We started going to Compass 18 months ago because it was close to home, but will not go back moving forward. Compass mis-diagnosed my daughters amblyopia, prescribing lenses with inaccurate correction. Compass also got my prescription wrong (glasses and contacts) – so wrong that I developed migraines wearing the lenses for a few days. They rush the exams and upsell you on many things – further exam testing, lens coatings, etc. In the end, I couldnt trust Dr. Tan.

Dr. Tan and Mark gave great customer service and highly recommend choosing them as your primary eye care provider.

I went here for my first time this January(2018) after moving to the Oak Park area. My wife did some research and found Compass Eye Care to be highly recommended. Its safe to say that she was 100% correct. The staff and optometrist I had the opportunity to interact with were very prompt, diligent, and professional. My exam was thorough and the results from each part were explained to me in a way I could understand. I highly recommend having your next eye appointment here and you wont want to go anywhere else.

First of all, the place is amazing. The layout is nice, very welcoming, no harsh lighting. Youd think you walked into a showroom.Second, Maureen, the amazingly gracious woman that greets you upon entering the establishment is one of the friendliest, down-to-earth business associate I have ever come across.She was extremely helpful and completely diligent in what she does. I had some issues with contacts from a different company.She took matters into her own hands, and ... well, hands down, she rocks!Thank you Maureen for making my life not only happier, but easier! I have been going here for some years now and no complaints! The staff is friendly and helpful and usually when i go its not to busy so there isnt much of a wait unlike other places. Dr.Tan answers any questions i may have and thoroughly explains everything. The way he examines is 10X better than any other place!! He cares and isnt like other places where they just want to get you in and out the door.

I came to Compass for a long-delayed exam and new contact lenses, and I was impressed with the practice the moment I walked in the door. The staff is very competent and professional and kind as can be. I am a retired IT professional and was considerably impressed with how well their electronic office was organized. When I met with Dr. Tan, he was friendly and caring, clearly explaining everything he was doing along the way. He designed for me a pair of lenses that are extremely comfortable and acute on the second day of wearing, after a couple of weeks without contacts at all. I have had excellent service and experience with my entire family at Lenscrafters for many years. I can easily recommend that Compass is at least equally, and probably better qualified to give you that quality of care in a smaller, more relaxed community type of atmosphere. I did not order eye glasses, so I cant speak to that. However, considering the quality of service and the contact lenses I received, I will not hesitate to go to Compass if I need them. Top quality professional eye care, highest recommendation.

Dr. Alex Tan and his staff are the epitome of what it means to be knowledgeable, caring and fun wrapped into one. This practice is exactly what Id been searching for while looking for an optometrist for myself and my husband, and theyve only exceeded expectations at every turn. Dr. Tan provides every option for glasses, contacts and eye care and follows up in ways that you couldnt imagine another doctor doing. His support staff are also on point; from Marks kind ability to help find and fit frames that work on your face to the desk staff working with your financial needs. If you are in the Oak Park area, this needs to be your practice, hands-down.

I love Dr. Tan and his staff at Compass Eye Care. He is very knowledgeable and very patient with my 12 year old son. I always have a great experience when we visit his office. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Best Eyecare I have ever received. Dr. Tan and his associate doctor Dr. Serenda are thorough and very friendly. The entire staff was friendly and professional and worked with me to find the best frame and contact lens fits. Most of the frames they carry are a bit pricier but they do have a nice selection of lower cost glasses to choose from as well. I did end up paying more than I expected to but the frames are unique and I just fell in love with them. Compass will be my eyecare place for as long as I am in the state!

Ive been a patient of Compass Eye Care for 5 years and have nothing but good things to say about them. Dr. Tan is thorough, professional, and kind. He takes his time and thoroughly answers questions. Ill soon be moving to Denver and wish I could take Compass with me! Its not always easy to find good doctors. Ill miss Dr. Tan.

Dr Tan was great. He took time to teach me about my eye structure, describe options for treatment of my limitations and then helped me choose the lenses that worked best for my lifestyle. I left understanding what I wanted and needed and was happy with my choices.

The doctor was incredibly helpful and explained everything. An excellent exam. As someone who has just returned from 10 years overseas with very unhelpful doctors, I was so un-used to this helpfulness that I had to laugh. Good to be back home with people who care what they do!

I was the last patient of the day, yet Dr. Tan spent a lot of time with me and was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions. I greatly appreciate that he was giving me good medical advice but still gave me a lot of options without pressuring me towards any specific one.

I have had a lot of experience with eye doctors. Avid Tennis player, thus precision of my eyes is very important. Nearsighted since 10 years old, Ortho-K user for 8 years in my 20s, 6th nerve palsy surgery due to a car accident in my 30s to name a few. I have only been a customer to Compass Eye Care for a year, but the doctor is great and very knowledgeable. I make appointments quickly and know the staff will take care of my needs. Highly recommended!

I went into this store to browse & heres my experience. 1st off, all the mens & womens frames are mixed together so it was quite difficult to search with those parameters. Next is the frames themself were overpriced, most being in the $350+ range. I did view a few of those & looked at the country origin, 1 was made in Korea the other was China so its my belief that the markup is quite great. Lastly is the way they responded to me & ignored me until i asked for help although there were 2 staff & 1 customer- whether or not it was because I was in a wheelchair Im not for certain. Im not 1 for writing negative reviews but I had to save someone or 2 from a bad experience.

Dr. Tan was very professional, super friendly, and made an effort to explain everything in detail, making sure I was always comfortable. This was one of, if not the best optometrist visits Ive had in my life, and Ive been using corrective lenses for the last 15 years.

Hands down dopest place in the history of eye care places. This place is the mad note! If you dont go here you may as well be blind! This place is the bee knees man! The cats pajamas!
