I received the email that my books were fulfilled and ready for pickup and when I got there only one book was there. I had to go back 2 days later to get my second book. The emails are not completely helpful but I did get my books. I would call ahead to be sure that your complete order is ready for pick-up before driving here. The staff were friendly and empathic.
Went downhill once it was taken over by a corporate store.
Placed my order on the 17th for my books.. per the bookstore, a bunch of orders got canceled on their end but I wasnt aware until a few days later. Placed my order AGAIN on the 23rd and STILL DONT HAVE MY BOOKS. Ive missed assignments already and have to take time off work a second time just to pick them up whenever they show up. I understand things are different but this is ridiculous..
Disrespectful and unhelpful staff, will take no effort to solve problems. Happy to take your money and then call the book out of stock which results in 12 more problems all of which they will take no effort to resolve. I paid good money for these courses and the bookstore takes no effort to respect that.

I always have a great experience at this bookstore and I often have a better experience at this location than I do at others!When something doesnt make sense or I dont understand a policy, they graciously explain it to me when I ask.The floor staff are very knowledgable and helpful, and the cashiers at the front give me any information I need about returning or buying back books.When it comes to renting books, no matter how many times I have rented, they explain the renting process and policy to me so I know under what conditions I would or would not be charged additional fees.
People there were very helpful. Even walked me to where I needed to be. After I got lost inside. Lol
Save yourself some trouble from going here. Although some of the staff is really helpful and nice, most of them are rude and disrespectful. Textbook prices are high, buyback prices are horrible, and in the end all they want is your money. Textbook Outlet across the street has helped me and are wonderful when it comes to staff, buying, and rentals, and their awesome prices! Or just order them online and save yourself half the cost!

I love the people at the bookstore. They are helpful, nice, and helped me to get an out of stock text book that I had to have for a class very quickly.Also worth noting in my personal opinion... they are one of the few places in the Ankeny/Des Moines area that carry my Awake brand of caffeinated candy bars!Even without the candy bars....of course, five stars.
The staff was completely rude and not helpful AT ALL when there was an issue with their payment system. I was treated so poorly that I ended up crying. The older gal that works there, I think her name was Susan(??) was awful and would not listen to a thing I said. Who I assume was the manager, was extremely rude as well. However as soon as I had to get my mother on the phone to pay for a book, because they had $132.16 of mine for a book that they would not give me - John was extremely polite. Extremely disappointed as I have given DMACC thousands of dollars this year. Need some better customer service training for their employees.
Always clean and organized. Friendly staff. A bit pricey when comes to routine office supply items.

Horrible! Had an employee give me MAJOR attitude to the point I felt uncomfortable. I NEVER write reviews or complain about employees to their employer but my experience was so bad I was compelled to write this review. After talking to the woman’s superior about her attitude problem, he not only DIDNT apologize on behalf of his employees, but was rude to me also! Did not care one bit about how the other woman treated me! No wonder more people shop at textbook outlet down the road!
Online ordering is the way to go! They had my stuff ready to go and I would have been in and out if I didnt need other supplies which I could have ordered online too if I was thinkingI do wish they would reconsider their prices. Its seems pretty obvious theyre charging students 3-4 times the amount at other stores because they know the students using their financial aid for payment will spend the higher amount out of necessity to get the school supplies before receiving refunds. It just seems a little messed up in my opinion but Im sure theyre making a killing charging $10 for notebooks and pencils. Supply and demand as a reason for inflation? Id say so.
They treat you like a thief and force you to be escorted through the books, then the escorts just try to sell you extra books you dont need. The staff is hostile and the prices arent competitive.

If you want to join DMACC college in Ankeny, this place has a lot of stuff and books for your education. This location located in building 5 in Ankeny Iowa. Very great place, and miscelaneous items, including computers.
I ordered my books online to save me time since I ride the bus to DMACC Ankeny campus and man was I wrong for ordering them online. I walked in and told the lady I needed to “pickup” my books and I am not sure how that got lost in translation meaning I purchased them online and need to actually pick them up like the email says. So she asks Gene to help me find my books now I am beginning to get irritated, so I told her I ordered them online then she rudely says oh then you have to pick them up back there and doesn’t even say where that is just points like I am an old hound dog suppose to pick up the scent. So I follow Gene who mumbles something that I couldn’t understand then all of the sudden he can speak clearly and says he needs a confirmation number which made no sense because I never received a confirmation number just an order number and most of us know those numbers are usually 2 different numbers. I get on my phone go to my dmacc email and I am looking for the order number and I am having trouble as the bookstore sends a lot of emails when you order online, at this point he starts to get impatient like I am holding him up from doing something important. Finally I show it to him, he reads the numbers off, and goes to get what I thought would be 2 packages instead he brings one package back and says here you go, I look at him like the Rock use to look at Michael Cole and explain to him I have these 4 other books that are ready for pick up too. Finally after some back and forth he goes to the back and magically brings out the other package and then says I must have not looked hard enough. Thankfully I know how many books I was to have and which books they were or I would have been screwed.
This is a nice store and they have what you need for school supplies.

Ive rented books from this bookstore every term. Ive made 4 orders in the last 2 years and have never once not had an issue. Charged twice multiple times for books. Been charged full value for a book that I returned and they claimed they didnt have in their inventory, in which they treated me as a fraud. Customer service is awful.
If your rental is 1 day late they will charge 80 dollars.... Thats literally criminal. Also I asked for a used copy of a book and was told they didnt have any, while online it said they did. I checked on the shelf myself and it was in plain sight.
Clean bookstore. General confusion among employees about what books you need. This happens everytime I go to the bookstore. If you know what you need and it isnt an online code, its best to get the item somewhere else.

Sophmore here,dont ever buy books at the dmacc store.For what one of my books (almost $200) cost$122 FOR ALL OF THEM on amazon.And also their moblie site didnt display all the books that I needed (thank god I checked to make sure on my laptop..)HORRIBLE customer service when I had online ordering issues! I was on the phone for 35+ minutes. Do yourself a favor and just order on amazon...PLEASE!
