One of my favorite Omaha coffeehouses. I was not aware this had a religious affiliation, which I appreciate since Im agnostic. It was only once I looked at the clothing that I realized it. The surroundings are chill and there are 2 large rooms for people to spread out. And THE COFFEE! omg perfection. Dare I say better than Scooters? π² The specialty drinks are seriously insane. I really enjoyed the Hello Kitty. Plus, there is local art on the walls for perusal. I hope to be back again!
Lots of seating means never needing to stand. Its a good place with some solid coffee options. I like the fact they had a hello Kitty latte to try. It was a sticker that made it more hello Kitty like but it was still kind of cute.Pricing seemed fair for what was offered. Service was goodIt is located in the old market. There is parking right outside however it is metered
Open back up lol I miss all of the amazing vibes the pool tables and the amazing coffee concoctions I miss everything that is Sozos
Sozos is a locally owned coffeehouse ministry. Ive never had a bad experience here. Their coffee is good (Hello Kitty is my personal favorite), the people are great, and the atmosphere is perfect. Great place to study, hang out with friends, or do a Bible study! They also have games and pool tables to rent. Awesome place!
SOZO Coffee House is still temporary closed theyre looking at reopening sometime in September but GAMe Ministries is still actively having a dinner followed by worship and a Bible study on Tuesday nights dinner is usually from 6:00 to 6:30 worship usually starts around 7:00 and the Bible study usually starts around 8:00 come check us out and visit us on Tuesday nights
The best coffee in Omaha with the most comfortable atmosphere! You cannot beat the prices and I absolutely love the opportunity to rent rooms for private study/meetings. You can tell the staff have a passion for people and their creativity shines through their work.
Just would like to remove the kind review I left.
Sozo Coffeehouse is a powerhouse downtown coffee location. Great coffee, for sure, but also a great neo-industrial underground brick theme with couches, pool tables, private meeting spaces, art gallery, and even a stage with a sound system. This is the It place for Omaha teens and 20-somethings. Dont miss it.
Great place for coffee. Could have more sizes. It quiet and peaceful. Should have a unlimited coffee pot.
Iβve only been here once, but remember it every time I look. The coffee was tasty! Itβs open late, and has a downstairs vibe thatβs really fun. I will be back one of these times through.
Best coffee and atmosphere in the area. We like the pool tables that are always clean.
One of my favorite coffee places in Omaha, atmosphere is amazing, they also rent private rooms
Best coffeehouse in omaha! iβve never had a bad experience, and i come here a ton! highly recommend!! get the chai itβs delicious :)
Some of the rudest employees Ive ever encountered.
The coffee and treats are good. The aesthetic is nice. A perfect date spot or hang out with friends. They have, study space, a party room and some games to play!
It is over priced ...but the coffee taste good ...also they need to work on toast bagels...need more variety of bagels and better toaster
Great place, they have a nice selection of flavors for drinks and their specials are good. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight, some private rooms and a big area with pool tables and a foosball table. My new favorite coffee shop.
Great tasting coffee. Then have a drink called sonshine that tastes like banana nut bread
Now that their seating area is open again, they have been diligent about following social distancing guidelines. I feel I can study and work here safely. A good place to be during normal times and a pandemic. ;) Good coffee, GREAT chocolate scones.
I asked staff about their cleaning habits in regards to COVID. They actually admitted to not being able to keep up with cleaning regulations (and here the best part) because there were too many guests.Would not recommend, at least for now.
I liked sozos coffee hut. Very nice and clean.Love the Christian faith music they play.(Anybody know the station?)
We LOCE Sozo! Study rooms are perfect for a quiet conversation.
Its so delicious. ill return friends next time. reminds me of a place in new york i loved to visit.
Barista was unpleasant and short. Slow service but he was by himself. Drinks were good. Artwork on display was awesome.
I didnt know this place existed. Very low key, quaint spot. The atmosphere was cool and collected. The coffee was absolutely great. I asked for a blended turtle. It was made perfect. They offer a live band, pool and more. I most definitely will host an event here!!
I love this place. Has great coffee, the space is huge but waiting 20 minutes is pretty average even if thereβs only a couple people in front of you. If you want a quick coffee, not the spot but if youβre studying and plan on staying for awhile I canβt think of a better location.
