The eye doctor is not part of Optical Outlets. So, please do not view this review against the doctor themselves. This one star review is for the Optical Outlets location and their staff.I took my son to get his yearly exam and look at some glasses. Once it came time to order the glasses, the staff wasnt knowledgeable with the pricing vs insurance pricing. Knowing what my insurance Co pays are, I asked for an itemized bill and asked if they could help me understand. When asking about the itemized bill, they explained the retail price as prices made up by their company but the money owed is the price I should be focused on rather their retail prices. After getting this explanation the staff member accidentally threw away my printed receipt and after I pointed out they threw away my printed receipt, they went to give me the page from the garbage can!! I asked for a clean receipt that hasnt been in the trash can. After everything was said on done, the employee seemed to be irritated at me for having so many questions. Definitely NOT the place if you are looking for kind, caring, knowledgeable staff to help you with ordering your glasses. You might as well ask for the prescription and order your glasses elsewhere.
I wanna say I had such a good experience being the first time at a eye doctor ! Melissa kupchik was so helpful to help me pick out a pair of glasses.(10/22/21) when my girl and I picked up our glasses today (10/27/21) she was there to help right then and there to help us make sure our glasses fit just right ! Best customer service ever !
Just had an exam today and all the ladies in the middle were very helpful. Everyone was very nice and considerate and helped me find the best frame for my face and lenses based on my needs. Will definitely be back!

Melissa is very knowledgeable and polite to interact with. I was coming to get a new pair of glasses because before I moved to Florida my other pair snapped. and I couldnt get my prescription filled in time. Melissa was very sweet and helpful and was able to take care of my every need. I would definitely come again and would love to get helped by her again. I ABSOLUTELY recommend optical outlets and have them ask for Melissa every time!
I went into this office to get my glasses adjusted and to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses. Both Hailey and Melissa were super nice, helpful and polite. I have not yet seen a doctor at this particular location but this will be the store I shop at going forward. I had been at another location where they were rude and I left.When I mentioned to my daughter how nice the ladies were, shes said she had a similar experience the previous week with Hailey.The people in the front are the face of the business and these two ladies are great faces for this business.

I’ve never had such a fun experience picking out eyeglasses than I did on the day of my appointment! I never had to set up my own appointment before and was very anxious when i called but when i reached Aubrey she handled the conversation very well and guided me through what i needed and helped me set up my appointment quickly and effortlessly.i got to meet ms Aubrey in person when i came in for my appointment and she even helped me pick out some stylish lenses! i appreciate her considerate customer service!
By far my best experience with an eye doctor. The exam went great but the 2 girls in the front who’s names I believe were Melissa and haley were the best part of my visit! Both very sweet and helpful. They helped me pick the perfect frame and made sure I got a great deal. couldn’t be happier
I went to this optical a month or so back and I am still so pleased with my glasses. Brandy from the front was very welcoming to me and my children. I seen Dr.Manning she really took her time to help me understand everything that is going on with my eyes. I have other family members that go here and I’m so glad I started going here.
Wouldnt recommend, going to a different place to get glasses that are correct. Originally gave me wrong perscription and I couldnt even see. Went back and told them to give me prescription prescribed from another optical place. When I received glasses their is a gap from the frame and glasses. I have to put hair ties around the ends of glasses so they will stay on my face. Went back several times for adjustments and they bend them so far they looked like Childs glasses on me. Good luck if you choose them.

Do not go here. Between my daughter and myself with 3 different appointments, none of our prescriptions were correct. On top of that they supposedly sent my daughters glasses back out in the mail, but we never received them. Now they dont want to refund the money that was spent on them. This place is a rip off.P.S. I work at a different opticians office that doesnt take my insurance (bc my insurance is not through my job) and we have a lot of people that complain about their prescriptions and finally go see our Dr with no complaints. I should have known better. Dont make my mistake. Just avoid going to this particular store. The other optical outlets are just fine

The dr was very rude dealing with my elderly father he seemed to be burnt out . Im a nurse that is use to dealing with elderly people he definitely doesnt have no patience .The only reason I went to this office was because my dads insurance said it was the closes but never in my life met a dr like this . I bit my tongue just for my father because hes a very humble person but hes lucky my other sibling didnt go with him. I feel sorry for elderly people that dont have anybody accompanying them, and dont even try to reply on this you cant fix unprofessional employees, I believe in karma and hell get what he deserves !

