This is one of the cutest places by The University of Arizona! The small garden is incredibly pleasant to walk through as you can see all sorts of displays. During our visit, we were able to see the fresh flower exhibit which was truly a showcase of how dedicated the staff is here. I recommend coming During their special events or tea ceremony to really get an experience of Japanese culture!
A corner of tranquility in Tucson. I visited the Gardens for the first time tonight and was transported back to my experience of visiting Japan in 2019. It is challenging to create a garden experience that brings a sense of tranquility and peace within a city, but Yume has done just that. I highly recommend having your own moment of meditation here.
This is NOT an imperial Japanese garden. So do not expect it to be. It is meant to be a series of smaller tableaus. Scenes of domestic gardens are what is on offer here. And they are LOVELY. Especially in such a difficult climate. I found it very peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of places to sit and contemplate. The koi pond is lovely. There are many fabled elements if you know Japanese folk lore. Really dont miss it. A house or two separated from the Tucson botanical gardens. (Would be an excellent intimate venue for a wedding if they allow.)
Another hidden Tucson beauty!! First time there, great history lesson upon arrival and the park was stunningly decorated with Japanese Flower arrangements as a special treat! Great day/way to support LOCAL!
Very nicely done and quiet. Look it up before you go as its quite small (very) but its very nicely done. Its the kind of place thats nice to sit quietly for awhile even though the sound of cars will replace running water. The fish are super friendly and I appreciate all the little details.I look forward to visiting in other seasons as well
It’s a beautiful and quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is by far my favorite place to escape
Very nice garden to spend a couple hours relaxing. They have a really cute idea where you can take parasols which are great for taking pictures and also to help keep you from getting sunburned or super hot. Its definitely smaller than, say, the garden in Oregon but really nicely done for the amount of space they have and environment. The staff are very friendly.
What a lovely hidden gem in the midst of midtown Tucson! These Gardens are modeled after what it might be like in a small Japanese home garden as opposed to a larger fancy set of formal gardens. They are precious and peaceful and quite unlike anything else in Tucson. We visited at night, when the garden was delicately lit by many lovely lanterns. It was the perfect end to a busy day.
More sad & neglected unlike any other japanese garden i have visited
Have wanted to see this garden for a long time. Went there for the Japanese lantern show. Some of the lanterns were nice. Some had beer advertising and some were hung on cut branches that had dried up leaves. The garden itself was okay but it definitely wasnt worth $16 a ticket.
Absolutely fabulous!Incredibly serene to experience, and one feels zen.Highly recommended.
Small non-profit garden on Tucsons east side. Wonderful place to visit and recharge your batteries in a beautiful setting.
Very nice people, however, going through in March for the price was a mistake. This little place has potential and it might be worth the admission when all is bloomed... So wait until the garden is in bloom. I wish I had. Or they could lower admission during the off season.
Very peaceful and relaxing. I totally felt transported away from tucson.
I visited the gardens in February 2020 and enjoyed it. The owner is quite friendly and passionate about the gardens, which comes through during the visit. Highly recommend these gardens for a respite from the world. I will go back if I’m ever in Tucson again.
04192021 small, but the idea is important when you think about, less is more,,,, or,,,, a grist of truth, example, people were made to think simplistic because there was no material to work with so it was easier to relegate your thinking
Nice place to explore in Tucson Arizona with kids :)
Im glad Yume is there but its so tiny I wont be back. Wish you had money to expand.
Ok speaking from a mans point of view......I was quite surprised by the tea party.....and NO my wife did not drag me there.....the whole area is a work in progress/growth.....sit at any one of the tranquil sites and the sounds of the city vanish as you clear out all the rubble of daily life......I do recommend that if by chance you go then do clear your mind with your old thoughts and welcome the new ones in......
What a beautiful garden. Such a quiet, serene place. If you want somewhere to go and relax and take things at a slower pace, a great place to go and meditate. This is nothing like some of the other Japanese gardens I have visited before, this has a very homey, down to earth feel, more like something you might find in a traditional Japanese home.
Amazing experience. There is such a peace that comes with walking through the gardens and sitting here and there. It is so beautifully expressed. You can feel the passion that has gone into the creation. Hidden gem!
Ive never been in the garden before but would like to visit, once it is safe again to go to places like this. 😞
What a lovely little garden. So Peaceful, contemplative, relaxing, beautiful, and up and coming. The gardens are very new, having opened in January 2013. The plants are growing in fine, the layout is enjoyable. It is to be appreciated by many who adore to simplicity of this art. We both enjoyed this stop very much.
Very nice. Not a flowery botanical garden like you might expect. Relaxing.
Not very much to see... over priced and the whole vibe was lost due to the funky music played on the computer of the young man beside the desk! It should not be listed as a tourist attraction - merely a small gift shop with a few displays of art here and there. 2 Thumbs down!
