I brought my bike for a tune up. First time I ride it after I picked up the breaks where making as much if nto worse noise than before. I stopped by and asked about it, they said to bring it any day as it was a quick fix. I brought the bike the following week. They told me I had to leave it with them for three days as it wasnt a quick fix. I was not prepared for that so I had to bring it in yet another time, for them to fix something that should have been fixed with the original tune up. Im sorry, but who has time for this? And note that it was a simple routine tune up. Im finding a shop that values my time more next time.

If I could give bike connection a zero I would. Bought a very nice mountain bike from this shop then a year later asked them to pack the bike in a box so I could ship it to Europe since I was moving. When I opened the box I found out that my drop post cable was stuck so far deep inside the bike that it was completely broken, the paint on the fork has come off and the detailer was removed without properly packaging it. I then called to ask for some money back since I payed over 200 for packing, the person on the phone( who I assume was the owner) offered me a 5$ refund for my drop post cable and was pretty rude. After spending a ton of money at this shop I’m sad to say that I’m very disappointed in how they handled this situation and I will never be their customer again. I had to wait a week for the bike to be fixed in a local shop in a small town where one guy spent over 4 days working on it letting me know everything that happened after letting the bike be shipped.

I broke a pivot bolt on my 2013 Scott Genius. I had a great deal of trouble finding and ordering the bolt online or through most bike shops. The online option would have shipped from Europe, costing a great deal in shipping and lots of time. The team at Bike Connection quickly reached out to their Scott representative and got me the kit ordered and delivered to the shop within a week.Unfortunately the kit Scott sent was short one piece that I needed. Sonny went out of his way to make it right give me a pice from their own stock so I wouldn’t have to wait another week for my part.Thank you so much, this was my first experience here and I will certainly be recommending this shop and coming again.

Friendly staff, large choice of bikes. But beware of the quality of the work of the on site mechanics, and the competency of recommendations. We bought a bike and asked for a matching rear carrier. We got one that doesnt, in fact, fit, as its too large and now prevents the saddle for lowering all the way. Also, it was shoddily fitted, with bent holders and not horizontal.Updated after the reply from the business: Thank you for the offer! I will come by on the weekend to get it corrected; will post update here when done.Updated after bringing the bike back to the store: Took 15 minutes without any wait time on a Sunday afternoon to get the rack fitted properly. See second picture.

After the bike box came off the airline, it was beaten up and I was a bit worried. Some staffs are helpful and some can be dishonest. I brought my old road bike in so they can take a look at it and get me all the parts I needed. One of the staff told me that it is not worth repairing it. He said my fork is not perfectly aligned (it was fine), and would cost me a thousand dollars to fix, so might as well just get a new bike. I was baffled because all I needed was brake cables and tires. I argued until the other staff stepped in. He recommended me some cheaper and good quality parts he can find to restore my bike. It has been 8 months and my bike still runs well.

Such a bummer because the store looks great, lots of bikes in stock, and lots of folks working there that can help. The reason for the two stars: they are so rude and act like you owe them something when you walk into the store! Staff is very hit or miss, some are extremely friendly and helpful and others were just waiting for us to leave and even told us to hurry up since they were closing soon. Never mind, we are just buying a cheap $950 bike...We came in to pickup a bike that was pre-ordered by a family member as a surprise birthday gift, they brought it out and gave it to us without a single word--do we test ride it, do we just leave with it, no explanation of features? Rode it around and the gears seem to stick, when we told them they gladly fixed and reassured us it wouldnt happen again.24 hour return policy only, so we tried it the next day and it did it again. We returned to the store to return the bike. Staff acted like we were crazy, that there was nothing wrong with the bike and made us feel bad for wanting to return a faulty product that they could not deem faulty. If you are ok getting subpar service or just browsing, check them out! But if you have any issues, they dont seem to be on your side. I feel bad leaving a poor review since the staff did try to help us quite a bit, it just seemed like they didnt want to help.

UPDATE - within minutes of posting the review the owner called me to see how he could help. I respect that a lot, as I felt he gave me multiple reasonable solutions to my issue.Terrible customer service, horrible experience, felt like they wanted me to just refund my purchase rather than be helped. This is the only place in California with the Marin San Quentin 1 so I had no choice but to purchase it from these clowns. I attempted to call multiple times to no avail. I spent 1000 dollars here, so I expected at least an ETA on when it would SHIP! I didnt feel like I was asking for much. After hours of annoyance and confusion I called them again to learn that they assumed I was going to drive from ORANGE COUNTY, CA to Palo Alto... 400+ mile drive to pickup my bike after I had paid $100 to bikeflights.com for shipping.I was told the bike would be delivered on the 14th of January, so fine I thought, at least I know when it will arrive. I called back on the 14th asking why my tracking number wasnt active and where my bike is, turns out they had yet to even print the label for my bike. Today is now January 19th and I have no idea where by bike is. Bikeflights cant help, but at least they made an effort. If you can manage it, do not buy from these people. Trust me its worth the wait for a local shop to just order it, Im planning to get a full refund if my bike doesnt arrive soon...Buyers be ware!