Dr. David Middaugh treated me and my kids less than human! Told us to GET OUT! after I politely asked to be seen by another doctor because of his refusal to mask up after telling my daughter to take off of her mask so that he could began her eye exam! Total nonsense! If that wasnt enough he then said to my 6 year that the mask she was wearing was not going to protect her from getting covid! Needless to say my 6 year old is now confused and hurt and thinks that I have probably been lying to her for a whole year and a half! This sick Dr needs to seek help and stop practicing immediatly; clearly he isnt well! Oh and I will no longer be bringing my 5 children back; after 6 years of being loyal patients. You would think that someone would care!
I am really impressed with the Optical Outlet in Leesburg. I had a great experience with my eye exam, very professional and thorough, and there are very helpful staff that helped me pick out the best frames for my face. Unfortunately, something happened at the lab, and I did not receive my glasses yet. But here’s the good part of this story, and why I will go back to this Optical Outlet. There is an employee there named Melissa, and she is beyond sweet and helpful. I was a little angry on the phone with her (I mean, hey, I need my new glasses!), and she handled the situation with professionalism, and grace, and was very sympathetic and understanding. She didn’t try to sugarcoat the situation, put me on hold, called the lab, and said that my glasses will be there tomorrow. The regional manager, Muhammad, also returned my call, and apologized, and said he would refund a generous amount that I paid for my glasses. So hopefully that will happen today, plus hopefully I will be able to pick up my new glasses! So stay tuned to see how this review ends, but I am impressed that they would go to such lengths to try to fix the situation! I wish more businesses had this attitude! 😊*** Here is the update for my previous review:My glasses were there the next day, and they are awesome! And the money was refunded to my credit card! UPDATE: (8/3/21) The phone system is still very bad and difficult to navigate. I ordered 4 pairs of glasses on MAY 20th, one of my pairs failed 2 times. Sent them back and the 3rd time they had a defect on the right lens (quality control, the 3rd time?). Sent them back again and had to call you to find out they were in. Its now been about 11 weeks and I havent seen the 4th pair yet. I will update when I get them.To the Owner who answered my last review: please be more helpful and dont be so crass!***********************Their phone system is very difficult to navigate. I had an appointment today that I tried to reschedule and I dialed the number and I couldnt get through the phone system!!If they have gone to a service off site, they should switch it back because its terrible.
TERRIBLE. At 65 yo this has to be the most unprofessional poorly ran optical place I have ever seen. Just a bunch of young inexperienced people who will not listen, and think they know it all. Haley is very rude, disrespectful, and just generally has a bad disposition. If your glasses arent right, best wishes, going back wont help, they decide to fix them without you even telling them the issue. Plus they tell you if you have a problem after they mail them to you just walk in, (dont call or schedule and appointment) yet you walk in, and they schedule you and appointment (could have been done by phone, not a 22 mile drive) then you show up for your appointment to talk with the optometrist (or exam person) about what the problem is and they say just leave your glasses we are going to fix them. 1). How you gonna do that when you dont know what the problem is. 2). Why couldnt we have done this 8 days ago when I WALKED IN as told to do? 3). When I inquired as to what they planned to do. I get told they are going to do what the young Gentleman previously told me cannot be done and he has never heard of (which is what the previous place where I lived done...lol. Of course he knew more than my previous eye doctor with over 30 years experience, and degrees). Also I have lined Bifocals, the line was to high and I was actually looking through both sections when looking straight ahead and get told you need to get used to them. WHAT...!!! how on earth could you ever do that?.... PITIFUL.V.P.1/5/21. update: I called to speak with the Manager 30 minutes after the Manger posted to call the store to talk with them, told them the Manager wanted me to call, and was told the Manager isnt there today, and what?.. So I gave them this name (the review is under) and my name as a customer that they had. So surely they gave the Manager the message I called. As previously mentioned unprofessional and poorly ran. I told them the Manager said to call on my review. You would think they would give you a number, or take a message, or something......Also I initialed the bottom of my post, so that should be a clue it wouldnt be under Justin.1/28/21 Update: Ive heard nothing from them and cannot use the glasses I got.

