I’ve been coming to Vision Specialists for a couple years, and Dr. Kate is the most thorough eye doctor I’ve ever been to! She checks aspects of my eye health that previous doctors hadn’t checked or spoken about. She takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, and I feel like I understand my eye health so much better.The staff is also wonderful and very professional. I recently had an emergency and the whole office was so accommodating about making sure I was taken care of.The office also has a great selection of glasses, and they are helpful without being pushy. My experience here has been wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone!

Very friendly staff, and a very thorough exam.We specifically chose this place because their standard eye exam doesnt require eye dilation because they have a special camera that can see the eye without dialting. My husband and daughter were thrilled.Really great experience with the exam staff and Dr, the front end staff can feel a little sales-y when getting you to pick frames and lenses, but thats the nature of business I suppose.

There was a wide array of glasses to select from, although a few choices were a tad pricey. This is an amazing place! The entire staff was patient, kind, and made my son feel comfortable. I was nervous as he is sensory sensitive (autism spectrum,) and hates to have someone touching his face or glasses on his face... everyone there was so gentle and sweet, he totally cooperated and even had FUN trying on many pairs of glasses. They are so clean and careful during these Covid times too. I am a teacher and work with kids in the neighborhood, and would highly recommend this office to all families! There was no pressure to hurry or buy anything, and my son left feeling happy! I can be a bit of a protective “mama bear” and he can be a challenging kiddo sometimes, but they definitely helped us through the entire process so it was totally painless, and even enjoyable! Their technology is impressive too, but don’t let that scare you into thinking the price would be unaffordable- it was definitely a comparable price to any local eye exam, very affordable! I was a little nervous about the cost with how lovely the office is, how high tech their machines are, and I don’t have vision insurance, but would be willing to pay more than I did for how caring and great they were with my son! Thanks to Dr. Kate and her staff!

Dr. Kate is amazing! I’ve never been here before but decided to make the move since their office was closer to me than my other eye doctor and I’m glad I did! She was very knowledgeable and helped me understand a some things I had completely no idea about. The office was clean and everyone was friendly. It was an interesting, informative eye exam to say the least. I will keep coming here from now on.

My eye exam today was effortless. I filled out all the information online to make things easier for them and myself. The tests were like a video game and very modern. There is no air blowing in the eyes. There is no need to dilate the eyes, unless you dig that kind of thing. Everything was explained very thoroughly and the staff was amazing. Very helpful. They also went explained different ways of caring for your eyes beyond just glasses and contacts. Dr. Kate was genuinely concerned for the health of my eyes. She also answered my questions regarding the kind of deterioration in my eyes using screens and electronics all the time. Especially, in the COVID age, there is more time spend in front of a screen of some sort for me and my family. Everything was very clean and I watched them sanitize before and after I used an exam station. I really had a great experience and I will be referring them to my friends and family.

My experience was enjoyable from the moment I walked in. Clean facility. Friendly service. State of the art testing and Dr Kate explained things to me in terms I understood. I was also given a test and they found out why Ive been getting so many headaches, so im very excited to have an eye Dr nearby who really takes a look at the whole picture.

Everything about my experience was professional from scheduling the appointment, filling out history, and going through the exam. They were courteous and kind on top of it.I was impressed with the technology they are using. They are extremely thorough and even explain everything at the end using the images taken during the exam. It was transparent and clear what was needed / not needed. I could tell their primary objective was to provide me with the service I needed, not try to upsell or simply earn more money. My son & I were there for more than 2 hours. There was no one else there besides us. It was the first time my son has ever seen an eye doctor. We were both exhausted just from being there so long. It was esp hard on him, being 6. I dont feel like the doctor has worked with alot of kids. She proceeded to give him an eye exam after his eyes were dilated. Which means he couldnt make out much of anything .... she made these glasses for him in which she was going to write him a prescription & he couldnt make out much of anything. So I didnt feel comfortable with the prescription beings he could not read with what she was prescribing. So I did take my son to get a 2nd opinion & as I suspected the prescription was wrong. Also at the 2nd opinions office it was alot more kid friendly & we didnt have to sit there for over 2 hours. The staff at the office was nice but my experience with the doctor herself from what I saw & experienced I would never take my kid or myself there again... maybe she needs a little more experience, esp with kids & being able to get her patients in & out in a timely manner.

