The service we have gotten here over the years has been terrific, professional, reasonable prices, just wonderful service. I feel like they really do try their best to work with you, if you need to set a budget on costs, theyll try to accomodate (sometimes its just not possible though and thats just the way life can be). We absolutely could not be more pleased with the service weve gotten, highly recommended!

Amazing owner. One of the best guys Ive ever met. Will tell you truthfully what the problem is and realistically what needs to be fixed. I had a small problem and decided to call the shop to see if I could bring my car in but instead the owner gave me personal advice on how to fix the problem myself. I successfully fixed my small problem on my car just from talking to the owner who knows much more than me about cars. The BEST mechanic Ive ever been too. I can reliably get dates to bring my car in AND reliably get dates for when its ready.Also just a really fun guy to talk too. Will also most likely talk to you anything car related. I hope the best for his business. Will continue to bring business.

I dont recommend this place. There is no communication on updates and they took longer than promised. Steve will give you and estimation but very vague. After they look at the transmission he did gave us a price and we did call a day before pick up, and he still gives us the same price. When we pick up the vehicle the price has increased by $700. Steve stated that they to replace filter etc which he should have asked us before doing that. He did say that when we brought the car in, that once open the transmission hell let us know if other work needed but he would not and go ahead without letting us know. A very dishonest place. My in-laws have the same problem with their ford and they took it to a different place and they charge him 1100.00 less then Steve and his dishonest place did. We were referred to him from our trusted mechanic, and he is not using Steve and his team anymore. You will be able to tell from the moment he talks to you that if you dont know your car hell play you.UpdateThe motor mount you mentioned were approved and included in the cost that was given after the transmission was open which was more than a week from the pickup date. We called around 5pm the day before we picked up the car the next day and the cost was still the same, and we were told we could pick up the car the next morning. We picked up the next day and the price increased by $700. Steve explained that a few things need to fix and you did not even mentioned when we called.Your argument that we are reviewing 6 months after your dishonest overcharging doesn’t change the fact that you charged us $700 more than you said you would the night before we picked up the car. It really doesn’t matter when the work was done but this review is what we experienced and it was done in April.I don’t know why you want me to call you when there was nothing to do about it. We were there, and you didn’t do anything when we asked about the additional cost. We asked if we can pay that amount the next day and you refused to release our car unless we paid the price you told us the night before AND the extra $700 you added on at the time of the pickup.Let me know what you want to talk about and we can go from there.

Was a long wait to get job done and had a problem with installation had this shop recheak the transmission and out rages extra bill I would not do business with this shop beware

A few months back, I started having issues with my 02 Toyota 4Runner with 205,000 miles on the odometer. It would randomly go into lockout mode, and unable to drive forward. A Toyota mechanic suggested I go to GS Transmissions. I called and set up a time to have them take it for a drive. Steve was very helpful and answered all my questions. The drive time with their expensive scan tool took a total of 1 hour. They didnt charge me. The transmission seemed to be operating fine when hooked up to the scanner, but at the end of the drive, Steve said that my throttle position sensor was giving funky readings in the face of not having the check engine light on, and that can cause my issue. He suggested replacing it, and if that didnt fix it, discuss more options. I obtained a sensor (which is difficult to do in the 02 4Runner without spending $1400), and its been about 5,000 miles with no issues. Im glad that I took my vehicle to GS Transmissions. Im highly recommending them due to the honesty and knowledge of this shop. They were very thorough. Appreciative of Steve and their team for not trying to push me into something I dont need. A+ GS!

Steve put a new transmission in my truck about a year ago and it runs like a champ he and his guys are the best honest and fair on all there work I will be going back for all my transmission work thanks guys

G & S rebuilt my rear differential on my 2008 Xterra for a fraction of the what the dealer wanted to charge me to replace the entire rear axle. They let me go out into the shop, safely, and watch them work and show me what was wrong with the car. They were willing to let me source the part and they would just perform the labor. I went in as an educated car owner, asked questions, and they were very straight forward with me. Overall, I had good experience(as good as it can be when your car breaks down). I would use them again.

A buyer requested I take the car here. They offered a free buyers inspection of a vehicle (you get what you pay for, or in this case, nothing for nothing). They said several things were wrong with the vehicle ($300 repairs). I passed the information onto the interested buyer, and lost the sale. I took that same vehicle into my own mechanic, and they found NONE of those issues to be true. I never told G & S whether I was the seller or buyer, and they assumed the latter in hopes of getting me to do the (non-existent) repairs there. I would have preferred to have paid a c. $20 inspection fee for a more accurate perusal of the vehicle.

I took my first car to G&S 25 years ago with a transmission that failed after a repair at another local repair shop.G&S disassembled the entire transmission, in my presence, explaining every piece to me.The other shop had left out three pieces. Its a wonder it worked at all.Ive taken all my cars to G&S ever since.More the just transmissions. Theyve repaired my radiators, breaks, suspensions, heater fans, locks...I trust G&S and I always get a fair price.

I recently went to these guys because I thought there was an issue with my car. They looked at it and found there was no issue. Other companies would have charged me over $100 just to look at it, but GST Transmissions didnt charge me anything, even when I offered.Not only that, but they gave me a ride home when they found out I was going to get an Uber when I dropped my car off.Ive gone to these guys for a few different issues and have always had a great experience. Theyre trustworthy, affordable, and super knowledgable and friendly. I would highly recommend GST Transmissions .

We were up here for the spring break weekend in SLC to visit in-laws and i noticed the transmission was a little wonky, yes thats a word, wonky and we had to drive back to Albuquerque the next day. Steve at G & S was super cool/professional. We drove together in my minivan for about 20 minutes testing all the different things on our transmission and we were chatting it up. He was able to see that one of my engine mounts was broken and that i should make it back just fine where i could get it fixed by my regular mechanic. I tried to give him money but he refused. How cool is that!! Definitely go to G&S transmission.

I had a Cadillac transmission rebuilt there years ago, and it was half the cost of other shops. Worked fine while I still had the car. I had some clutch problems on a Miata and they fixed it for under $100 when they could have charged me much more. They have worked on my cars a number of times and Ive always had a good experience. Steve has been friendly and helpful. I have to get a water pump replaced and Im taking it there hopefully this week. I looked them up on Google to call them and saw the reviews, so figured Id put my $.02 in about the shop. Thanks G&S!

Weve taken many vehicles here for several years. Steve and his crew do great, reliable work. Weve had rebuild transmissions on at least 3 different vehicles, suspension work, engine work, pretty much any problems we had we called them first. I not only would recommend this shop to anyone, I HAVE sent many family and friends here. It breaks my heart that we now live out of state and have not been able to find anyone that can come close to comparing to the standard for quality that G&S Transmissions has set! Sometimes theyre a little on the slow side (good shops are always in high demand and overflowing with work) but always well worth the wait.Theyve always been very friendly. Its always nice that theyre happy to explain the details of whats broken, why/how it needs to be fixed. Unlike many places Ive never gotten the arrogant youre a girl you dont understand cars type of attitude from them.
