Highly recommended. I received a basic tune up and new brake pads. Ryan advised not to bother replacing some other parts of the bike yet, and explained his reasoning. Other bike shops would have happily charged (...I initially got an estimate elsewhere). Very professional and friendly bike mechanics; I would recommend if you are looking for unbiased bike advice. They will also happily explain basics of bike maintenance, which I appreciated. Not to mention, my bike (20+ yrs old) feels like new after the tune up! They care about doing a good job and about the customer having a positive experience.
I highly recommend stopping by here if you own or want to buy a bike. The staff is amazing, super friendly and they always try to take the time to help you with the best solutions and really teach you about your bike. They have the best prices around and they also sell some used parts which is fun to go through if you need any accessories. I had wanted to try out a different bike seat style and they had a box of used seats in different styles in good condition for a cheap. This place is really a hidden gem. And despite the name they dont sell just used bikes but also sell new bikes, have great staff, services and parts.
I don’t normally write reviews but this place is AMAZING. I went to a couple of bike shops in Boston which were all disappointing but this place really blew me away. I got a beautiful new bike from here and Ryan went above and beyond setting it up for me. Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable. I have been back twice for tune ups and each time I go Ryan takes the time to make sure I have all my bike needs taken care of. I always learn so much when I’m there and appreciate their patience, attention to detail, and down to earth attitude. Favorite bike shop in town hands down. If you need a bike or a tune up go here!!!
I have visited a few bike shops in the area and this is definitely the one to come to!! Spiro and Ryan who helped me during both my visits gave me wonderful advice and recommendations. They are passionate and wonderful people who give very knowledgeable advice about bikes. They have both gone extremely above and beyond to answer any questions I had, which made me feel more confident and safe walking out with my bike as someone who has not rode in a long time. Definitely will return for any future tune-ups or parts. If you haven’t given this shop a try, don’t hesitate!!
One of the best!! Amazing service, people and deals. The folks here are really dedicated to helping you get a good ride, whether it’s a new bike, small fix or giving advice/pointing you in the right direction if that’s what you need. In my experience some bike shops feel intimidating, but not this one! You just have to walk through an antique store to get to it. These guys are also great with email! I emailed them about getting a wheel replaced, and they responded within 5 minutes, and then the next day within an hour of waiting (better than a week!) I got my wheel! When none of the other bike shops in the area could help, these guys could do it! All while being around $100 less than what the other shops said. 10/10 would recommend!
This is just an awesome bike shop. I bought one of their second hand bikes 3 years ago, and have used it as a daily commuter -- its still going strong today. Spiros and Ryan are always extremely friendly and knowledgeable and I believe that they truly want the best for their customers.
A shop for every bike and every rider. Spiro and Ryan never fail to be knowledgeable, generous, and interested in helping each customer who walks in bike better, whether theyre training for a road race or in training wheels. They sell sleek new Retrospecs and recondition used bikes. My favorite part is that theyve also created a hub for bike part re-use rather than replacement. Theyve helped me discover multiple times that the exact part I needed was waiting for me in Cambridge so I didnt have to get it shipped from a warehouse in China.6 stars for helping me, my community, and my world.
A great place to buy a bike. I am completely new to bikes. Even though I choose my bike in the first few minutes, Ryan spent more than an hour explaining maintainance and other aspects of the bike. Most places just want to sale and they are done but this place is different. I would highly recommend this shop for anyone wanting to buy a bike, get it tuned, sale their bike. They are genuinely nice people
Helpful staff and good services. Went to get a bottle cage and saddle bag, came with the aforementioned things as well as a free quick bicycle fit!
Went to get a bike and it was great! Ryan was super helpful and very nice with explaining some basic concepts. Would go back again :)
Awesome shop. Ryan did a great job and quickly to fix my bike! def coming back!
I’ve been two or three times now and they are always super helpful. They guys who work their are very knowledgeable and very happy to give candid advice. I would highly recommend this shop for anyone, whether you’re looking for replacement parts, or a to buy a new or used bike. You may even learn a thing or two while you’re there!