An eye emergency is always traumatic but the staff at Vision Specialists and Dr. Holthaus made it so much better. Not only did Lisa work me into a Friday schedule, but she gave me good advice before my appointment. Ive been traveling hours annually back to my previous eye doctor but no longer. Ive found a new care provider. Dr. Kate not only addressed the scratch across my cornea and gave me a thorough exam, she explained the implications of my RK surgery from 25 years ago. Ive never had a provider explain it to me like she did. I have had excellent eye care over the years but really felt her genuine interest in my long-term eye health. She was knowledgeable, kind and her passion for her practice was evident. I highly recommend her practice and her staff. I dont wear glasses but I was most impressed with all of the frame options available at Vision Specialists of Omaha. Im actually looking forward to my followup appointment next week!

My experience with this place hasnt been the best. From them over drawing my account by running a check twice, to pressuring me to buy frames, and not being able to get them to fit to my face, it has been nothing but a headache.I stopped in when they first opened, as I was way overdue for an exam. I have vision insurance through my employer. So, I was looking at frames, but I knew finding any that would fit me would be next to impossible since manufacturers dont understand that some women have wide faces and need glasses built that way.So, I was looking and I honestly felt pressured to buy the frames, as someone else was looking at them, and I was told that frames were flying out the door. I was really content with not buying any, but you know how sales people are. So, I get them and then I cant even afford them right then. So, I leave them a check and they ended up running it twice. It was ran electronically and then physically too. Thankfully I caught that, since my bank didnt stop the second check and had to get them to refund the check that ran a second time.Fast forward five months later when I could finally pick up the frames. They didnt even bother adjusting them to my face. They said try them out with how they were. Odd. Every pair of glasses Ive had in the past was properly adjusted the first time I picked them up. Needless to say, they didnt fit. I had to go back the next day and have them adjusted. The nose pads were too narrow and the frames were falling off my face. Then, I accidentally slept on them. They fixed them, but still, they couldnt get them to fit my face.So here we are six days later and nothing has improved. I have to go in once again to get them adjusted, which is a pain, because its a 15 min drive one direction. Thankfully, I can get a refund by the end of the month if they still dont work. At the rate of how everything is going, these are being returned.The only reason its not a one star review is because the staff is super nice and awesome. But I do not know if I will be going back to them for future services, or if Ill find someone else.I hope Im just an isolated incident and no one else will experience what I did. But, needless to say Im very disappointed with everything.

This place is fabulous. Dr. Kate Holthaus is so nice. She really puts you at ease throughout the whole process and has great recommendations for the long term health of my eyes. The rest of the staff was super helpful too. They spent a time helping me pick out my new frames. They had new, cool technology to check your eyes and the building was sleek and well designed. This was the most comprehensive eye exam that I have ever had, I learned more about my own eyes in the 40 minutes I spent with Dr. Kate than I knew about eyes in general before my visit. The office and the equipment are state of the art...no longer a need for a pressure test or dilation. Dr. Kate Holthaus is such a phenomenal doctor. She was extremely nice and professional. She did an excellent job addressing all of my eye care needs. I highly recommend her!!

My first visit to Vision Specialists on Maple Street was refreshing. I was immediately impressed with their zen like ambiance and thoughtful attention to every detail. They feature modern, good looking frames, of which I was most excited to see Rebecca Minkoff offered, a favorite designer of mine. I was further impressed with their state-of-the-art equipment, their focus on the accuracy of your eye exam and maintaining the health of your eyes. I will go back to Vision Specialists again.

I learned more about my eyes in this one appointment with her than I have in the past twenty-some appointments I’ve had! I even got to see the back of my eyes! 👀 Not to mention their store is pretty sleek! If you’re considering switching eye doctors, look no further. This is definitely the place.