The entire staff was nice from the minute you walk in, they were taking temperatures and not allowing people in with no mask on. Aubrey helped me find a very nice pair of glasses and made sure I knew exactly what I was paying for, the doctor was also very nice and explained everything to me during my exam. thank you for great glasses and great service !

This was the 3rd strike for this place for me. I show up for my appointment today and they have the nerve to tell me it was cancel. Well, I never received a call notifying me or asking to reschedule. They tried to tell me they waited on hold for me for 6 min and then hung up since I didnt answer.... I only have a cell phone. There is no waiting on hold. I even went online to verify my call records nothing, also verified the number the called, it was mine. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. NEVER DOING BUSSINESS HERE AGAIN.
What a shame I cant put 0 stars!!!!!! Came into the establish a few weeks ago, with my own prescription. The gentlemen that helped me seemed very professional at first, but after I explained to him I had a coupon from your website, he explained that we have many promotions and told me to start looking. After searching through to find a frame (not receiving any help or direction on where the promotion frames were located) I found some and brought them over to him. He started asking me what kind of lens I wanted. After staking a bunch of unnecessary add ons, my total came to almost $500.00!! He tried to chalk it down, but it was still extremely expensive . I came in this business with a promotion for $80.00 and made it very clear to the young man that was all I anticipated on paying. So glad I decided not to go this route and took my business elsewhere. Will not be returning.

My experience was horrible! Had my eye exam, picked out a pair of glasses, glasses arrived in mail, was cleaning the lens and could hear cracking. To me it seemed like the lens were loose so I took them in and the receptionist waited on me took my glasses to back room somewhere out of my sight several times and each time has me try them on and I could still hear the crackling in the lens. Come to find out my lenses are pop out lenses. Why in the heck would someone order glasses with pop out lenses is beyond me. I was never told that these lenses were pop out lenses. If I would’ve know that I would’ve never ordered them. The receptionist taking to the lady next to her that was working there to tell her the problem with my glasses and that I wasn’t happy with them. The lady told the receptionist to tell me that they would order me new lens and frames had me sign a piece of paper. They told me they would call when new glasses came in. I waited over a week, so I called them told them who I was and why I was calling. They told me I already came and picked up the new frames. I told them I never got the new frames and they kept going around and around and finally they said they will order new frames and I just keep the lens I have.They tried telling me my frames were defective.Very very bad communication there! Once I get the new frames never ever again will I go back there! I would never ever recommend them to anybody. After my horrible experience why would I? Not a happy customer at all!!!! They’re so unprofessional there. Too many young unexperienced employees there!
This place is a joke and I am very disappointed. Coming from another state being a supervisor in a optical place, this place is not professional at all. Well actually the drs are. Front staff are the worst. I came here like about a year ago and experienced the worst disrespectful staff. Here I am again, giving them the benefit of doubt. My appt was almost 3 weeks. I was advised I was never a pt there, I had to show proof I was. Three weeks later I am still waiting for a referral appt to see a specialist. Upon confirmation of referral between the office and specialist, I was told by 2 different specialist that this optical place has not yet forward them my referral. If I was the supervisor there, I would fire everyone including office manager. Please do not waste your money coming to this office.
Last summer my daughters glasses broke, so her insurance was accepted by Optical Outlet. She had a great exam, and found some really nice frames on the rack. They were so great to us, that I just went for an exam, and it was a very thorough exam, due to diabetes and Lupus medication. I go pick up my glasses today! I found a great frame on the rack, so the service was great. (As a note, the staff was spot cleaning where people congregated, keeping the areas clean the whole time I was there.)