These guys gave me a great bike, but more importantly they educated me in the vast difference in quality between different bike manufacturers. This place sells quality, well-built bicycles. Strongly recommend!
Very knowledgeable staff but kind of feel like I was taken advantage of.. bought a used bike and within 45 days of very moderate use the brake cable completely snapped and detached from the brake lever. Probably a good place to go if you know a lot about bikes but would not recommend to someone just looking for a bike to get from point A to B.Also paid 250+ for the bike so I assumed Id get more life out of it before running into problems
Amazing customer service. Was having a pretty rough day and (B)Ryan not only fixed my flat but gave me great tips on bike maintenance and was infectioisly positive. Highly recommend going here for your repairs
Hands-down the best bike shop in town. no-frills, efficient shop where the staff are down-to-earth and take pride in their work. well worth the walk across town after i moved away.
Came in the morning to ask for maintenance questions on my recently purchased used bicycle. Nick answered all my questions, provided very detailed practical advices, and made sure no stones were left unturned. Outstanding service! Will definitely come back in the future!
Excellent, friendly and straightforward bike service. The team there is always willing to help out with bikes.
Im not a big review person, but this place is amazing! They had a replacement for the broken shifter of my old second-hand bike, which I couldnt find anywhere else (neither on Ebay!). Besides they adjusted the brakes too. They just wanted to make sure that everything of my bike is perfect! Super helpful shop!
I havent actually bought a bike yet, but had a great experience with these guys. Especially with so much demand for affordable bikes these days. They had used road bikes in my size for $250-$275 and offered new bikes for around $325 and up quite a bit from there. They offer test drives around the neighborhood and 30 day warrantee on the used bikes. Cool spot in the downstairs of the antique show.
I had such a wonderful experience picking out a used bike at Cambridge Used Bikes this week! Nick helped me figure my exact, ideal frame size and let me test out a handful of new and used bikes until I found the best one for me!My new-ish Trek Verve was stolen off Comm Ave a few days earlier, so I was really eager to replace it as quickly as I could with something more affordable, but just as reliable. I considered purchasing a new commuter bike from another bike shop nearby, but was really hesitant because of the cost AND amount of wait-time it would take, because of inventory shortages. Ultimately, making the trip over to Cambridge Used Bikes was absolutely the right call! I biked about five miles right home afterwards with a new (used) bike that Nick helped me pick out (which was less than half the cost of replacing my Trek) and it was SO comfortable!Nick also helped me pick out a used back rack and bottle holster, as well as new lights and an extra U-lock (I’ll be using two of those from now on!!). While I hung around as Nick installed all the accessories, each of the employees shared so much helpful information about bike safety, security, and maintenance. I left feeling really confident with my purchase and SO thankful to have a reliable way to get around the city again.
A part of my derailer came off while I was biking towards Somerville. I did a quick google for a local shop and they were 5 minutes away. The guys where friendly and professional and helped me right away and got me back on the road within 20 min.The vibe I got is that the staff here are really into and care about bikes. They gave me more maintenance tips to keep my bike going for a long time. Much appreciated...thank you!
Great bike shop with friendly, knowledgeable staff. These guys know their stuff, and theyre always happy to help. Cant recommend enough!
The team was so awesome, fixed my wheel to frame interference wicked fast and even tightened by brake handles. Were super friendly and willing to answer all my questions!
The guys here are awesome and extremely knowledgable. I bought a bike off Craigslist and bring it in for maintenance all the time. I always learn something new from them. It’s a carbon fiber bike and they’re even careful with the way they they put it in the stand. They also have a large variety of used parts, which is very nice for replacing old brake calipers or pedals, etc.
Awesome shop - we ended up buying a used bike and a small handful of parts/accessories. The guys there were extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely planning to return for future maintenance and parts needs!
(2 months later) Called today and got a recorded message. When I hung up and considered my next move, I received a text from them apologizing for missing my call and to call back. How great is that!? So I swung by and they immediately addressed my minor repair. And while I was there, I was able to schedule a tune-up for next week. Another great experience.I needed a flat fixed. The tech was able to help me out on the spot. He was very courteous and explained what additional services I could use, but no pressure! And a very cool building as well :-)
Great shop, hard to find. But once you do youll be coming back whenever you need quality work done at very reasonable rates or advice on purchases. A hidden gem!
