I am no longer a DMACC student after the end of June. But I will tell you this if you want a great price, nice staff member to help you select your materials for your classes, and/or a simple reminders to turn in rented books this is the place for you! Thank you, for all the years that you helped me find books I need for my courses! You have a beautiful and wonderful staff! I appreciate all the help that you have delivered throughout the years!

The owner is so freaking nice.. it’s almost unreal. He’s always there helping out the people working, and making sure he’s helping out customers. It’s great and affordable and you can even get your textbooks BEFORE your student loans come in WITHOUT ANY COST. Just a written note saying you’ll pay when you get your loans. AND the books are WAYYYY cheaper than buying from campus.

I’ve always used Textbook Outlet for my DMACC books and they’re cheap, but it was unfortunate to see no social distancing or mask usage when I went to return my books today.

Absolutely love this place and its my go-to for all my textbook needs. Very affordable and lenient. Staff is wonderful and helpful. Even on their busy days, you can get in and out quickly and satisfied. Definitely would recommend this place, especially if youre attending Ankeny DMACC. Not only is it just across the street, but itll also save you the horrible experience at their bookstore.

Great place, A1 Experience. The guys who worked there were kind, respectful, and understood that were college kids, you dont have to preach to us. Very good place to go when DMACC puts their prices on books higher and their people managing the bookstore arent as quality.

I had saved my MBA books from my 2006 graduating class and took them to this place hoping to get a few pennies on the dollar. Unfortunately, they werent even worth that. The employee was gracious and treated me with respect and let me down as easily as he could. However, they also supplied an alternative for me by running a donation service. They send these old texts to schools that teach English as a second language. I felt much better that at least it didnt end up in a burn barrel. A note to students, return your books as soon as your able to max out your return of investment.

I went here around Christmas break and I didnt realize they were going to be closing soon. I was afraid they woild be close by the time I got there so I called ahead. They were so understanding and I asked them of they could stay up a few more minutes. Not only did they do that for me but they also had my book ready for me when i got there.

I used to love going to the Textbook Outlet to get my books, in fact Ive been a loyal customer for 2 years now. The experience that I had today, totally changed my mind about the place. Like Ive said, Ive rented all of my textbooks from here, never once turning them in late or damaging a book. Today I went to turn my books in early, so I wouldnt forget to turn them in before the due date. After I turned my books in, I was made aware that as a class we had one last assignment due, which we needed our book for. I called them asking if there was any way I would be able to come back in and get my book for one more day, even though the books werent even due yet so that shouldnt have been an issue. The lady I talked to asked what book it was and I told her it was for one of my business classes. After a minute of looking, she tells me she only has record of me renting a math and speech book. Both of those books were from the previous semester, and she said she didnt have records of me having any other textbooks rented. I explained to her that this semester I had rented three books. She never told me if she ended up finding those on file or not, but told me I could come back in and get it. I go in that night to pick it up and she tells me I owe $5 to get the book back for the night. I explain to her that the book wasnt due until the next night so I shouldnt have to pay anything. She didnt even explain herself, just told me another guy would help me. The other guy comes over and tells me I owe $5 and I tell him that doesnt make sense as I wasnt asking to keep the book past its due date. The man still makes me pay the extra $5 to get my book back, and then as we are leaving starts laughing and my boyfriend turned around and asked what he was laughing at and that it wasnt funny that he just made us pay $5 for a book that I had already payed the full rental fee for. The guy just continued to laugh as we are walking out. What type of customer service is laughing at a customer as theyre walking out after being ripped off? They definitely just lost a loyal customer, and I will definitely be spreading the word on this. Ive had friends who have turned their books in way overdue, and they didnt get charged extra. But I get charged for getting my book back that wasnt even due yet? Apparently I shouldnt try to turn my books in on time? This isnt the first issue Ive had with them either. Somehow every year when I go in to price my books the price is way cheaper than what they actually end up charging me. They rip people off. Ill definitely be buying my books elsewhere from now on.

Wrong books 3 times. Went in to buy a book from here, when I got home I double checked that it was the right one. It wasnt. Thank goodness I checked because if I had opened the packaging or I wouldve been out that money. They were nice about getting me the book I actually needed. But I shouldnt have to run across town to get a different book. That was this summer, today I went to get books for this fall and the lady brought up a couple of books for one of my classes, but I mentioned that online it said I was required to have 7 (yes 7) books for that class. She double checked and saw that the books she was about to sell me werent even the required books. So AGAIN they didnt do their job correctly. Theyre nice people and get the job done for the most put, but it shouldnt be this hard.Update: they sold me the wrong chemistry book and when I brought it back in for the right one he acted like I was completely wrong when the first thing I told him was the ISBN, author, and copyright year were all different then the book I actually needed. Sure enough. I was right. He settled on taking my phone number and name.
