I’ve been here a handful of times and cannot recommend Games Unlimited highly enough. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and their selection is absolutely amazing. I’ve picked up a number of great TTRPGs (and a handful of D&D books) here. Solid rewards program that makes it pay to be a regular customer. The staff’s passion for the games they sell is evident, and their enthusiasm is a strong reminder that it is always better to shop local. If you live in the East End of Pittsburgh or don’t mind making the trip for a great experience, be sure to stop by Games Unlimited.
I love that they have games on display in cabinets, as well as a demo game that they have staff available to teach you about it. A large used games section tells me that they buy games. This is nice when you start running out of room and find those couple of games that you played until you hated it... or just hated it the whole time. Seemed like all the employees were fellow Geeks that had played most of the games. I heard staff help a half dozen people and not once did they not know about the game people were asking about. We had a question about expansion compatibility and the staff member offered to look it up to confirm. He was right, but nice to know he was humble enough to check himself. I adore any business with a FREE rewards program. We will be back with our D&D group soon.
Massive inventory of various Board games, tabletop games, card games.. Also offer puzzles D and D yet puzzles DnD miniatures various role playing core books and many others. Super friendly staff, Conveniently located right in the middle of squirrel hill business district. If you like board games bring your wallet youre gonna spend money here.
Easily the best place Ive ever gone for board games. Massive selection and an exceedingly friendly staff. They happily let you demo games and also offer a kind of library service for borrowing games. I cannot recommend them enough.
This place is a dream. My familys been coming here for 5 years, and plan to continue for many more.It feels like home.Constantly fresh new games, puzzles, and more to try. Full dice wall, etc.But what truly MAKES this place are the people behind the counter. How do they find such gems? Each one takes care to spend time with patrons, helping them find JUST the right pastime. Ask them any question, ask about any recommendation, theyll have 3 answers minimum, waiting for you.AND you can rent board games for $5! Try before you buy! If you end up buying, the $5 counts toward payment! Mind blown.Love this shop. Thanks for all the memories.
Nice looking place, friendly staff, lots of board games, and I really enjoy that they have some cheaper used board games as well. Overall a great experience!
I really like their new location and the expanded inventory it allows. Im looking forward to the new gaming area upstairs. Staff were friendly, helping me find a game I was looking for, and still offered curbside pickup for those who dont want to or cant go inside. It helps the new location is within 100 feet of a bunch of interesting restaurants and easier to get to.
Great collection of board games! If you like board games, they have it!
Nice clean store with knowledgeable staff. Im excited for when the upstairs is ready for open gaming!
Large selection... A nice staff... Loyalty rewards program
Love this store! Staff is super helpful. Youll walk in wanting one thing and will easily find 3 more.
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Lots of selection for games, dice, and resources. Its the kind of store that you go in for one thing, and leave with more, and wanting to come back to browse.
Tons of games and super helpful and knowledgeable staff. They also have dice, roleplaying books, game inserts and puzzles
Huge space for everything games and more! Incredible diverse selection for all ages and predelictions!
I love the spaciousness of the new location. The staff are friendly and give thoughtful advice. The games are delightful.
Amazing store and wonderful staff who are very knowledgeable to help you find the right game! Love the organization of the store and friendly atmosphere. Will shop there anytime Im in the area!
Amazing selection and the staff is as friendly as they are knowledgeable (which is to say, very). Were going to need a bigger game closet!
Games Unlimited is a local store with a great selection of games and puzzles and a friendly atmosphere. We go out of our way to make a trip here and fuel our beloved hobby of playing tabletop games. The store owner and employees all recognize the importance of coming together and offer a wide variety of games to do so. Thank you, Games Unlimited, we truly appreciate all that you do.
Tons of options to choose from. Also has tons of dice and miniatures if thats your thing.
Huge selection of games, a really nice second hand section, and knowledgeable staff. Ive been looking for a decent game store since i left Minnesota, and finally found it!
I got some great game recommendations for my wife and I. The space looks great, spacious, clean, and neat. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Amazing board game and card game shop. Knowledgeable employees and a wide selection. I highly recommend
Best selection and very knowledgeable staff, will shop again
Amazing Board Game shop!A ENORMOUS selection of games and thee workers are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and I wish I could just sit and talk about board games for hours with them!Highly recommended!
Best place to shop for board games and the like. The new location is so much bigger and will soon be expanding upstairs!
Huge selection of games of all types for all ages. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff.
