This place is great! Ive read a ton of bad reviews and a lot of good ones on this location, I had an appointment and spent about a hour maybe more my glasses are super cute and my contacts only took a few days even with a holiday weekend! I hate the parking at this location and the traffic. The dr was thorough and educated the staff seems knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Ill say it again I think this place is great!
It’s taken weeks to get my glasses. I’ve had to go back cause the glasses I picked where to big for the type of lens I needed. So I went back to choose 3 new pairs. I called about a week ago they’re still trying to get the lens in. I didn’t realize you have to wait a month or more! Really dissatisfied. Your only saving grace is Ryan!
Terrible staff. I paid $300 for a pair of glasses with transitions and waited two full weeks. Upon picking up the glasses, I soon realized it did not have transitions. I called them a few times during the two weeks I waited regarding the status of the glasses because I needed them very badly. I called them and asked for the right pair of glasses and I was told I needed to send back the glasses and wait another few days. The lady I was on the phone with told me they had ordered it and it should be available in a few days. 1 FULL week passed, I called them and asked on the status of the glasses and found out nobody even placed an order. Since the workers couldnt do their jobs correctly, I just had them refund me the transition fee. To my surprise, I saw on the transaction history and was CHARGED $109.99. I called them again and they told me they mustve hit the wrong button. I have to wait 3 days for the refund now, I got bills to pay. Horrible service.

Why are all the Nationwide clinics so bad!! My sisters glasses arrived brand new, and one of the technicians snapped and broke the frames while cleaning/adjusting them. They said they couldnt do anything about it and blamed it on the manufacturers of frames. The technician that broke it didnt even apologize. We had to take the frames elsewhere to get them repaired. The frames lasted over a year so far since we had them repaired. Not coming back!
This is my second time buying a pair of frames that arrived completely crooked. They don’t lay flat when placed on the surface and they are uneven on my face. I pointed it out when I bought it and the person I was talking to just grabbed them by the lenses to physically twist the frames. Which honestly I feel like made them more bent. I tried them on with the same results. She asked if she wanted me to do it again but I really didn’t want her to make them worse. I bought a pair of glasses a year previous to that which where the frames were scratched and the paint was coming off when I received it. They were able to give a small discount, after much much hassle. I’ve been meaning to go back to see if someone else can do something about it but have almost given up on good service at this point. However, my experience with the doctor was pleasant and they took their time assessing my vision.
Terrible experience all together. Went in for an exam and needed glasses. The lady at the front told me for $55 I would get scratch resistance, transition and antiglare. Turns out all that was put on the lens was antiglare. The prescription needed adjusted and that part went fine, but when I asked the lady why she lied she said she had no idea what Im talking about. She promised to make it right with the new lenses and add everything. The guy Ryan told me Id have my glasses in 5-7 days. A week went by and no phone call, so I call and am told Id have them by the middle of the week. Its going on 3 weeks now and still no glasses. When I called back for an update the lady on the phone spoke so fast and was very rude. She immediately placed me on hold and it was so long it rang through again. This time when she answers she decides she wants to help. She was no help at all and was very rude the whole time. Im surprised this place is still open after reading all the reviews. Once I get my glasses back I will never step foot in a nationwide again. Re-train your staff pronto.

Nationwide wasted my time by not asking me one simple question when I scheduled my appointment 2 weeks in advance. I filled out all their paperwork, then they say, you are over 25 & too old to use your insurance. Dont waste your time!
As soon as I walked into the building I wasn’t greeted with a hello I was greeted with a “wait there” in a stern voice. Now proceed to today about 3-4 days later I was greeted the same way and was really surprised when the guy that said “wait there” told his other employee “she was just addressed to STAY” as if I was a dog waiting for my next command. I like going to nationwide for my eye care needs but this location needs to look into having better and professional staff, or at least a talk with him.

