I have been in a lot of coffee shops this one tops the best. The owner was very nice the staff was great the service was awesome. If you get a chance I would go and visit have lunch have breakfast. Thank you for letting us feel like were part of the family.

A coffee shop where you dont just get coffee, but an experience. The back of the shop is open so you can see the equipment for their in house roasting process. Staff was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended for you caffeine fix!

This is our go to cafe for a light breakfast and delicious coffee.They have a good arrangement of bagels, macaroons, muffins, cookies and other baked items.I usually grab one of those or a bagel sandwich. Their Island Crack is my go to iced coffee with coconut. Deeeelish.

Absolutely the best of the best. The fla ors of the coffee roasted in house surpass anything anywhere else. To top it off the muffins are like no other, get there early because they will sell out every day and blueberry is usually the first to go (for good reason) Definitely do not miss

Not only does this place have truly amazing ( somewhat addicting ) artisan coffee and food, they also have a very accommodating and friendly staff! Aside from this, my new favorite thing about Black Gold is that they do not impose their personal beliefs on their customers. I personally have chosen not to support any business that attempts to take away my personal freedoms and right to choose, and recently that has made going just about anywhere quite difficult. I want to give a big thank you to everyone at Black Gold Coffee Roasters for giving customers the respect that so many others are not. When I entered the shop I was happily greeted and welcomed, a far cry from other establishments that often times yell across the store for you to mask up or get out. I wish I could say I was greeted with a smile, but I do understand that having the staff wear masks can make some people feel more comfortable. This location has informed me that they are, and will continue to follow any state orders or mandates. I have since informed my friends that live in the area, and within an hour they now have 3 new customers based on this information alone. Just wait until they try the coffee!Black Gold, there is a large community of people looking for places to go where they won’t feel shamed for exercising their freedom of choice, and it is growing by the day. The owners are extremely rude and feel extremely entitled just because they have mediocre coffee. Every time my fiancé and I have came to Black and Gold, the lady owner always has something to say and has belittled us every time. She is very unprofessional with the way she speaks to customers, and how she responds to negative feedback. If you don’t believe me just read the negative comments and look at her responses. She clearly has to defend herself because she knows the customers are right about her narcissistic ways. I think the community would enjoy this coffee shop a lot more if she just wasn’t there. I am looking forward to her response!

I ordered the turtle latte and it was wonderful. The low rating is for the fact that the young lady who took my order seemed terrified and would hardly speak to me, even when I was trying to inquire about their products because it was my first time there. I found it very odd and frustrating. I later found out that the woman behind her who was actually making the coffee was one of the owners. I have also learned that they are severe and verbally abusive to their employees. So now it makes sense!

Had a good talk with the roaster and owner. His take on coffee is darker roasts.If you prefer light, stay away from this shop. Everything will be too dark for you.That being said, the roaster here was kind enough to teach me about the coffee and tasting notes -the way he sees them. It changed this review from 3 stars to 4. :)The oatmeal raisin cookie was excellent.Milk is steamed okay. Not great.Everything just hits my mouth as dark and it effects my experience. Still, kind local business. Enjoy the coffee bags on the walls.

If you live within 50 miles of Venice, FL, love coffee, and have not visited Black Gold before, you are doing yourself a disservice. If you dont live near Venice, order and have them ship.I am a part time resident 4+ months/year. I first discovered them probably 3-4 years ago.Several things stand out. They source the finest micro lots, the beans are perfectly roasted to bring out the best qualities of each lot, and last, but hardly least, the knowledge and love of the owner and all of the staff when it comes to their coffees.For what it is worth, their current crop from Kenya is equal to or better than anything I have had before, and I have had great coffees from around the world!Thanks for your suggestions, Gary!

Excellent local coffee spot in Venice,FL. Relaxing and cozy cafe. Tried the Double con panna (espresso with whipped cream) the espresso used is smooth and nutty. They have their own roastery in house which is very nice. Great selection of beverages. Definitely worthy.☕

Truly artesian coffee. An incredible amount of knowledge and skill goes into the roasting process from the owner, Gary. The coffee selection is extensive and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to learn about the farms, families, and countries growing the beans. Every staff member I’ve encountered is friendly, helpful, and they all seem to enjoy their job and each other. The teamwork is outstanding. This is by far the best coffee and they’ve clearly worked diligently to create an enjoyable space and experience for all. Highly recommend.

Good coffee and kind staff. Outdoor seating is nice because the indoor space is somewhat cramped. When you enter, if there is a line, there is not much place wait. Youre probably right next to someones table, feeling like youre invading their space.

Ordered two drinks... it is NOT what the pictures show. One soy cappuccino and one flat white. Both milk and espressos were burnt (steamed too hot and espresso cake pressed too tight...)The photo attached was supposed to be a Flat White. It is way too frothy. And the milk is super watery.NOT RECOMMENDED.

As full-time residents of Florida, we enjoy occasional visits to Black Gold Coffee Roasters. The food on the limited menu is very good, the coffee is great and I enjoy interacting with the staff. Ive spoken with the owner several times and I find him to be extremely intense. He must know that responding to negative reviews is never a win for an eatery. In his defense, he has a problem with Internet Squatters who spend few dollars and much time using free wifi. Perhaps there is a way to limit the amount of time a device can stay online for a specific length of time. The squatters at Starbucks disrupt the experience for regular customers. Chill owner, your business has it going.

Some of the best coffee Ive had anywhere and Ive had coffee in every corner of the country. Despite some winy one star reviews from one group of people, I had a great experience meeting the owner and I used the shop as my mobile office all day. After chatting with Gary I was easily convinced to try the Ham and Brie Panini, which was excellent, and get more coffee.If you work remote and want to use a coffee shop all day for your mobile office like I do, pony up and buy some product. Dont give the rest of us a bad name.