Very serene gardens in a quite accessible location, its really nice to see some Japanese culture here in Tucson. The owner, Patricia, creates some really amazing Ikebana flower arrangements. They also have a gift shop if you are looking for something from Japan after strolling the gardens.
Small place but if you take your time and enjoy what they have you will not be disappointed. My date and I enjoyed our time here.
Surprising little Japanese garden/museum run by a German woman in the Arizona desert. Small themed areas representing various garden types and some small structures and water features made for a very nice hour or two diversion from life outside the bamboo fence. Small gift shop with Japanese items as well as a collection of arisnal ikibana vessels for purchase.
Not so much dislike. Adults entry costs $15 each. Displaces are not very good.
Beautiful and peaceful place to go! Cute and fun souvenirs!
If youre looking to experience something like the Japanese Tea Garden in SF, Yume is not the place for you. Visited a few months ago and found the grounds poorly kept, with native plants invading the garden and path borders. The decorative buildings appear to have been put together with items from Ikea. This tourist trap is a desert backyard made over in the *idea* of a Japanese Garden, without attention for the details of a real one.
It was lovely, peaceful and interesting. The staff was knowledgeable and thoughtful. The grounds are well cared for. The set up is multiple different connecting Japanese gardens.
This place is a big ripoff. Save your money and go to the botanical gardens. This place is so small, very little to see, and so overpriced. Not a good way to spend 20 minutes for $15 a person. In regards to the owner’s rude response, yes, we went as a family and we all noticed how bad your garden was. Good job, Sherlock Holmes. Please give us a refund.
I personally been there but I heard amazing things about it I been wanting to go
Its beautiful and peaceful.live the resident cat that hangs out here. The gift shop is pretty nice. Love to go when They have the ikebana.
Small but a real gem
Love to wander here
Extremely pleasant experience. Just a tad pricey for the amount of time spent there.
A wonderful experience, there were 40-50 ikebana arrangements for a spring flower festival which was absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended :)
Yume is an amazing little Japanese Garden that I highly recommend. It is a great atmosphere for walking, sitting and contemplating. I will definitely be returning in the future!
While a small space, it has all of the essential elements of a Japanese Garden. Best to visit in a cool part of the day so that you can spend time reflecting in the garden.
Dont miss this oneIf you speak Japanese - youll be rght at home-
Unique and beautiful.
The garden is a heroic effort to bring a cool, green, wet, perfectly orderly garden to our desert. The family membership is fairly reasonable, considering that it allows you to stop by as often as you want any day of the week, feed the Koi and have a moment of beauty. What a gift to Tucson!
Small, but well designed. Peaceful. They have a pretty koi pond.
Nice clean restaurant with great service.
This garden is very basic, quite a bit of it just seems unfinished. It needs a lot more vegetation to make it interesting.
The garden is really small. We went on enchanted night and it was a waste of money, it cost twice as much as a normal day and you cant actually see anything because theres barely any lanterns. We were told there was tea and some cakes at the back of the garden and when we got there we asked for tea and then they told us sorry you can only choose either the tea or cakes after we had already got our half filled cups of tea. The oragami room was not impressive at all. The only good things was a small Japanese style cottage, the pottery, and the koi pond. But it was deffinitly not worth the $15 a person.
Very disappointing and overpriced. I have been to the magnificent Morikami Japanese gardens in Boca Raton, FL. The admission prices are the same but Morikami has acres and acres of gardens, waterfalls, banzais and a large museum with magnificent art. The Tucson garden is a fancy back yard. $3-4 should be the most they should charge.
A garden like no other. Friendly and informative, the outside world disappears when you enter
Lovely tiny traditional Japanese garden tucked in midtown Tucson. Buy the economical family pass.
A peaceful oasis in the middle of Tucson. Ill definitely be going back.
The grounds staff was very nice and helpful in identifying the areas!
Very relaxing to walk around and sit in its just a little too small.
Nice after dinner fun with very oral Japanese woman
Beautiful Japanese Gardens with Koi Pond. Sit and relax!
Very disappointing!! Not much to see, very few flowers which I assume were Japanese flowers and few plants, you have to guess what type of flowers they are no forms of identifyingNot worth admission fee
Wonderful gardens and Koi pond.
The little garden is really beautiful. Though you need to pay to visit.
Beautiful place. Only thing is owner is rude!!
A wonderful oasis for relaxing and appreciating beauty in the middle of the city.
Very relaxing garden, great place to take the family.
Pricey, not very quiet with all the traffic noise. Dont bother going at night, its too dark.
Peaceful and welcoming....
Relaxing nice place
Amazingly beautiful and relaxing
Petite nugget of Japanese garden perfection.
Really fresh and tasty
A special treat
Lovely place for contemplation