We took our grandson to have his lenses replaced and had to wait 10 minutes to have our temperature check no problem we know the importance of safety we follow it wherever we go, but we never got seen someone else came in after us and were seen right away. So sad that you have unprofessional associates that just dont get it every customer is a customer.Need better service in this location .
Staff gives wrong quotesOver charged when it was included, had to redo an exam because the glasses they said is the prescription needed, actually made vision worse with the glasses than without, then said the new glasses would be ready in a week...3wks later still working on frames. This place is a joke!
I only go to this location because my company vision insurance has a contract with them that makes services here cheaper, but at this point I would rather just pay more to go elsewhere. Every year when I need contacts, there seems to be some issue with ordering the contacts, the wrong insurance being billed, or people at the store just generally acting that ordering contact lenses is something out of the ordinary.This time around, I was waiting on sample contacts for two weeks, which I followed up on twice, before someone finally realized the samples had never even been ordered when I called to check on them for a third time. Once I finally got the samples and called in to order a year supply, it took 4 phone calls in a single day, with me repeating the same information over and over to different people, to get the contacts ordered because I kept getting passed around or told someone would call me back later. I dont think this is the fault of any of the employees, who are all very nice, but rather just a poorly run company that doesnt do a good job of record keeping or training their employees.
Bad customer service from this office. I spoke with Ryan who had me at the office for two hours and did not submit my prescription for my glasses. It’s been two weeks and they have nothing in the system for me even though I went for an exam? The unprofessionalism is unacceptable and the communication is awful, I would not recommend this location at all. It literally blows my mind that they had me at the office for two hours getting exams done just so that Ryan can tell me that nothing was ever put into the system for me, so basically they lost all my information. Waste of time! 2 weeks later! Unacceptable.

I will never go there again! The first experience I was scolded like I child. I am an entrepreneur and I handle a lot of business over phone secondly when I arrived to pick up my glasses. I stood over a minute while 2 employees had conversations of.pto and vacation time actually 2min. Wasnt greeted until voiced I was there to pick up me and my daughters eyewash DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE BUSINESS!
I wish I could give less than one star - Terrible experience here and dont recommend this location at all. The machines that were used during my eye exam were visibly dirty, even the machine the doctor used for my exam had foundation marks on it. Hopefully it was just from the last patient, but who knows. I set all of these things aside because I needed an eye exam and getting appointments on Saturdays can be tricky, but I regret it completely and should have waited to go to an actual eye doctor. The staff failed to inform me until after an hour and a half into me being their that they wouldnt be able to process things through my insurance because their billing department was closed. They offered to let me pay for things outside of my insurance, but only after I pressed and three employees had just finished talking about how theyve not processed things like this in the past and it may get misplaced. While I can appreciate trying to creatively solve a problem, their level of professionalism and talking thing through while I was right next to them was ridiculous. If they werent able to process things with the insurance information that I provided a week in advance than they should have reached out to me and offered to reschedule before I even came in. Definitely check that theyre responsible enough to understand how to correctly bill you and include your insurance if you go here... because apparently thats not something theyre concerned about.(2/1/19) Thanks for responding Nationwide, but I reached out to that email after finding it in previous review responses 5 days ago when I submitted this review. I have still yet to receive an update from you via email or a follow up after this experience at your store.
I had a recent appointment at this Nationwide and was very pleased with my visit. Very knowledgeable staff, and I felt very welcomed from the moment I stepped in the door. When choosing my glasses, the sales manager Luke helped me pick out a pair that complemented my face well, and to top it off, I had my frames back in a week! I highly recommend visiting this location if you want fast, friendly and reliable service!

Great place just went in there because my glasses were very bent from a family member sitting on them. Staff was great and help me right away and adjusted my glasses. Will for sure go there next time to get my glasses when I need a new pair
The only reason I am not switching places is because I love the eye doctor at this location. He is very friendly and informative, as well as honest. The only thing I dread when making appointments is the front office staff. Very rude and disinterested on the phone, and the while helping me choose contacts the boy was VERY disinterested and acted like he just wanted me out of there. Again though, the doctor himself is freaking awesome so ill continue going there.