I brought in an old Raleigh Sport that didn’t look very sporty. Ryan worked his magic, sourcing specialized parts and investing his time to bring a 1968 special back. He delivered beyond my expectations, even thinking to take photos of the transformation. The bike rides like a dream, and I couldn’t be happier. Customers for life!
Very thoughtful, thorough service and great selection of bikes and gear. Ryan helped guide me through the whole process of choosing a bike and understanding how to care for it, going above and beyond to make sure I felt great about my purchase and was ready to ride. Highly recommend!
Without much knowledge of the proper way to tune a bike, I managed to “assemble” a Royce Union mountain bike and attempted to take it for a spin. I ended up bending two links in the chain, and the bike was unrideable. I brought it to Ryan and Spiros, who are incredibly friendly and welcoming, for a new chain and tune-up, and they did a tremendous job. In addition to replacing the chain without a labor charge and tuning up the odds and ends (tightening up the brakes, truing the tires, etc) for a very reasonable price, of their own volition, they they kindly raised the stem so that the handle bars would sit in a position that was more comfortable for me. They also helped me register my bike with the bike index to help recover it in the event of theft. I cannot more highly recommend bringing your bike to these gentlemen.
Highly recommended! You get fast, reliable, competent and friendly help and advice if you have issues with your bike. I feel safe with my bike since I am living close to the place. They also have a selection of useful accessories in store, and offer nice bikes to buy. And the prices are extremely fair. They often even didnt charge me for smaller tricks and fixes.
When I came in, I had never owned a bicycle and knew next to nothing about how to evaluate a used one. Ryan was incredibly helpful in matching me with a good bike and even made adjustments to ensure i was sitting comfortably on it (I was able to test ride it after each adjustment). After I made my purchase, he helped collect serial numbers/pictures for insurance purposes. He also provided suggestions on which helmet/lock I should go for. Its pretty clear that the people who work there love what they do and are genuinely interested in finding the right bike for each customer. I was never upsold or pressured into buying something i wasnt sure of and found the whole experience completely un-intimidating and really fun.I really could not have asked for a better bike. Its sturdy, comfortable, easy to handle, and has a unique look. It also came with a thirty day warranty -- this has been invaluable as I didnt really know what additional adjustments to ask for up front. I was able to later use this warranty to install a longer fender and replace the bike light batteries.Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. I feel like Ive learned a lot about bike ownership from the people there. I felt that their advice really helped me save a lot of money without compromising on safety.
I had to give this small business a shout-out. Ive been coming to this place for 3-4 years now and both the staff and service have been great. Finding the shop was tricky at first-- its located in the basement of an antique shop which is pretty cool. They seem honest, unpretentious and very knowledgeable. Prices for parts are affordable for the average person and most importantly I never leave that shop feeling like Ive been robbed. Best bike shop in the Cambridge area hands down. Also Shout out to my guy Ryan! Easy going and caring bike nerd.
Very impressed with the service! Ryan and Spiro were so helpful, knowledgable, as well as clearly passionate about what they do. They spent a couple hours reviewing a new Ravenel - Bilda Bike that was available, making the adjustments and helping me choose the proper gear to go along with the bike. I was very grateful for their help! I couldnt recommend this place more!
These guys are awesome. Spiros specifically is so friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer whatever questions you have. I recently started biking to and from work (couple miles each way) and wanted a good starter bike with a few bells and whistles (internal-facing gear, fenders to protect against splash etc). Spiros provided so much good info, helpful tips, recommendations, I ended up buying a 3-speed Pure City from them that has been perfect. Recently went back to get chain tightened, they didnt even charge me! Definitely going to buy my second bike from them soon when Im ready to upgrade...great people.
I needed an affordable bicycle for commuting and some casual use. I stopped by Cambridge Used Bicycles to see if they had anything in stock. Ryan was very friendly and passionate about the bicycle I was interested in, giving a few fun facts and recommendations. He made me appreciate the history of the bike and who might have used it in the past. I felt confident in the purchase. I highly recommend this shop.