A great shop! Highly recommend and happily call it my New FLGS
Clean, open air shop run by knowledgeable and passionate people
Can spend a whole day in the store! Very helpful and knowledgeable staff!
I have recently rekindled my passion for jigsaws! At the recommendation of a friend I decided to check this store out since she said they have a good puzzle selection. They are not currently (August 2020) open in a physical sense, but their online store was quite detailed and they do have a great variety or challenging puzzles! My husband and I were easily able to pick the puzzles we wanted and our curbside pickup order was ready within the hour. Im looking forward to being able to visit in person in the future!
Fair prices, clean organized store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be a return customer.
Great store and staff. Amazing selection of new and used games. Will come back anytime I am in Pittsburgh.
I always love stoping by here. I’ve always received good answers and advice when it comes to games and their availability.
Great local game shop. Comfortable and great selection.
Great game store in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh.
Such a wide variety of board games, rpg, and puzzles.
Pleasant, immaculate, friendly, nerdy (in a great way)
They made ordering online easy and the staff there are friendly and knowledgeable.
Games unlimited has been my go to FLGS for a long time running, though I dont get to visit nearly as often living a significant distance away. Everyone who works the counter are very knowledgeable about the games, more than willing to talk to you about them, and help you should you need it. Ive got nothing but good things to say about them. I suppose the only bad thing is my distance away, but thats not their fault... 😛
Awesome place.
This shop is awesome! The people who work here are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We have bought many games (especially for kids) and they never steer us wrong. It is such a pleasure to go to a store like this, and they really give you something you can’t get buying online.
Fantastic place. Super-knowledgeable and friendly staff. Love the ability to rent games for just $5!
Always friendly, always helpful.
End up stopping here once a month for suggestions on good games. Well explain the type of game night were planning and they always make awesome suggestions. Theres a ton of games to choose from, and theyll often demo it for you if youre unsure.
Visited while travelling in Pittsburgh. Was able to rent game for the afternoon and play at Crazy Mocha across the road. Friendly staff and a good rental collection. Plus the rental fee can be used towards buying a game. Sweet deal!
The staff here are enthusiastic and helpful. Their passion for their work is what makes the place better than buying a random game on Amazon. Their try before you buy system is great for customers, and has shown me 3 games I later bought there.
Great staff, amazing little store! They really care about each of their customers.
Not a bad shop. Good selection of games. Decent selection of Q Workshop and a few other brands of dice. Plenty of smaller games, and it is nice that the cooperative games get their own section. You can tell a bunch of nerds run the shop and organize it efficiently for other gamers. I see that people play on the counters, but it didnt otherwise seem to have much gaming space. Kind of a bummer for a game shop, but I hear they often play across the street at Crazy Mocha.
The best board game store in Pittsburgh. Friendly staff, great selection, a game library so you can borrow games, and used games for sale. Not very many collectible card games or miniatures, but there are plenty of other stores in the area for those.
The guy behind the counter was the most knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful person ever. Helped my family and I pick out several games and was able to describe game play from several genres from memory. Great experience and I highly recommend!
My favorite board game store in Pittsburgh! They have a great selection and friendly staff! The only downside is I live west of the city and dont make it over to Squirrel Hill as much as I would like to!
A lovely little game store, Ive asked for help finding things several times and was assisted immediately as well as offered some excellent advice! Our house loves board games and at least one of us makes a trip there at least once a month.
Great store. Cant believe I missed this place! A wide selection of board games, new and old, as well as RPG manuals and accessories. Highly recommended.
I feel very justified in giving a five star rating to Games Unlimited. Heres some of the reasons why:- They are friendly and knowledgeable, able to offer their candid thoughts and in-context advice about nearly everything in the store. I have more than once bought items on their recommendation having visited to get something else.- Their used games selection is often a great place to find staple games (Dominion, Citadels, Carcassonne); Ive gotten a number of used titles both for myself and others. Ive traded in a few, too, for store credit.- They rent games! They update and change some of the titles every so often, but classics and new hotness are well represented. Additionally (at least as of my last rental), your rental fee can be used as in-store credit as long as the game is returned on time (you get them for a week). Talk to them for details.PERSONAL NOTE: I get it that you can find games - or nearly anything - cheaper online. But lets be real: if you like something, then support it or else it wont be around for long. Games Unlimited is a physical place on earth that I hope to patronize for years to come.
Awesome and friendly service! I asked in an email if they had a recent D&D release on sale, and they responded quickly and held it for me - even though it was the last one.