Very bad customer service and i have not even made it inside yet, I have been waiting for an appointment for over a week, they rescheduled for another day, now called and have to reschedule my second 5 pm appointment due to a curfew that starts at 8 pm??? It makes no sense that all appointments after 3 pm are to be rescheduled due to a curfew. Will spend spend my money elsewhere from here on out. Wont be back
Very nice, professional, and time efficient. I have gone to nationwide vision before at a Phoenix location, but this one is much better because the staff is so much friendlier! My doctor had all my past paperwork transferred and ready, my exam went smoothly, and I even got help picking out a STYLE of glasses! rather than them just making me choose something on the spot.. everyone was kind, happy, and it was really just a great experience (:
When I scheduled my contact exam and showed up to my appointment it was nothing but confusion. Nationwide is out of network and when I got my glasses less than a year ago they price matched my benefits so I would stay with them, I was told that they would do the same for my contacts. I had an appointment scheduled for 1pm I didnt see a doctor until 2:10pm! I was told that they dont price match and when I told them that they did for my glasses and I called the day prior to my appointment for contacts and was told that they would do the same— I called twice to confirm. Everyone looked at me as if they had no clue what I was talking about..I was told to fill out all new paperwork even though nothing had changed then after I constantly kept asking why they said the paperwork changed, but when they pulled my paperwork the then said I just needed to initial old paperwork. They all seemed a bit confused. Bill the assistant manager was the one who said that they wouldnt price match and another girl advised that the last guy did do it doesnt work there anymore. No one admit to speaking to me the day prior so Bill said it must have been the store manager..who wasnt working the day of my appointment. I was extremely upset with the lack communication and Bill even laughed a few times when I was upset he was rude, unprofessional, and condescending. This was a terrible experience and I would never recommend the nationwide at Tempe marketplace again. If youre going to go to nationwide stay away from this location.
Ive been bringing my children here for the last three years an never had any problems. When ever I call my questions are answered also easy appt setting. When my daughter broke her glasses they were fixed right away. All workers nice and made our visit easy and fast.
Came in to my appointment earlier to fill up the paper work. I get called after 2 people that got here after me. And one of the employees comes by and asks Do you have an appointment?... Really?? Do you just think Im here for fun? How ridiculous, this people dont keep track of whos coming in to their office. Front desk lady was kind of rude also.

Well I have been to other vision stores, and when looking to see what my options are, of course Im lead to what my ins.covers which, Is very low on glasses, do to my limited ins. And the employees, would just say this, here is what your eligible for and leave me standing there. Well, now quite a difference here at this nationwide vision, first, off your welcomed right away, and then your helped,right away.Luke welcomes me and helps me with my needs, plus goes above and beyond, he knows Im limited, but, that doesnt keep him from treating me like I was well worth all the bells and whistles. He shows me styles that look good,options I never knew that exists, and no pressure, just, made me feel, like I was important, the other rep, named Happy was just as pleasent and good natured, she, also made our visit just as awesome as Luke. So Luke, and Happy, thank you for such great service, and I cant wait to wear, my new and definitely, improved glasses..

This was my first time getting glasses and the wait wasnt terribly long but all the staff were super friendly. The gentleman who helped me pay for my frames and lenses gave me priority shipping for free so Id have my new glasses before the holidays! Awesome service.

I love how their sales people just automatically add every option to your package and dont even ask you if you want it...they just ring it up and say That will be $400. How about starting with the BASE price and then asking me if I want optional stuff I dont need afterwards? Assuming I want every available option you offer and just automatically adding to my sale borders on outright FRAUD!
Luke Pool the manager and his team really took care of me. I had two designer sunglasses that the nose tips have fallen off. His team went above and beyond to find a replacement for my nose pieces. They didn’t even charge me for this service. I will certainly be going back for a follow up eye exam and a purchase of sunglasses.
Bill, the manager was so friendly and very helpful! My son and I have been to a few other nationwide vision locations and did not receive the same customer service. We will be back again.
I am forced to use Nationwide Vision to get glasses because the Vocational Rehab Agency who is working with SSDI and the Ticket to Work only contract with Nationwide Vision.I dont know how they contract together, but I have shown up twice so far and havent been able to helped to my satisfaction.I complained that I cant see in the light and that my eyes even bother me indoors if lighting conditions change. I was a driver and the eye doctor isnt comfortable recommending photo-gray lenses even though I was a driver and I plan to work in public and he refused to finish the glaucoma test. What bugged me the most about this Dr was that he only cared what he thought the government would be willing to pay for rather than what I needed in order to be a productive piece of the work force. I will not accept any glasses from them unless they are photo-gray and I offered to pay the difference, but since I have left there and had a day to think I have decided I want nothing to do with that location.Another thing that is terrible is they dont even have a water fountain or any filtered water or even a vending machine to get something to drink. I was there over an hour on 2 occasions and ran out of water. Once I walked over to Bar Louies and they poured me some and yesterday I had to try to tip my water bottle under the faucet in their dinky little sink.I was also treated poorly for being early. I almost felt accused of something. When the Dr was 45 minutes past his appointment and I said something the girl said (well you were early..]I see lots of vision places and the only way I will use Nationwide Vision is if they help me get a pair of glasses I can see with so I can do the type of work that I am accustomed to....
Walked in just in time for my appointment. Lady in the front tells me that I am late and that I have to be 30 minutes earlier for my check in time. Please note that I am a VERY organized person and I write everything down while scheduling an appointment. Not once did anyone mention that I had to be her 30 minutes earlier than my appointment. They say they accept walk ins, nobody else was there and they could not squeeze me in. Please train your employees to give out the proper information.. Went to Eyeglass World instead and saved a ton of money ($180!) and had excellent service. Would never go here or recommend it again.

