First, let me say that The entire crew at Pittsburgh Guitars are honest, passionate, and skilled at what they do. I have trusted them exclusively for the last 6 years. Scott has been a resource that has brought life to at least three of my guitars and assisted me with my own projects. Sam, John, and Jody have all been supportive and offered me helpful suggestions over the years.Recently, I was gifted a beautiful but unfinished bass. I dove from the Erie area to have Scott work on it. They understood the sentimental value and immediately put their expert hands to work. I love the work they did on this project and the care they take with all of my purchases. I just can’t imagine a visit to the Burgh without stopping by.
Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming. This is the best place in Pittsburgh to shop for interesting used or vintage guitars, basses, amps, and pedals. Do yourself a favor: stop reading reviews and go visit Pittsburgh Guitars right now. They get new stuff all the time so make plans to stop by in a month or so as well.
Love the shop and love the people. John is great to chat with and Scott set-up two acoustics for me and handled a minor repair on one of them for a great price and in less than two days. A nice touch that they text when your instruments are done and what the price will be when you pick it up! Will always return for service or to possibly purchase another guitar. Cant recommend them highly enough!
Great staff....walked out of there with my wallet a couple grand lighter....lol
Stopped by here a few days ago. This was my absolute first time purchasing a guitar, and my experience couldn’t have been better. The staff was super friendly and knowledgable, and they made me feel very welcomed as a new guitar player. Rob helped me choose a great acoustic electric guitar and even taught me how to tune it and play a few chords. Not once did I feel rushed or pressured. In fact, I was even more excited to start playing after having an awesome experience here. Great prices, great selection, and even greater people!😎🎸
Best guitar shop in Pittsburgh, hands down. Delightfully friendly, kind, and welcoming atmosphere. John, Sam, and Rob are beyond knowledgeable, and will do whatever they can to make sure you leave happier than when you walked in. I just left there with my newly setup AVRI tele (probably better than it came off the line imo), dropped off an acoustic to be setup, and theyre facilitating the restoration of a non-working 70s Fender amp I recently purchased. What more could you ask for? Literally a one-stop shop in all respects. Really cool selection, and a ton of stuff you arent going to find by going to the factory stores. Its always a pleasure when I get a chance to drop in.
Excellent selection of guitars with some unique and vintage pieces. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I had a good time shopping there. Thanks!
Amazing guitar store. John and Sam are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and generous with their time. Highly recommended.
Guys there are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They made a beginner like my daughter and a hack like me feel right at home!
Always a pleasure to shop there. The people are friendly and helpful. They have never been pushy about trying to make or force a sale. I definitely would recommend shopping here for your guitar needs.
Prices far lower than Id expect. Excellent selection. Nice people.
One of the best guitar shopsIn the area, smart, kind andFriend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
This is the only place I trust with my instruments when they require maintnence. They never cease to amaze with their prompt, punctual and friendly customer service.
Placed an online order of 2020 Fender American Pro Strat in sonic blue. Came in well packaged and as described/seen in pictures. Had a few questions about the mods on guitar and John was kind enough to answer quickly and provided timely order updates. Guitar sounds fantastic and is in mint condition. Truly amazing guitar buying experience!
My favorite store! Been buying my gear here since 1982! Great people, friendly and knowledgeable! I couldnt give a higher recommendation!
Got double charged for an item due to their mistakes. That was over a month ago. Im probably never gonna see that $100 again. Thanks!
Very cool store overall but they would not let me be in the store because I was not wearing a mask. Keeping in mind that I have a face shield for medical reasons. They did not try to accommodate by offering face mask or to call me or anything. They just kicked me out the store. They also pulled on there face mask (when they stated I did not have a face mask) like I did not know what it was.I will not be going there for any purchases.
Amazing place! Good prices, and service. I got everything I wanted with ease and the employees understand what they are selling. Ill definetly be coming here more often.
