What a great place to take your antique and classic cars to get repaired. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable... With talent and skills that are not easy to find these days, when you reach the point where I cant do any more yourself, take it to them!!! From a simple carburetor adjustment to a full on restoration they can do it all!
Brought my 68 El Camino in for repairs and partial restoration. The estimate alone cost $900. The estimate was faulty and did not represent my vehicle, had the same work charged twice in multiple places, and had 3X over-costed items. It seemed that the technician who wrote the estimate did not look at my vehicle closely and was trying to take me for a fool.
In addition to the quality of workmanship being outstanding, I found the thoroughness, patience and honesty of communication to be even better. I had two major services performed on my 72 F-250. I had a completely new wiring harness installed in the vehicle and it is super clean, probably better than the factory electric, and no doubt better looking. These people obviously took pains to make it good AAaaaaand make it look good.I also requested a complete diagnostic on all parts and systems of the vehicle. Using the report generated from that, I worked w/ Matt R. on a prioritized plan of attack based on money, time, urgency and importance. Matt was so patient, and never once tried to upsell me. He was honest, and even did the thing where he suggested I not have them perform something because it was either not particularly important and/or was something I could do myself. Also, the diagnostic in and of itself, even if I would have had no other services provided, is worth its weight in gold. Now I have a checklist and parts list (with parts numbers) for things I can do myself. And for a mechanically inclined, but not entirely knowledgeable guy like me, thats the perfect amount of information for me to get going. Also, these folks are true to their Rules of the Road, so read them. These people arent techs, their true blue mechanics which means theyre part engineer and part artist. The works takes time, but these people are highly skilled and they care about the end product.Go with Blackwolf...youll be very satisfied.
The Owner showed Attentive Service, and used his vast knowledge to identify problems Outside of the initial repair that would help me save money 😄👌🏼
Love theses people, friendly outstanding work and honorable to their core. Oh yeah and the work they do is fantastic. Have never let me down yet. Do the job the right way the first time.
The wait for an opportunity to get your vehicle in is long but at this point it seems to have been worth the wait. They have been very hands on and helpful one I got my vehicle in, now I will see how the rest of the process goes.
I recently had a fairly complex set of engine modifications completed on my 1966 Mustang and was extremely pleased with Chris Berrys level of expertise, professionalism, outstanding attention to detail, and quality assurance he provides in his service. He is a straight shooter and will not try to sell you things you dont need or want. The labor rates are justified in the sheer quality of work he provides. If you want it done correctly just go see this guy, he will help you.
Meticulous care of your vehicle. Honest and courteous. I drive 30 miles to get there and wouldnt go anywhere else.
Chris has been amazingly helpful in many ways. My Father passed away, leaving behind a 1979 VW Bug Convertible that requires a ton of work -- he and I talked through the possibilities, from a look over to see what it may take to get her up and running, to potential pitfalls and costs to restore her - the A-Z of vehicles. I highly recommend Chriss company -- he is incredibly helpful in many ways and is very knowledgeable.
This has got to one of the best places to have custom work done to good ol classic cars. I love the fact that they actually let you purchase your own parts to have installed. They are professional and extremely pleasant to work with. They explain the issue and work with you on options! Highly recommend!!
I had been searching for a classic 70s muscle car for several months and Chris was extremely helpful in providing tips and information about these cars. When I got my 1973 Dart, it had a rear main and pinion oil leak which Chris fixed very quickly and at a great price. I have been to and talked to a lot of different shops and you honest will not get a better experience. With Black Wolf, you dont get treated like just one of many customers, they remember who you are and you can really talk to them as a friend. Really one of the best experiences at Black Wolf.
They were great from the moment I made the first phone call to inquire about services, until I picked up my car upon completion! They were fast, nice, respectful and did all of their work at an honest, reasonable price! Would recommend them highly! Thank you for making my car service experience a flawless one!
Not Resposive: Ive been trying for two weeks to discuss some restoration I need done but they do not take or return my calls. They responded to my initial email and that is it. My review certainly may not accurately represent their normal business habits but this is my experience with them to date.
Great shop. My wife and I purchased a 1973 VW bus to fix up. This shop has helped us along the way with items we couldnt possibly take care of on our own. They do fantastic work and they really know their stuff
The best mechanics in the business.
Ive taken my Z32 to Chris plenty of times and I always drive away satisfied. Had nothing but great experiences with Black Wolf so far. Very comfortable lobby as well as great service!