Horrible customer service at front desk ! The girl made my appt a month prior when i walked in and then when i came in for appt she tells me it was an hour earlier than what we had agreed on, she didnt apologise or seemed to care to get me in when i was there, in an empty office ! Never again...
I only went in there to have my glasses adjusted but the process was swift and pleasant. The staff at this location are eager to help you with any problems you might face.
I didnt have a problem with their product, the doctor or the supporting staff other than the manager at this location. I have had a positive experience in prior years. I could say that they were amazing every time. Although the rest of the supporting staff seem to be okay, she has changed my mind in how I see this location. I was really upset from first time I spoke with her to not getting a call when the glasses arrived. I didnt like any part of my experience. But I felt bad about my experience because of the way I spoke to her. I have to own that. As a customer, I have no right to act entitled to having her best service. Just like she didnt need to be defensive and come off rude. But we were perfectly human that way. When I got home, I immediately called and apologized. Its tough enough we dont get along over things we dont understand or fear. I think based on this experience, I decided to change my 1 star to 5 stars because it humbled me as a consumer and a person.I hope we both learned.

While the people were nice and the service was somewhat fast, they performed very poor quality of service. All I needed was a screw replacement, but in doing so they ended up not only scratching the inside of my frames, but also chipped the side of my lens!If you care about your glasses go somewhere else for repair.

Im glad I checked this. Read the last two years worth. Id just like to leave this here. I work retail. Have been in customer service management for years. Let me just say, having poorly trained staff, attitude problems and gross incompetence reported in 7 out of 10 surveys, I start to wonder if the good ones are even actual customers. One or two bad experiences here and there are bound to happen. But just take a moment please, management, to point out that by having crappy customer service leads to a bad patient/customer service experience and screams at potential new patients to avoid your location. Im still going with the company but with this much negative publicity for this location, Im glad to say Ill find another. Take a moment to let it sink in that due to the poor level of service I read about, you lose a customer before they even walked in the door. I said soemthing. but how many others are there like me that wont say so? Hmmmm....
Horrible customer service. I purchased a year supply of contacts last month and was provided a sheet to claim a rebate. After following up on the rebate, I discovered that the brand I purchased was no longer valid for the rebate. Alcon advised me to call Nationwide and try to have it resolved with them. They advised this was happening with many customers and werent sure why Nationwide would still offer it. After speaking to the rude receptionist at Nationwide, she advised me that there was nothing they could do and didnt have an answer as to why they were offering the rebate. She also didnt seem to care about handling the situation and rushed off the phone. I really liked my doctor but will be finding another establishment with better trained front office staff. If you hoped for a rebate, good luck.