In February of 2020, I went in to buy my first amp for my bass guitar. I just picked up the bass a month before, so I had no idea what I was doing, what to buy, what to look for, anything at all for that matter. Luckily, I had a wonderful experience, and I will most certainly be back once the pandemic is over.Upon entering, I was greeted with a friendly smile and a Hello, can I help you with anything today? I could tell this guy genuinely cared and wanted to help, and he was not saying this line just because he was required to by his boss. I told the man that I was a beginner, and didnt know anything, and that I was looking for a small practice amp. Without any arrogance, contempt, or disdain, he, very respectfully and with detail, explained the basics of bass amps to me. What to look for, what not to look for, pricing, what all the knobs mean, proper maintenance and care. This was totally awesome. Being a beginner, I was very fearful of the staff potentially being annoyed with a low-skilled and naive shopper like me. That was not the case. This guy made me feel welcome, and he took his time to make sure I was happy. This store genuinely cares about you and your experience, and, from a beginner’s perspective, will never make you feel scared to ask a question or look stupid. This place is awesome, its a small-business so you feel good about supporting them too, and they easily earned my 2nd visit, where I will buy something nice and expensive off of them.
My dad left me his Taylor Acoustic years ago when he passed away. It got banged up so I put it in storage. Decided to pull it out and start playing again but the guitar was in bad shape. Pittsburgh guitar fixed it for a very reasonable price and now it sounds beautiful again. This guitar means alot to me thank u so much.
It was great. Sold an amp and picked up my bass after having some work done. Very friendly and highly knowledgeable staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend
We bought our second guitar for our son from Pittsburgh Guitars. John and his staff are always friendly and helpful. Buy local people!
Incredible selection of cool equipment that is different than the rubber stamp Les Pauls, Squier Strats, and cheap Ibanezs that cover the walls of guitar centers. Knowledgeable staff and just sn overall great experience. Only downside is now I really want a baritone that I probably dont need...
Service Second to none.
Theres a reason that these guys are known as the go-to place for anyone coming through town. Theyre all awesome folks, know what they do inside and out, will do everything they can to help you out and generally have really neat stuff on the floor.
Awesome place! I took my acoustic in to get set up because the action was too high. The people at Pittsburgh Guitars are friendly and knowledgeable. My guitar is set up perfectly now and its an absolute blast to play again. Very satisfied customer here!
Awesome customer service. Very knowledgeable and personable. Excellent service. I recommend this place to my friends.
Great shop if you are looking for a guitar or need a tune up.
Brought in old Epiphone Les Paul in rough shape and the folk at Pittsburgh Guitar made the Les Paul look brand new, also the guitar sounds amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for great service!
Excellent service and very friendly! Very affordable too!
I bought myself a used Fender Jaguar from Pittsburgh guitars. The two guys working there were both friendly and attentive. They seemed to be knowledgeable about the guitar and gave me the info I needed about it.Not to mention, the emergency pick business card that gave me with my purchase was pretty cool.
Great shop!! The staff are super friendly and down to earth. They have a great selection of instruments. They also do great repairs -- they did a great job on a tricky repair on my acoustic a couple years back, and Ive had no issues since. Would definitely recommend this shop over any other in the area. Would be great if they could expand their selection of pedals though ;-) but other than that, its a great shop.
Fantastic people and a great store. Just helped me to buy my first Martin acoustic. They always have some really cool old guitars there as well. Definitely recommend Pittsburgh Guitars.
After checking other places, websites, and making many phone calls, I saw 2 travel guitars (hofner shortys metallic orange...super hard to find right now) that I wanted on their website (one for my 16yo niece and one for myself).I couldnt believe my eyes, I figured it would be like other places where they list something then you call and they say we dont have metallic orange but how about red, or sparkly gold, or whatever else. But, to my surprise their website is up to date and they did have them!!!So, I called, spoke to a super nice guy named John...he arranged delivery a week forward since I will be out of town and I wanted to make sure I was home when they arrived, communication regarding availability and delivery was timely and friendly. Finally, he sent me pictures of the beautiful instruments that I got! Im super happy, they look great! BTW, Im in Austin, TX!Also, their website was updated immediately after I purchased them regarding their availability!Super happy with helpfulness, service, communication, friendliness...Thank you! Will update once I receive them!.............Got the guitars...they were shipped when John said she would ship them; they arrived nicely packaged, and in immaculate conditions!Very happy with the guitars and meticulous packaging! Thank you!
