I was headed through town on my way back to Kentucky from Cadillac and the ac belt broke on my Yukon. Im a personal technician so I always carry tools with me, so all I needed was parts. I had the best experience at the Advance Auto parts store on Carpenter rd. My check engine came on and Mike came out and hooked my car up to check out the problem. I know nothing about cars and he took the time and was able to tell me what I needed and put my mind at ease. I will go there again for sure and I really appreciate his time and expertise.

So this place has good parts selection, but I dont have any desire to go here anymore. Last time I was in an employee was ranting about carrying a gun. He told a story about how a woman touched him on the shoulder in a parking lot to ask why he thought he needed it. He proudly declared that it was for people touching him like she did. So this person is looking to shoot someone if they touch him. Id avoid this store. Theres plenty of other options in the area.

I love Advance Auto Parts but this one is my favorite! The employees are courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. I used to be a jet engine mechanic in the Air Force so I maintain my car myself. I always rely on Advance Auto Parts to have just what I need.

I was giving a ride to a stranger who’s car broke down on the side of the road. Brought the stranger to this store; he goes in, comes out, and the manager then follows him and says you forgot your old break pads. The stranger I gave a ride to says, “you can throw them away, thanks.” The manager replies, “I’m not a dumpster and then THROWS the brake pads at my truck. Mind you, I was just trying to be nice and help this stranger out. Why throw metal brake pads at my truck? I don’t drive Uber or Lyft but in these times it’s moronic to throw something at a car because you were mad at the passenger.This is a trashy store with trashy management. Pick you who do business with, and do not pick this store, because they are not positive influences within our community.

Mike was super helpful when i was looking for parts. The parts i ordered were wrong and he was cool about finding the right 1s.

The prices are pretty competitive and they seem to have the parts I need in stock.

The young gentleman that helped me was very patient and helpful. I went in for brake pads. He immediately greeted me before I even said anything and let me know he needed a minute before he could help me. He helped me figure out the exact model of my car with ease, and thoroughly explained to me the options if the products/prices, and the differences between them.

The one guy who waited on me tried to sell me the wrong bulb. When i explained well can you come to see the attachment bulb i need, he didnt want to come out to the car. I had to insist he please look at the bulb i need. Then he proceed to tell me i was wrong, big mistake, i am never wrong. (Well, seldom i am never wrong) but it was what the dash light said, anyhow he found the right bulb, and it was 10.00!! For a bulb? Overpriced. But i needed it.Anyhow, i dont think I will go here again. The staff seem less caring then to my regular store i go to.

My thanks to Mike DeGroot for excellent service, friendly attitude and hands on approach.I had to replace a battery on my Volvo XC70 T6 2014.On the same day Ive tried 3 different places: Sesi Volvo, Arbor Motion and Belle Tire. No one could do it the same day and estimated ca. $100 for the installation. As I knew no other Auto Part store, but the Advance Auto offer the battery installation, and its free. So, Ive stoped at the Carpenter store and, likely, got to Mike. Volvos battery installation is somewhat tricky and Mike was somewhat reluctant from the beginning.But he quickly realized how to do it and replaced the battery. He also advised me on the best battery. The total cost was less than any other places Ive checked.Certainly 5 stars for the service and product.Vladimir

They are great if you have a lot of questions or need a hard to find part…NOT if you are trying to get something you could get a Meijer and want to get in and out. I spent 5 minutes in line with only 1 person in Front of me before giving up.

I stopped in to get new windshield wipers and was greeted and assisted as soon as I walked in the door. They were out of stock of one of the wipers I wanted but offered me a better replacement for the same price! He also offered to install them on my car and did a great job. It was very quick and the customer service was amazing! I will go back for all of my windshield wiper needs.

The folks here are very helpful. Returns are easy with no questions asked. They will find everything for you a small store feeling that is very helpful. They have enough clerks so virtually no waiting. Online app will give you discounts.. Then just arrive and pick it up.

