I absolutely love this store! Thrifting is always hit or miss, but I have more hits here than misses that’s for sure. Definitely recommend! The staff are super friendly here, and the long line for selling AND for buying says a lot about this location. If you’re in town, you should absolurely check out this Buffalo Exchange!
Saturday I had a not so nice experience here and dont think I will be going back. I normally Love this one I stopped going to the one in NYC and was taking the drive down to Philly because everyone was nice and also I had gotten down to a T on what to sell here. Well things have changed in the last 3 months sense I had last been. I Normally make an appointment for the mornings but this time I decided to do an afternoon appointment. BIG MISTAKE! the girl who was my Buyer was tired after a long day and I do understand BUT when you want to work in this type of environment you have to adjust. I was her last buy and she rushed through it all stuff that I know they take she didnt take. She even passed on an Elton John shirt that I know was worth money. The worst thing she couldve said to me was that if I dont know them shes cant take it and she was only taking vintage t shirts that are single stitch. Ling story short she will have that place in a whole if she doesnt become better with her buys. And to tell a person that shell be fast because its time for her to go home... No maam not with me. She didnt even want to talk to me she was more interested into talking with her Co worker... Naw Im gonna pass Ill find another one my time is worth it no matter what! Yes Im selling but Im also human... Sorry not Sorry Sellers bewayre
I am from Philly but I now live in Newport News Virginia.. I will come allllllll the way from Virginia just to shop at The Buffalo Exchange in Center City Philly!! I love love love this store SPECIFICALLY. ❤️
High-End & Vintage clothing/accessories/jewelry/footwear Thrift & Consignment store.
Not to complain but I brought my clothes there name brand items over 20 pcs they wanted to give me $60 and a woman had half the stuff no name brand and got $130 dont wanna throw race in there but im wondering.Took a month for it all to sell on Ebay $1400
Friendly service, great merchandise and prices! Another customer helped me pick out clothes! Great place! Prayers.
The clothes I tried to sell were very good items but it seems that they were to good for the store it looks like its just a very expensive GOOD WILL.
When I went there, my card had issues and taking a while to be scanned by the card reader. The cashier apologized and I said no worries. I know whats it like to be a cashier, and I was in no rush. Also, I checked behind me, and there were no other customers behind me. My card declined, so I started looking through my other shopping bags for another one. The cashier was so rude and dismissive about it. I dont think I took longer than two minutes before she asked quickly if she could get the manager. I said no its fine, and I asked her about other ATMs in the area, so I could grab some cash and come back. She acted so weird about it. She said I dont know, and I couldve sworn she rolled her eyes. I kept calm because maybe this happens a lot and she didnt believe me..? But that was so rude. I came back and got my belongings in less than five minutes and was helped by a more professional associate. I havent gone back since.
Its a total hipster yard sale with retail prices. Dude for 10 more bucks you can buy that item you want for new on Ebay.
Garbage. one of the staff members racially profiled my friend. a grown, white woman claimed that he “stole” a shirt and staff believed her without any evidence. he didnt even have a bag on his inventory. all he did was hold the shirt and he was still in the process of shopping in the store. staff then proceeded to kick him out. they ruined his experience, this was his favorite store.
This was a good experience for me. the people was very nice and reusable.i will be going back again.
Be careful this place is super addictive! I absolutely love this store. I can go in here any day of the week and find something high and or designer for a bargain price. It takes time, shopping is not quick, the best time to arrive as early in the morning before the clothes have been rummaged through. If youre looking to sell your clothes here you need to be very aware of Trends.I recommend calling ahead of time and asking them what they are accepting. Ask for details if you arent sure what the trends are asked them, they will tell you.The traffic here can get pretty busy in the afternoons and evenings when people get off work so the earlier in the day you can arrive the smoother your shopping trip will be.
Clean and well-appointed, worth zeroing in for what you need. Somehow was unable to buy any extra-large garment sizes for my woman friend. As many reviewers indicate, most Buffalo Exchanges, including my experience from those in NYC, buy little or nothing, and simply pay little.
If you’re a true thrifter, you won’t like this store. Everything is mainstream and basic; stuff from forever 21 or fashinova. Nothing is vintage. If you like basic, “what everyone is wearing now” but for a dollar or 2 less than you’d pay if it were new, this is the “thrift” store for you lolThings here are generally overpriced.
Always find great good quality outerwear and friendly staff. Good variety and well organized for a second hand store.
