Nice selection of fresh, raw, and frozen seafood. They also have a great assortment of different foods that are cooked as well. There are live fish that can be butchered and cut to your liking. The prices vary as the selection but they are fair. Everything appears fresh and well organized for easy selecting. They have everything you can name, and even some things you cant.

Its not the kind of place you go to for the atmosphere or a 5 Star meal but if you want want a good fish sandwich thats big and a great value this is the place your looking for. The sides and soup were not that good but fries and fish were delicious. Indoor dining was closed 9-1-21 but they had outside tables set up next to there parking lot at the end of the block on the other side of the street. The parking in there lot is free while you shop.

In all honesty a delight. This place had a wide range of sea food including fresh, frozen and still living. There is a grocery and meat market that has a wide variety. They make fresh squeezed orange juice. There are cute animatronics that can be interacted with by pressing red buttons.On site hot food is great and there is a sushi place with a wide range of sushi either nigiri or maki rolls. The people who work there are pleasant as can be. Definitely a place to go, see and shop.

I can not begin to say how much I have missed Wholeys. Being gone from PGH I have professed my loyalty far and wide to this treasure of a place. Just the presence of it warmed my heart but the sights, the scents, the memories make me happy...and yeah, you still rock that lobster bisque!!

Such a fun experience on the strip. Its a great place to stop to get fish / seafood / shellfish and whatever you may want to go with it. the selection is well varied and everything seems fresh.

Just a fantastic place to shop. Everything in the world is in this place. Ive been going there for yrs. The customer service is always great. And even the customers just seem to relax in the store.

Absolute behemoth when it comes to fresh seafood. Just based on its selection should get 5 stars but it adds sushi and hot food bar. BE WARNED while the hot food bar tastes great it is practically fried food but has pretty high prices especially for the sides. I mean 7 dollars for a couple of fried scallops. The crab sandwich is huge and everything is fried with old bay so if you like that you will like the foods they have.

The fish sandwich was terrific. Wish the dining room would open. It was cold today eating at the picnic tables!

Very helpful staff. An enormous variety of fresh seafood and meats. Wholey privately brands many items and they are all excellent in quality. Prepared foods are available at reasonable prices. A real Pittsburgh tradition which is always worth a shopping experience.

Every trip to Wholeys is an amazing experience. Come here for fresh fish, great fish prices, and a bunch of things youve never seen before. But the best thing by far, is Andy and his sushi. In a bad mood? Andys delightful demeanor will cheer you up, and just wait till you try his amazing sushi ;)

Omg! The size of the crab legs, lobster and shrimp was unbelievable. The other meats and items were abundant and fresh. The place was very clean. Im from Ohio and Im willing to drive their several times a year.

Andys sushi bar inside is absolutely the most precious and the best sushi Ive ever had he never seems to amaze me everything is never overfresh or underfresh The vegetables you avocados, a cucumbers. So amazed by this place. He really has a passion for it. He made me a shrimp, crab meat, spearmint, mango, avocado and cucumber sushi roll it was delicious. Also he made me a tuna one with avocado and cucumber That was delicious also. Thank you Andy thank you will always come back 👍💪🙌🙏❤️❤️❤️

This place is heavenly for seafood lovers. The market has it all: 🦀 🐟 🐚 don’t over do it with the restaurant order like we did 😅 try the sushi inside as well 👍🏼 .. we prefer the summer lobster rolls that they serve during summertime

I use to love this place. While the market and food are still just as good, all seating and restrooms have been closed. And you dont realize it until after you get your food. No advance notice of this closure whatsoever. You are left standing in the street to eat your food. Fortunately, 1700 Penn, just across the street were nice enough to let me sit inside and enjoy my meal. I did get a pint at 1700 as well.

Largest selection of fish & seafood around.Some fish cost more than a steak.Parking is limited & police little to eager to write a ticket.I would suggest a parking garage to alleviate the problem but make it affordable. All in all a great place for people if all ethnic groups .It reminds my wife & I of the markets in the Philippines. 👍

Love wholleys but Ill share my disappointing experience with some of their employees maybe someone up there reads. I was there yesterday checking out and the girl that scanned me was clearly high, tried to hand my receipt to her coworker that was helping her bag for a solid minute before she realized she wasnt the customer. Jokes on me shouldve been a red flag to check the receipt. Anyways of course I was double charged for stuff. Called and they were like oh bring the receipt back and we will credit you, not caring that I live an hour away. You want your customer to drive back park in the strip and walk in to fix a mistake you they didnt make?