I went there for assembly of my bike. They finished the task before the time I was given and informed me. They charged me fairly and even replaced one of my (faulty) brakes without charging for it.Everyone (Ryan & other guys, sorry I dont recall their names) is really helpful and passionate about their work. They really care about biking community in general. They give you lot of biking advice on how to bike safely around the area.Highly recommend going there for any of your cycling/biking repairs or purchases. Its a small shop with a big heart. Also, its quite hard to find the place if you go there for the first time. Its in the basement of Cambridge Antique Market if youre searching for it. Entrance is through Cambridge Antique Market.
Highly recommend this place. Super friendly and highly skilled staff. Did a full tune up with several repairs in less than 3 days!
This was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had! As soon as I walked in the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and made me feel so good about my purchase. I left feeling extremely happy with my new bike! Would highly recommend. If you’re looking for a new bike, definitely go here.
This place (and Spiros especially) is incredible for bike fixes. In the past few weeks they got my back in my bike faster and for less money then I could have gotten anywhere else.1) I was doing a training ride a few days before a bike tour when I ripped my pedal out of the crank, completely destroying the cranks threads.I brought it to several area bike shops and they said it would require a new crank set (crank/chain ring combo), bottom bracket, and then to match wear, ideally a new cassette and chain. It would cost $200 - $300 and take over a week.I went to Cambridge Used Bicycles to rent a bike instead, and on a whim I showed them my bike. Spiros listened to my story, checked out my bike, and offered to re-thread the crank that day, despite being backed up with work. It worked perfectly, I had my bike for the tour, and the repair only cost $45.2) A mishap with my bike left the front wheel completely out of true. Due to my recent good experience, I went back to Cambridge Used Bicycles. They were two weeks behind schedule and were only taking appointments for repairs. Once again, Spiros took pity on me, and trued my wheel on the spot. he also checked spoke tension and checked the bike for any other issues that might compromise my safety. Repair Cost $15.Thanks!
The chain of my bike snapped. The guys in the shop, (especially Jack??) were very helpful and fixed it quickly. I’m planning to buy a used bike soon and I’ll def go back as they thoroughly fix and check all the bikes before selling. Great service and products!
What a wonderful place. Walked in with multiple issues on a bike, walked out in great shape, with just the right replacement parts & adjustments. A really helpful, efficient, and kind team of people.
Got a bike delivered to my house; the customer service was excellent. The person who delivered the bike was extremely professional. A minor issue was that during my first test of the bike, the pedal came off, but the delivery person fixed it right on the spot, and even gave me some tools to maintain the bike free of charge after the fact. Again, really excellent experience and would highly recommend this shop.
Strongly recommend this shop. While needing a tune-up and few parts fixed on my bike I stumbled across Cambridge Used Bicycles. I found Ryan to be extremely helpful and knowledgable when assessing my bike. If youre looking for a fair prices and a quick turn around this is the shop. Ill be back!
I bought a bike from here about 2 years ago and had an amazing purchasing experience. 2 years later, I had a problem with the bike saddle. I took it back to them to see what they could do and they fixed it for me for free! It is clear that this shop loves what they do and are very customer focused.
Inexpensive, friendly, and instructive
Ryan helped me assemble my bike a few months ago and helped me again to realign my derailleur hanger after it got a bad bump! Always super friendly and helpful and extremely reasonable prices! I also got a great helmet with a handy back light here. This is my go-to bike shop!
Amazing bike shop and super friendly staff!
These guys know their stuff!!
Awesome shop for locals
Friendly service and good deals.
Bought 2 bikes from Cambridge and Spiro was a great help. Had some minor issues and Spiro was greatly helpful and customer service was amazing. Recommended to all my friends who would like to buy a bike to buy from you guys. You guys rock.
Stopped in for help/tools to fix my old road bike. Ryan gave me a tool for free and lots of helpful advice - very generous as I didn’t even buy my bike here. Will definitely be back if I can’t DIY any problem . What a great local store to support if anyone is looking for a bike or repairs !
Great bike, great service, great people !