Best game store Ive ever been to. The staff are incredibly good at finding the perfect game for what youre looking for. And they have a great mix of party games, family games, euro games and everything in between.
Im not even a gamer, and I cant stop raving about the amazing service and killer selection here. What a gem this place is! Fantastic.
Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Recommended several games to me with my preferred mechanic (betrayal/deceit) and described the gameplay and mechanics of those. Huge selection, I didnt spend too long in the store but I have to come back to look at it all. Excellent experience, exactly what a gaming store should be.
Great selection and incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff! Skip the online retailers and big box stores Games Unlimited sets the bar for small local businesses!
An amazing game store with great customer service. The owner is very knowledgeable and can help you find a game that you would really enjoy. They also have board game rentals (some of the board games are pretty expensive) if you just want to get a game for a party, or if youre having some friends visit. If youre interested in board games, this would be a great place to start.
I havent stopped in Games Unlimited often, but I am always impressed with the store when I do. They have a lot of awesome board games and some tabletop RPGs too. The staff was very knowledgeable about what they had, and helped me find some semi-obscure stuff. Stop in if you are in Squirrel Hill.
Great store for hobby boardgames. They do have classic boardgames, but the selection is so much broader than just that. Games are divided into categories like new releases, kids games, cooperative games, competitive games and role-playing games. They also have a demo system. For $5 you can check out a game. If you return it within a couple of days they give you a $5 store credit (which you can use on anything). They also have an extensive collection of used games for about half off. Finally there are a large number of jigsaw puzzles. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you want to buy a new game but dont know what to get, just ask them! Check their Facebook page for info about special events like holiday sales and tabletop day.
Crazy knowledgeable staff can tell you about every game in the store. The only store if it’s kind
I found the staff at Games Unlimited to be super friendly and very knowledgeable. I was also very impressed by the amount of quality games that this place keeps in stock. Along with the latest and greatest, they have a selection of used games for sale at really amazing prices. Further, as I recently discovered, they run a program where people can rent games and try them out before they buy them. If you are a fan of board gaming (or puzzles) you have to check this place out!
This store is the absolute best. They have a great selection of games and puzzles, along with an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Kylie has helped my husband and I the most, and he is part of the reason we keep coming back; he remembers who we are, he suggests games he thinks we might like, and is simply an expert in his field. They also have a board game rental set up. It is a great way to try a game before you decide to buy it. If youre in the area, stop in and check them out, it is well worth it.
The staff is very knowledgeable and will take their time to give you game recommendations tailored to your taste. Theres a useful rental/demo system they have as well where you can pay $5 to take out a game for a week and a half or so. Then when you return it on time you get that $5 back in store credit. Amazing system. The layout of the store is excellent and the variety is incredible. I cant recommend this place enough.
Very helpful, friendly service. If youre newer to the world of board games, the price tags might seem higher than youd expect, but the time and skill that goes into these games makes it worth it. The staff at the shop are very knowledgeable and can explain in depth pretty much any game youre curious about.
Knowledgeable staff, great, selection and variety, competitive pricing. This place is my favorite place to buy games. I always end up spending too much because I just want to buy it all!
If you love board games, this place is heaven on Earth!! They held two games for me for 24 hours that I bought today. Very nice and knowledgeable staff!! I highly recommend this awesome one-of-a-kind store!!!
If they dont have your favorite game, they will try to get it for you! There are demos, and loaner games. If they had space in store for organized gaming it would be perfect. It is fantastic without it though. The folks yherr are very knowledgeable about the games and very helpful in getting what your group, family, or friends like to play.
I enjoyed the game store. It reminded me of one we have at home.
I love this place. Amazing staff large used selection. Prices are good to fair.
Kiley, the owner, is friendly And very helpful. He is actually expert at games, and has come up with great recommendations. And the recommendations travel.Daughter in Paris has gotten several games here, and had parties using them.Great store.
I love this place. The staff is well informed and super helpful. They are always friendly and willing to recommend games, even if you are confused. This may be my favorite store in Pittsburgh.
Great game store in Squirrel Hill. They have an awesome renting deal, where you rent out a game for a week for $5 and then when you return it on time they give you $5 back in store credit. Its smart and you can try out a bunch of games to see which ones you want to buy.Otherwise, the store employees are all really friendly and can answer any questions you have about the games.
They have a very broad and deep selection of quality games and a knowledgable and friendly staff. They also have a selection of quality puzzles. You pay a little more than you would online, but its worth it for the recommendations and the fun of talking to fellow game fans. Support local small business!!