Waited in line just for them to tell me they are appointment-only for selling clothes. Would’ve been nice if they had made that known instead of wasting my time
Just left Buffalo Exchange to sell some mens clothing. I had an appointment, but there was still a line - about a 20 minute wait. I brought one bag of button up shirts. They accepted about half. They really dont want dress shirts and the like - suits, trousers, etc. are not part of their interest. I walked away with about $85. I would have liked a bit more, but happy to see a segment of our closet pared down. The buyer was extremely nice! Ive also found some treasures here over the years, including a stunning Kate Spade bag for just $35.
Long wait due to Covid-19 restrictions, once inside, store was well lit and clean. No debris inside or outside, clothing racks were well stocked well many nice selections. Only annoyed by lines.
It depends on what style you like to wear. There is a variety of different shoes, clothes, bags and holiday attire. Some times you will find what you are looking for and other times you dont.
Like a thrift store, but more of a greedy capitalist middle man!
Awesome thrift store to find some steals if you’re into fashion and clothing. It’s hard to go in and not walk out with a deal on something. The staff is super particular with what they want when it comes to trade ins so call ahead and ask or you will walk out with the clothes you wanted to get rid of.
The staff was very friendly but the guy who be answering calls is giving out wrong information I asked him do they take anything brand name he said yes then got there they don’t take name brand clothes they will take shoes but not name brand like hmm forever21 n American eagle I was really lil upset because I had a lot of clothes to give they wouldn’t take n it was in good condition n they get u but getting 150 store credit or take 95 in cash for experience I had today I Suggest people to just donate /sell shoes…..
Great pickings. Unique finds🤗
After 2 different trips I realized they will buy very little from you and what they do buy they pay next to nothing. Staff are mehh and windows were filthy. Sorry they dont deserve a pic.
This store is amazing, you can found really silk. Also you can find virgin wool coats, and for those who consider the beautiful accessory of hats I recommend it.
I tried selling to them. Took a lot of time and effort and zero results. They bought nothing and I sent high quality stuff. Disappointed and frustrated. Would never do again, with them or another similar service. Youre better off selling your stuff on ebay.
It’s just ok nothing to crazy for me it’s worth checking out u can bring clothes in for money if they are stylish.
This store has no plus sized selection. That means they dont buy clothes that are plus sized.
Great finds if you have the time
I dropped 3 bags of clothes a few days ago and all of them were in good condition. I didnt get a single penny. They were like its out of fashion. Hated the service and the whole process is just a scam. Never ever going there and selling my stuff!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!
A great place for unique, gently used clothing finds at great prices. You can also bring in your clothes for sale.
Tried the place out today. Definitely better than expected. Needed some shoes to walk around in while exploring Philly because the one I had was hurting my feet. Lots of great finds and reasonably priced
They surprisingly took shirts I didnt expect (Old Jcrew shirts, Old Navy Striped, Express Long sleeves). It seems theyre stocking up for Fall season and was happy to get what got in store credit.Friendly, relaxed shopping atmosphere. Youre thrift picking so the excitement is in the searching! I liked how you can sell old clothes and buy your new style. A++!
Friendly staff but was very disappointed with the store and its buying policy...after reading about the store on its website and calling the store I truly was hoping it would be a much better experience than other trading/ buying stores. Buffalo Exchange also wants very current merchandise, and its hit or miss on what they are looking for on that particular day. I called ahead and asked what they were looking for and the response was coats and sweaters. So I brought a lot of coats and sweaters but they 2 sweaters and no coats! Ugh! But at least they were very kind about it!
It was quite busy and a fairly compact space so it was a little hard to move around, but that really didnt matter. Everyone was pretty polite.the clothes they have are well priced and of seemingly infinite variety. I will definitely return.
Great Selection of Clothes
Went to try out this place today. This place is HEAVEN!I found a vintage dress from the 1960s. Its what Ive been looking for, for years! And everyone was very sweet. You made my day! Thanks!
Good clothing and great prices.
Definitely scored some great items here. Sometimes can be pretty packed but the staff tries to go as quickly as they can. Bonus points for having a very friendly staff.
I was a bit surprised at how this place operated, I had previously gone to a Buffalo Exchange in D.C. and had a far better experience in selling clothes. I understand that selections are need based for inventory, however I was surprised that the same pair of pants that I brought in a week before (that were rejected) were accepted. A weeks difference. I hate to say it but it definitely doesnt always have a clear message about what types of clothing they need - definitely feels elitist and catered to buyers personal sense of fashion rather than the needs of the store.