The experience I had here deserves way more than 5 stars. They are the most sincere and kind staff I have ever encountered. I was in the market for a new bass and they were so patient and met all my needs! After checking out, they even gave me a card that has picks you can pop out with their faces on them! Freaking adorable!! Thank you so much guys! Love it there!
Such nice people. This store carries a lot of the brands that you cannot find elsewhere. It is not just your typical Fender and Gibson. They have a wide range of unique instruments like Rickenbacker and Eastwood. Highly recommend.
Everyone here was very friendly and attentive. I went to get the fret edges of a guitar I bought elsewhere smoothed up. I dropped it off on Saturday and it was ready on Monday and the cost was more than reasonable. Highly recommended!
Scott has done great work on my Ric 4003, 57 P Bass and Guild acoustic. Need to reopen soon!!!
Friendly people with great service. Had my guitar setup, and it plays better than ever.
Bought many guitars here wont buy them anywhere else. Ppl are very nice and helpful. My husband has bought more than I have there!!!! We both just love giving to the small business owners. They will always have my business. Always!!!!!!
Im so glad I found Pittsburgh Guitars! Thank you John for taking time to answer all of my questions (I had a lot of questions!) and helping me select a guitar without making me feel stupid or pressured! What a friendly, knowledgeable group of people. You are the reason I chose to buy my guitar there.
Great place. Great location. Great selection. Knowledgeable, approachable and friendly staff who will go out of their way to help. Everything I need in a guitar store is here. Lessons, guitar care and repair too. Im a customer for life and would recommend to anyone.
A very helpful, patient, and friendly staff. They offer a great variety of instruments, amps, accessories, and repair services. Definitely my go to shop!
John was very knowledgeable of the industry and is very helpful with finding exactly what you need!
This place is cool personified, staff is great, selection awesome, repairs great. Only downside is I live 2 hours away. If you like guitars you have to check these guys out (and gal)
Great shop, highly recommended!
You wont find a better guitar shop with a more friendly, more knowledgeable staff than Pittsburgh Guitars. Best place to pick up your next axe, get lessons or have repairs done by a top notch guitar tech. Thanks guys, cant wait to see you again!
Great shop, knowledgeable friendly staff. The way guitar shops used to be.
Pittsburgh Guitars is a gem. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly; they do outstanding instrument repair work and use the services of an excellent amplifier repair technician. Their prices are fair, and although their inventory is not large, they often have very interesting guitars and amplifiers in stock. We are lucky to have them in Pittsburgh.
The only guitar store i will ever go to in the city. Bought my guitar there and taking lessons there. Very friendly and knowledgeable about guitars . Check them out
The staff here are very knowledgeable, and willing to work with you and what you need. Great people and great prices. You cant ask for more than that.
I could go on and on about my recent purchase, a Martin 12-string. The 1999 Martin DM-12 sounds incredible, and the buying experience was definitely first rate. I was fortunate to see it on your website and appreciated John holding it until I ran down to the store. Ive been going to Pittsburgh Guitars for years and will continue to shop there, as well as have Scott take care of all my guitar set-ups & repairs. Thanks!
Brought in 2 guitars for a full tune up and they had them ready for pickup in 3 days, all polished and in great shape. Also helped me figure out some issues with my Jaguars floating bridge over the phone.
Im an out of towner who got to talk with John the owner while picking up some needed toys... excellent store and service. When I move up here this will be my go to store! Highly recommend this store and what a great used inventory! Keep on rockin! Ed-G
Amazing place! Great selection and service!
Had to pick up a few strings for Local H who was playing at the Hard Rock Cafe, they were extremely helpful in finding a very specific set of nickel strings. Great place.
