Finally, the family breakfast diner experience is available for the folks that are gluten free! This place is standard fare diner coffee, diner pancakes, waffles, and sides, at diner prices and portions. Its perfect! Excellent location for visitors to Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens. Plan on a little wait during busy seasons or events because everyone loves this place, locals and tourists alike.

The food was pretty good, although their home fried potatoes needed some serious seasoning, and theyre kinda dry 😵 Ouellette, perfect size, onions and peppers, fresh and crisp, French toast, perfect! Wifes food was equally as nice. Sweet tea, just about right! The wait time to get in sucked, but it was worth it! Well be back!

Our waitress, Frances is amazing and I would highly recommend her. She’s beyond experienced and she’s soooooo sweet. The owner is very engaging and a nice guy.

Ordered buttermilk stack of pancakes. They were so dry they were falling apart and tasted nothing like buttermilk. They tasted like plain box mix pancakes. For a pancake house to not have good homemade pancakes, I’d give it one star but the waitress was polite. $3 for a cup of coffee is extreme.

Never again. Was told the wait was twenty minutes, but once seated had to wait about hour after that to get our food. My pancakes, which were said to be served with whipped topping came dry. My husbands food was cold where the French toast wouldnt even melt the butter. Somehow the eggs were warm on the bottoms and cold on top. No one ever came to check on us, and we had to ask for our charge receipt so we could leave.

Dont be fooled by the cover of this book. We were so happy to take the time to enjoy the fluffy beautiful pancakes 🙂.Clean, friendly, great prices. Nothing fancy, just a regular old diner! Good coffee too.

This place is wonderful. Theres an old world charm as if going back in time. The other customers an the staff were all super friendly. Our server Caroline was #1 she chatted with us for a moment, answered all our questions, was very attentive and knew just what to recommend. It is a Pancake House and we didnt even order pancakes lol. Their Fried Chicken is Out of this World. The prices are a bit high but worth it especially for the chicken. We are definitely coming back the next time were in Williamsburg and will highly recommend Capital Pancake House to everyone.

Although this restaurant is dated, theyre still trying to keep it limping along. It was lunch time on Sunday. No waiting to get in. Once seated it was 10 minutes before Ann came by to get our orders. The restaurant wasnt very busy. Ann mentioned that the cook was overwhelmed. Food took over 45 minutes to get to our table. It was decently prepared. Nothing special.

The food was great the service was exceptional my server, Daniella was the best server Ive had in years. She saw that I brought my own small bottle of maple syrup and wouldnt let me open it, told me that shes had some in the kitchen. She said most people never asked for it they just eat pancake syrup (toxic junk).

Very very good food. Its a very busy place so there is a wait and felt like a long time to get our food. But was worth the wait and not terribly expensive.

This is a fantastic place for almost any kind of American breakfast you can imagine! We were staying at the hotel next door and almost didnt go because the parking lot was always packed. But the owner has his sleeves rolled up and is out there with his team ensuring speedy seating and great food & service, with a family owned feel. Even has some Mimosas for those who like to start early 😉

Capitol Pancake House was our 3rd pancake house in 4 days! It was the favorite of 1 of our group. Pancakes were tasty, especially the chocolate chip pancakes which oozed with semisweet chocolate that complemented their batter beautifully. The gluten-free pancake was pretty good (Colonials was better). Eggs, omelets and bacon were all good. Service was pretty friendly. Indoor seating only. They took cleaning and other precautions seriously.

Extremely long wait time on Saturday. Waited for over 45mins for food. Wasnt terrible, nice staff but it was a short black hair in my eggs, glad I didnt eat or want them. French Toast was good and sausage

Capitol Pancake House is an awesome place to go for breakfast. The wait for a table can be and was a wee bit of a wait. Took my wife and me about 30 minutes to get a table. The food is well worth the wait. As the pictures show, my wife ordered the eggs Benedict and for myself, the cinnamon apple topped pancakes. Now my wife hardly has an appetite to finish total meals but again as the picture shows, she finished this. A true testiment to the quality of the food. The service matches the food even when the restaurant was packed. Being packed is yet another testiment to the quality of this establishment. And yes there were patrons still waiting for a seat when my wife and I had finished. They are only open till 2pm but again, the food and atmosphere is well worth the wait. Cost is very competitive and as stated, the service matches the quality of food. Highly highly reccomended. Wiiliamsburg, Virginia visit and visit Capitol Pancake House when you do. You will not be disappointed.

We looked for a place to eat breakfast that served gluten free pancakes.Capitol Pancake House was the first place that popped up, so we checked it out.I had the omelette with an order of pancakes on the side and my wife had the GF pancakes with apples and whipped cream. She said they were pretty good, but not the best shed ever had. Just really happy to find any GF pancakes.Everything was excellent, including the service. Good food, large portions, fast.

We showed up with a bus load of 30 teens visiting from NYC on a busy Sunday morning, and manager/owner Dean accommodated us right away. Not only was breakfast delicious, but the service did not skip a beat with the mad rush of an additional 30 mouths to feed…and the staff was wonderful! Great experience, great people.

We arrived around 9:20am for breakfast just before the line started building up on Saturday morning. Ann was super friendly and accommodating for our kids and many questions, and provided great customer service. She could tell we were in a hurry to meet up with friends and helped us get on the way quickly. The kids loved the generously portioned chocolate chip pancakes, and we enjoyed our waffles and eggs too.

