The optometrist is good; however, the staff is very incompetent. They do not know what they are doing when it come to Insurance. My husband needs medically necessary contacts and is covered at 100% with his insurance. He has been going there for about 3+ years. Every time he goes in there they try to balance bill him, which is completely illegal. It should never take half a year to get medically necessary contacts that are covered by your insurance at 100%. And just when you think you have them trained… the next time you go in it’s starting all over. If you want the headaches by all means please use this optometrist.
I have been going to my Eye Dr.in various locations for at least 7 years. We recently moved to Williamsburg and while I have not been to this specific location, I called to see if they either carried my prescription in stock or if I could get one contact as I have already ordered another supply but they have not been delivered and of course I’ve ripped my last contact. I was told that they save the trial lenses for customers which technically I AM or should I say WAS. I would have happily paid for the one contact. Poor customer service makes or breaks companies all the time especially service driven companies. My family’s business WILL be taken elsewhere. Highly disappointed.
Stopped by today to look at sunglasses. I was promptly greated by a charm school drop out. She said Put your mask on and sanitize your hands while your in the office.I dug through my bag to put my ask on, even though the rules have changed, on mask.I went about looking at sunglasses. The lady in there didnt seen real knowledgeable about the different sunglasses nor did she seem interested in helping me. Perhaps, it was because I didnt need prescription sunglasses, who knows.I left with a sour taste, especially after I has received outstanding service there just a year ago.
Excellent staff and the doctor very professional.
I had a very pleasant experience. The doctor and staff were great. Rhonda helped me with my payments and picking out glasses she was incredibly helpful and a pleasure to be around. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! I’m happy I found this place and am happy everyone was so nice and helpful especially Rhonda! Thank you!
Took my daughter in for an eye exam and everyone was professional and efficient. We especially loved our experience with Rhonda. She assisted us with picking out frames, answered our questions about lenses, and was so thoughtful in explaining our costs and benefits plan. She rocks!
My experience was ok, I made an appointment asking for “a basic eye exam to renew my glasses prescription”. The day of my appointment is was just a basic exam and we talked about my glasses and if my contacts were still ok/comfortable. DIDNT realize that during the basic eye exam that they were doing the contact lense exam as well which is what I asked for over the phone. So I assumed them asking about my contacts was just part of the exam until I went to pay is when I found out I was getting f charged for something I didn’t ask for out of my own words. The lady checking me out wasn’t helpful on that part, she said we don’t add on anything or schedule clients without them telling us exactly what they want and I said ok so for future reference what would I need to say instead of asking for a basic eye exam to renew my prescription because I didn’t say anything about contacts to the guy I scheduled the appointment with and she said well she can’t redo anything and I said ok and continued to pay for something I didn’t ask for and left.
Great experience! I have been going to this location for 3 years now and will continue to do so for years to come. Customer service is superb. Rhonda is wonderful and goes above and beyond for her customers. I highly recommend this location! You won’t be disappointed.
Visited the store last week, they were very clean and Rhonda was great with the selection of both glasses and sunglasses for me. Outstanding customer service and very quick with appointment. Thank you Rhonda!
I was looking for a Eye dr open on Sat and found this place. I had a great experience with everyone. I was met with some unforeseen circumstances and this office made sure i still got my glasses at no charge. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone looking for a great eye doctor. Thanks for the outstanding service.
Doctor is nice enough but a couple of the office ladies are very rude. They could not get my insurance to work so I agreed to pay out of pocket fees. Two of the women quoted me a price before the exam, which was already on the higher end of rates I have seen in the past. The woman I checked out with told me the fee I was quoted was a reduced rate since I didn’t have insurance (something neither of the other two ladies mentioned). She then quoted me for a year supply of contacts. The quote was over $200 more for a year supply of contacts than what I could purchase online. I told her I would rather purchase at the cheaper price online. She then adjusted the exam price back to the full price since I was not purchasing contacts through them. Neither she nor the other two ladies that quoted me before the exam told me it was dependent on purchasing contacts or glasses. The lady was also very rude as soon as she figured out I would not be purchasing contacts. Very poor customer service in my opinion. I understand that as a business they need customers to purchase glasses and contacts through them and if the price had been close I would have; however, they have now lost any future business.
