I was told I needed new brake pads etc and the cost seem outraged. My husband decided to check around and I didnt need new brake pads and what they said. I had all new ones I was told. So, I dont know if I was being milked for money.I dont trust returning to any Pep Boys again. The receptionist was cool, but the rest of the experience was awful for me. This is only how I feel and my experience. I cant speak for anyone else. I dont want to discourage any new customer from going to one. Im just giving my review based on my experience. Everybody situation can be different!

They took care of my flat tire pretty quickly. Not sure where I picked that up at.

My previous mechanic changed my rear brakes and rotors and forgot to adjust my rear brakes took it to pep boys for a blowout and he found a problem with my rear brakes he said that whoever replaced my brakes forgot to adjust them and he adjust them for me and now my van runs good Thanks

Recently I had a ball joint break on my Dodge Ram 1500. I was stranded in Norfolk and would need to stay in a hotel until it was fixed. I explained this to Angie and she and the team really went above and beyond for me. They got in all the parts overnight and had me back on the road in 2 days. This was a major repair because of what happens when a ball joint breaks it usually tweaks everything in the front suspension and can be catastrophic on a 4x4. I was far from home with no tools and no way to fix it myself and these guys really took care of me. This location is not in my home range but I can say with confidence that they were fast, honest, and went the extra mile for me.

Had to wait 2 hours, even tho I had an appointment, and charged $235 for a diagnostic, when I told them it was just a coil pack, then turns out I was right, because I already did it at advanced and bought the coil pack there. Its a 90 second job, and cost $20 at 2 different mechanics I have had it done at before. These people are literal thieves! Never again!

Initially left a review 60 days ago which was five star. The harmonic balancer installed on my car fell off causing more damage than what I cost to fix the first time. Dont even care about getting the money back. I just wish the worst kind of evil on every breathing soul who worked on my car that is employed at this location. Grade F service and performance.

I cant believe the service i was given by the Portsmouth location. I paid almost $4000 for my 2006 Dodge charger repair to give to my daughter for her birthday. The car had been down for a year. Me and wife saved and knew it would be alot but we knew it be worth it. After picking my car up I Went to get an inspection and the car was leaking fuel. I could have blew up. A simple repair turned into a nightmare. The lady that runs the automotive department didnt even apologize for the damaged that was done. Only my $16 fee for the inspection was refunded and finally they fix the fuel leak but my car still smells like gas and they told me to take it to a detail spot to get the smell out and they will reimburse me. At that point I just gave up. After being hospitalized for a month and returning home I noticed my car had a roaring sound to it. So after looking under the car I noticed they didnt even put back the cover under the vehicle so I called and advised them who I was. Oh they remember. I told them that the part needed to be put back on they told me I had to wait another 10 days because their automotive supervisor is on vacation and to call them on the 19th. This is unacceptable customer service. They could have reached out or text this Womans just to see if she say yay or nay but no... Im still waiting... I will never go back to them again. The service was horrible. It probably just would have been easier to sue them for reimbursement for the $4000 that we paid but I dont even have the energy to go through all of that. I ended up just buying a car for my daughter. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone or even have given them a star but I had no choice in order to do this review. So disappointed and still waiting for them to fix another mistake they made. The nightmare continues...

I was approached by an employee who asked if I needed help. I wasnt sure what rim I wanted or what would fit. In less than 1 minute he was able to show me what would work and listened to what style I liked. Long story short he was able to show me some wheels that we both liked. He was very helpful and kind. I had a 3:00 appointment for an oil change, and after getting checked in, was quoted a 4:15 finish time, which seemed like kind of a long time for a simple procedure, but I was willing to wait, knowing that this is a full service shop. However, it turned out to be a 5:00 finish time, and then for some reason several more minutes to get through a long and overly complicated checkout procedure. Also despite them supposedly doing a routine inspection, they didnt check the brake pads even though the wheels had been off for the tire rotation. That all being said, I think the actual work done was good. Id recommend they try to make their service more streamlined and efficient.

Dont take your vehicle hear. They over charge for there work and they do not do the job correctly. Went here for a smiple water pump and thermostat and beside it costing 900 they took 8 hours to do a 3 hour job and put the wrong coolant back in the car when they were done.

Amazing service got my truck in and out and the service wroters were awesome and kind hoghly reccomend coming here had a brake caliper lock up and they had all the parts on had and had me back on the road even with there shop being super busy will definatly come back anagain and highly reccomend this shop for any type of repair or maintance work!

False advertising you can not get a state inspection in 5 mins. I stop by there today and they told me mid-morning or afternoon, that I could drop off my car or wait in the waiting rm but others were before me ( understandable), this was 8am. Therefore to say you can get a state inspection in 5 minutes that just is not true and should be taken down. Not trying to be nasty just facts.