My normal coffee shop was closed so I figured I would give this place a shot and it was a disappointment. I dont care if your employees want to have headphones in talking on the phone but when a customer comes into order they actually need to pay attention to them instead of being extremely rude. Overall atmosphere of this place was a joke and the product is mediocre go up the street and spend your money at Hardy. Better employees, atmosphere, and a much better product.
You can reserve a study room to study and is a cozy and friendly environment!
Dont let the 1st impression fool you. This is a great place. Awesome atmosphere, great menu options
The coffee was wonderful the atmosphere was fantastic there with my sister and my niece and enjoyed it very much!!!
Super funky atmosphere, but great coffee and prices.
Love Sozo! In the basement of one of Omahas original buildings, it offers ample space for coffeetalking groups of all sizes, conference rooms in back (available for way reasonable rental rates) as well as a stage for presentations. Cozy seating area up front by 2 pool tables and rad local art everywhere for sale or just enjoyment. The coffee, the creations made with the coffee, the snacks and treats-wonderful selection and all are yummy! Staff is friendly and efficient! A friend that travels in a few times a year *always* needs to stop for a blended Hello Kitty each time. Check it out. One of my favorite coffeehouses EVAH!!
Great place to study and good coffee
Super sweet staff, great drinks, follows COVID-19 restrictions felt super safe!
Had a great first experience. So comfortable, lots of room, and good coffee! (Plus, they have a large assortment.)
What a gem of a place! So much more than a coffee house. Went for a Friday night comedy show and had a blast. It is in the lower level of a building, but the do have elevator access for ADA. Just call them and theyll have someone escort you for the elevator. Yummy drinks, chill setting. You can shoot pool or do whatever.Wish I got pictures, but just did a couple small clips of the event they hosted.
Ill start out by this was once my favorite place to go get a coffee and smoothie at one time, but as of recently every time i have gone it seemed as if the quality has deteriorated. I always really have enjoyed their specialty drinks and were always top notch that blew me away, but the last three times Ive gone it just has not been good at all. The only saving grace for me is the great environment and the baristas are always welcoming as soon as you walk in the door to when you leave. Ill wait a while to go back and hope the quality improves to what it once was
I go here on a regular basis. Usually my experience is pleasant, however lately Ive noticed that service has been slightly lacking due to a new hire.Last week on Sept 16, I arrived in the evening and there was a long line of people due to there being only one barista. He was doing a good job trying to get our drinks knocked out in a timely fashion. Upon leaving after an hour later, I noticed another employee that clocked in at a later time. I overheard the new female employee scolding the other barista, and when he looked away, she responded with, Are you evening listening! This was uncalled for and not at all professional. Sozo should foster an encouraging and warm work environment for its employees as well as its customers. I hope that this lady gets instructed in treating employees better since that sort of behavior gives the coffeehouse a bad look.
A little hole in the wall for people to enjoy, great drinks and wonderful ones bars that are recommended.
Comfortable and cozy! I was sad about the accessibility options because it is down stairs and I cant take my friend who uses a wheelchair. Otherwise, the banana bread cappuccino was really good!!
In October 2020 i called regarding renting a space in the coffee house.Wanting to have a party for my daughters 20th bday...They helped me choose a room to suit my needs... Offered an incredible price... Unbelievable bargain... For sure one of the best deals in town... Ive been trying to let many others know. They allowed me to bring in food cake water bottles.. Small appliances etc. It was so easy online also... So easy to navigate once they helped me over the phone... They told me exactly what to do to secure time and room. The staff, every one of them, were so friendly down to earth And helpful. Never annoyed! And i ask a lot of questions!! πOnce the evening came i was so thrilled with the room.. Outlets, space.. Cozy couches chairs lamps... Felt like a living room.. Painted cool designs on brick wall.. Just perfect... There was a Man who worked there who helped me so much.. Getting me a big table for my food and a tablecloth... He got me a three pronged extension chord because i didnt bring appropriate extensions πI was able to get more chairs for room as needed. They supplied me a pitcher of cold water for my guests!!I was blown away.I am so thankful and grateful to them.. Many of my guests couldnt believe the facility and the cool room and the PRICE!!After we left they put away everything and cleaned the room for me.Definitely suggest this for many many Occasions!!!!!! π€π€π€π€π€An EXTREMELY happy guest, Chenelle Thompson π
