Location and history is really what sells this property. Shelley was awesome checking me in, and my room was clean. I had a hard time understanding the AC/heating, but thankfully I didnt need it too much in my room. I feel like the furniture could use some updating however, pieces werent exactly matching each other and while I understand that this hotel is meant to evoke Taos history, the furniture felt less like southwestern old charm and more like grandmas house.

Clean, sanitary, friendly and courteous staff. Very attentive and informative. The hotel room was clean and spacious. This beautiful historic building is in fabulous shape and kept in wonderful order for guests. You will want for nothing. They include guest bathrobes, top of the line bath essentials, comfortable beds, perfect location, and beyond reproach cleanliness standards all in historic Taos style and grandeur. Whats not to love! Heather couldnt have been nicer when we had to book a room at the last minute. Thank you for turning a fiasco into a fabulous finale at the end of our exhausting day.

Fantastic location, friendly staff, clean & comfortable rooms and on top of all that they have an amazing art collection! My only knock is that they charge an additional $6 per day to park in their parking lot in the back. Great place to stay when youre in Taos. Ill definitely be back!

What a treasure! This old hotel on the Plaza in the center of Taos is filled with history. It is a beautiful building smack in the middle of so many art galleries, stores, restaurants, etc. The staff was very friendly, from the front desk to the cleaning crew. The rooms are quite small, which is to be expected in a building this age, but they have plenty of comfortable common areas. Our room was equipped with a large flat screen tv, plenty of towels, Bath & Body works lotion, soap, shampoo, etc., and a coffee maker. We requested a fridge and got it (maybe they are in all rooms, I dont know). Were so glad we found this place and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stay within walking distance of so many fun shops.

I didnt stay here, but I love looking at it when I walk around Taos Plaza. This place looks just like what a Taos hotel should look like. Theres a coffee shop in the lobby, accessible from the hotel and from the outside too. It would be so fun to stay here someday.

Came back to the hotel around 12:15am. Could not get in. Front door locked ( not key card accessible) Called the hotel twice because the first call was routed to voicemail. Was told that the hotel is locked at 11. That we have to call to get in. Thank God my charger was In my car because my phone was dead. Was never informed of this upon checking in.

Stayed here after another smaller lodge failed to keep our reservation. I traipsed in to the front desk at close to 2 a.m., weary from the road and frustrated at my situation. The woman at the desk was friendly and more than willing to help. She made check-in super easy. The room itself was quite nice and the hotel was in a good location for getting out and about the next morning.

Lovely historic hotel, cool decor and room was cozy! We enjoyed the fireplace in our room and the bathrobes. Definitely an old-school hotel experience, which we enjoyed. Would have liked some sort of breakfast for the price of the room, but the free coffee all day was great. Location can’t be beat. Paid parking was $6 per day in private lot, worth the price IMO.

UPDATED: Thanks for asking after a year... Taos was the first trip for my dad after having both knees replaced. When I called to ask about parking and room access I was told there was an elevator and easy close parking. We arrived to find the parking lot around back, down an alley about 300 yards away from the closest door, the entire path was still covered in ice and packed snow (no salt or sand either). We were given directions to the elevator three different times and never found it, there are not many options and no signs, no employee offered to help just directions to three different parts of the lobby. The snickers as i walked away each time should have been a clue but the walk up three flights of uneven stairs with luggage and an old timer who didnt quite know where his feet were was just stressful enough for me not to care at the time. There is handicap parking in front but it was used by an employee (no placard). The alarm went off in the middle of the night and there was no getting back to sleep considering there was no way to cool the room off, 85 plus is not fun. Ended up checking out at 2 a.m. the new person at the front desk thought the whole thing was funny. Sadists...

Great, small historic Inn right in the center of Taos. We had a small suite with a murphy/pull down bed. Staff were super helpful, and the coffee shop in the front gave free coffee to guests in the morning. There was also coffee available in the mezzanine. Both beds were firm, good choice of pillows and extra blankets. Parking in the rear lot was plentiful and just $6 per day.

Just a shade short of 5. Interior maintenance is very adequate, but they admit by ignoring the mifinor details in the rooms. 4 panel doors have amateurish repainting of and repair for grout, door panels have 1/8 inch lines surrounding the panels. I never felt uncomfortable, but the execution of the presentation of the rooms, and at least a explanation of the skimmed style of sheetrock, wall finish, is something that needs to be explained to guests. What happened to the bar? No explanation was offered. Their has been an incredible effort to make these rooms feel authentic, but that needs to address the details, such as wood floor trim that actually covers all the obvious gaps in the floor. Do it right the first time, and it doesnt need to be done again to get it right. The rooms need to be made much more friendly as guests arrive. The TV service is difficult to use, and takes a while to get used too. So surprising how humid it is here if it is rainy at all. I am exceptionally sensitive to humidity where I sleep.

Called 3 days early and booked room. We arrived only to be surprised with what happened. Our original room was given to another guest. We waited while they repeated this action until finally we were booked into a room fir the same price but not on main floor. We were asked to pay for entire stay before being given key access. Parking was an additional price. We were then told front entry doors were closed at 10 PM. We were told to KNOCK LOUDLY on the front door and to continue until someone came to the door. There was no entrance from parking lot into the back of building as the access gate from inside slams shut. We had to walk around building.Bottom line is while this hotel is historic, it is also expensive ($198,00 per night), inconvenient, no continental breakfast, no restaurant, no lounge and required guests to adhere to an unrelastic curfew. Ince in the building we felt captive.Having been in Taos to visit family, it was impossible to relax and enjoy our limited time.We will never again use this hotel.

BEWARE: Even though they publish a FREE CANCELLATION DATE they hit your credit card for your charges - immediately... Then, when you call them they give you double talk about how they have issued you the refund -but they just cant tell you when you might see the money back on your card??? Funny how they can hit your credit card in 15 seconds - but it might take you weeks to see your money back in your account. Makes vacation planning a real nightmare...