I really like this store. They have cute fun things and they stay current. but I do think that selling your stuff there can be kind of a rip off since you only get 50% of what its worth. But I really enjoy shopping there. Always find cute unusual things.
Always love coming here and hunting for good finds. Not a thrift store, not a consignment shop - you get the best of both worlds: great deals on gently used, new, & vintage clothing/shoes/accessories- without having to sort through ancient/stained/out of style nonsense.
Great, courteous staff. Wide selection and variety for the most part.
Loving all the bad reviews that complain that they don’t pay enough when you sell there. Uh, that’s how businesses work? Buy low, sell high? And the staff isn’t rude. Maybe you were rude to them? I’m here plenty, and it’s basically a trendy thrift store, precisely as advertised. Scored some cool stuff, never had a problem.
Definitely a great place to get clothes. Favorite thrift shop by far, if you can call it that. Its more pricey than other thrift shops, but definitely still cheap, and the clothes are brought in by other people who no longer wore them. The style is very urban (being in the center of Philly) and thats probably why Im so drawn to it. Ive never found anything in other thrift shops that I like at all, but here I have too many things that I like and I never have enough to buy all of them, so I settle for 4-5 things, typically. Go here to go clothes shopping before anywhere else, they have a wide selection and options for everyone.
I called late on a Monday evening and they said sure come on by. I brought alot of vintage clothing from my mom and they were so grateful for the items. They treated each item with respect and it made me so happy that I had found a place where her things would be appreciated. Stop by and see the lovely things they sell. They are very particular about what they keep and what they sell.
I discovered Buffalo Exchange about a month ago and have been hooked ever since! They sell gently used clothes at very reasonable prices. All of the clothes are name brand and in very good shape. The employees are awesome too
They give you dirt money for what you give, granted its because you can easily get money for your stuff or credit like a clothes gamestop type deal. They only have 1 person working at the selling station, very slow. The person who accepts clothes will not take your cheap h & m, or forever 21 clothes. However depending on the person working they may or may not accept your other higher end clothes. So I would recommend bringing your clothes at least twice because the second or third person might actually like your clothes. Whole experience very dependent on whos working.
I love buffalo exchange. There are always such unique finds. The recent renovations look great too! The staff is always so welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
I love Buffalo exchanged because they have some good clothing and bags there I like thats on of my favorite flea market store top of the list .
Great items, great staff, and a super chill environment with great music choice! I have bought and sold here and it’s a great one-stop-shop for a wardrobe refresh.
I wanted to sell my clothed and the manager isnt willing to take any of my clothes that I offered. If you wanted to sell any clothes here, its advised that yoy take it with a grain of salt and asked what brands do they offer. At least the manager told of a nearby donation center I can use.
I wonder what a hipster attitude is ...ANYWAY, great clothes at reasonable prices. Friendly staff, who smile and are often very helpful. They may buy your old clothes and they offer to donate unwanted clothing. Great store!
The only reason why I dont give a five star is that they are somewhat pricey. They havent always been that way I dont know what happen to them. Maybe its because people made them what they are today? Maybe their clothes are trendy? Niece clothes other people bring them, still a second hand shop. They only give %15 back to the cosigners
This place is a great thrift store. They do a good job making sure that the clothes are wearable, in good condition and fashionable. My favorite part of the store is the vintage rack. It is a small section, but I always find something I love there.
As a customer, this is a great store. Good quality clothes, friendly staff, and a clean storefront. However, when selling they are rather lackluster. Asked the staff member behind the counter if shoes would be rejected based on size and was assured that nothing would be rejected due to size, but only condition. I tried to sell some name brand sneakers in mint condition and was told, less than a minute after being assured it wouldnt be an issue, that they would be too hard to sell due to size & was turned away. I understand certain sizes are difficult to sell but the staff contradicts themselves when it comes to their buying policy.
Thank you for letting me share my review with you. Your buyers make selections based on the style and the condition of the items rather than focusing on the brand names, so i kept that in mind when selecting what clothes to bring in to the store. I know you also pay attention to inventory needs and what currently is selling in your particular store that moment. So i made sure to follow what your store needed, from what was written on the website and what written on the chalkboard in store. Im aware your inventory needs to change on a regular basis. Which i made sure to keep in mind while selecting what to bring in. Checking everyday that what’s requested for is what I bring. At the end of my experience selling clothes there, I left very disappointed. I would had understood if I brought random items in. But i went in with full intentions of selling things because i needed money. I brought in things I didn’t want to sell. But figured my nice in season requested clothes would at least have me leaving with some money.