My sister worked here until yesterday. This place is run out of a Christian ministry (Great Adventure Ministry), which you wouldnt know by just visiting the website or the coffee shop itself. The employees are also instructed not to play Christian music and not to discuss the ministry during their shift. Now, in and of itself, a ministry or nonprofit coffee shop is not a bad thing, although IMHO it should be very clear to customers so they know what they are choosing to support. However, the management of this shop are additionally deceiving many of their customers into making donations to them, and in turn they are stealing wages from their employees, who make less than minimum wage after factoring in a weekly unpaid mandatory meeting. There is a tip jar (clearly labeled as a tip jar - pic attached) on the counter, but the baristas are not permitted to keep any tips - they are taken by management as donations to the ministry. Yes, this is illegal - tips are the property of employees regardless of whether they make 2.13 an hour or minimum wage.I am encouraging my sister to make a complaint with the Nebraska Department of Labor for wage theft and violation of the FLSA and applicable state wage and hour laws if her stolen wages are not in her last paycheck within the next two weeks. I am posting this review in hopes that all past and current barista employees do the same. Christians have to follow the same laws as everyone else - also, pretty sure the Bible says a thing or two about not stealing and paying your laborers the amounts they are owed.Note that my sister met with the owner, Chad Michaels Peterson, after her last day to discuss this with him. He tried to tell my sister that actually she gets paid 2.13 an hour and the tips add up to about $9.00 an hour. This is not what other management has told her, and furthermore, they do not provide any of their employees pay stubs so that employees can verify the amount of tips or deductions, which is another violation of state law. If she were getting paid tips through her paycheck, there would also be a variation between paychecks, so frankly, Mr. Petersons explanation smells like utter BS.TL;DR: This place treats their employees and customers unethically and should be avoided until and unless they make things right with all their employees and customers.
Love it so much! Quality drinks met with quality service. My friends and I love the environment and the fact that you can rent rooms for very cheap.
This place used to be better years ago. Drink wasnt that great.
This is a really great place to just get away from the hustle and bustle of life and just relax. Lots of drink options, a couple of pool tables, you can rent a study room, and they even have a foosball table! 10/10 would recommend.
Very cozy atmosphere great coffee and friendly staff!
Every food item was prepared beautifully.
Nice place to sit and read draw socialize. Its a Christan based business, but they push religion on u.
This is an AMAZING place to gather with friends!!! The drinks are delicious & there are also choices for scone-type snacks. There are pool tables, small tables to visit, read, or study, local artwork to look at or buy, and rooms that can be reserved for group meetings. Love coming here.
Expect a laid back and chilled environment. Drinks here are very good as well. Lots of fun games to choose from or you can play pool.
It if a great place to people watch hem-hem I mean study! With the comfy couches, the pool table, the study rooms and the tasty snacks, you are in for a space worthy of the name coffee shop! Just know if there is only one person working the coffee bar...it will take you a while to get the frothy goodness you ordered.
Best coffee in town . I usually get the Carmel Blend. Hit it once a week
Cool space. Its nice that they have many meeting room options for rent and pool tables too. Im not a fan of the religious atmosphere, though, so its not my go to coffee house in Omaha.
Very nice coffee place downtown. My daughter loves this place and I see why. Good coffee and very chill vibe.
β βCOMPROMISEDββ ZERO βπΌ(s)βAN βEMPLOYEEβHERE MAKES ME UNCOMFORTABLE; HE IS RETICENT; ANTI-SOCIAL IN A BEREFT WAY. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR CALLOUS SERVICE. Great place to get a coffee and play some pool!
Fun atmosphere, huge space, really good drinks. Nice study and meeting rooms too.
Love this place!! Its a great place to go to study or meet up with friends. It does get busier during finals week but it is also open later during that time. Has the best Chai Latte and the specialty drinks are always delicious. Would highly recommend if you are wanting to try something new.
God is always good and his mercy is great day by day. I love this place, there is peace, harmony. You can pass it on to the best.
The whole vibe was wonderful and warm. Everyone working and everyone that came in was pleasant and happy. The fact that there were different sections was nice and I love that there is a quiet study room. I will definitely go again. Its also aesthetically pleasing so pictures will turn out great if you have any social media accounts!
Really awesome staff. Very welcoming. Really cool atmosphere. Great coffee
I love the atmosphere of this place. They also host a lot of clean, family-friendly events. Comedy nights are always great.
Amazing atmosphere, great coffee, and the barista handled our group of 8 wonderfully and accurately! Thank you!
I always have such a great experience when I go here. Employees are very kind and always eager to help me. π my new favorite place to study / buy coffee.
