I’ve been there twice because I wanted to give them a second chance but again the staff is so awful, so rude, and it’s like they don’t like adults participating in the bear making process. They make it so uncomfortable and awkward honestly the whole entire staff shouldn’t be working at a toy store if they’re just going to discriminate and make fun of adults who are there to buy toys it makes the experience weird. Both young and old staff just snicker, give you dirty looks, and make fun of you if you’re over the age of 5 trying to buy merchandise which is annoying because build a bear makes products for games that have a teen/adult fan base so they shouldn’t be surprised that there are adults there trying to buy merchandise. I suggest just going to the one in Northridge because the staff is just so horrible and they’re literally just gonna sit there and make fun of you, snicker, and laugh it’s so weird seeing alleged grown women act like this like this. They should not be working at a toy store.
It was very fun! The only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because there wasnt many bears to choose from. (About 2 of my interest, no normal teddy bears, but the rest were more child like) I ended up choosing a bunny, which the staff members helped bring to life of course, and the worker stuffing her made the expierence super fun! I hope to go back soon! :)
They had one bear to choose from or a couple Disney characters that had outfits already on that do not come off which defeats the build a bear experience. Only a couple things for boys. Rude staff
I am heartbroken and devastated for my two year old due to our experience this past Saturday at Build a Bear. 😔We took my newly 2 year old to the Build-A-Bear location at the TO mall to finally give up his pacifier and put it in his very first bear. We had talked up the visit to him all day long and he was over the moon excited. I had checked the website prior to our visit to see what their new policies were for COVID and no where on the website does it state anything about a 2 year old having to wear a mask. Upon arrival to the store we were asked how old my son was, I had said he was newly 2 and they let me know that my child will need to wear a mask for his entire time spent in the store. I let her know he unfortunately doesn’t wear a mask for very long as it’s not required of him anywhere else (the cdc recommendation is 3 and up) so he doesn’t exactly grasp the concept yet. They told me he must wear it or be asked to leave. My son wore his mask for about 10/15 minutes and then was done wearing it. I sat on my knees so I was eye level with him and explained he was doing such a great job and that we were almost finished and he needed to keep it on until then. While I’m engaging in conversation with my son, the manager of the store screams at us from the other side of the store that if my son wont put his mask on then we needed to get out. My son screamed “no thank you” between tears and threw his head back and hit it on the floor. I scooped him up and rocked him while he was crying and the manager again told me I needed to exit the store right now. At that point I was completely embarrassed and my child was heartbroken as he didn’t understand what was happening at all. I am completely disgusted with the way we were treated at this location and their lack of compassion and empathy towards a two year old. I don’t believe people like that should be working with children at all.My husband who felt like my son shouldn’t be punished simply because he didn’t understand what was happening, stood in line to complete the process and have our sons bear made. The associate operating the stuffing machine watched the entire altercation happen and was in no rush to fill the bear and help get my husband out of the store. She slowly went through the whole process and had the audacity to tell my husband to hug the heart and tell her how much he loves the bear. I’m absolutely blown away by the entire experience and will never be back.EDIT: we are not in any way anti-maskers, I am fully vaccinated and my husband and I both had our masks on the entire time. We were in no way disrespectful to anyone around us and happy to comply.
I was excited to do the pay your age birthday bear for my sons 2nd quarantine birthday (April 2021) I looked online, did research and bought a gift card. Once we got to the store at the mall, the doors were locked with a note on the door just saying sorry for the inconvenience. Online says they are open, the phone number works but you cant get through to talk to anyone to get more details. Im just frustrated that its not actually open and no word on when it will, I hope they update their online info. Maybe for birthday number 3. Edited to add: we made it back and we got to build our bear! We had a lot of fun!
Has a great selection of stuffed animals and accessories, and has a really great COVID-19 prevention policy
Far and beyond costumer service.....cant wait to take another trip there...
Terrible customer service. Terrible employees. Tried to support a local business. Never again. Amazon it is
Today we visited the store & the first person to greet us at the entrance was Nikki. She explained all the rules & what the new safety procedures were. She let us walk around the store after explaining everything but was very focused on what exactly my kids were looking for. She was so patient, very kind and sweet.. Made our experience great! it was our 1st time visiting this location and definetly not our last! Thank you Nikki for such a wonderful experience. We Highly recommend her !p.s. The heart ceremony was our favorite! ❤️🐻🐻❤️
Nice staff. Lacking on the options of stuffies and accessories to choose from compared to other build a bear shops we have visited though.