I should have read the reviews before completing services with this Nationwide location. I will not be returning. I was given the incorrect prescription for the trial contacts. When I informed 3 of the staff members... nothing was done to provide me a new pair to try with the correct prescription. I was also told my vision insurance was either glasses or contacts. When I called my insurance, I was informed contacts and frame could be covered or frame and lenses. When I brought in the coverage.... I was still told just glasses. I went ahead and accepted the glasses. Upon pick up, my right eye was an incorrect prescription. I was told.... oh its alright we will order a new lense. I dont know why they pretend that their mess up is suppose to be no big deal. Once I received my new lense, they replaced both lenses. I told them my left eye seemed a little off and I was then told my eyes will adjust to give it a week smh.... also, my lenses was half way in the frame because the girl was not able to get the lenses to click in place. Smh... Please... If you value your eyes.... go to a different Nation wide location.
When I went to pick up my glasses and get them sized I kept telling the guy that one side was higher than the other and he tried fixing them twice and I told him again that one side was higher then he insulted me by saying it’s cause my eyebrows are messy. When you could clearly tell even from the bottom of the lenses that they WERE UNEVEN.

Terrible service! Front office staff is rude, inconsiderate and not knowledgeable at all. The doctor is not professional and their salesman is only set on making them the most money with total disregard for the customer need. Most definitely will not be back.

I have been here three times, each time I encounter a rude staff in some way. Orders take forever to get in, and you get no notice once your lens or glasses have arrived. Good products but terrible service.
Have to agree with others here - Dont do it! Find somewhere else to have your vision needs serviced. These guys will find ANY WAY POSSIBLE to bill you for crap they didnt do, even if it is covered by your insurance! Then, youll wait six months to get your money back. Ill never visit here again.

