Dr. Newton is personable, knowledgeable, and highly trained. You can talk to him, and he will patiently answer all of your questions. He is tops. The staff is friendly, helpful, and will take the time to help you with your order. I like this office, and I have been a patient here for a long time.

I have a fairly complicated prescription which changes with some regularity. Having visited several area optical shops over the past few years, my experience shows me that the folks at Tunnel Vision know their stuff. They have a great selection of frames accompanied by a competent staff who have gone the extra mile for me on more than one occasion.

Dr. Newton is one of the most caring and professional doctors I’ve ever seen. He treats you individually instead of like a number. We moved an hour and a half away but still go back to him. He’s been our family eye doctor for over 15 years.

Tunnel Vision got my eyeglass progressive prescription right the first time, after my previous eye doctor could not get them right after a very frustrating 4 attempts. I am very happy and extremely relieved. Staff are friendly and professional. Dr. William Teague was great and was able to determine what the other doctors were getting wrong with my other glasses. Overall just ok experience. The people were nice, but my glasses came in with a different finish and really didn’t fit right. They bent the frames and told me there was no refund option. I was told I could pick something else but if I picked something less expensive they wouldn’t refund any of the balance. I wouldn’t recommend.

This had been my first experience at Tunnel Vision (in the past I had strictly gone through Walmart), and let me tell you, there is no comparison!!! Every staff member I came in contact with was so sweet and helpful. Dr. Newton was very nice, and professional!! I was able to feel comfortable through the whole process! It is on the higher end when it comes to pricing, but it is so worth it!!! A beautiful selection of high quality glasses and after picking and ordering the frames I liked, it was only a two week wait to receive them!! Since Dr. Lear left, I have seen Dr. Teague and am happy to have seen a consummate optometrist such as he for several years now. I have been going here for about 10 years, since I moved to Asheville, and wouldnt think of going anywhere else.

First visit. Had been way too long since I had an exam. Dr. newton was great, easy to understand and quite thorough. All staff were pleasant and considerate, great COVID protocol. The young man who helped me pick out frames was great, unfortunately I dont remember his name but props to him!

Needed a quick check because of eye irritation. They were able to fit me in right away and diagnosed the problem immediately. Friendly and knowledgable staff.

Doctors were great and it was a clean facility. Other than that, I think the glasses selection are terrible. Overall I am unhappy with my purchase and wished I had gone with my gut instead of listen to the technician telling me they look good. I was validated when everyone in my family told me how I felt the day I walked out. I feel like a jabroni and am already looking at another pair elsewhere. This is my fault and I take accountability for how much of a clown I look like. I should have gone with my gut when the technician had me try on a pair of glasses that were pretty much straight from the set of Harry Potter and looked at me serious. I swear I thought it was a joke at first. NOPE.

Tunnel Vision went the extra mile to assist my 85 year old parents in selecting frames for their new prescriptions. My parents had previously gotten overwhelmed in the eye glass frame department following their eye exam and left without ordering anything. I called the office and explained what had happened and asked to schedule an appointment when I could accompany them back to the office. The gentleman that assisted us was very nice and it appeared he had been informed that my parents might require a little different attention given their prior experience. We succeeded in ordering frames for both parents! It seems like everything gets harder as we all get older. Its nice that Tunnel Vision understands this and helped make one task a little easier for my parents.

Tunnel Visions staff have always been so friendly and go out of their way to tell me what to expect cost-wise as well as honesty regarding which frames look best vs not. Dr, Newton has helped my vision (just slightly needed) with contacts and glasses. He knows what to ask/how to test my vision to find the exact strength.Tunnel Vision has more of a small town/friendly atmosphere compared to other larger eye offices in Asheville while still maintaining a large array of frames, care, equipment and flexibility with appointments.

Waited for my appointment for a month. Made sure they were in our insurance network when I made the appointment. Staff was rude immediately upon arrival. Watched them turn away an elderly woman who was just there to pick up her glasses because, We are really busy. We dont have time. When I went up, they asked if there was any insurance to file and when I handed them my insurance card - they said I would just have to pay cash because they recently stopped taking our insurance. Drove an hour to get to this place. Just awful.

There was a small hiccup which the manager resolved promptly. I admire their COVID-19 compliance and safety standards. I’ve since moved an hour hour away but will travel for quality care. I have never been so frustrated with a business in my life. I’ve been waiting for over a month to get in for a contact lense fitting, I’m on my last pair of contacts and have an appointment tomorrow to get fitted and get all of my new contacts. This morning I received a call from Elizabeth who told me that my Medicaid ID number was coming up invalid and that due to this I would have to pay out of pocket. Having just used my Medicaid recently for other dr appointments this seemed strange so I immediately called Medicaid and got my ID number, and while on the phone, the agent made sure she was able to pull up my information with no problem, and said there was no reason they shouldn’t be able to see it on their end. Assuming it was a mistake, and having verified this information, I called back in to Tunnel Vision with my ID number. It was a different woman who answered who would not tell me her name (I asked her name after this next part transpired). She put in the number and again said I could not be located and immediately said that I would have to pay out of pocket. She put me on hold and said she was going to try one more time. She came back and again said I couldn’t be found and would have to pay out of pocket. No apologies, no “let me look into this further” (even though the Medicaid agent said to have the employee call if there were any issues because again I DO have Medicaid). I said ok well what can I do since I have it, they’re telling me I have it, I have my ID number, I use it regularly so I know it’s active. (So many questions) I asked her if she was able to call them and told her the agent told me to have them call if there were any issues. She told me if a person doesn’t pull up in their system they use then they have to pay out of pocket. Again no willingness to help, or even show consideration or the slightest empathy as she could tell I was trying to get this taken care of any way I could on my end. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they weren’t in today, I asked the managers name which was Stephanie but was told she couldn’t give out a last name. I asked this woman’s name and she told me she wasn’t the one I spoke with earlier (not relevant, I wanted her name because she showed zero compassion and should not be in any type of customer service job). I get it, trust me, I worked front desk in hospitality for years, offices get busy, you don’t want to take the time to take an extra 5 minutes to call and verify the information, but this is someone who has been waiting for over a month to get in, desperately needs these contacts as I don’t currently have a backup pair of glasses (my own issue perhaps, but makes the appointment a little more pressing), has a one year old so it’s difficult to get to appointments sometimes anyway, and definitely doesn’t have the extra money to pay for something that should be covered but because of a glitch and some inconsiderate, unhelpful, honestly truly disappointing employees, I now have to wait even longer, find a different eye dr apparently, and have had to spend the extra time, energy, and possibly money to figure it all out. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed and I took the time to write all of this because it is wrong how I was treated and to be honest, everyone deserves better than that.I would hope a manager would contact me. I had an eye emergency after my puppy stepped on my eye. It was the weekend. I got a call back from on call doc and was seen that same afternoon for what was a scratched cornea.
