We love this place, and make sure to stop in every time were in town. They have a great selection of locally made craft foods and treats, cool kitchen wares and fun home decor, as well as a huge assortment of Vermont- and Stowe-themed merchandise and souvenirs. They even have a self-serve candy display, which is a personal favorite. We usually end up buying way more than we should, but theres so much cool (and delicious) stuff its hard not to...

We stopped in here for goodies as we were staying in a nearby AirBnB apartment last fall. Lovely place in a lovely town, we picked up to take with us some Smoked Flax Corn Chips, Smoked Espresso Maple Granola Bark and wonder Cabot Cheese. Total came to $ 22. Friendly service with a smile. Gotta love Vermont through and through!
I loved this store. I had to go back and get a few things for myself. Stow had a Lacrosse tournament all weekend. I would have loved to find a few sweatshirts in the mercantile that said stowe VT lacrosse. Thats just me. I had 2 grandsons playing

Love this store and we go here every time were in Stowe ; but No more !! Today, at 3:35 ( June 14 ) a very polite young lady asked us to please finish looking at what we were looking at and check out because the store was closing for a staff meeting.I guess the pandemic didnt hurt too bad. When I was in business, we would have staff meetings before or after store hours. We would not kick out customers out to have a meeting . Just sayin.
Right on Main, with several different retailers inside the building...lots to see and do, a cafe, book store, clothing shop and the Mercantile store which I love!!! So many goodies. The book store is impressive. There is plenty of parking on Main, but but during peak hours and seasons get there early. Customer service is wonderful especially the girls at the cafe, super friendly. A must go destination, plan on spending a while browsing and shopping. Food, gifts, housewares, clothing, cards, gifts, local handcrafts & art...the photos are a collection of a complete shopping experience from the multiple shops and cafe.
Hey- we missed going to our favorite Vermont iconic general store- you most likely know the place- and in doing so, we discovered this gem of a place!So happy to find out there are still magical places like this still in existence.A fun place to explore for young and old alike.Make sure you take a picture with the bear near the entrance- it makes for a neat memory.Cheers and happy shopping!

Wow what a fun store! Something for everyone. I brought an out of town friend to Stowe to see the sights. This place was the highlight of our visit that day.

Right next door to the Green Mountain Inn and The Whip, this store has the feel and look of one of those old-West mercantile stores. Theres a wide variety of stuff to buy, from food to beer to souvenirs, and the staff is nice too. Youll always find something good to purchase for yourself or someone else!

One of my favorite gift stores in stowe, a classic staple of stowe that you must visit! They have so many cool things, every time I check out I go to leave the store and end up turning around and buying something else ! Great place for gifts !

Quite the awakening as you walk through the door. We walked into what we thought would be a quaint little store however there was so much more to be had. We mainly stayed on the lower level and were greeted with offerings of the locale that fit ever so perfect. So many local offerings of food/snacks, beverages, gifts, clothing and mementos. Truly a one stop shop if you want to take home a piece of stowe. And the staff was very polite as well!

Stopped by the Mercantile web site and looked at the pictures. Heard about the store from David Venable on In the Kichen With David tonight. Had to see what was so special. I saw myself as a little girl near my grandparents home in a small town in NH. I wept when I saw the candy counter Cant wait to visit.Hope you open soon. Stay safe.

Wonderful little shop with unique gifts and treats all around. Lots of Vermont made products and cool art pieces. We go there every time we go to Stowe and its very hard not to leave without something neat weve found.

Great shop on Main Street. The entire area atmosphere still has that small town charm and vibe. Do not let the small storefront fool you and pass it by. Once you enter, it seems to turn into the Hogwarts Room of Requirement, and goes on and on with every imaginable thing inside!! Prices were reasonable and there is definitely something for everyone.

Welcome to Stowes version of a mall! Great place to pick up gifts and souvenirs. Old fashioned penny candy by the scoop and photo op in the antique gondola car will delight the kids. The piano in the middle of the store often results in visitors providing impromptu entertainment. The Mercantile building is also home to a book store, a cafe and a clothing boutique.
We stop by Stowe once a year and always make it into the mercantile. A bit on the pricey side, but always worth a look around to grab some maple syrup, beer, or a shirt/sweater. Heading in through the back way always seems a bit more entertaining than going through the front door and down the stairs. All-in-all a great, warm atmosphere to this place.
This is a must visit gift shop. They have extremely delicious and unique sauces, dips, and salsas. Highly recommended.
I probably owe this place upwards of $300 from all of the free samples Ive consumed... but the Mercantile has a great selection of food, beer/wine, gifts, trinkets, apparel, and home goods. Very authentic Vermont country store feel.

This place has a sweet old-timey feel. They have a lot of made-in- Vermont products and a huge variety of merchandise. They have everything from food to pottery, soaps to Christmas ornaments. I was able to purchase quite a few gifts for family back home. Their prices were reasonable considering it is a tourist town. Many on the products I could not find in other stores, but the stuff I did find elsewhere was slightly cheaper at the other stores. This could be your one-stop-shop for gifts from Vermont.
This place is very large and it hosts different stores, each one with plenty to find. Lots of local Vermont food specialties, crafts and decorations, clothes, a book store, a café etc. etc. Lots of must need items but also a lot of original finds.I highly recommend it.
I go here everytime Im in Vermont. Primarily for nostalgic reason, but its so much fun to go through the store and look at everything! You could easily get lost in your childhood or get anything Vermont. Its a fun experience!

If you like kitchy stuff, this is the place for you. They sell a lot of Vermont and Stowe themed items, but its disappointing to me that a lot of these items are not actually made in Vermont. If you are just visiting town, its a good place to get you Stowe hats, shirts, hoodies, etc. They also have a toy selection - which doesnt really make any sense to me. Be careful when you get candy here. Its all priced on its weight, so before you know it you will be walking out of the store with $15 of Alpine Mints and Gummy Worms.

Staying right above the store...emailed them a month before to learn store hours which are not published anywhere - they never responded. Walked in on Friday evening at 5:59pm and was told sorry were closed. Lights on, door is open and theyre closed??? Staff is clueless; products can be bought anywhere - most at World Market/Cost Plus in Texas and California for less than the Stowe Mercantiles markups. Not sure the appeal? But if you need to kill time, get in from the cold, or take a break from the summer sun than I guess this is a suitable place to hang out. Otherwise, we found the service and products highly disappointing.