Phenomenal store. I wish their prices were better, but I understand the struggles of a local store. Their selection and staff greatly make up for any hesitation (based on price) I may have.
Great selection and knowledgeable staff. Prices are a bit high, but its worth supporting the local shop. They offer board game rentals as well (learn a game before you buy).
The used selection is out of this world.I mostly go for the used games. The staff there have a vast knowledge of old and new games. Nice variety of games, if I didnt know, I would go there and ask. P.S. Pro-tip ask them about the library.
Great selection of games and puzzles.Staff was very approachable and knowledgeable.Plus in that they will let you try some games before you buy them and give discounts for frequent shoppers through a loyalty program.
Great local store with a big selection. The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to give advice on which games you should try out. Even more impressively, they will tell you honestly if you should Not buy a particular game.
Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Lots of great games. The rental program is a fantastic way to try before you buy, and they have a trade in program if you are looking to refine the collection.
I wandered into this place over the weekend just to browse around and ended up leaving with a few new games. The guys there were incredibly helpful and friendly, and did their best to make sure we were getting games wed actually enjoy. The games were a bit less expensive than in most places too, which was a nice bonus! They also have a cool trade-in system where you can bring in your own games to swap for any (of equal value) on their used game wall.Even cooler, they have a big wall of demo copies of games that you can borrow for a few days to try out.
Friendly board game shop. Staff will find you the perfect game you are looking for or will order it for you. This shop is up to date with all the latest and best games out there. It will not disappoint and you will support a great small business.
Amazing selection! The man working the desk was helpful and very knowledgeable. They have almost anything you can think of, or can help you find it if they dont. I went here a bit ago and am looking forward to going again. Love their Board Game Rental idea. Very convenient for trying something new. Just wish it was a bit longer. It was only 2 or 3 days. Which didnt give me much time to play. Also wish they had more games to borrow. But i mean, i cant really complain too. Its a great idea and a nice little shop!
Nice independent board game shop, not a toxic male environment
The staff are friendly and helpful, and Ive found something interesting every time Ive gone in. I generally look for tabletop RPG books, but my partner looks for party games that look fun and we both find things we like here.
Great place, very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Awesome FLGS!
The employees have always been friendly to me. They have a great selection of board /card / etc games (new and used). Plus theyve recently added a small but solid selection of RPGs. Ive been going for years and have never been disappointed!
The staff has encyclopedic knowledge of games and will help you find the kind of game that suits you perfectly.I visited the new location on Forbes Avenue and it is wonderful! Plenty of room to distance while shopping.
Awesome little store to get games and puzzles. Signed up for a membership cuz its easy to earn $ towards merch. Would recommend checking it out!
An incredible gem of a store! For a long time I felt that finding board games meant hunting on line, and reading reviews, but then having to weigh up whether Id have the patience and attention to read through the instructions if I ordered it. Then I discovered Games Unlimited. Not only does this store house the most board games Ive ever seen, they keep a selection of new, classic and popular games behind the counter and lay them out for customers to play. This gives customers the opportunity to have the rules explained to them visually and kinesthetically so they can decide if its a game theyll really enjoy/ understand/ want to play.My boyfriend and I agreed our date nights will revolve around board game nights so we purchase a game once a month. We have spent close to an hour each time we go to Games Unlimited before purchasing a game. The staff really know their stuff and give lots of good recommendations based on game preferences. They also have a loyalty card scheme where you gain points towards money off a game. Finally they host tournaments for different games for a variety of ages so kids getting into board games are catered for, right up through to big-kid adults.IMPORTANT EDIT: You can also rent a range of games for $5 for 2 days. When you return the game you get that $5 back as store credit towards a game. You can also use multiple of these credits to purchase a game outright if you rent games regularly. A great way to keep date nights, get togethers and parties fresh.
This store has a cornucopia of boardgames, card games, and puzzles from wall to wall, knowledgeable staff, and an atmosphere of inclusivity and non-elitism. I walked in a noob just looking for some premium dominoes, and walked out with a new potential hobby. If youre into physical gaming, on the fence, just a bit curious, or just looking for a game from your childhood, Id recommend giving it a look-see.
Great place!! They have a borrow system, so you can try our games before you commit to buying them - so awesome..
Great local tabletop game store. They have special order, preorder, and used game sales; game rental and rewards programs; and learn to play events on weekends. Add to that a friendly and knowledgeable employee team and this is a local business you should absolutely support!