When they have worked on my vehicles they have done a great job. They take a long time but maybe that is because they are thorough. Maintaining a vehicle is expensive but they are comparable to others. If I just walk in they usually work me in that day. Anthony the young man that helps check you in and out is a Great Young Man. Everyone in the back is like talking to someone you already knew before, great. Its not hard or awkward to ask questions with them, but Ill be honest and I had walked in one day to a lady sitting at the entrance doing little to filing her nails, that seemed as if she didnt like talking or frankly answering many questions but, I moved on to staff that had better attitudes and got me through with my big purchases.

My experience here was pleasurable the service manager Robert was excellent. He answered all of my questions and was a great help! my only negative comment would be it takes awhile to get your vehicle so you will be waiting awhile but their service is worth the wait . Do I recommend to a friend ?, Yes.

Set an appointment for today at 1 to have tires changed and oil changed in engine and diffs. They called at 12 to cancel the appointment telling me they were booked. Then proceeded to tell me to call the Norfolk store to get it scheduled. They were unprofessional on the phone. Stopped by airline auto, guy said what would you like done, and we can do anything. I’ll be reviewing them in the next hour or so but if you are looking for good customer service go to Airline auto right down the street from the shitbags at pep boys, make sure to give them a call.

Purchased a Bosch 3 year free replacement battery a couple of years back...didnt have the receipt....manager was very helpful, enrolled me in the rewards program which tracks activities and gave me a replacement battery (after they test and verify the status of your current battery). They honor there policy without hassle! Thanks for turning a not so good start of the morning into a good rest of the day.

Got a car rack for the car and made it all the way to Oklahoma with no issues thanks to their help! Cant thank that nice lady who helped us enough. We went to 3 or 4 other places with no luck. Very happy.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I will start by saying the first time I had service there it went smoothly, we worked with Jonathan and he was great! He evaluated the car and was able to fix the issue.Fast forward about 2 weeks to today. A couple days ago I noticed some issues with my car so I made another appointment. This time we spoke with Todd. He was very rude from the moment we walked in, almost like he didnt want to be bothered. He talked about how he had been doing this for almost 30 years so he knows tires but when I brought up the ticking noise he doesnt know what that could be and he fixated on the fact that I need new tires, which I understood but that wasnt the issue at the moment. He kept saying that its the tires, didnt even want to drive and evaluate the car to see what real issue could be. He even stated that I wouldnt trust a place like this, we dont have a great reputation here and you should probably bring it into the Hyundai dealerHe got a phone call during our visit and he was very rude to the person on the phone too. We will not be bringing our business back here.

Great place to pick up car supplies. Store is clean, organized and someone is always more then willing to help.The parking lot can get a bit packed but other then that this place is pretty much self explained.

Chris and Antony have been very helpful in the few years I have been going there with always being able to help me find the deals and parts needed for my jeep. I truly appreciate the time and patience that they have shown me. I look forward to working with them down the road

Even more importantly, I was driving my mother in laws car. They fixed the flat even though I came in 30 minutes before close. A competitor turned me away and they closed at 8 also. Thanks Chris and Matthew for making me a better daughter in law! Service with a smile. I highly recommend this location and will come back again and again.

This place is absolutely perfect. The staff is kind and friendly, normally I’ve had mostly terrible experiences at other auto parts stores because I am a woman and they second guessed my abilities. But not here, I recieved nothing but encouragement and praise, and 10/10 would recommend this store to absolutely anyone.

I had tires and brakes done. I thought I needed front brakes but the service dept brought my into the bay to show me that I didnt need the front brakes. I returned the brakes to the parts dept and Tom did the return without hesitation. I have used Pep Boys before and have never had problems with my service. Great service, I walked in just before closing and the two people there did a great job assisting me as the store should have been closed.

The only reason they received a 2 star was because of the young guy working at the front desk he was very polite and acted like he cared. I will never ever return. I went on my lunch break to have my tire replace or plug. When I went in I told them I rode on some glass on the interstate yesterday from an accident and 2 hours later my tire was flat. Someone put some fix a tire and air in the tire but I needed to make sure the tire is good because I did not have a spare and I can not have the tire go flat on me. When I took the car in they told me they did not find anything wrong with the tire. I asked twice and was told the tire was good and I said I think I need a new one because it looked like it was going flat again before I brought it in. The next morning the tire was completely flat!!! They towed my car back and told me glass was in the tire. I said I told you yesterday I thought glass might be in the tire! They told me the glass was not in there yesterday. REALLY SO I JUST KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN! I had to buy a high price tire $110 from them because I couldnt drive the car away!!! I think they did this so I would buy a tire because if they would of told me the day I came glass was on the part of tire you could not see unless you took the tire off I would of went some where and got a cheaper tire! NEVER EVER AGAIN. Also I had to take time off work to tow car the car got there 2:30 told them I get off at 5:00 and guess what 5:00 still no call. I should of been first! Wasting my time

I wish that I could give no stars!!! Rude loud was what my children and I first encountered. I got a flat on a 10 day old tire that I purchased from Alabama... These guys fixed the tire and didnt want to put it back where the spare goes and called me a lie when I explained that my husband and the other pep boys were able to remove the tire and put it back!!! Never again... Pep boys has lost a faithful customer.. Theres no way that I will buy 5 tires from a company that allows their workers give half ass service!!!