An amazing place that has reawakened my love for seafood, and I am pleasantly surprised that Pittsburgh has great seafood. The fish here is fresh, like still living. Definitely definitely worth a visit, and Im upset that I wont have an opportunity to eat everything

Best fish sandwich around, 1/2 pounders to full pound. Outdoor tables across the street. Remember the birds like Frank’s hot sauce too. More selections of fish than you will find anywhere, both alive, fresh and frozen. The food area and restrooms get trashed and needs a good cleaning more often, otherwise the fish are cleaner. Can eat outside now by the parking lot

This place is great! They sell a lot more than seafood. Check out Kevin Solecki outside on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to noon...accordionist extraordinaire!

Love! Stop for lunch. Stop to shop. They have it all. Someones working in every station. Ppl filleting fish, someone making sausage, someone else making fudge. We always stop on our trip to the Strip. Grandma loves the lobster bisque. Cajun crab dip. Homemade seasonings and hot sauces. If you want it -Wholeys has it. Plus across the store they have animatronic puppets that sing and they have free ice for the long trip home. Trust me. Bring a cooler.

Love the place . 2nd time I was there. Prices are great. Biggest selection Ive ever seen...BUT, I had a guy following me through the whole store telling me to pull my mask up over my nose. The 1st time I said okay and did it.The second time I said okay and did it. Thats when I saw he was following us around. If there had been a third time. I would have handed him my basket and walked out. 6 signs posted everywhere. He didnt care about that one. If you are the guy and you read this. I may not come back to your store. I can always order on-line.

This is the 2nd time, I went home an open up my meat, to find out it was spoiled. First time, it was smoked turkey parts. Yesterday, it was pork chops. It really turned me off. The employees, were kind, and gave me a in store refund. But being that its the second time, its pretty discouraging.

Went for one thing and that was gumbo crabs, but when I picked up a pack there was a dead mouse in the freezer. Made me sick to my stomach. I dont think Ill ever go back. No I didnt make a seen I just told who I think was the manager. He apologized told me it must of feel from the ceiling. Now Im scared to walk thru the place fear that one might fall on me. Was the best place to buy seafood but I wont anymore.

Absolutely one of the best places to eat in all of Pittsburgh. If your visiting or live here and have never tried there food your crazy. Fish sandwhich is legendary, there crab cake sandwhich is by far my favorite. Also try there wings, for a fish place they may have some of the best wings Ive ever had.

We drive 50 minutes to buy our salmon here. Its amazing! A guy named Rob helped me in the fresh cut salmon area. He was very knowledgable and friendly.

One crazy and amazing market. Heavy on the seafood but plenty of excellent choices for beef, pork and chicken as well. Small vegetable area also and we bought some fresh squeezed orange juice chilled and so delicious. After the sample we bought a small bottle to drink as we walked the Strip. Wish we had a place like this at home. And dont forget to put some change into Rachel the pig on your way out - for charity after all.

I hadn’t been in this market in over twenty years. My first experience was horrible. I was there about three weeks ago and let me tell you it was an amazing experience. The fresh fish, fresh vegetables and just everything was clean and the staff I encountered was very friendly and professional. I’m going back this morning.

Parking was crazy, blue crabs barely legal. Was looking to buy blue crabs and see if they carried frozen breaded oysters. Paid 10.00 to park for 10 minutes. Should try another time to give it a fair evaluation.

Love this place. Go here couple times a month to get big Maine lobsters. They have huge seafood selection and great meats too. Only place I can get pineapple deli ham. They also honor us Veterans with a 10% discount on Mondays. So I honor them right back by only buying from them.