I really like the whole basement feel and that they have pool tables. Its a nice, chill spot. The coffee is a bit strong for me but still good.
Very homey, not sterile and unfriendly like many of the trendy coffee houses. Its a place you can meet friends and hang out for a while.
Great place to work, study and read. Good place to hang out also. Very comfortable!
Love this place. They host events though. They didnt warn us that there was going to be a loud event until just before the event started, so we ended up being surprised by a huge sum of people coming in to so karaoke, aside from that, the people/place is very nice. We use the study rooms most of the time. The rooms are more than often available and are very nice to relax while doing work.
Fantastic coffee shop, my favorite in the city. Great place to play pool with friends, study or work, and lots of Christian ministries based there, right in the heart of the city.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and tasty coffee. Customer satisfaction is their number one priority! Love it!
This place is an absolute little gem, tucked out of the way. The coffee was very good and not chain coffee. The atmosphere is great because its a little something for everyone. Theres pool tables in the front and some board games as well as little tables. Theres a quiet little area with couches in the back and off the side was a performance space where there was something being performed while we were there. They also sell some local made items. Worth checking out.
Great atmosphere! Available board games, pool tables and space. Super laid back and comfortable. I can see myself and friends regularly stopping by to hang out in and enjoy ourselves. Customer service was wonderful
Oh yes. This place is a favorite of mine. Lots of comfortable couches to hang out on. The study rooms are great as well.
Great coffee. It really helps that this place is open late as well. The ambience is cute and cozy as well with artwork on the walls and board games to play with your friends. Highly recommend this spot!
Coolest place in the neighborhood, literally and figuratively π Amazing breve!
I rented room 6 at Sozo this Sunday for a peer group, and I was very pleased with the process. There was a great group practicing in the main area with the stage, and whoever was singing has a gorgeous voice. Also, my almond London Fog was hands down the best Ive ever had in my life. Thank you Sozo!
Very trendy place with table games as well as pool they also have private study rooms and a conference room for 10 an hour with a projector. Along with several couches as well as a stage in the main area plenty of tables and an overall good vibe
A quaint place to study or just be with friends. The private study rooms are great for personal time or a night of board games. The coffee is unique and fair priced!
Love the venue and the coffee was awesome!
Very cool place to hang out. Yummy coffees, comfy couches, pool tables and board games.
Great coffee. Atmosphere is fantastic. Staff are welcoming and friendly.
Very warm and welcoming. Went there for a meet and there was a long line but understandably so, the baristas were patient as well. Would definitely recommend them. :)
Love this place it give me a safe place to hand out. Ive catered a couple times. Booking now for event. Loving life right now.
One star for false pretenses. After patroning this place for a few months. I found out from one of the Baristas that this place is first and foremost a Church. I was also told by the same employee that I shouldnt tip because they do not see any of the cash tips. The tips are instead made as donation to the church. All and all I would say this hypocritical for a Christian establishment. I will go so far as to briefly quote from the bible; Matthew 21:12-13 and Mark 11:15-18. Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money.... Basically this place is a church peddling wares and service in their place of worship. This is like going to church and exiting through the gift shop. If Christianity is their true belief system then unfortunately I feel they are leading a congregation astray, against the moral values of the greater religion.
Open and welcoming space. Coffee made to order is great. The large seating areas make it a great place to study, have a conversation with a friend or go on a coffee/tea date.
Loved this place. Good strong coffee and great vibes. Very friendly staff and I loved the public printer there. Its not cheap, but was very helpful over my trip.
Nice intemeant place. Located in the basement. There is an elevator that doesnt work well, so not really handicap accessible.
Its a pretty chill spot in Omaha. You can do homework, hang out with friends, or just sit down and relax. Theres a little something for everyone. The coffee is pretty good too. They also have apple cider and hot chocolate :)
Everything about this place is..warm and gives off such a homey vibe.Coffee there is absolutely great and the staff is super friendly, love talking to them.Theyve got tons of board games and also have billiard tables you can rent for a VERY reasonable price. That also goes along with their study rooms in the back- clean, quiet, comfy. I go here often and highly recommend it too.Side note: I love the entrance and how its hidden downstairs. Its reminds me of NYC and I love the style.
Atmosphere was wonderful. There is plenty of space, pool tables, board games, private rooms and more. The only difficult part was when they had a live performer come in, the sound bounced off the brick walls and was quite loud (presumably to reach the back of the establishment).