I really appreciated the time and attention I got from Rhonda at the Williamsburg office. She picked out great frames for me right away but suggested other things that could work. She spent the time to tell me about my vision plan so I understood how it worked, and could not have been more attentive.
When I called to get information on my new lenses I was told they dont keep that information as they were doing inventory on their computers nor did they have my last appointment information which was in May!! What kind of crock is that I have worked in medical before and we never got rid of pending information to do inventory on our computer what frustrated me the most they did not have my information in my records even the medical insurance which was given to them Lady was rude to day the least
Had issues with the insurance not being billed properly. Have been going to this location for years but may have to find a new eye doctor. Glasses were ordered over a month ago and still have not recieved them yet. When you call the staff yells we will call when they come in and that the lab is backed up. This is unacceptable.
Had an issue with my Eye Med insurance that was not my fault. Office manager stayed on the phone with me while they figured it our for over an hour. When I went in the next day to get my glasses, insurance did not honor my cash allowance I was supposed to have received and the office manager said, Youve been through enough with them. Well honor it for you. She certainly didnt have to do that, but it was greatly appreciated!
I’ve been going to eye doctors for contact lens exams every year for 15 years. This place was my worst experience- super pushy salesman techniques from the front office staff and the eye doctor didn’t even change my prescription- they asked for my old one. i would never recommend this place, i chose it for the convenience of scheduling an appointment online, but definitely not worth it.plus their frames selection is ugly.
This was, by far, the WORST eye care facility I have ever been to. Not only did I have to wait for hours, I had to deal with RUDE and uneducated staff! Then the Dr....., if we can call them that, prescribed a script that was clearly, or unclear to my eyes, not right for me but then had the audacity to tell me that’s what their equipment said I needed and they can do anything about it! What????? So, long story short, both my daughter and I spent over $2000.00, we received sh*tty service, I don’t usually use that language, however after giving them 6 months to Correct the problems and they haven’t I’m pretty mad! Both our lenses in our new glasses were chipped around the edges and the wrong script, then to top it off, the year worth of contacts we both received were also not clear, I feel like I get sea sick when I wear them, and every other contact rips when I first open a brand new set and try to put them in!!!!! Now today, the last straw, one contact ripped in my eye as I was driving to work, rubbed my eye and the contact ripped right in half, had to come home, a piece was stuck in my eye and tried to remove it. That cause the skin on my eyeball to scratch and now I have a “bubble” under my eyeball skin. Went in to the office for help at 9am, the rude lady at the front tells me she can’t help me until 1:30 pm!!! To bad for me! I’m reporting this place and o hope no one or their children ha r to experience the awful, scary, frustrating, and pain experience we did, not to mention the 2weeks of waisted time having to deal with these people and missed work, not to mention the money wasted on services that we could if received from a hobo on the side of the road!!! I hope this helps someone. Do Not expose your children to this place, they will have lasting terrible effects and problems with school. You will waste your money, and will be made to deal with unnecessary stress. We all know that now a days that if we can just avoid stress alone we are 1 step ahead.
I had a very good experience at my eye doctor in Williamsburg ! The staff is very pleasant and Rhonda was especially very helpful and sweet. She helped me find the best price for my contacts.
I will never go back to them again. The insensitivity of the staff is astonishing. My house burned down with my daughter’s glasses inside. I was told when I purchased the glasses through them there would be a 1 year one time replacement. When I called to try to get the replacement pair, I was told it doesn’t cover “loss” so unless I have the frames to turn in they would do nothing. But then she thought fully tried to sell me something.Go to Target Optical. They are kind and friendly and far less expensive.
When I tell you, I had the BEST EXPERIENCE with this office today, thats an understatement. I went to two different offices - the one in Hampton and the one in Newport News and they refused to give me any assistance. Their answer to my problems- give them over $200 to fix a glasses issue that was a warranty defect. I drove all of the way to Williamsburg and through tears, explained what happened to my glasses. Not only did they replace my frames, they also put in an order to replace my lenses, which had minor scratches, but still enough to where they thought it would do me good to replace them. From now on, even though we live in Hampton, my whole family will be going here. Thank you so much for taking care of me. With the week Ive had, I needed someone to be nice to me and the Williamsburg location went above and beyond to give me great customer service.