Recently came here, on a friends recommendation, for a tuneup. Everyone in the shop is incredibly friendly, helpful, and takes the time to talk you through whatever you need. Only coming here for all my bike needs from now on!
--------Updated after owners response--------As you can see the ownership lack of professionalism by being defensive and calling my home a dump. Plus their lack of expertise is apparent considering my bikes sticker price was $700 back in 2015 before the added accessories. Its really sad but this establishment will not last long under its current management.--‐---------------------------------------------------------------Dont waste your time if youre trying to sell your bike here. Ive had my 2015 Trek Hybrid FX 7.2 for about 3 years and barely rode it. It was garage kept and not used for about 2 years. I figured it was time to sell it since I was no longer riding. It did need a tune up, air in the tires, and a new chain. Other than that as you can see in the picture the frame and other parts are in excellent condition. The bike and add-ons cost me around $850. Now Im a realist and knew after depreciation and newer models I wouldnt expect to get anything more than $300, but the salesman inspected it and said to me the most I can give you is $35. I thought he was joking with me, but he was serious and wouldnt budge on that price. I almost laughed in his face but instead just grabbed my bike and left. No wonder this place can afford to sell used bikes at low prices. Its because they rip innocent people off and give them pennies for their bikes in order to pocket themselves an excessive profit margin. Truly disappointing to see such businesses are allowed to operate in the Greater Boston Area.
Guys do your self the favor and only check out this gem!If you are in the market for a used or new bike this is your store! The service was not short of incredible! Ryan helped me pick out the perfect bike, he assembled the whole thing so quickly, he tested it out for me and re adjusted everything from the seats, the handles, the breaks, even my bell!!! He even went above and beyond by attaching my basket and lights too!He even took my picture next to my new beauty! This place is a must for purchasing or selling your bicycles!
I have never had such an amazing customer service in my life. Ryan spent two hours with me helping me to pick my first bike ever. He was very dedicated, showed me and encouraged me to try different bikes and made sure I walked out happy. He also made sure I had everything I needed for my new bike, and also showed me some basic maintenance. Price range is also really nice, they had lots of options. If you are thinking about buying a bike, this is the place to go
Super helpful! Very knowledgeable about bike parts. Great customer service. Very reasonable prices.
Friendly staff, and very helpful. Gave me good tips, and helped me with fixing my tire. They supposedly charge for service, but didnt ask me anything. The prices are fair, but not super cheap. If you ever need any bike-related service, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!
Best place to get all your bike needs- excellent service, really friendly and very reasonably priced. Spiros, Ryan and the team always go above and beyond. Cant recommend them enough!
Amazing service. They took the tire out and tied every single thing.Adjusted my sit and my handles and even offer me a bell for an amazing price. This people know what they are doing.Plus they take debit and credit cards which is amazing! They even told me if I have any problem with what they just fixed I just need to come and they will do everything to make me happy.Happy! Happy! Happy!Plus they did it so fast that I was shocked!Who doesn’t want to go and have things done in a boom!!Well!!! Meeeeee!!!So... just come and let the magic happen in your bike!Best service and better deals! You can resist to it?Come and have your own experience! And they have elevators they also tell you how long will take and you just can go through the Antique store if you want.I came right away when they told me and boom!Last touches were made!
Paint me purple and call me Sally, because this is the finest bicycle shopping experience, if not overall commerce experience in years. All the people in the bike shop are great, highly skilled and dedicated to helping you find the ideal bike. The prices are fair, the service is great, and their warranties are unbeatable (30 days returns and 90 day theft protection if I am correct). They also ensure you get this warranty by explicitly saying take a photo of this, because people lose the paper all the time!. That is service, and quality bikes. Just try to ignore the people on the first floor, they can be kind of grudgey... ha!
I cant say enough about this place! I went in with my son needing a bike big ebough to grow with him and walked away with his new used bike and was so happy I went back for a bike for my daughter again great service and we walked out with another great bike!
Everyone here is SUPER helpful and friendly. Would 100% recommend
Phenomenal buying experience. The team are extremely friendly! As a complete beginner to bikes I was a bit hesitant, but they were super generous with their time, explaining everything to me and helping me find the absolute perfect bike. Many of the bikes have been lovingly restored and there are some real vintage gems in there as well as more recent ones. I would thoroughly recommend this awesome little place!