I had an excellent experience with this office. The staff was friendly, helpful, and patient as they taught my daughter how to put in her contacts. The doctor was especially helpful to me as she explained not only what was wrong with my eyes, but what I could expect in the future. Will definitely be back when due for an exam. Her professionalism kindness and knowledge was second to none I actually thought she was the owner. Its rare in todays day and age to run into such a lovely young lady like Crystal. It can get busy, though, if you make an apportionment, Its not bad. They take most insurances. They take their time with you & answer any questions you might have. Its truly a great place for your eye care. They are honest & not just trying to sell you things. Im happy everytime we go. They also thank dont forget you when you leave. This is an awful experience I wish I would have gone somewhere else I have a new place picked out for next time the staff is Rude I got my glasses way to strong so called back Janes wanted me to come in for an adjustment it is not the fit of the glasses its the prescription itself then he wanted me to wait 4 weeks to get back in for a recheck would not recommend this place at all! Luckily found another place for my kid wish I would of found it sooner for me.
Made an appointment for eye exam was told my United health Care would cover it. But it didnt... Paid out of pocket never got a receipt or my prescription, they said I would have to buy contacts and glasses from them before he gave me the prescription I paid for. Very rude and unprofessional. If I could I would report him. I will post this in my community news letter.
So I scheduled an appointment for last Saturday showed up early and was informed by Sydney that my insurance was “inactive “ and that they tried calling me to tell me . I never received a phone call from them and I expressed this and she so arrogantly told me they did and can give me the exact times . I told her it must be a wrong number and then asked her what number she had on file and it was a wrong number no I’m sorry, nothing, she was just like do you still want the appointment? I gave her the correct number and then asked her when was my insurance checked ? It’s currently active it’s through my employer and I just used it two days prior. She told me it wasn’t her it was Alex from the FC department and that I would have to call my insurance myself and figure it out ! I drove 30 minutes and wasted gas to drive there for a arrogant unprofessional person to waste my time . When I asked her name she became angered and annoyed . Luckily for her my daughter was present but I did let her know the whole experience was very unprofessional. My children have been getting their eye exams there for the last few years so I thought I would start getting mine there never again me nor my children.
Horrible! I have never had so many problems with my contacts before. I don’t know if the brand or script was off but my contacts where blurry and burning. I went through the whole box in one month. They offered me an appointment for another fit but after waiting 1 hour and not being seen I left. Don’t expect to be seen on time! I will not be returning

Just trying to get a pair of reading glasses is a huge pain. This experience has been awful, and as soon as my glasses actually make it in, I will no longer return or refer anyone. Too many issues. They need to train employees to communicate better and how to be more professional.

I do have to say i hate sitting behind them my mother has a problem breathing and form the front door to the chairs was to far for her and its just not a good felling when you walk in and see 4 people getting helped and the 20 people waiting old store lay out was much better...
Did not space chairs 6 apart-to many chairs to make that possible. Employees wore face masks with side gaps or under their noses. Employees chairs were close. No removable liners on examenation equipment. Advertise one price and charge a much higher price for exam and glasses.
The staff is friendly and clearly doing their best but either their system or lack of staff is hurting them immensely. After over two hours and being seen three times and having to wait 45+ minutes in between, I finally got out with a simple contact prescription. Even with an appointment, in between they are seeing walk-ins. Unfortunately until they have more staff I will not be coming back.

My daughter and I both have gotten glasses from here, and our experience is always great! Only complaint is theres ALWAYS a wait no matter what time you go, but thats to be expected. Staff is courteous and professional, frame selection is great, and we never had e to wait long to receive our glasses once ordered!

Went in and signed sheet. Waited for over 30 minutes for sales. Two persons were just talking to each other and just ignored us. Left with no apology from staff. Very unprofessional.
Went in to have an exam in September, spoke to Dr. about getting glasses and contacts. Ordered both, called to see if contacts had come in yet and was told they were sent to another store and I would have to wait a few more weeks. Finally they arrived, went in and paid for contacts. Now it is December and I wanted to order more but they have lost all information that I ordered contacts to begin with and will not order any unless I come in for another exam. Apparently my first exam didnt cover contacts, just glasses. I refuse to ever step foot in this place again. I will call my insurance company and make sure they didnt get charged for a contact exam. I dont complain usually but this seems unfair and ridiculous!!
Receptionist is doing two jobs, front desk and eye test. The women sitting in the middle of the room are useless and roll their eyes if you dare ask a question. The optometrist is way too amazing to work here, I suggest paying the receptionist more seeing as though hes working two jobs in one shift.
Had some issues with some of the staffs attitude and a little long of a wait but the doctor was very nice and the lady who did end up helping us was very nice as well. The office manager called me and sorted out the issue and was very professional about the whole thing and assured me that she would speak to her staff about the situation.
Takes forever to get the process completed. And they didnt call me when my prescription came in. I had to call myself to ask. And then it takes forever to pick up a simple, already paid for prescription of contacts that I had to come in to try on for the doctor a day after my original appointment (even though I had previously had the exact same brand and even same script)... Needs a new system for sure.
Dont waste your money here! The glasses are so cheap because they are terrible! I got 2 pairs, one is too small for my face and the other is too big so they both constantly slide down because neither fit right. The glare on them is awful and distracting. When I picked up my glasses the lenses were already dirty and smugged. I would never go here again, I should have gone elsewhere and paid a little bit more to get much better quality glasses. I have been advising my friends not to go here.