There is certainly a wide variety but you will be paying a premium for it. For frozen seafood you are way better off going to Sams Club if you need bulk or Whole Foods as the price for frozen food is high here. For fresh seafood it’s still high but more reasonable but they have a nice variety

Meat and fish store in strip. Fresh fish, hand cut, lot of wild caught varieties with farm based too. Live fish and crabs in tanks that we can choose. Rabbit, beef, chicken, Turkey name it they have it. Decent varieties of fresh veggies. Wholeys special sauce available in the billing counters. Cooked crab soup was available. Fresh squeezed orange juice. If you love eating fish dont miss this place. The parking across the place is free if you buy stuff in the store.

I order beef bacon online from Wholey’s . It is delicious and arrives very quickly. I appreciate this place because the rest of the world stopped selling beef bacon when COVID hit .

This is an amazing fish market that is so much more than its name! It has fish, meats, food, and more! I just happened to walk by here and saw it was quite popular. I walked in and got so excited! Fresh fish, restaurant inside, sushi bar, and an entire meat isle too. The staff is super friendly and if you come here you have to get food - whether it be from the restaurant (I recommend the Lobster Mac&Cheese) or the sushi bar (I recommend the kani & spicy tuna roll). The fish are beautiful and fresh! The atmosphere is cultural and a great local market that I am surprised is not packed. If you are in Pittsburg and want to see something unique and get a bite to eat - COME HERE!

This review is based on the hot foods only.The coating on my Wholey Moley fish sandwich was not crispy and it was anything but large (see picture). The Mancini bun was dark, dry and flavorless. The lobster Mac and cheese was terrible. The macaroni was like mush and there was no cheese sauce. It was like paste. The fries were cooked to perfection but ruined by being way too salty. My wifes oyster sandwich was delicious and the only decent part of our meal. All this for $32. What a joke.

This fresh and frozen fish market, meat market and fresh vegetables market is different than any store in the greater Pittsburgh area. It has a longstanding presence in the Strip District. There is an upstairs dining area for you to eat the freshly cooked meal you just purchased. This is a must place to visit when at the Strip District!

I love wholeys I go there for the crab legs. I also get bulk steaks there and roasts. My children love the train that runs around the top of the store as well as the random pig display in the back. The fresh swimming fish are nice touch to the atmosphere. It smells like fish so bad in here so if you can’t handle the ocean times 70 don’t go here LOL I walk in like AHHHHH welcome home! Highly suggest getting the homemade chips as well as the fresh squeezed orange juice and any other thing that they offer that they’re doing right there Yum Yum Yum!

Family own one of my favorite place to get fresh food fish meat and hot food, grocery shopping. Been going there since Ive been a child with my grandparents.

Second time ordering from them online, and I am so happy every time! I sent seafood down to my parents in Florida, and they love this gift. Ordered a gift on 12/21/2020 and package received 48 hours later right before Christmas!

Okay i may have to get a bit in depth here so bear with me please:Seeing as how i am from NYC, where seafood is king, i walked into this establishment thinking it was going to be lack luster compared to the markets i am used to. Boy was i WRONG. this market not only sells live, none frozen, and frozen seafood meat and produce. A resident SUSHI BAR as well as a hot food counter. I spent 300$ on sushi made by Andy who is definitely the main attraction to the establishment in my honest opinion and i absolutely loved it. My friends and i finished the whole platter in under an hour. The prices are absolutely fair considering its location isnt a costal city and i couldnt ask for a better selection of meat cuts but i personally am only here to talk about the seafood. Long story short: Robert Wholey & Co. Give them all your business so i can request other species of fish...

Whole & Co. Is a great shopping experience! The staff is friendly & eager to help. The prices are very reasonable and the products are always fresh. I go down 1st thing on Saturday morning before it gets too busy. You can do all your shopping & all departments are open first thing and stay open until the store closes

Best place in Pittsburgh for any seafood product you desire. Many other food products to include Vegetables. Absolute must place to visit if you come to Pittsburgh.

Crazy good customer service! I order online yesterday a whole tenderloin and some slab bacon. Arrived next day beautifully packed and on dry ice. Havent tried the Filets yet but I can tell they are going to be delicious - well marbled and very nice cuts. It was like going to an old fashioned butcher shop without having to leave the house. Highly recommend their online experience. Easy and immediate confirmation and communication!