Always super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly!
Like what they said on their website: Try everything to make your purchase experience great. They really DID IT! Its so hard to get a bike now, but they try to work with you and make the bike suitable for you.
I LOVE Cambridge Used Bicycles! I am a student and I had my back wheel stolen. Cambridge Used Bicycles fixed it up for less than half what another bike shop quoted me. The employees were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. My bike was even finished two days earlier than expected. This is now definitely my go-to bike shop in Boston!
Super helpful and friendly. Ryan sorted out a busted tire for my in no time at all and was super helpful answering all my questions. I will always go back for that great service
Super friendly and responsive service. The people there know their bikes and are especially good at fixing up older bike models. Definitely would recommend for the service and atmosphere (love that its in an antique store).
Could not recommend this place more! Went there a couple of times. Ryan and Nick and Jack are all very kind and helpful! Love the people there and their expertise!I am not a bike person and know very little about bikes. I bought a shaky bike from facebook marketplace without knowing how shaky it was. Ryan and Nick did me a GREAT favor to fix the problems! I appreciate them soooo much! BTW, it can be really risky and frustrating to buy bikes from fb marketplace now.Definitely recommend coming to this place!
Incredible service
Great place to buy a bike. Got a new single speed from this place and I love it!!
Service was phenomenal! I arrived at the end of the day, they were super busy with customers, but still took the time to talk to me about potential bikes, what I should be looking for in terms of fit/height, the different style and which bike would fit my lifestyle. It was awesome! I found a beautiful blue Trek commuter bike. They installed a different seat post for better fit, kick stand, my new bike lock holder, and basket holder. They even came outside and had me ride around the parking lot to see if the fit was good, and made further adjustments! It is clear how passionate they are about their job, it was really an inspiration! We need more people like this in the world! I cannot say enough good things!
Incredibly nice and friendly staff (Ryan is the man) - they definitely have your best interests in mind, especially for a novice bike owner. I’ll be heading back for any maintenance or projects in the future!
Stellar service. Tucked away under an antique store, but absolutely worth it. I don’t really know much about the inner workings of bicycles but Ryan detailed what was wrong with my bike so that I actually understood. No other bike shop has done that for me. It’s a little out of my way but I will absolutely go here again I i need to.
Had a really great experience as someone with little experience with bikes! Staff were patient, helpful and friendly.
Helpful folks got me back on the road when I popped a tire along the Charles. Parts are cheap and service is good. Would recommend to anyone in the area!
This place is AWESOME!! they helped me greatly with my headset! So nice and friendly! I would highly recommend this place’
Excellent fast service.
They dont have space or look fancy but after one visit, Ryan has taken 6 customers from the other big dominating bike shop around that I went to for 8 yrs because I thought I didnt have any other choice. Ryan is further away but worth the trek accross to east Cambridge. My 3 teenagers and their friends praise him for his patience, knowledge and award winning personality and that sums it all up!!
I am extremely happy with the customer service and helpful advice I received from Spiros and the other employees when looking for a bike at Cambridge Used Bicycles. I described what I was looking for, they directed me to a few options, and they waited patiently through my test riding and indecisiveness. When I went to pick up my bike it was close to closing time but from the way they acted, you would never know it was the end of the day - they installed fenders, assembled the accessories (u-lock, lights), and even provided some extra hands to help get my bike rack on to my car for the first time. I’ve been pleased with my purchase (Retrospect Mantra 7) and feel welcome to return the shop for future bike needs.
I went in not knowing anything about bikes and only having used them way back as a kid, and I came out with a beautiful Giant bike all tuned up and already test ridden a couple times. Ryan was patient and took about a total of 3 hours getting me through all the steps, having me do test rides around after every adjustment to make sure everything about the bike fit me. I will definitely visit this place again whenever I have questions or issues, which shouldnt be often because I feel like Ryan covered everything on my first visit anyway. If youre looking for a used bike, I suggest you drop by even if for a quick look. I can guarantee youll find something to your liking in there and I can vouch for their work ethic.