But after they finished half the repair (couldnt be done atm) they called me over so I can take the bike home and pay for the shifter replacement. They told me it was 60$ before tax and I told them it was 45$ as one of the guys told me it was 45 on the phone they gave me a price match in a heart beat. A+++ Service!Robert and Gregg were super helpful. I actually live in SoCal and I had been shopping online for a particular bike for my son. I thought that an internet purchase would be a pretty hassle-free experience, however...It turns out that online inventories arent always accurate and what a particular bike shop has in stock may not match what it says on a manufacturers website, nor the bike shops computer.I actually completed an online purchase, but when it was time for pickup at one particular shop, the bike they had built was of a different model, so I ended up canceling the transaction.Afterwards, I called around to find out who actually had the exact bike I was looking for physically in their store. One said they had it, and I was ready to make the purchase, but it turned out their inventory was off, as well, and they had actually sold it the day before. So, I was back to calling around and the bike was nowhere to be found, even though the bike shops online inventory did say they had one in stock. What was frustrating was that I had asked a couple of bike shops if they could physically check their stock room or showroom floor to verify if they actually had the particular bike I was looking for. They said they would call me back, but never did. I even followed up and they said that they were still trying to locate it.Until finally, I called Bike Connection in Palo Alto. They were very friendly and took the time to look around and make sure that the bike they had in their store was indeed the exact model I was looking for. I explained my situation to them and they gave me a couple of options:One was to drive up to Palo Alto (about 350 miles from me) to pick it up and the other was to have it shipped. I chose the latter.Since the bike was already built, they suggested that it would be best to have the bike shipped unassembled and have it sent to a local bike shop in my area for professional re-assembly.So, they disassembled and packed up the bike (free of charge) and referred me to a bike shipping company to pick up the box and ship it, which cost about 50 bucks with insurance via UPS. We had it sent to the original bike shop that had mixed up my initial purchase and they agreed to assemble the bike for me free of charge to make up for their mistake. All things considered, it was great experience, thanks in large part to Bike Connection. If Im ever up in Palo Alto, I will make sure to stop in and say hello (and perhaps make a purchase or two).

These guys are dishonest. Dont trust them. Heres my story.I came here to buy a bike for my daughter. We found one we liked after a bunch of test rides and put it on hold to pick up the next day. I come by the next day first thing in the morning, and surprise! The bike had been sold. The salesman apologized and said he had no idea what happened. I was surprised but willing to accept that mistakes happen. So we look around and try to find another bike. We find a similar model and tell the salesman that wed like to buy it. He looks the bike over, starts doing the paperwork and I pay. As the bike is in line to get prepped for delivery, I take a closer look at it and notice a lot of tell-tale signs of use.I ask the salesman whats up with that - is it used? He apologizes again, talks to his manager, and comes back and says, you know what - its part of our rental fleet. Do you want $50 off?I promptly ask for a refund and walk out.Two bad experiences in a row sounds like a pattern. That salesman is still working there as of this writing. Dont trust these guys.

Ive been in here a couple of times looking for bikes for my kids. Found some good options but ultimately bought somewhere else because the bikes fit better, but the crew here was very helpful, friendly and accommodating.I usually get my own bike worked on at a shop closer to home, but as I was here I asked if they could have a look. I was having some fairly pronounced creaking on a very expensive, high-end bike and all my usual haunts had work backlogs of a couple of weeks. I explained the problem and Manny took it out for a ride, and in a matter of minutes had diagnosed part of the issue and already adjusted the headset, eliminating a good bit of the issue. So rather than filling out forms and scheduling drop-offs, I was getting solutions. Good stuff.Dropped off the bike for a full workup and they took care of all of it. No more creaks anywhere on the bike and its running like a champ. Reasonable work rates, about on par with what Id expect around here. If youre from out of town labor here will seem expensive. Anyway. When I got the bike they had forgotten to do one of the things I paid for, but as soon as it was pointed out they dropped everything else and fixed it in 10 minutes. Didnt like finding the error, but cant complain about how they rectified it. Cant expect more that that. All in all very helpful and solution oriented. They dont sell my brand of bike but they seemed very up to date on how to address the problems for my particular headset, linkage and bottom bracket.I bought the bike on closeout online, so I understood I was going to have some work to do getting the setup perfectly dialed in. I had spoken to a local shop who is a dealer of my bike about working on it, and got the normal raised eyebrows about why dont you have it worked on where you bought it, which is fine and which I totally understand. Fair enough, and Id rather buy local but $1200 is too much a difference to pass up. Bike Connection just got it done with no questions and no hassle.On-floor inventory is pretty good. Fair selection of Santa Cruz mountain bikes, as well as Scott and Marin which have some pretty nice bikes in their lineups as well. My review is mostly about their repair shop. Mikes down the road has a significantly better on-floor selection of bikes.

So I can speak from a great deal of experience. I have encountered several different employees both in the sales and service/management departments. As someone who admits that he is not an expert in bicycles but still knows a good deal I can tell you that these people know less than nothing.I spoke with 3 different sales people on 3 different occasions. Conversations went from not knowing the difference between Shimano gearset lines to, when querying the detailed difference between two bikes, receiving a shrugged shoulder answer of well, uh, this one is a bit nicer. I did buy a bike from them due to their having the exact bike I wanted. But they didnt know how to fit me to a bike, they left several important bolts loose so that my bottle cage and handlebars almost fell off, and they couldnt figure out how to cut down a dropper seat post. Then on another occasion, the manager didnt know ANYTHING about rims. I showed him the detailed specs for a rim to be replaced, and he literally couldnt understand them and showed me a rim that was a completely different spec. The MANAGER, who also works in the tech part of the shop, which would explain the loose bolts on delivery. Stay way from this place. This is not your typical bike shop.

Hubby and I REALLY like this bike shop. This will be our second bike purchased here and we find this shop has a better selection and little better pricing than REI or Mikes. If you dont see what you like, theyll even help you search the internet for what you want so they can order it for you. Super friendly service, and Robert who sold & delivered my bike to my home in South San Jose even remembered us from two years ago. Our special Electra bike was ready on time and were headed there to pick it up now. If your lucky and get service from Robert, tell him Alice sent you. The one that bought the yellow Electra Tincino bike.
