice-cream. The flavors I had were so nice and refreshing. Normally I have problems with ice-cream a few minutes of eating it,but this wasnt the case,and I was sitting there with my family,taking my time to savor every bit. I had no reaction except a lasting smile,even in my dream. I recommend this place and will return.❤

Gannons ice cream is not bland, but its not overly sweet either, which l liked. I recently had the Seattle Sludge, rich dark chocolate ice cream base. Other flavors Ive had included caramel or Heath bars, which definitely increased the sweet factor! The kids working there knew every ingredient in each flavor we asked about.

Loved their frozen yogurt. Inside, the place was clean but the AC was turned too cold and the place smelled like bathroom cleaner. So I recommend you eat your ice cream in their outside seating area. My son had mint chip ice cream that he said was also great.

The variety of flavors are impressive and they handle the crowds well. Got the snickers cheesecake. Had enough snickers in it, but the cheesecake flavor was inconsistent. Good enough for a trip back, though.ETA: Social distancing getting iffy despite efforts as of April 2021.

Homemade ice cream! I dont think I need to say more. As we stopped here on our way home from the zoo, we choose to sit inside the air conditioned building while we snacked. The prices were fair and proportions were huge.

All the ice cream is homemade. Flavor selection is extensive. Staff are friendly and service is fast. They really have their act together. We even caught the staff having a little dance party while they were cleaning up. The prices are very competitive.

There is nothing like homemade ice cream in many different flavors. Gannons does them all well. You wont regret stopping in yo find out. They have four locations, great people to serve you at each one, and they stay open till 9 or 10 depending on the location. Make sure to take the whole family and make it a tradition to remember for years to come.

Incredible ice cream and the inside has a real trippy feel. The cherry ice cream is fantastic, but be prepared to wait in line in the summer because its packed. The parking lot can be difficult to navigate when its crowded, but definitely worth the hassle because the ice cream is delicious. Bonus: the dogs love it there too!

DELICIOUS!!! Line moved fast, everything was reasonably priced for what you got, and they also offered quarts and pints to go, which is great if you want to eat later! The selection is unbelievable! So happy Gannons has stood the test of time and still is the best in Syracuse!

Great homemade ice cream. Milkshakes re really good. Their sundaes are good but REALLY decadent, so if you have a sweet tooth it should fulfill your craving. If you like hard ice cream and chocolate you have to try the Bavarian Tort. Best ice cream Ive ever tried!

Definitely the best ice cream in town. It can be a little pricy but the servings are large and well worth it. I would highly recommend their ice cream cakes too. There is a lay of fudge and cookie crumble in the middle of the creamy ice cream and they are frosted with a nice light whipped cream frosting. My favorite kind of birthday cake.

High quality soft serve ice cream. Variety of interesting flavors. A Syracuse cultural icon. The place is popular so service can be slow due to the mass of indecisive patrons. Long waits and people hanging out while they eat instead of going home combined with the small parking lot means it gets jammed easily, be prepared to park where ever you can and keep a sharp eye on your kids.

Great selection of ice cream with some unique selections available too. Definitely a place that stands out, not just eating the ice cream but with the way it looks as well.

I traveled from Mexico ny to meet with some friends for ice cream at the valley location.I picked 4 flavors and none of them were available.They were listed on the web and on the board at the shop but they werent available. The server was also not very pleasant.If your working with the public then a smile is important.Not once did she apologize.What a disappointment.Next time were in the mood for homemade ice cream Ill ask my friends to travel up to my neck of the woods and we will go to Taylor Maries in Pulaski.

Our summertime treat spot. Love trying new flavors, but love even more that they usually have my favorites too. Ice Cream Cakes are great too. My son always gets a slushie. There are smoothies as well, and lemonade.

Think Turkey Hill, not Ben & Jerrys. Lackluster, bland flavors. The interior is kind of trippy and interesting, but the ice cream just doesnt cut it. Ive had better cones at discount pharmacies.

Best ice cream ever however this location has a hard time with portion sizes. Everyone in my group got a single except for one toddler who got a kiddie size. Every ice cream was a totally different size and the kiddie cone was twice the size of my single. Hm..... The velasko location doesnt seem to have this issue.