Nice people. Amazing service and expertise. Most reasonable prices in Boston. These guys work on/ sell everything from older commuters to brand new hyrbirds and road bikes.
I went in over lunch because my pedal broke on my ride in to work. They sold me perfectly fine used pedals and installed them. They were extraordinarily nice and friendly, they also threw some oil on my chain and replaced a missing nut just because they noticed it. Outstanding shop, will definitely go here again.
Love this place, I bought them my bike packed into a bag off a flight and they put it all back together and tuned it up wonderfully. Whenever I drop back in to get something fixed they (especially Ryan) are always friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable and they are happy to talk you through what they are doing so you can learn too.
I could not recommend Cambridge Used Bicycles (CUB) more!In the midst of the pandemic I decided to upgrade from using a blue bike share subscription to my first real commuter bike. I scoured Target, Walmart, Amazon, Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, etc., and called a TON of local bike shops in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville. CUB really stood out from the crowd.During my first call they helped me figure out the best bike sizes for my body (virtually) and then recommended bikes currently available that would fit my size, capabilities, and price range. They changed up the seat for a more comfortable option for me and happily answered my millions of questions. Then, they DELIVERED my bicycle right to my apartment! The delivery guy, Ryan, was awesome! He called ahead to let me know the logistics, and then he spent a bunch of time walking me through the basics of bike maintenance, gave me some tools to adjust the bike on my own, and even pointed out the bike tire inflation stations in my neighborhood. I would 110% use them again. My boyfriend (an avid biker) was also super impressed by how knowledgeable Ryan was and is planning to use them for his bike maintenance going forward!
Ryan was an excellent and patient employee who helped replace and add a few parts to my newly purchased vintage Trek (bones were found on Craigslist). Definitely recommend for both advice/labor and parts. Thanks!
These guys are incredible. Ive been to many bike shops before and its usually a bit of an unpleasant experience, . but here everyone is so friendly, generous with their time, and genuinely excited about bikes and helping you.
Went in looking for some bike grease. Ryan was super helpful and talked me through the different types of greases and lubrications. Everyone in there is super friendly every time I go in. Highly recommend.
Hands down, these guys are awesome!!I bought a used bike from them several months ago and they could not have been more friendly and helpful since then. My chain ended up breaking and they charged a very reasonable price for repairing it. Also, Ryan and Spiros are super chill and took the time to answer and explain my bike questions. If youre in the market for a bike or need yours serviced, I definitely recommend them!
This charming place recently changed name and ownership but, the substance remains the same! I miss the previous owner but really like the current one, too! It is my favorite bicycle store all over Cambridge, Somerville and... yes, the Boston area! Staff is friendly and, most important, really knowledgeable. Price of service is discussed beforehand so you wont find any surprises. Most of the bicycle sold here are vintage - remember, its located inside the Cambridge Antique Market; but fully functioning and carefully restored. I have had mine for almost 5 years, now and I simply go back for the occasional tune-up. Prices are right and very competitive.I cant believe some people dared to negatively review this venue. It is the best!!
They are the nicest people! I wrecked a wheel/rim and was pretty tight on money...The mechanic did his best to find me a used one in decent condition and even took the time to hammer out any bends in the rim + true it... all so I could afford to get my bike ridable again. They have a great selection of used bikes all expertly tuned up too. Was little hard to find since they are in the basement of a antique store : )
I had been searching for a replacement for my back wheel that was stolen for a long time. Ryan found the replacement parts and had me fixed up in no time for a very reasonable price. Would recommend!
I came to here to replace a broken housing of the rear gear cable on my road bike. Ryan helped to fix this problem and also helped fix another problem on the chain by removing two units of it to tighten up the chain. Ryan is super friendly and shared valuable experience of bibcyle maintenence that is super helpful. I highly recommend this shop!
Awesome spot. The bikes are old-school mostly, but the team there seems to know what they are doing and the bikes are in very good condition. One of their guys - Jeff - was very friendly to lend me a bike pump and a wrench to fix up my personal bike.
This is THE place to get your biked worked on. ZERO snobiness and genuinely good people to chat with and learn from.