Couldnt have been happier. I was having issues with my car starting, and Jerry explained possible issues not only with my battery, but also with my alternator. He suggested trying to charge the battery in store (free) along with the battery test he did initially. He was willing to take and out then install the new battery with no complaints. Very grateful for Jerrys help! Would recommend this place to anyone. Ill certainly be back if I have anymore issues.

I went in to the store to purchase a light for my car with the part number in hand. An employee insisted I did not have the correct bulb number and made snide remarks about how I didnt know what I needed and was very patronizing. After returning the next day to buy the correct bulb that I had originally gone to the store for and returning the wrong bulb the employee insisted I should buy, they were of little help. They offered to let me rent a tool kit for $35.00 to change the bulb because they offered no support even after having to return because of their employees terrible assistance. I do not recommend shopping at this store, especially if you are a female.

My 17 year old, high school auto student went there because he wanted to change my oil in my truck for his first time. Someone there took advantage of him by telling him that the only oil that he could use was super expensive high synthetic oil. Way to go.

Went in looking to buy a new battery and they were very knowledgeable and friendly, but that wasnt even what stood out. They were willing to change out my battery for free for me, and it turned out my car needed something else, actually. So they helped me call a towing company and then gave me a ride home. This was all with about an hour before closing. Will definitely come there again!

I went in thinking that I need a new battery. Jerry (manager I think) checked my old battery and told me that it needed to be charged for the test to really work so he helped me get it out of my car and charged it for me for 4 hours. He also let me leave my car parked there and go to work while this charges. He tested it again after the charge and it was good. he helped me reinstall it and was super nice to me the whole time. Usually Id go into other auto stores or even AAP branches and pay a lot and not get treated very nicely. This time I paid nothing and was treated in the best way possible. Thanks Jerry. You rock!

Not only did the gentleman that helped me do this, but he went out and did it while I was still shopping, before I had even paid! I was very impressed. I was greeted upon entry by several different employees, and theyre all here to help me. They did not force the most expensive things on me, which I honestly probably would have got four.I had just accidentally snapped off both of my wiper blades, and the guy who was helping me was very nice and that he helped me very quickly replace the broken ones on my windshield.My whole experience was great, except they didnt have the brand in my size. That wasnt too surprising since no other stores seem to have it either

Just left the store, went in and asked for help finding female and male crimp connectors.1. I asked for help nicely. They said yeah came over and just said all of them looked the same, left and then continued to say to another customer “they asked for wire connectors but I gave up and told them it was somewhere on that wall”It wasn’t.Is that not their job? To HELP customers??2. As I was leaving I heard them saying “yeah I couldn’t help them I don’t speak Spanish” “no hablo español”We were the only Latinos in the store. We speak fluent English. I was born in Ann Arbor. We asked NICELY for help.Very dissatisfied and disappointed. Never expected that poor customer service from this store.

Really good online shopping discounts and availability of most of the parts needed for routine maintenance. Good place to recycle used engine oil. You cant leave empty containers there though and have to carry them back home to dispose them off. During the last one year, I have had to make several trips to drop used oil as the used oil container was full :-(

AC hasnt worked in my truck for years. Figured I would just give a recharge a try and hope there are no leaks. Wasnt really sure what I was doing, so my guy Key got me all set. Found me the can I needed with the hose on it. He went out and helped me charge it up real quick and boom, AC working. Really happy. True test will be if its still cold in a week. Either way, A+ service from Key. Really appreciated his help.

Another location of chain store for most / all automobile related parts, tires and accessories. Located next to Home Depot on carpenter road with exclusive entry / exit. Associates are friendly and helpful. Prices seem to be slightly higher compared to some similar brands. Ample parking, access is from southbound carpenter road.

Store was clean and looked good, configuration of aisles was slightly confusing which is an issue from store to store for Advance. Customer service was great. Though it took a few extra minutes for the associate to locate my customer information in their system due to their corporates lack of attention to company wide system access issues that have gone on for years now.