This Pep Boys is below standards. They placed defective tires on one of my vehicles. The tires became bald within the first 2500 miles of the warranty, yet we still had to pay a prorated amount equal to almost half the original price.

We used their service center. The employees were very knowledgeable and courteous. The service was completed in a very timely manner. We actually made a mistake when ordering the parts online before we scheduled the service and the representatives were very patient and helped us get within by straightened out.

I ordered on line and picked up almost immediately. Associate was very helpful. Plus I got a great deal.

Unfortunately, cant speak to the experience of the staff, no state inspector available today, but the front desk clerk was very polite and professional.

Last time I went here was 2005, and they pissed me off so bad Ive never been back to this one or any other Pep Boys since.Long story short, they charged me for labor, for labor that wasnt even done on the car.I took it in for a starting issue.I told them if they jiggle the keys around the car will start right up, indicating something wrong with the wiring or the rotary switch.Said they fixed the problem and gave the keys back to my 8 months pregnant wife in the middle of winter.It started up for her and she took it. An hour later shes in town stranded. Car wont start.All they did was spray wd40 into the key switch, overhauled it they said. I dont even think they took apart the steering column to look at it.I was so angry I nearly lost my temper with them when I went back to give them a piece of my mind. That smug idiot had no idea how close I was to snatching him by the neck and shaking him like a rag doll.It took me contacting their corporate office to get any kind of assistance.I know it was a long time ago. I have no idea how they are now. But Im not going back to find out. As far as Im concerned, if theyre owned by the same people, Im not going back.Avoid this place.

I was towed to this facility when my engine wouldnt turn over. They told me it was the Cam Shaft Position Sensor (a $150 part). I authorized them to make the fix, and when I arrived to pick up my car (and after paying over $400), it was not fixed. Prior to the issue, it started right up smooth as can be and now, it squealed, took a few seconds for the engine to turn over, and they had the nerve to tell me this was an acceptable fix. Concerned that it wouldnt start in the morning, I left it there to give them the opportunity to try again, but faith was not instilled in me as the (very polite) customer service rep said the mechanic who worked on the car, Joey Campos, was the best in the job they have. I have put a complaint into USAA who referred me and just pray it will all work out. Thing is, one shouldnt have to pray to not be screwed and financially taken advantage of by what is supposed to be a reputable shop.

The employees, mechanics and sales people are very helpful.my granduaghter left her car with them for a brake problem. She asked them to notify her if there was a problem. They kept it all day that Saturday and did not contact her . We went to pick it it up on Sunday they had not touched it. They knew she had to leave and return college on Sunday. The had to go back to school with break problem unresolved. Too late to get it done.

Car was ready and didnt receive not tell I called and asked about inspection. Service member stated is was done and the I received a e-mail after our conversation for pick-up. Service had always been great before however this visit wasnt a great one.

I show up at the shop at 4:30 PM for aState inspection because the attendant told me the inspector would be on site at 6 PM and there was one inspection ahead of me.I have no problem waiting. 630 rolls around and the state inspector still isnt on site. Their excuse was that he didnt call, or let anyone know that he was going to be staying home that day.They asked me if I wanted to reschedule for the day after because the state inspector should be back tomorrow. I called to confirm my appointment for today to find out that the state inspector is it going to be after being lied to.If Pep Boys cant even keep their word how do they expect to conduct business and make money. This was for a simple state inspection. This is why Im taking my business elsewhere.

Went in to get my rear wheels balanced and my brakes checked not even half a mile down the road my driver side front tire rolled off my car and now my car is wrecked...they obviously hire anyone to work here and because of that I almost lost my life.

Walked in to manager cussing on phone about another customers part. I schedule my appt the day before with them but they forgot to actually put it in the system. The took a while locating my tires which I paid for on the day before. I had an appt yet they didnt start on my vehicle until 1.5 hours after my appt. time.

Got there at 9 am and was told would be 2 hours.at 11:30 job wasnt even started.went home and called at 1:45. AMD was told my car was next so went back up there.when I walked in lady at desk was on cell phone talking about she knew her husband was leaving her and after 5 minutes or more still hadnt acknowledged I was there.mechanic came from back and I asked him and sq told he to finish car he was on and do a break job and might be able to get to mine by end of day yet I was there before the others. Mechanic was Derek and really apologetic. At firestone getting work done now.told to be here at 9 came at 7:30.its 8:03 and car is in bay half finished

Extremely dirty store! Had to use the restroom and was absolutely disgusted! Dont think they have cleaned it in years. The whole stores floors need mopped to say the least. I get its an auto parts store but I never been in an auto parts store and lived all over the country that was so filthy.