I had a great experience at MyEyeDr. They took my budget into consideration and helped find me a great deal. Pam also took the time to find frames I loved! Easiest experience Ive had buying glasses.
I have been going here for years, same insurance too. This year there are a couple of new girls there who were completely confused about what my VSP insurance paid for glasses and originally told her it was $325 out of pocket. I knew this to be incorrect based and what had always been covered before, after about 30 minutes going back forth It was finally straightned out... All they had to do was look at the previous years charges to see, cause coverage did not change. Then my wife who is diabetic was asked by the doctor to do a diabetic scan which is a covered benefit on my insurance. But they were insistent about going through my medical insurance when it is clearly stated as a benefit. UGH! New provider time it seems.
I have been taking my family here for about 7 years -- no complaints and only praise. The staff is solid and the doctor always answers questions with a fair amount of detail. Weve never had an insurance issue even though weve changed insurance companies/plans a number of times (not to mention the optometry office itself changed hands from National Optometry, I think, to MyEyeDr). I strongly recommend this optometry office.
Brought my 8 year old here and there doctor and staff were absolutely incredible. Would come back for the rest of the family
Would give zero stars if i could. if i had $1 for every time they told me well give you a call by the end of the day. needless to say im still waiting for the call and ive called the office everyday for the last week and a half....and still dont have a prescription
Continue to have good experiences with MyEyeDr Williamsburg. Called for an appointment on July 12 and saw the doctor the next day. I have been going for years and surprised to see negative google reviews.
Extremely professional and friendly staff. I had an urgent situation where my glasses were destroyed, my prescription had expired and I needed an exam ASAP so I could get glasses made as quickly as possible. This office fit me into their busy schedule, then the doctor examined my eyes plus gave me a trail pair of contact lenses to hold me over till my glasses were made. Additionaly I learned more about the health of my eyes and the doctor explained exactly what he was doing every step of the way. I’ve wore glasses most of my life and never knew exactly what most of the process is during my yearly eye exams, till becoming a patient here. Definitely will be returning and highly recommend this office.
I had to go here on 8/15 or 8/16 because the Hampton VA hospital didn’t have any available openings. They gave Tricare West the incorrect location, or so that’s what Tricare West said. I asked to be seen at the closest office which is the one located in Williamsburg. Tricare West confirmed my appointment location about a week or so prior to my appointment date and I even received a text message from myeyedr. I called Tricare West to confirm the appointment the morning of my appointment. I missed my appointment because there wasn’t clear communication between Myeyedr and Tricare West, but Myeyedr was able to squeeze me in at 2pm. After my appointment was over the lady at the front desk told me that they would fax or email my documents to the VA, but that was a lie because the VA hasnt received anything and I’m still without glasses. It seems that all this office cares about is eyeglass sales, given the optometrist was very pleasant, that was the only highlight of this appointment.
Dr. Ambrose and staff in Williamsburg are amazing! They were honest and fair! I’ve definitely found my eye Dr. at myeyedr!!
The staff is great, environment is clean and inviting and the Doctors all talk in a caring manner.
Love this staff and Dr. Ambrose! They know me by name when I walk in!
Not happy at all with My Eye Doctor. My son was fitted for his glasses, I was told his glasses would be in, in a month and come to find out they were never ordered. Poor is my rating.
Complete Ripoff - Use Americas Best instead. $750 for an eye exam and glasses is pretty outrageous, especially when there are better value for money options here in town.
I have given this office multiple chances, but they are repeatedly unorganized, slow, and confusing. I switched to Colonial Eye Care which is a much more pleasant experience.
Dr Ambrose and staff are A+++ professional. Highly recommend!
Responsive appointment schedule and was available on a Saturday. Nice selection of insurance options as well.
Terrible experience, STAFF was extremely rude and unprofessional.