I moved to Venice Florida with my wife 8 months ago from Slingerlands NY. We had a coffee in the area that was really excellent and the company won a contest to play their small business video commercial at half time at the superbowl a few years ago.Having said that, I think Black Gold Coffee Roasters is every bit as good, IF NOT BETTER!I prefer the Organic Black Blend and buy 2 pounds at a time!I highly recommend this coffee roaster to anyone who is looking for a great coffee.

Two of my friends and I went into the establishment with laptops to do work for about an hour. There was plenty of space, so we combined 2 tables and ordered 2 coffees with the intention of ordering more while we worked. After about 20 minutes, the owner approached us and asked my friend who had not ordered if he would like to make a purchase. My friend politely declined, at which point the owner insisted that we were taking up too much space for the amount that we had purchased. He claimed we were using 9 seats, but we combined a table for 2 and a small table for 4. We offered to consolidate into a smaller table but the owner rudely insisted that my friend make a purchase. He attempted to guilt and berate us into more purchases by insisting that he runs a small business, and relies on the income. We felt he was being extremely disrespectful, and informed him that he no longer had our business. At this point, he offered to get my friend a water, but we insisted on leaving. The owner then said my friend wasnt a customer anyway and that we could go to the Starbucks down the street if we didnt like how we were treated. Among the three of us, we would have ordered two coffees, two refills, a sandwich, and two bags of coffee beans. That is conservatively $40 of purchases that was lost.All of your negative reviews are for customer service interactions and not product. My advice: as a small business competing with big chains, the focus should be entirely on customer experience. If you as the owner approach people and create a friendly environment, that is something that a big chain cannot offer. Instead of trying to garner sympathy by consistently complaining about the plight of small business, focus instead on providing the friendly environment and customer service that your competitors can not offer.

Clean, well maintained coffee shop. They also roast their own beans on the premises. Excellent breve lattes. My favorite espresso drink.Their muffins and zucchini bread are wonderful as well! I just wish they didnt close so early.

If you like to brew your own coffee, they also have the widest and most exotic collection of freshly roasted beans from around the world. All with a roasted date for optimal freshness. Just got back to work after stopping into Black Gold for the first time. The atmosphere was perfect. The coffee drink was delicious and made just right. The service was FAST! One complaint: The staff looked like Circus Performers with their many tatoos and piercings. That just grosses me out. It looks dirty! I would prefer to hand my money to someone respectable. I would also prefer to be served by someone clean. Please clean up your staff. Thank you!

Great staff, wonderful owner and the product they produce is superior.Pricing is comparable to luxury coffee elsewhere and is justified (best brew Ive had on the east coast!!!).The coffee is hand roasted, and the beans curated by the owner who has a deep passion for his craft and a good eye for business.Would be a suitable place to bring a business partner for a quick cuppa or even a date- the decor is modern and airy; the music is chill. I didn’t realize they were closing in 10 min, so maybe that was the reason for the rudeness. Long story short I asked for the manager, he finally did come over to talk with me which did more harm than good. He could care less. So I see where the employees get their attitude from!Save your money folks. Go someplace else that appreciates your business and your money!

The owner is very passionate about his product and service and it shows in quality and experience of your visit. Hopefully one day he takes criticism to heart. It takes a special kind of business owner to constantly be pointing his fingers at others. It’s not a coincidence the only time people give 1 star reviews are when they come into contact with the owner.

Nice and very Beautiful set-up here! The place has been really gaining business over the months, but is still certainly worth the wait.It would be nice to see them cut a bit into the large roasting area in order to add some more seating for the customers. I truly appreciate what this little cafe does for the people of Venice, Florida.

Love the delicious coffee, tasty food, quick attentive staff, and cozy atmosphere. Even after I moved several miles away I still go back to Black Gold for all my coffee needs, they are well worth the trip!

It saddens me to say that I will not be returning to this establishment ever again.Yesterday, I had brought a few of my family members here for coffee. (They have decent coffee.) Not even 10 minutes into our visit, and the Owner starts berating the barista behind the bar. Ive never heard anyone speak to another person so disgustingly in my life. This man will not be receiving another penny from me, my family, or my friends. No one ever has the right to be so unjust to another human being for ANY reason. This was a great place to get coffee. I wanted to go every day while we were on vacation in Venice. The owner was really friendly. He was very kind to my 7 year old as he was roasting and I was explaining the coffee roasting process. I wish there was one close by in Chicagoland.

Girl with long black hair and tattoos helped at front counter - she had a scowl in her face the entire time when not only helping us but others.Asked her a simple question about a coffee and she was clueless and cavalier.Coffee was too bitter and tasted old.Terrible experience.

Ive been coming to this coffee shop for about 6 months now. The coffee is great, the owner is friendly, and the gluten free macaroons are awesome! Not once have I heard the owner scream at any staff. When I am in there hes talking with customers as he roasts coffee beans. Id hate to see anything happen to a great local business for some upset employees. Its easy to pass judgement if youre not a business owner, and cant see things from the other side. Please visit this business and form your own opinion. Support your local businesses.

NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! Went with family and my kids, we had some food and coffee and after we finished obviously kids made a little mess on the floor and the owner came up to us after we were about to leave and said would you like a dust pan to clean the mess on the floor!! Owner is really RUDE!!!

Cafe with nice breakfast and lunch selection with coffee roasted on site. Good espresso drinks, but even better specialty coffee drinks if youre in the mood for something different. Try the BG Freeze with chocolate... espresso blended with ice, frappe mix, and cocoa.
