This neighbor hood is improving very slowly. Its a good area. It have dollar stores. And gas stations. Save alot not far away. It also have heavy traffic. Drug and drug addicts not to far away. I took some photos of houses. That was vacant. To show that its room for improvement.

The customer service I have had here is excellent and Im happy to have fresh options nearby. However, its extremely disappointing that they arent very conscientious of the community they are serving. Most of the products they carry are so overpriced, it makes it yet another inaccessible option in a neighbour that already experiences food apartheid. Its extremely heartbreaking to me to see this happening. Better to just walk to Riverwards.

Awesome local grocery store. They always have fresh produce, delicious pastries and plenty of meat options. Love that they try to source local options when possible and seek to provide access to healthy and quality food in the neighborhood. They also have a great local beer selection!

So glad that this opened up in the Kensington neighborhood!! They are still working on fully stocking shelves and figuring out the needs and wants of customers, but so far, so good. They have a nice, albeit small selection of produce, dry goods, spices, coffee, dairy, meat, snacks, and personal care items. Not to mention a bar and cafe!! The store is reasonably priced, which is maybe the most important thing. Sure, you wont be paying bottom dollar like some other stores. But, you are paying for quality and are helping support the local economy and providing jobs for your neighbors!

To the two women who were working Thursday August 12 at noon:. This isnt riverwards. If you dont want to smile, greet customers and if you make two people wait to check out while we watch you organize produce, why are you working with the public? Every other time here is terrible and even though I became a member, this is why I almost never go. You charge too much to be this rude.

Their selections are okay, no complaints. I like the fresh produce near to where I live, especially the organic choices. Before Corona I shopped at Whole Foods and Moms in Center City. Both of those stores have high prices, but KCFC beats them both. Its a small store they can be a little more conscientious about buying quality products at a lower price. An $8.00 bottle of pineapple juice??? No way!

This place has been vacant for years. Use to be a bar called Shannons, but once it closed down, nothing has been here since. Ive heard a couple times there was suppose to be something coming here and nothing happened, so it would be great to have something useful here. *UPDATE: AS OF 5/10/19 THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOW OPEN*

I visit the folks at KCFC probably once a week. The selection for the must haves is phenomenal. I usually purchase bread, milk, eggs, and whatever else tickles my fancy. I have tried their meat and fish and its always fresh and ready for me to transform into a meal that gets deposited in my facehole. I wouldnt change much. But, could it kill ya to stock some regular snacks. I would probably go hog wild if I didnt have to buy newmans own orieos or corn chips that are 3 dollars over tostitos. I dont need bespoke snacks. Give me a grease bomb or something that I can satisfy my urge without feeling a cloud of shame over the price. Sincerely, a food fan.

This coop is an incredible resource for the community. The bulk spices and staples are amazing- great prices and very fresh. The cafe is also great- it has a happy hour worth traveling for, though I don’t have to.Of course, the food is just one way this place makes a positive impact. After I was struck by a car while riding my bicycle on Frankford, the employees assisted me as I waited for medical attention and helped me recover my bicycle after the fact. I am extremely grateful to them and I hope this place is around for many years to come.

Similar sentiment as expressed in other reviews. As a long time member of the community I was excited to hear a co-op was opening within walking distance that would feature fresh, healthy and organic foods. To my complete disappointment, this ‘community based’ co-op charges $200 a year for membership in order to have a say in the ‘community’ Which does not include any sort of food discount. Members and non members pay $10 for a pound of butter, $8-9 for a gallon of milk. This is not a co-op wanting to become a part of the already existing community, but rather a way to alienate and exclude the long standing community. It’s appealing only to those who are contributing to the insatiable desire to gentrify the area.

Pros: Metropolitan bakery/Lost Bread Co., Good prices on bulk pantry ingredients and a bar next door to grab a delicious pint before/after grocery shopping?! Yes pleaseCons: very little items in stock in general/lots of empty shelves, very little meat options, produce is seriously lacking, prices are really steep and it really doesnt reflect what regular people need to eat/cook on an everyday basisI get going Organic, but not everyone can afford $5.99 for a dozen eggs when you can get them around the corner for $1.79

Was psyched to be able to walk to a grocery store with organic foods, bulk dry goods (and spices!) (and tea!) and fresh produce. Its also a community owned co-op -- like Weavers Way or Mariposa (or Park Slope Co-op) which is awesome (I am a member of the co-op).also the take out beer, and tap selection is usually on point. Singlecut beers are SO GOOD.

I wanted to support this place. Really, I did. Kensington is truly a food desert, all our fresh options are usually rotting or on their way to rotting. We can’t afford to go to better grocery stores because they’re too far away and they’re too expensive. So when I heard the co-op was finally being built, I was excited. Finally, there would be fresh and healthy food at an affordable price. Finally, those who struggle, those who have been in this neighborhood for years and struggling with the poverty can access the fresh and healthy food we need.No.All the food is horrifically overpriced. Black beans are 3-4$. Fruits and vegetables vary in price but overall lean on the expensive side. Everything is organic, which is great! but that means it is all a lot of extra money. If you want to provide expensive options- great. But at least provide a cheap option.Bags of peas are over 2 - 3$ EACH. Frozen peas. I usually buy them for ~1.These may seem like small numbers, but they add up. Quickly. If you’re going to come to the neighborhood and claim to provide fresh food and healthy food- make it accessible to more than just the white gentrifiers you employ.

We recently moved to the area and are thrilled to have KCFC within walking distance! Sure, the produce might cost a little more than it does down the road at Save a Lot, but its better quality and more local. And, all in all, the produce prices arent astronomical. Weve found the prices to be more affordable and the quality to be on par with or better than Riverwards Produce a bit farther up the road. The cafe and bar has an incredible back patio that is perfect for happy hour before getting your groceries. One thing I would suggest is offering better coffee - sure, a cup of drip coffee is cheap here but neither my husband or I liked it at all. If there was better brewed coffee wed be here for coffee ALL the time!KCFC is a treasure in the Kensington community, and well do our part to make sure it sticks around for a long time!

Over priced goods, which at times is not in peak condition. Likewise, a horribly managed organizational structure. This results in a mediocre at best experience. Im typing this when there was supposed to be a board meeting, to meet the board candidates at 6pm. Its 6:30 not a sole is here. This place will not survive.