Very nice store for building your or stuff animal and great sales
First time visiting and building a bear, my clerk made the experience very fun, easy, and personal. I wish I remembered her name but she was the shorter girl with black hair and light voice, A++
Tried to go when it was supposed to be open and nobody there! Kids were devastated!!
The staff here is awful to young children! Spare your kids, don’t take them here.
Great service and kids love it.
Will never return to a store that supports TYRANNY !!!!THIS IS AMERICA !
Great place to take the little ones. There is such a small window of opportunity in a childs life, to create as many positive memories as we can before they grow up. This place is one of those opportunities ! Dont let it slip by !!!Its not too expensive, but theres tons of options, so it could be! Plan on spending $30 at the least. In my opinion the experience / memory alone is worth 100 times more, and the fact that your child gets to keep the stuffed animal they just brought into existence is an amazing bonus!
I give one stars very rarely. While a long time ago I had positive experiences, the last time I was there was very different. The store was extremely humid, excessively hot and most importantly very hard to breathe in. When this was discussed with an employee they said it was normal and that it is usually too freezing, instead of too hot because of their stuffer. If you provide an area aimed for children, you need to make it easily breathable.
Build-a-Bear Workshop is a wonderfully fun store to visit at the Thousand Oaks mall. I visited the store around 5:30pm on a Friday and there was only 1 employee at the cash registers and 1 employee stuffing the animals. This would have been fine if the store wasnt packed with people. I literally had to wait 20-25 minutes to get my 1 year olds birthday bear stuffed. Thankfully I was there with my husband and I could walk around the store with him while we waited. The store itself is very clean and they have a lot of stuffed animal choices. They also have a very large selection of fun accessories for the stuffed animals. However, you could easily spend $50-80 for a stuffed animal with clothes and some accessories. Overall cute store and idea, but a bit pricey.
Such great customer service!! We only bought a bear on sale and we were treated so, so great!!! Everyone was genuinely nice and helpful! And we got such a cute bear for our boy!
My nephews loved this place and were thrilled to pick and stuff their newest friend. They can’t wait for another opportunity to go. The only downside I can see is the dent in your wallet after picking a new friend and dressing it up. We got 4 bears, complete with outfits, for about $100 total.
Good customer service thank you
Kids love choosing and helping make their own creations. Costs can add up quickly for a stuffed dust collector, so my wife will look for deals online ahead of time.
My granddaughter loved it and i purchased two build a bears for her birthday plus clothes and she loved picking out the lion and birthday bear.
I had a horrible experience with some very rude employees. We will never return.
The customer service was great. They were helpful and not pushy. They have a wide range of clothes and accessories from super hero outfits to every day outfits. They also have an easy to assemble closet.
Amazing time for my gDaughter
My daughter loves this place. There is a lot to choose from. Be careful though, it can add up quick!
I think this is only of the best and largest locations but like all of the others not friendly to the needs of children when is a childrens store. I recently removed a star due to my 10 year olds review. After leaving she said, mom they are not nice in there, why was the lady so mad?
At Build a Bear workshop you will all was have fun and a new friend 🐻It is a amazing to go and do fun things 🐻But the best part is to make your own BFF bear to hug and to be by your side 💖And it will be there for you all day and all night 🎆And you can have your own birthday party .With your friends and with one of the party packages. It is the best to go there and make a bear with your child
We had a birthday party @ store for my daughter a year ago and had such bad experience that we choose not to return. The service provided for our guests was decent, but dealing with them afterward was horrible. The old ladies working cash registered were extremely slow, uncongenial, and had difficulty performing basic addition and multiplication. It took more than an hour to figure out the bill. Store manager needs to hire cashier with at least high school education and basic math skills.
Small kids love the experience of making their own stuffed animal.
My kids love this place. I love it when there is a sale
My daughter has lived this place for 18 years.
Not a cheap way to get a stuffed animal but the kids like it.
Ruined the surprise and pricey...
Best place. Best people.
Amazing workers, great experience!
Cool place
Fun
I love the Bears
Collectibles here I come