Great items. Great prices. Great staff ❤ my favorite place to shop in the world, no exaggeration.
Its a second hand store with very nice options. The display doesnt help a lot, it makes the room feel crowded. The staff is a coin flip, some of them at super nice and other not at all.
Buyers are very selective about what styles they will accept, and for what price. They also get over on sellers with pricing for items. They have people with no style determining what style is. Not a good experience at all, and all my items were new with tags on them. I feel like I got robbed.
I love that store all the workers are considered to me like family. Such a welcoming awesome and well matters people. The best hide place for name brands .
Not a lot of choices!
I love this place! They have really cool stuff in great prices. So instead of searching for clothes in many stores, I have everything in one store. They do the job for me, and I save a lot of time and money.
I recently sold some items to Buffalo Exchange and would rate it as a very positive experience. Its true that they only took about a third of what I brought in, but they are buying rather than consigning so they have to buy only what sells. I certainly dont begrudge them that. The two buyers I worked with were very nice, saying things like these are cute but this season were looking more for X - not making me feel badly that I was proffering items they didnt want. I took what they did not buy away with me - selling some on ebay, donating some, and setting some aside to bring back when theyre more in season (per the buyers advice).
Fine for selling clothes, if you dont take it personally when they reject something. youll get more money elsewhere but for the effort, this is a decent place to make some quick cash for your unwanted items.
Great on-trend and wonderful fashions at reasonable (not cheap though) prices. And real nice, helpful and cool employees.
Since moving into town weve gone in and sold a lot of our bulk vintage stuff to Buffalo Exchange instead of driving back up to New York to do it. The staff have been very friendly and treat us very well. Best of all they seem to enjoy when we come in with 6 trash bags FULL of stuff and usually take quite a bit of it, which really helps us to clear out some of our storage space and puts some money in our pockets. I usually find a piece or two to purchase whenever I go in too. Glad to have this place around :)
This place has quality items for a good price. My teenage daughters exchange their old stuff for store credit often. Great selection of boots
Nightmare of a thrift store. Dont take time out cha day to sell clothes here, dey give u da completely low price on anything u bring in IF dey dont reject it all togetha. Low class, unfriendly service
Never sell here! I brought in two full bags of clothes and they took nothing. I proceeded to sell those same clothes at Platos Closet and they gave me almost $70! Dont shop here either, their clothes are overpriced!
They tend to need a lot more mens clothes than womens so I usually do pretty well when I sell my clothes. I dont always find stuff when I go to thrift stores and I feel the same way about here. Its all about the hunt. Many of these other reviewers need to chill.
Dont waste time to come here, they even rejected my Michael Kors outwear, and its almost new, only worn once !! and other T-shirts i never wear, even has tags on them, still, rejected.....the lady was chatting with others when browsing my items, i feel she even didnt look carefully of the brands and quality!! its just totally wasting time, i will never come back.
Decent selection of clothing and sneakers. Definitely taxing on clothes though. A lot of the prices are retail or very near retail for used clothes. The only way to get a good deal is to bring in old clothes. Theres some clothes with rips and dookie stains that are still overpriced. Only redeeming quality about the store is how well the sneakers are priced which is why im giving 3 stars. Also i give them kudos for not giving out plastic bags and for offering reusable totes.
I Have to go pick up some Versace slip ons today from there..i love this place.
This location has very nice selection of clothes and decently priced although I wish they would have larger sizes in shoes for women
Based on my observations, I discovered a purchasing pattern amongst the “different” sellers. There was a notable discrepancy in approval of certain types versus others. But I guess, it is Gentrification City - I mean Center City. This dude obnoxiously stood over our shoulders scrutinizing every single fabric of a resale store! Never again...Goodwill here we come!
Used to be lit
I always find awesome stuff here and at great prices. This is my favorite location because they always have cool and unique items.
I had been here a couple times, mostly normal visits, noticing that the line was always long to sell, so I thought this was normal. I went in today to sell something, beforehand looking at the website. It said to call beforehand, but I went in a few times before, so I thought it would be fine. I got in at 7:15, the sales associate working on buying clothes was with someone, and there were 2 people waiting in front of me. The associate said they were no longer taking sales past 7 because there werent enough people to go through the clothes. As I said, there were 2 people in front of me, and someone being waited on, when there is usually a line around the store to sell. I explained that I had taken a train from far (and needed to get rid of my clothes, thinking I wouldnt have them on the way back), but none of the sales associates would accept my explanation. Like I also said, I looked on the website, and it did NOT say this. Needless to say, I spent round trip in train fair and a bunch of time to be 15 minutes late and for them to tell me I couldnt sell. I also only had one small bag of clothes. They didnt care and were not flexible at all.