The lady who stood out in the freezing wind in Ann Arbor, MI. trying to get that stupid battery out. She is AMAZING! She had the patience of a Saint and determination. And she won. I wish I would have looked at her name. She works at Advance Auto on Stadium. I gave her a huge hug!!

Buyer beware if you come to purchase new low beam bulbs. The low beams burned out on my vehicle, so I purchased a 2-pack of bulbs to replace myself. Easy enough, right? After installing (following all appropriate protocols), neither bulb was working, so I suspected a fuse or wiring issue. I just spent $150 at my local dealship only to find out that both bulbs I purchased were defective. What should have been a $30 fix has turned into a giant headache. Will not be purchasing parts from this store again!

I ordered a battery online, ask for free installiation when picked up. The cashier refused to do so, reason is there is a line. Yes, there is another customer behind me, but also there are at least 2 cashiers. The FREE BATTERY INSTALLIATION is on their website and also on the wall of their store! How ironical it is! This will be my last visit of this store!

Great service, but the prices arent comparable. Its ok, but not the best deal.

I have there twice for picking up online orders. The first time, the order was not ready even the next day. The cashier need to find the item on shelf and in the back. The second time I went there, there was only one person at the counter and there were phone orders coming in continuously. Finally I got my items after the third phone call.

The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this location over any other auto parts store in the Ann Arbor area. They are sincere and go above and beyond to try to help.

There are a lot of products here, but the guy at the counter acted like he knew a lot but ended up not really knowing what he was talking about. He also didnt assist us in any way. We obviously looked clueless and he just stood at the front doing absolutely nothing. Overall, if you know what you want, yes come here and get it, but if you need help, go read a forum because they wont really be of any assistance here.

Its great when your the only person in the store. The cashier/attendants are extremely helpful. But there are time when the store gets busy and then customer service starts to stray. i usually go toward the end of the day.

I came in for a battery/alternator test and found out that both were bad. I cannot thank Amanda (gosh I hope I remembered her name, if not I am sorry), and Zach for going above and beyond to help me out. They helped me find the best deals and leant me some tools so that I could install the new alternator in the parking lot. They also allowed me to use those tools for a few minutes after closing time. It may or may not have taken much on their part, but it sure did mean a lot to me. Thank you both!

Key, an employee of the Advance Auto on carpenter road in Ypsilanti, just facilitated one of the all time greatest customer service experiences I have experienced to date. My car had absolutely zero air conditioning for years and Key was more than happy to tackle this problem for me. He not only performed a free screening inspection, but also recommended and installed a great frown product. He then topped it off by going out of his way to spray sealant on my corroding battery electrode. Keys dedication to excellent and professional customer service made a lasting impression on me, but it was his genuine benevolence and eagerness to help me that made this experience one that I will always remember. This was a great example of how one exceptional employee earned his company a new lifelong customer. Thank you once again, Key. I sincerely appreciate your service.

Nice people, good for new batteries as they will put it in for free. If they dont have the part you need, you should probably shop around elsewhere. ORiley was able to find my part no problems whereas Advance had some issues finding my somewhat rare part.

Had a bad experience with the battery install. They didnt know how to do it, didnt even attempt to read a repair manual or watch a YouTube video, and instead broke my battery monitor sensor and bent the pins on the connector, and also popped the clip out of the battery holding tray which is a PITA to get back in. And then said it wasnt their fault they broke the part and wouldnt give me a discount. If they had just taken the time to learn how to do it right it wouldnt have happened. Guy seemed in a very bad mood and in a huge hurry to get it done, when Im paying $160 to get it done right not done the quick and dirty way.

Staff is 50/50. You are either gonna get someone what is helpful, or you are gonna be pulling teeth ti get them to know what part you actually want. Only go here if you know what you are doing.