Chis has taken care of our late model cars for years. Over the last several months he has helped to rebuild my sons 94 Tercel (notorious for oil leaks), fix and very annoying rumble in the drive train of my 03 Tundra truck (rear wheel bearings, rear brakes, and other work), and most recently fix a battery killing driver door latch problem and coolant leak on my daughters 07 Pontiac G6 GT.His prices for the work are always fair and he wont up-sell you on what you dont really need. A car/truck is a machine. Machines will inevitably brake/fail no matter who makes them or how well you take care of them. Its always good to know I have someone who will give me options, a recommendation, and quality work at a good price.
These guys are old school car people that love cars and the hobby that surrounds them. Quality work and great customer service my only choice .
When my wifes van went flat during a patient visit (she is a home health Physical Therapist) Chris, at Black Wolf Automotive, was able to help with getting a tow truck and was able to find the cause of the flat and correct it! And did not charge us an arm and a leg to do it! :) ... Will use them for everything else, from now on.
This review is long overdue. I had the privilege of working with Chris, Maxi and the team at Black Wolf several months ago. Everyone on the team is extremely knowledgeable and handles each car with the utmost care as if it was their own personal project. The owner Chris Berry is incredibly friendly, always willing to talk about cars and teach you what hes learned. If you have ANY car related question about nearly any make or model, he can give you an answer. There were mostly classic cars (Corvette, Camaro, Beetles, Ghia, etc.) when I was there but theyve done work on more modern Ferraris and Lamborghinis so they have a wide range of expertise. They really are a team where theyre always willing to lend each other a hand and share their knowledge with one another. I would recommend Black Wolf to anyone looking for a shop to handle their project car needs or a great team to always be learning from each other!
Craftsmen that takes pride in their work. They will explain in detail what is being done and make recommendations geared at improving improving the project without corresponding cost increase.
I decided to wait a week or so before writing my review to avoid writing it with too much emotion. Below outlines my experience with Black Wolf Auto in Woodbridge, VA.After doing some online research I came across this company’s website and it displayed some pretty great reviews so I decided to give them a call. When I first called I spoke with a person that I later came to realize was not the owner of the company but they still offered to give me an unseen estimate for my vehicle. I explained my situation completely and was given an estimate (price range) and based on the information I gave it sounded good so I decided to have my car towed with all my parts to the shop by the shops tow truck on a Friday. I spoke with the owner of the shop the day they picked up my vehicle and he told me that my project looked pretty straight forward and that they did this type of engine install all the time. I was then told I would be contacted the following Wednesday with an estimate.Three weeks later, after not hearing much of anything from the shop I decided to email the owner to ask about the status of my job. The owner then told me to come in to review the estimate and I was blown away by the cost involved. Sticker-shocked would be a better description to use as the price range given me up front was nowhere near the final estimate given (3xs as much actually!!!) and since this was supposed to be such a “regular install” I couldn’t understand where this price was coming from.I produced a 95% turnkey engine which basically just had to be dropped in and plumbed from what I gathered from other “gear heads” at classic car cruise ins. His price is his price if indeed unseen items came up that weren’t anticipated however what really set me off was that I had to pay for his “Research” on my vehicle. I was under the assumption a shop owner that boasts of 30 plus years in the business would be able to diagnosis my project fairly quickly being it’s a “regular install”. I ended up paying and when I asked if I could receive any specific part numbers I was told that none existed. Ok. So I paid x amount of dollars for this “research” and nothing can be given to me except for a list that tells me what is missing, no part numbers, nothing. What that money actually went to I have no clue.I guess what ruined the whole experience for me overall was the price estimate I received over the phone, had I been quoted something in line with what I finally was quoted I would of never even continued business with the establishment. When I called initially whomever I spoke to did have a good suggestion, said I could have a shop employee come to my house to pretty much let me know what was needed for a fee. In the long run that would have been ideal considering how everything else went down. I also was not aware a fee would be charged for researching what needed to be done to my vehicle. Some of the positives of the shop: The owner seems very well spoken and his staff is polite. He seemed to be very thorough with the estimate but then again I wasn’t sure if he wasn’t just trying to push the price even higher. In all, considering I didn’t get any actual work done to my hot rod, I can’t really recommend or not recommend the quality of actual work they do. Would I use him again? Probably not but if I were to I definitely would make sure everything is ironed out beforehand so there are no surprises later. Overall, my classic car pretty much got an expensive field trip and sleepover for a month at his shop. I am out $500 and have nothing to show for it.
Awesome place.... great people