Confessions of a shopaholic,Buffalo Exchange is my weakness I love it so much, nothing could change that. Not kidding my whole closet is thrifted from their. I found a brand new BCBG suede leather jacket for $32 it’s worth $400..... I could go on about all the cute stuff I got that’s great quality.Let’s talk about the staff - every store I’ve been too I adore the staff, most quirky artsy hipster people ever! Always super nice as well!Buffalo exchange gang if you read this I love you forever and always. 💕
Ive been shopping here for many years and I notice as the years go on their prices have increased and their selection has decreased.. I rarely shop here anymore, but still pop in once in a blue, I just dont see too much of anything I like anymore.. maybe its because everyone shops here, who knows.. but I mean, the womens selection is ridiculous. maybe they need to add more clothes in the mens department...
Very nice shop! I got a very pretty scarf at a reasonable price! Plus, it did not have that thrift shop smell!
The staff is good, BUT when I went to your store in Philadelphia two days ago and stood in line for 25 minutes to make a rather large purchase. Finally, I gave up when I realized that there is NO SIGN to indicate that the line I was standing in, was the WRONG line...the one to SELL. I walked out. This is a total rape of my time and time is precious.
The stuff is a bit hit or miss but when its good its really good. The mens section isnt huge but they have a decent amount of stuff. If youre looking for a unique piece but nothing too specific definitely look here.
Don’t waste your time - they shrugged off high end trend pieces of mine (no wear) and their selection of clothing is of poor quality. Better finds at Goodwill.
Wonderful experience!! Very nice staff. Definitely recommend going there to buy or sell!!
While the merchandise is better than the average second hand store quality before I went to the checkout a friend suggested that we look at old navy prices I actually walked one block to old navy and spent less than I would have at Buffalo on an outfit bottom line Ive learned is that Buffalo is paying very little for clothes and charging too much
Fantastic place to find reputable brands. Highly recommend visiting between Tuesdays and Thursdays for less traffic.
Its actually a nice store you can find hidden gems like ( Banana Republic, Gucci, Calvin Klein, and etc) you just have to go frequently because people sell their stuff on a daily basis.
I love that the Halloween costumes are out early, and organized by size! And that the clearance racks are out simultaneously (in the past, the clearance rack was replaced by the costume rack).
They purchase very few items that you attempt to sell them. For this to be a vintage store, they dont seem to like to buy the vintage clothing you bring in. And they offer few dollars for what they do buy.
When I called (twice) to inquire about selling my clothes I was not told that I had to be 18 or older to do so and when I went down there I was unaware of that so I had to carry all of my clothes back home. The store overall is great and I like that I can find designer and good quality clothes for such a reasonable price.
This place is addictive. If you dont mind looking through racks and racks to find your perfect look. There is something here for everybody. This shop offers womens, mens, career, casual and elegant looks to enjoy. Most things are new or gently used. Ive found, shoes. jackets, jeans and jewlrey that I would never find anywhere else. Shopping here adds to my quirky, unique sexy style. Their return policy is very customer friendly and often times while shopping, people bring items in to re-sell. I dare you to not find atleast two cute items per visit!
They have some pretty good pieces as far as buying, but if youre looking to sell stay away. I gave them 3 pairs of expensive shoes and a J.Crew jean jacket and they tried to give me $37. Smh.
Great selection. Something new everyday, this place is very addictive
I used to love BE, but some of the buyers can be condescending and dismissive, and given how selective they are Id rather just shop anyway. They do have some gems from time to time though. Like the mint aqua Bo Jackson Nikes I got for $25, or the $200 Armani watch I picked up for $28.
Selling to them is literally a JOKE! I sold some perfectly new UGG booties and they gave me $12 for them. I could have sold them on Let Go or Depop and got more for them.
Terrible (attempted) sale of Jackets. I called prior, asked if they bought winter coats, they said yes just bring a valid ID. I go down, park blocks away, enter the store n wait over 30 min in line. One employee was taking sellers as 4-5 lurked behind her enjoying their down time. Eventually another woman opened. Got up to the cashier for her to say they box year old coats only, but I can return in the fall for mine. I called knowing they were more than a few years old. If they are that strict about what coats they take now, they should of mentioned it. Complete waste of time.