Had an exam 2 weeks ago and found the frames I liked on their web site. Went to store today to order and the C404 frames I wanted for $29.95 on their own web site are $99.95 in store. The ladies said they are sorry but they dont run the web site. I could use my insurance in the store but not on their web site. Online the total price for frame, polycarbonite progressive lenses with anti glare, scratch resistance, etc is $109.95 but they will not accept my insurance. In store they accept my insurance but the cost is close to 3 times as much for exactly the same frame and lenses. It is a complete rip off scam and would advise avoiding this establishment. If you cant honor the prices on your own web site in store and have different rules for insurance you are not an honorable business. The original Doctor exam was fine and the store is clean with friendly staff but I will never recommend any business that doesnt honor their own web site prices in store. STAY AWAY!Update 9-7-19 Ginny from the store called me Friday and said Corporate had seen my negative review and wanted her to help. She said they could offer me the frames only for $30 at the store if I changed my review. She said their store has more overhead than a web only site like Zenni, I could try on the glasses in store but not on web only sites and that justified the price difference. I also couldnt use my insurance on the web site but could in store. I said the stores next to you in the shopping center like Publix and Advanced Auto also have web sites and their prices in store are exactly the same like any honorable business. I counter offered by asking her to call Corporate and price match their online price for the complete set including frames,progressive lenses,coatings, etc of $110. in store. She hasnt called back. I did explore Zenni on line and her statements that I couldnt use my insurance and couldnt try on before purchase were true. I have now ordered an upgraded pair from Zenni that includes the same progressive lens and coatings and better frames with 159 positive reviews of 94% for quality and 96% for fit for $44 delivered to my door in about 1 week. I figure for Optical Outlets price in store I could order 4 more pairs from Zenni instead of using my insurance in their store and still be ahead of the game. I dont like giving negative reviews to a local business but this store is not an honorable establishment and my advice is to avoid them for anything but an eye exam which was thorough. Im sure they wont like this review but my statements are true so buyer beware. STAY AWAY TIMES 2!
We have a problem that spanned over a couple visits. My mother, my wife, and I have all been to eye doctors all of our lives and we have never had this bad of an experience.First day we had an appointment and it took them two hours and forty five minutes to get us out the door. The dr. was curt and very much not personable.Second day we came in for a fitting on the two sets of glasses we had ordered for my mother. The lady fitting her spent a good effort fixing the glasses. Between the first and second fittings she had to take a phone call and it broke the focus she had on us, as customers. The second pair was completely lop sided and she was ready to send my mother out the door. When we kept correcting her (because they were slowly becoming more level, but not completely), the girl behind the counter gave signs of wanting to give us an attitude. She didnt, so I give her credit for that.The system they have where every worker answers the phone is ridiculous. It shifts their mood, and takes away any warmth and attentiveness they may have had with their patient.Glasses we bought were fine and well priced. It is the system they have set up that sucks. Management needs to improve.
They have great customer service. The doctors are great. The receptionist is really kind and friendly. Had a great experience there

Great experience, the staff were very helpful and friendly helping me all the way through the whole process. I was not sure if i wanted to go to this store after reading a couple of negative reviews but im glad i went! 10/10 see you next year.

The prescription I got in my glasses was too strong and my contacts were not strong enough. When I called to find out what happened they said they would have the dr call me back and that Still hasn’t happened worst eye dr I have ever seen and the most impersonable experience ever you could tell they didn’t care about the patient at all. I will never go back.

Took my children in a year ago and they were packed. But we let the slowness of the staff slide. The Dr was so quick it was surprising. My daughter needed glasses bc she couldnt see the words in a book without holding it way up close to her face and they said no glasses needed. I thought hey hes the dr he knows best right??
