Perhaps somethings changed between all these positive reviews and now, but this coffee shop came across as simply pretentious.Pros: Nice location, friendly staff, and, beautiful white decor.Cons:- Heavily overpriced, especially given the smaller cup sizes.- The mocha I got, tasted weak (granted that is a slightly more technical drink to make).- Ridiculous 1 hour limit on the maximum time you can occupy a table. You better make notes before you go sit there to talk to a friend ;)For a business marketing themselves as sustainable, they sure use an obnoxious amount of electricity in lighting, during the bright of day. Not to mention the flimsy chairs there, despite being sustainably made, and European design and whatnot, are not quite functional, and are probably unsustainable even over a few years. Sorry, this trend of overcharging people in the name of appearance and sustainability, without getting The basics of a coffee shop right, cannot be condoned. Not recommended.

Delightful local roaster. The staff are attentive, pleasant, and efficient. A good variety of options for food and drinks. I ordered cold brew one day. I returned the next day and had a great drip coffee and the cold brew shake for my friend. Well- explained quality products with locally sourced ingredients. Reasonably priced whole bean coffee as well. My questions and comments were not an inconvenience to the staff who were very helpful.

I loved how clean this place was! Everything is white so you would know if it wasn’t but they keep this place looking amazing.I loved the aesthetic and simplistic menu, I went with the sparkling matcha but definitely will be back to try other menu items

Very impressed with the quality of pour over and espresso drinks I got here. They use one of the best espresso machine (slayer) in the market, and for a local coffee shop in a college town, this is just truly amazing. I could tell that baristas are very well-trained when pulling a shot of espresso. For single origin pour over, they have a very high quality machine that makes it consistent every time. Overall a must-visit place for specialty coffee lovers in town!

Best cappuccino in Evanston! They really know what they are doing here. Cap is served as traditional 8 oz with foam art. Smooth flavor and lid placed correctly with seam to back. Modern, bright atmosphere. Only suggestion is get better ice for cold drinks, pieces are too small and go through drink lid. Overall, great experience!

This place has grown on me. Now its my favorite coffee shop in Evanston.

Newport Coffee House is awesome. The vibe is perfect for getting work done. The quiches are delicious. Drinks are made with care. The workers are passionate about finding you a drink that matches what you like in a coffee, and will hand craft pour over options if you talk to them about what youre interested in. Definitely worth a visit!

Its okay

They have a proper espresso machine, none of that la marozoco garbage. Wish the roasts leaned more light than medium/dark. Nevertheless, the espresso blend works well. Some of the single origins have potential as espressos but not currently offered, asked the barista and was told soon come.

High quality coffee and pastries, and friendly employees.

Everything about this cafe is beautiful- the color choices, the font of the menu, and the display of the available bakery items. Drinks and food were also very good.

One star for the coffee which was great, one for the service which was great! However did not feel Covid safe as all their customers had no masks on who weren’t eating or drinking and some were waking around.

Pretty good coffee! Cant wait for COVID19 to be over so we can actually have a cup of coffee at the location, but otherwise its a pretty spacious coffeehouse.

Highly recommend if you love specialty coffee. The espresso blend is complex and delicious. The single origin Ethiopian was great as a pour over. The shop is exceptionally beautiful and the staff is just lovely. Had a great chat with Lotta, the owner. Bought two bags of beans. Added later: The natural-processed Ethiopian beans we bought were delicious third-wave coffee!

Probably my favourite coffee shop in Evanston! I love the whole beans that you can get here as local roasts, and the in-house drinks are also really good! They have a lot of non-dairy milk options and a nice, vibrant atmosphere to study or chat in. Usually pretty crowded and hard to find a seat, but very worth stopping in!

Excellent coffee shop in Evanston. This is an elegant coffee shop offering gourmet coffee. Unlike other similar places they offer a choice of milk making it easy for those with milk.restrictions or simply not wanting whole milk. Its a bit pricey but comfortable and the service is excellent.

Best coffee in downtown Evanston

Everyone here is friendly, kind, and the service is unmatched. The food is amazing--you have to try the Swedish cinnamon rolls. Just a great place to get coffee, eat, get work done, a very cozy and warm environment. Would go here over any chain coffee store any day of the week.

Best coffee around! food is fresh and delicious, decor is sunny and very scandanavian with little, subtle touches of sweden. staff are friendly and very accommodating. especially enjoyable on a cloudy day, as the bright ambiance will surely put you in a good mood.

Love the design. The pastries were not super fresh, but it was a Sunday. The coffee was good, but I like mine in round China mugs, not glasses, so that was a kind of a downer.

Sure, yet one more coffeehouse, but the design of this new place stands out. Clean, bright, open, comfortable. And a fine cappuccino too.

Unfortunately I was not impressed. There were 3 open tables labeled no laptop table. All other tables were filled. I just paid $12 for beverage and food and $4 for parking and the woman at the counter told me I had to move from the no laptop table where I was seated charging my device to share another table with other patrons to leave the no laptop table open. Seems unreasonable considering I just paid and committed to being there for 2 hours.

Every time I stop at Newport, the staff are friendly and the coffee is great. It gets crowded here, but the one table they had open in the back was perfect for a quick biz meeting.