MIMOSAS! Huge selection of mimosas, they even offer flights. Had the mimosa of the day the JuneBug- lavender, blueberry, Moscato & prosecco. Grecian omelet was delicious, they did NOT skimp on the Feta. Tons of options for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Fresh coffee, great food, good prices. What more could you want?Note they got really busy starting about 930 on Sunday, would recommend getting there earlier on the weekend.

Went during peak hours, but the staff did an excellent job seating people as quickly as they could. I had the French toast, picture below, with eggs. Eggs were a little over cooked for medium eggs but thats ok. They were still delicious. I hope the staff knows that they did an excellent job even with how busy they were. Keep up the good work

We ate at several excellent restaurants while in the Williamsburg area, but this was my favorite.I had their breakfast sampler, and it was outstanding.The place was packed, and its easy to see why!Many places were named pancake house or waffle house, but THIS is the one to stop at. Food was delicious, and the two brothers that own the place were working as hard as the rest of the staff.

Literally our first stop in Williamsburg after driving through the night. And what a warm welcome it was! The staff was very sweet and the food delicious. I also appreciated that they had flavored creamers for the table so I could mix and match my own flavored coffee!

Old school style country-breakfast-diner. Enormous portions. A meal is like three pieces of chicken, a waffle, 2 biscuits with sausage gravy, cheesy grits with virginia ham and red eye gravy, two eggs, bacon and toast. Prices reflect the portion size. If thats your thing and you dont mind waiting an hour (theyre always busy) for breakfast, give it shot. The food was good, i ate out of my doggy bag for a week.

We were seated promptly and served drinks. However, we waited another 20 minutes before the waitress came back to take our order. I was looking forward to a Belgian Waffle but was told that all of the waffles were MALT so settled for pancakes instead. I will not be going back.

Expensive. We asked to sit outside, we were ignored for 30 min after ordering. Waitress not super helpful, kind of off putting. I’m on a special diet and asked for bacon and eggs (extra egg) when my food showed up, the food was cold and I only got 2 eggs. They charge for cheese. A piece of craft plastic cheese. My meal was smaller than my 7 year olds kids meal. It’s expensive feeding a large family. We rarely go out. This was disappointing. We won’t go back.

Overall, the food here wasnt bad, but I cant call it perfect either. I ordered their Eggs Benedict and while it tasted good, the eggs werent runny and there was a piece of egg shell in my last bite, which, while it tells me the eggs werent pre-made, wasnt ideal to have crunched into.My friend ordered bacon waffles. Tasted good but they were a bit too crispy for her liking. Her father had the roast beef platter with mashed potatoes. The beef was a bit too chewy and the potatoes tasted like they were instant.But again, overall, everything tasted good and the wait staff was nice, polite and attentative and if we get back to this area, Id be willing to come here again to give this place another chance.

I must say I was a little skeptical at first because my new co-workers hyped this place up so much, but I now see what all the hype was about. The food was very good and the portion had me full all day. The staff was excellent!! The owner even came by and chatted for awhile.

The generator went out while we were having breakfast. I think a discount should have been applied do to the fact we had to woof down our food due to the a/c and electricity being off. The place is nice and the food was good 👍

Swung in on a Sunday about 10am.. Line outside, but waited probably 15 mins. Portions are large, food is good, service was good as well especially with the current lack of available workers. It also appeared that the delay may be because they arent seating at 100%. There were several tables that were not being used at all.I wish they would offer Wi-Fi as its well known that area is a dead zone for cell phone signal.

Was visiting for the week and looking forward to this breakfast. Unfortunately, the pancakes were hard on the outside and somewhat dry. It was most disappointing since this is the main dish I was looking forward to. They did discount the meal but I would have rather had some nice fluffy pancakes! The rest of the meal was good, eggs, and bacon.

They do have alot of customers, but they messed up the order completely Even after informing them of the missing food, they still missed more food Can not tell you how the grits i ordered because i didnt get them, the eggs were dry and the rest of the food was bland.

Never disappointed at Capitol! Everyone gets what they want and the portions are generous. Kayla, our waitress this past visit, was outstanding. Nick (the owner) was on-site and spent some time talking history of the restaurant with us. You really cant find better folks who go out of their way to make eating here a friendly and delicious experience. The prices are more than fair for CW and they have a loyalty card that is worth having as well if youre a frequent visitor like we are! Im a fan of the buckwheat pancakes! Keep up the good work!

We have always driven past there, but never stopped. It has a variety of food. The breakfast was delicious and so was the coffee. The wait staff were great. Well worth the drive for us.

The menu was very confusing and it didnt seem to represent the advertisements in the Williamsburg magazine. I was extremely disappointed.We spent so much because we were all trying to get the meal we wanted. The sides were very much over priced. I do not recommend going to this restaurant.

I have no idea how this place has as high of reviews as what it does. We just left and it was a terrible experience. Our waiter was super slow and he only had 1 other table. Other tables that arrived after us received their food way before us. We had a super long wait before he even came to get our drink order. Then a really long wait for food. When our food came out they brought me pancakes instead of the waffles I ordered. When I told the waiter I ordered waffles he asked me if I was sure and said he heard pancakes. He was very argumentative. I just ate the pancakes as to not wait longer. My husband’s egg was raw. It took a super long time for our check. Overall very disappointed!

This place is awesome. The food is terrific, and the servers are all nice. It can be a little pricey, but its worth it. Also its pretty much always busy, so there might be a wait, but normally theyre pretty fast at getting you seated.

Not sure what happened over the pandemic, but the food was just edible. My family and I were extremely disappointed. Eggs were runny, bacon chewy, pancakes were hard and the steak was over cooked. Not sure Ill go back to give it another try. There are too many other pancake houses in the area to try.