Ive been coming to this great guitar store whenever Im in the Pittsburgh area for 20 years now. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they always have some very interesting vintage guitars and basses too. The prices are also very fair! Check them out, youll be glad you did!
The best guitar staff anywhere- helpful, never pushy, and all without the guitar store attitude you get elsewhere. Plus, the repair shop is second to none.
Friendly and curtious, clean store with a small assortment of instruments and amps. Some vintage items and with fare prices.
Great service. Nobody acts pretentious and theyre always honest, helpful and polite. Its such an honor to still have such a beacon still in our neighborhood.
Cant give 6 stars, what a shame!!!Moved to Pittsburgh from Texas and my guitar went out of whack bad. They fixed it at a great price. From what I can tell the prices are pretty damn good compared to what I experienced in Texas for similar services. Tune jobs, re string, lessons.. etc.Very friendly and knowledgeable! Thanks
They are very nice people and they know what they are doing. Good selection of instraments
The staff was helpful and knowledgeable, and when they didnt have the instrument i wanted in stock, they immediately started working on placing the order for it. Very friendly staff and a great selection here!
Bought my Les Paul Baritone from here at a great price. Great guitar - even better investment.
The guys working in the shop are really cool nice guys. Im from ohio and I needed some more strings. They had no problem letting me play some guitars. Great selection of guitars and amps.
The two guys that were there when I went to get my gutair treated me as if I was a burden on them and rushed me out the door. Wish I had spent my money elsewhere but my gutair still works beautifully so its fine.
We tried building a custom guitar but made mistakes wiring it. When I brought it in initially the woman there was nice and helpful. Everything seemed fine. When I picked it up after they rewired it the guy who did the rewiring was really pretentious, which you know what, if you are smart Im fine with that. The issue was he didnt wire it correctly and it still doesnt work. If you are buying something the girl behind the counter is nice and their prices werent bad. I wouldnt trust them to do any electrical work.
Incredible staff and selection of guitars, basses, amps and pretty much anything your heart desires!
Awesome store and staff! Pittsburgh Guitars is the best guitar store in the tri-state area. Whether you are a working musician or just learning; John and his team make you feel like you are in the band. Vintage, new or used be sure to get your gear at Pittsburgh Guitars.
Best guitar shop in Pittsburgh. Great staff and great selection.
Great selection of guitars and gear, my go to for any repairs and set ups
I was looking for guitar strings for my friend but I didnt know that kind. They helped me find the right kind for my friends guitar.

Ive been to Pittsburgh Guitars many times over the years. The staff is friendly and VERY knowledgable!! Although I pass several music stores on my way to Pittsburgh Guitars, I rarely shop anywhere else!!

A great Mom and Pop yinzer music store!!!
Very helpful with buying my first ukulele. They even had a dog bowl out front in case your dog is thirsty.
Nice guitars selection, used & vintage ones are pretty well tuned. Friendly staff
Knowledgeable, staff is friendly, good prices
Nice staff, quick turnaround for a setup. My bass never played so well.
I really buy here because they are professionals. They forgot more than I know.
These guys have one of the finest music stores in the Pittsburgh area. I bought a Fender Hot Rod DeVille amplifier from Pittsburgh Guitars. Not only is the amp great - perfect for the styles of music that I play, but John and the staff were able to answer all of my questions regarding the amp in a very knowledgable manner. They really know their stuff! Everyone was friendly and courteous. They offered me more money for an amp I was trading in than that big box store (locations in Monroeville and Pittsburgh) and even though I was parked a few blocks away, they even put the amp on a dolly and wheeled it all the way to my vehicle and loaded it. Now thats service! Thats also service that you certainly wont find at a big box store or the internet. They had a great selection of amps when I was there (even a 57 Twin) and an even more impressive selection of guitars. This is a great business staffed and owned by some genuinely fine people. I highly recommend them and you can be sure the next time Im in the market for gear, my first call will be to Pittsburgh Guitars.
Great store, great people.
Amazing staff. They help you with whatever you throw at them.
Great place great people
Great customer service.