Duane was a smooth talker that cost us over $400 for a pair on sunglasses and ONE pair of glasses. We were told that they would be in within two weeks. Four weeks and a broken lens later, we got the glasses. They never seemed to care that it took so long. Plus one of the sunglass lens popped out as soon as I got home. I will NEVER return or recommended them to anyone!!!
Its been almost a month and I have not received my TRAIL pair of contacts. Ive called once a week for the last 4 weeks. Seriously take the lesson I learned by not coming here. Because I didnt listen and I regret every second.
This Nation Wide location is absolutely horrendous! The staff is extremely rude and disrespectful and the optometrists working there are incompetent. If you are a younger person than the staff will try and take advantage of you. There have been several incidences at the Tempe Market Place Nationwide where the staff have tried to give me misinformation about my insurance and coverage. There is a pale Hispanic man with curly black hair and blue eyes that is especially bad with this. The old town Scottsdale Nationwide is much better, but I had such a bad experience with the Tempe Market Place location that I plan to never seek the services of any Nation Wide ever again. I think you would be better off going to literally anywhere else than seeking the services of this location. I think racial bias was also a factor in the terriable service I received.I wanted to get a year supply of contacts. As a busy college student it is difficult for me to curve time out of my schedule to go an appointment. This location is in a somewhat closer proximity to my university. The first appointment I had was with Dr. Peter Rosenberg. The prescription he wrote was inaccurate. He was surly throughout the appointment and rushed which is likely why my prescription was so inaccurate. The second time I made an appointment I was a mere two minutes late and the heavy set optometrist assistant told me I would have to re-schedule while I annoyed because my delay was caused by a transportation/traffic issue beyond me my control. My third appointment I saw Dr. David Christensen he put me in a more comfortable trial pair of contacts that were more accurate than the previous one. He told me that I wouldn’t need to come back I could just call into the location and order my 5.00 OD and OS Acuvue Vita lenses. I wore the contacts for a few weeks to make sure the prescription was accurate and when I called in to the Nationwide I had gone to I was told that Dr. Christensen had never signed off on the prescription. The young woman I spoke to told me that she would get in contact with the optometrist and call me back so I could go ahead and order my contacts. Three months later and I had yet to receive a call. I was very busy with my classes and activities that I couldn’t make time to call back to follow up. I called the Tempe Market Place location today to follow up and the young woman I spoke to told me that the prescription was in their system/ok’d by Dr. Christensen. Prior to me calling in today I did not get a call telling me this information like the other woman claimed she would. I asked the receptionist if the prescription was -5.00 she said it wasn’t, but she couldn’t give me the exact prescription on the phone because it would be a HIPPA violation. As a result I went to the Tempe Market Place location today to confirm the prescription and order my glasses. The prescription they had was -4.50 for each eye. This information is inaccurate to the trial contacts I had which were -5.00. My glasses perscription is right -4.75 and left -5.00. I had a long discussion with Dr. Christensen on my third appointment about how he was going to put me in -5.00 for each eye for contacts because there was not much different between the two eyes, so if I put my contact in the wrong eye it would be alright. While at the optometrist office today I was told my insurance did not cover the contacts. I knew this information was inaccurate because Dr. Christensen made sure to check and make sure my insurance covered the Acuvue Vita lenses. When I told the black haired blue’d man (I mentioned earlier) this information he changed what he was saying. He then claimed that my next available time to purchase contacts was 1/20/2020. I know this information is completely untrue because for my insurance I have the option to get an glasses or contacts every year until I turn 21. I did not order contacts which makes me believe that the Tempe Market Place Nationwide may have gone ahead and put an order on my insurance or ran it up somehow. Long story short, DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!
I was on the hunt for a in network provider for my EyeMed insurance. This place is super close to my house so ... I took a gamble . My arrival time was 10:10am (I was a walk in ) Front desk was friendly and let me know they took my insurance . After paperwork, eye testing, visit with the eye doc(eye Doc was friendly and professional )and consultation it was 11:05am when I was done! LUKE The manger was Fantastic! Super knowlagebe got me the best deal - after my mail in rebate I will only be paying 150.00 out of pocket for 1 year supply of Toric contacts, my visit and fitting !Only bummer but Im used to it because of my prescription no trials on hand .Luke assured me that if my contacts dont work out or need an adjustment it will be as easy as sending them back to get an exchange which they will do at the store.I will write a second post when my contacts and trials come in and rate that process . So far so good keep it up Nationwide!Cant write a 2nd post so Ill add to this one : I received my trials that Saturday and then made an appointment a week from that Saturday they fit great . I went to get my prescription got my Toric lenses . No complaints . I would recommend. Just ask if the trials will be the same they will be ordering for the actual prescription if you are picky about the brand or style.
This is place is horrible, came in with my fiancé and his grandmother after hearing about a promotion they were having. This then big unpleasant lady kept denying it and was very rude to his grandmother. They do not deserve any type of business at all, they are not friendly. Won’t be back ever again that is for sure. If a place cannot give good customer service they should not be in business and shouldn’t treat possibly customers so nasty either!!
Rude service. Receptionist with the darker hair gave my boyfriend and multiple other patients the upmost attitude. Just overall find another location, youll be much happier.
My lens are defective. #1-They wouldnt replace because it was beyond 30 days. #2- although, I paid for insurance, the amount is pay today, was more than I paid initially. #3-they didnt believe me. Customer service rated very low.
These people just don’t communicate at all.They don’t write enough on your personal charts and that causes everyone to be confused.
They rake your wallet over the coals. The staff is the absolute rudist one I have ever come accross. If I owned it I would fire them immediately.

Everyone here is super friendly. Cheryl help me out and she was amazing. Everyone else was wonderful tooo. As soon as you walk it the acknowledge that your there. The doc was awesome tooo easy to talk to and know what he is doing. I am blind from one eye and all the other doc always have effffed up my glasses by making one side thicker and this guy balaces them so i wouldnt get headache and i didnt even have to tell him. I love this place

This is the WORST service ever!!! I only go to this location because it is super close to me but my son has had to get multiple diff. prescriptions there and long story short they go past date due time promises did not get the prescription right which effected my sons vision in a negative way I am so angry and the last time that I had to pick up from there it was me calling to see if it was ready and turns out it had already been there in office 3 days prior to me calling. I would NOT recommend this location to anyone!!!!

This place is terrible! I have been waiting for my appointment for over 45 mins. They are very unprofessional and they don’t seem knowledgeable about at all! Do not come here!

Ridiculous wait times
I called the office to ask a question regarding my prescription and the woman who answered the phone sounded like she had just been woken up and annoyed that I was calling. In her defense, she did answer my question. However, she sounded lazy and condescending in doing so.

Receptionsists are rude as hell I had an appointment but because of the holidays there is a lot of traffic, I even called to let them know I would be a little late when I got there, there was literally no one in the office it was completely empty, it wasnt busy at all they still refused to take me, they lost my business.
