Best tea shop Ive been in, ever. Nicest store workers. They are very knowledgeable about tea and about every single product in the store. If youre a novice they can explain things to you, and if youre pretty knowledgeable about tea like I am, they are happy to talk tea with you. The purple tea I bought was fantastic! Great selection and also great accessories. They do have some coffee too. I will definitely be back sometime soon! Thank you very much.Update: Went back yesterday and had another fantastic experience. The selection is second to none. Very satisfied with my chamomile tea. It is fresh and fragrant. Never had any chamomile from grocery stores that has tasted this good! The English breakfast is awesome as well as the Ceylon.

This is nirvana for tea lovers! Hundreds of loose leaf tea leaves in very imaginative combinations! The prices are reasonable. Margaret, the owner, is very knowledgeable and friendly. I was visiting the shop while on vacation in Pittsburgh, and was pleased to find out that they ship anywhere in the US for $5. I will definitely use that service so that I can remain a Blue Monkey customer even though I live about 500 miles away.

Great place to find a massive variety of teas, and natural whole herbs as well. All kinds of products and accessories for your tea making, herbal infusing, and whatever have you. Plus, Margaret is quite pleasant and helpful and full of knowledge. Great products, great place, great owner, great customers... Just a great experience at the blue monkey.

This place was small but was really packed with a wide variety of teas. They have tea you can try when you walk in and they have a hot/cold menu you can order from if your on the go.The tea I purchased (Turkish Apple) was exceptional and brewed perfectly by the person working.

My random walk along the street helped me to discover this gem. They do have great collection of teas - fruity flavors, herbal and traditional. Check out their peach green tea and the wedding rose tea. The shop is small and is a home to wide variety of teas. You can get authentic Assamese tea and Darjeeling tea. They do sell coffee beans and tea pots. You will also get short breads there. They are so courteous and helps you in selecting the tea according to your palette. Don’t forget to get a to-go for rest of your evening walk

I love this place. It is gorgeous and has so many options for all tea needs! The teapots are stunning as well. The woman working was beyond helpful and super sweet. I will be going there from here on out for all my tea needs.

Great service and unique selection

I went looking for Puerh Cakes, Oolong, and a nice tea tray for my gaiwan set. The guy at dobra was short, and instructed me that gaiwan isnt gongfu rather than helping me, then sent for someone else to sell me the actual tea so he could walk away. Blue monkey, on the other hand got their owner on speaker phone to answer questions about their Puerh because it was brand new, they were excited to talk about tea, kind, down to earth. I highly recommend choosing Blue Monkey for your fine teas, and teaware!!! The owner is very kind and knowledgeable, as are the staff.

Fantastic tea place. From I dunno, I just like tea to I need a gift for a person who seems like they would like tea (if someone seems like they would like tea, they like tea) to I am a tea expert and I need a fancy schmancy doo hickey or organic chamomile flowers or something. They have it all!

Blue Monkey Tea is a Squirrel Hill institution! They offer hundreds of loose teas and imported European goodies to satisfy any palate. Perhaps most wonderful of all, they ship anywhere in the United States for $5! Now that I no longer reside within the City limits, I can save time, parking fees, and still enjoy the marvellous offerings at Blue Monkey for a mere $5!

Wonderful assortment of teas, and tea cookies, cakes and snacks from a variety of countries...e.g. British. Asian, polish etc. Owners were personable and very knowledgable. Found a decaf black tea from Ireland that really tastes like tea.

This shop is fantastic. I havent had the chance to compare it to other tea shops in Pittsburgh, but I dont feel the need to either. They have a wonderful selection of teas, coffees, and equipment, and a knowledgeable staff that are happy to talk tea and help you out as much as you want. Couple this with their very reasonable prices, and visiting here is always a treat. If youre looking for high quality, loose-leaf tea, look no further.

If you love tea this is your heaven! They have the most unique types from herbal to sweet to fruity to well everything.The shop is small but don’t let that fool you from coming in. I’ve been here a few times and each time I come back for more and to try out a new tea. They have extensive knowledge of their teas, so don’t be shy to ask any questions. I LOVE the selection they they have!!They will even brew you a cuppa tea as well (for purchase) of the recent season taste! I got a wonderful fall drink that I just cannot get enough of.I hope to see you the next time I go there!

If you are a tea drinker this is the place to go. All types and flavors are available including bagged, loose leaf, and herbal. There are a wide variety of brands, including Republic of Tea brand which has Banana Chocolate and Strawberry Chocolate herbal tea, great taste and no caffeine. There is also a complete line of teapots, cups and cozies. The staff is very helpful and can answer your questions.

I love this store!!! The lady was so nice and helpful, and there is so much to look at. There were teas and flavors Ive never even heard of. Anyone who left less than 5 stars was never actually there. I will be going back frequently!

This is a great spot to get loose leaf teas. They have a great variety. For those that like mix different teas together this spot is great for finding ingredients. BTW Last time I was there they were offering classes in either types of tea or ways to prepare them or both. Ask to see if they still have it.

Great little tea shop on the hill. Has the best milk oolong and a nice selection for a local tea shop. I often buy here when orders from China take to long to hold me over.

Excellent tea selection, very friendly and helpful staff. Lots of rate and hard to find teas available as well as tea pots, strainers and all manner of accessories. They also have some magnificent whole bean coffee available with a grinder in store for those without one at home. Ive been a patron since it was Margarets fine imports. Im happy to say it seems like Margaret still owns it and is most definitely still doing an excellent job running it. A favorite place of mine to visit every time Im in the area.

Very nice shop with a wide selection of loose teas and tea sets. Prices for tea are pretty reasonable, and staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Its easy to walk in and then leave with some tea and a set including a filter.Update: Ive been using their online store (pittsburghcuppa.com) a LOT, with the COVID-19 shutdowns at first, and now because I live farther away from the store. The same variety is available, and its been a godsend. Would really recommend using their site if you cant make it to the store, the shippings only $5 flat, and Im drinking more tea nowadays than ever.

We recently found out about this place through the I Made It Market in Squirrel Hill, where we picked up a small batch of Dragons Breath, Game of Thrones flavored tea. I hadnt tried any smokey flavored tea before, and apparently Ive been missing out! Even though its been tremendously hot outside, I havent been able to stop making a batch of this Dragons Breath every day.Just went back today to pick up some Dornish Wine flavored tea, from their very large collection of Game of Thrones branded teas. Smells absolutely delicious!All the staff there were all very friendly, they all went out of their way to help us, and all the teas were reasonable-to-low prices.

A great place to get imported foodstuffs, particularly tea, coffee, and chocolates (although you have other good chocolate import options nearby too). Margaret also occasionally has classes/tasting sessions for tea and these are quite educational. Her store has been around for many years but she still is willing to take suggestions if you want something she doesnt currently stock.

My only possible complaint I could ever have about this place is that there are not enough hours in the day to smell all of these fresh teas. It has spoiled me and I have trouble buying regular tea at other locations. They are fair priced and last much longer than other loose leafs that I buy.
